MEET MY NEW PROJECT: PORTO PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDE

Depois de alguns anos a fotografar para o Kiss Me Quick descobrimos sítios bastante interessantes pela cidade do Porto. E encontrar locais novos e interessantes para fotografarmos tornou-se parte da nossa rotina na criação de conteúdos para o Kiss Me Quick.

Infelizmente depois da faculdade acabar tanto eu como a Carla seguimos caminhos diferentes, e o blog também deixou de ser atualizado.

Apesar de ter seguido design de comunicação fiquei com pena de não continuar a fazer algo de fotografia que é sem dúvida a minha primeira paixão. Por isso decidi desenvolver um projeto que me permitisse partilhar com toda a gente os locais que fui descobrindo com a Carla durante o tempo que tivemos o blog.

O Porto Photography Guide é um guia para locais interessantes para fotografar e visitar na cidade, tentando dar a conhecer a diversidade, cultura e história pouco explorada.

Depois de quase meio ano a planear e a desenvolver a ideia, finalmente lancei esta semana o Porto Photography Guide. Para quem seguia o Kiss Me Quick, espero que goste deste novo projeto e vos dê vontade de vir para o Porto passear e ficar a conhecer melhor a cidade.

Translation:

After a few years photographing for the Kiss Me Quick project we found pretty awesome places around our town in Porto, Portugal. And in the process of creating content for the blog, finding new places was a big part of it.

Unfortunately after college, Carla and I went our separate ways, and the blog stopped being being updated.

I ended up following graphic design, but I felt terribly sorry I didn’t go on making photography, when it was without a doubt one of my first passions. So I decided to create a project that would allow me to share with everyone, the places I discovered while shooting for the blog.

Porto Photography Guide is a location guide for good places to photograph and visit, trying to show the culture and history of the city.

After almost half a year of planning and concept development, I finally launched the project last week! For those who already followed the Kiss Me Quick blog or just happened to stumble across this blog, I really hope you enjoy this new project, and it will make you want to travel to Porto and explore the city better.

Coisas novas, a ver se não aborrece

Não, não vamos voltar depois de uma ausência de tantos meses .

Tanto eu como a Carla estamos ambas ocupadas em diferentes projetos que nos impedem de continuar a trabalhar juntas no blog.

Mas quero que continuem a seguir-me pelo facebook do blog que atualizo quase todas as semanas, onde coloco montes de links e inspirações gostosas :)

Não deixem de fazer click no 'receber atualizações da página'.

Para quem já seguia atentamente o facebook do blog, também está a par desta foto que tirei o mês passado num dos locais que fotografei para o site que penso lançar até ao final deste ano. Está a dar mais trabalho do que estava a espera, mas vai valer a pena com toda a certeza. E se gostam do conteúdo do Kiss Me Quick, tenho a certeza que vão gostar ainda mais do que aí vem (exclusivo a intrépidos a exploradores da cidade do Porto ;) )

SHE TURNS TO STONE

Finalmente tivemos um tempinho no fim-de-semana passado para tirar algumas fotos novas. Já estávamos fora de forma quase, de tanto tempo que passou desde a última vez. Manter o mesmo ritmo de actualizações que há uns anos atrás, aqui no blog seria impensável neste momento. Ambas estamos num trabalho das 9 as 6h e quando o dia chega ao fim queremos descontrair em vez de editar fotos, fazer promoção, responder a comentários. Não dá K.

Por isso decidimos começar a filtrar muito mais os nossos conteúdos e votamos em qualidade em oposição a quantidade. Vamos começar a fazer pelo menos 2 posts por mês e podem-nos seguir pelo facebook, que atualizamos com mais frequência!

Tem sido igualmente difícil manter-me actualizada ao que se tem passado aqui pela blogosfera, para ser sincera não me tem entusiasmado tanto como antigamente. Mais do mesmo, têm-me deixado pouco cativada. Algo que reparei que mudou é a qualidade de fotografia, as meninas andam aí com umas bombas bem poderosas, que tenho visto fotos magníficas de pormenores J.

Gostava de ver toda a gente de novo, num evento semelhante ao piquenique a que fomos há uns anos atrás no palácio, e por em conversa em dia. Bem, era uma boa idea...

Bem boa pascoa pessoal, aproveitem para comer muitos doces!

Finally we got around to take some new pictures last weekend . We were almost out of shape, so much time that has passed since the last time. Maintaining the same pace of updates that we had a few years ago , here on the blog would be unthinkable at this time . We’re both working a 9am to 6pm job and when the day comes to a close we want to relax instead of editing photos , doing promotion, respond to comments . It just won’t do K

So we decided to start filtering much more content and vote on quality as opposed to quantity. We’ll try doing at least 2 posts a month and we’ll be updating facebook a little more often.

It has also been difficult to keep updated on what 's been going on the blogosphere.

To be honest it hasn’t made me too much excited. It has been more of the same. Something that I noticed that has changed is the quality in the photography. The girls walk around with some pretty powerful bombs, I have seen pictures of magnificent details J.

KISS ME QUICK - OUR NEW STORE

Nestas últimos meses demos por nós a tirar menos fotos porque decidimos investir mais tempo a planear uma única serie de fotografias do que sair de casa apenas para tirar fotos por tirar. Mas o tempo tem tornado tudo ainda mais difícil, por isso temos passado os nossos dias a trabalhar noutros projetos de design e ilustração que pelo menos não estão dependentes de um céu limpo, ou apenas nublado porque durante o Inverno também não podemos exigir demais.

Ainda que procure manter a nossa página de facebook actualizada, isto tem resultado num desleixe pela nossa parte do blog, mas tem sido criativamente revigorante porque temos feito muitas coisas novas fora da nossa zona de conforto.

Decidimos também que estava na altura de colocar algumas das coisas que temos vindo a criar acessível. Criamos uma loja no Society6 e temos por lá os nossos padrões em todo o tipo de merchandise. O meu favorito é mesmo as capas para telemóveis, são um docinho ahah. No outro dia a Carla estava a comentar como ela muito provavelmente iria comprar uma capa com um padrão criado por ela própria.

Como não podia deixar de ser, colocamos também algumas prints de fotografias nossas disponíveis para compra.

Vamos tentar atualizar com mais material ao longo desta semana por isso vão passando por lá!

In these past months we found ourselves taking less photos because we decided to invest more time working on a single series rather than just going out and take some for the sake of updating the blog. But the weather has made things even more difficult, so we spent our days working on other design and illustration projects that at least are not dependent on a clear sky. So we’ve been slacking in blog updates, but it has been nice creating with different kinds of media.

And we decided it was time to put some of the things we have been doing available for purchase on Society6.

My favorites are the photo cases , they’re adorable. The other day Carla was commenting as she was probably going to buy a phone case with a pattern created by herself.

We also placed some prints of some of our photography work available. We’ll try to update with more material throughout this week so mind to check it out during the next few days.

Quando decidi começar a escrever pensei, eia tenho tanta coisa que gostava de dizer, tanto tempo passou desde a última vez que escrevi aqui. Mas como sempre quando começo a escrever sinto que nenhuns dos assuntos são realmente importantes ou interessantes. Podia falar do tempo, e como não para de chover, da falta de vontade de sair da cama de manha ao ouvir a chuva e o vento bater na janela, de como gostava de ser mais produtiva, fazer e aprender mais. Mas no final dou por mim a pensar, wow isso é extremamente triste Carla! E ninguém tem tempo para isso, nem vontade de te ouvir a reclamar!!

E então penso mais um bocadinho, e lembro-me das boas notícias, de como comprei uma máquina de costura, e estou a tentar aprender a costurar, de como comecei a fazer ilustração, de como a chuva e o frio são um bom pretexto para ficar junto à lareira com uma chávena de chá, e como tenho sempre a companhia das series (ou a falta delas, Why did you leave me coven whyy?)

Por falar em series, agora que o American horror story Coven nos deixou, e me deixou triste por não haver mais awesome outfits, mais alguém vai sentir falta?

E sim foi assim que surgiu a inspiração para estas fotos, uma ligeira obsessão para com a serie, que para além de uma história interessante tinha uns outfits sempre impecáveis. (Como posso ser uma mistura da Zoe com a Misty? É possível por favor, hm?)

When I decided to start writing I thought, hei I have so much I would like to say, so much time has passed since the last time I wrote here. But as always when I start to write I feel that none of the issues are really important or interesting. I could talk about the weather, and how does not stop raining, the unwillingness to get out of bed in the morning because it's nice to hear the wind and rain hit the window, how I wanted to be more productive, make and learn more. But in the end I find myself thinking, wow this is extremely sad Carla! And nobody has the time or desire to hear you complaining!

And then I think a little bit more, and I remember the good news...like the fact that I bought a sewing machine and I am trying to learn to sew, how I started doing illustrations, how the rain and cold is a good excuse to stay by the fireplace with a cup of tea, and as always how I have the company of the shows (or lack of them, Why did you leave me whyy coven?)

Speaking of shows, now that the American horror story Coven left us, and made me sad because there is no more awesome outfits, does someone else fell sad about this?

And yes this is how we got the inspiration for these pictures, a slight obsession with the show, which in addition to an interesting story, always had perflectly awesome outfits. (How can I be a mixture of Zoe with Misty ? Is that possible? hm?)

O ano está quase a acabar e por isso queríamos agradecer a toda a gente que nos segue e acompanha as nossas “aventuras” e nos viu crescer.

2013 foi um óptimo ano para nós, fizemos projetos mesmo muito interessantes com outras bloggers, abrimos uma conta de youtube porque estávamos cansadas de levar tudo tão aserio, concluímos o nosso curso e desde então temos passado por uma grande processo de descoberta que nos tem levado a conhecer pessoas muito interessantes e experienciar coisas que nunca vamos esquecer.

Temos muitos projetos e ideias planeadas para o ano que vem, e espero que vocês continuem a acompanhar o nosso trabalho, e a receber o vosso apoio. Obrigada por todos os comentários de encorajamento, queremos que saibam que valorizamos CADA UM deles, mesmo que nem sempre vos agradeça diretamente.

The year is almost over and so we wanted to thank everyone who follows our "adventures" and has seens us grow through the years.

2013 was a great year for us, we did really interesting projects with other bloggers, we opened a youtube account because we were tired of taking everything so seriously, we graduated from college, and since then we have gone through a great discovery process that has led us to meet very interesting people and experiencing things that we will never forget.

Quando tiramos estas fotos no Porto, lembro-me de me queixar do frio, que estava vento, que estava gelada, mas agora que estou em Espanha, relembrei o que é o frio a serio…e isto sim é frio! À noite a temperatura é negativa e durante o dia esta lá quase! :P

Eu dizia sempre, “ah gosto muito do inverno porque se usa muitas camadas”, mas agora que as tenho que usar, estar sempre de luvas, gorro e cachecol, cheguei a conclusão que não é assim tão engraçado e que não estou preparada para tanto frio hahaha

No entanto não há nada melhor que chegar a casa e enrolar na manta com chá, e por isso o inverno continua a ser a minha estação preferida…com vento e tudo :P
E vocês, de que estação gostam mais?

When we took these pictures in Porto, I remember complaining about the weather, how it was cold, that it was very windy, but now that I'm in Spain, I remembered what the cold really is... and seriously this is coold! At night the temperature is negative and during the day almost is! : P

I always say, "oh I really like winter because you can wear so many layers," but now that I have to use them, gloves and scarf, I came to the conclusion that it is not so funny, and I'm not prepared to so muuuch cold hahaha

However there is nothing better than coming home and curl up on the blanket with tea, so the winter continues to be my favorite season ... with wind and everything: P

Este fim-de-semana foi o meu aniversário e apesar de nunca ter pensado muito na minha idade, não me sinto de todo com 24 anos.

Sinto que sou muito mais nova, e que as expectativas para uma pessoa tão velha são demasiadas tendo em comparação o que fiz até agora. Passei demasiados anos a estudar e poucos a viver a vida. Sinto que devia fazer as malas, apanhar um avião e só voltar quando tivesse vivido o suficiente desses 24 e quem sabe mais.

This weekend was my birthday and despite never thinking much about my own age, I don’t feel at all like I’m 24.

I feel l like I am much younger, and that the expectations for a person that old are much more compared with what I've done so far. I spent too many years studying, instead of living life. I feel I ought to pack my bags, get on a plane and come back only when I have lived enough of those 24 and maybe more.

Eu adoro o Outono e o Inverno, adoro o frio, os dias de chuva, as camadas infinitas de roupa que temos de usar nesta época. Infelizmente passei a última semana em casa a recuperar da minha ida ao dentista que me deixou cheia de cores e com metade da cara inchada que nem um balão. Ontem finalmente tive coragem de sair á rua para dar uma volta, apanhar ar e estrear o casaco que finalmente chegou no correio e já quase fora da sua época. Gosto de peças com sentido de humor para animar aqueles dias em que nos sentimos mais em baixo e este casaco faz-me sorrir.

Gostava ainda de partilhar com vocês algumas coisas que estou a adorar neste momento:

- Sleepy Hollow (uma serie mesmo reconfortante que ando a seguir todas as semanas – as personagens, a história é tudo viciante);

- Lilly Allen – Hard out here (a nova musica feminista da Lilly Allen ao qual toda a gente procedeu a criticar por razões completamente despropositadas como as acusações de que o vídeo-clip era racista em vez de interiorizarem a mensagem muito mais interessante que ela procurou passar);

- Eyeliner de glitter da Kiko - acho que a descrição – eyeliner + glitter devia falar por si, mas eu explico: todas as semanas tenho comprado uma cor diferente porque eles estão a fazer uma promoção de 50% nas lojas kiko;

- Livros de fantasia - series como Shadow and bone, A discovery of witches são perfeitos para o Outono porque são livros tão confortáveis que não consigo explicar, especialmente o Discovery of Witches tem uma descrição perfeita de comida e tempo que dá vontade de rebolar na cama com cobertores, chá na cabeceira e uma grande fatia de bolo. Dizem que The Lunar Chronicles é muito bom por isso talvez seja a minha próxima série a ler porque estas duas ainda não estão acabadas L ;

- Emma Blackberry – Ela é tão sassy, fico sempre vidrada no canal dela;

- Blue exorcist – foi das minhas séries favoritas de anime por isso estou a revê-la;

- Oh Land - "Renaissance Girls" – okok é outra musica com uma mensagem feminista, acho que estamos a começar a ver um padrão aqui, mas eu fiquei mesmo impressionada com a musica, o estilo, o cabelo e a voz dela;

-Architects of decay (um blog português também meeesmo comfy. Adoro a fotografia, a inspiração, os espaços)

I love the autumn and winter, the cold, the rainy days, the endless layers of clothes to protect us. Unfortunately I spent this last week at home recovering from my las visit to the dentist, that left me with a lot of pain and half my face swollen like a balloon. Yesterday I finally had the courage to come outside for a walk, get some air and debut the coat that finally arrived in the mail. I like clothes with a sense of humor to lighten up those days when we are feeling down and this jacket makes me smile.

I would also like to share with you guys some things I'm loving right now :

- Sleepy Hollow (a series I've been following every week);

- Lilly Allen - Hard Out Here (the feminist perspective of life, love it)

- Fantasy books - series like Shadow and bone , A discovery of witches are perfect readings for autumn because they are so comfortable, especially the Discovery of Witches has a perfect description of food and the weather, that just makes you want to roll around in bed with blankets , with tea on the nightstand and a large slice of cake . Everyone says The Lunar Chronicles are very good so it might be my next series to read;

- Emma Blackberry - She's so sassy , I am always glued to her channel ;

- Blue exorcist – is one of my favorite anime series so I'm reviewing it ;

- Oh Land - "Renaissance Girls" - okok is another song with a feminist message , I think we're starting to see a pattern here , but I was really impressed with the music , the style , the hair and her voice ;

- Architects of decay ( a blog that I also find super comfy. Love the photography, inspiration, everything)

KISS ME QUICK COLLECTIVE - O QUE FAZEMOS

Como sabem, este ano eu e a Carla acabamos a nossa Licenciatura em Artes e Multimédia.

Mal acabamos o curso decidimos que queríamos continuar a trabalhar juntas e aproveitar a marca Kiss Me Quick que já vínhamos a construir através do blog há alguns anos como plataforma para o nosso trabalho.

Por isso criamos o Colectivo Kiss Me Quick.

Mas o que é que isso significa? O que fazemos?

Com base na nossa formação e nos nossos interesses fazemos todo tipo de trabalhos a nível de Fotografia, vídeo e design de comunicação.

Fazemos desde logotipos, cartazes, rebranding, vídeos promocionais, fotografia de moda, eventos, tratamento e manipulação de imagens…

Como podem ver abrange uma grande variedade de serviços.

Estamos ainda a começar e por isso o custo dos trabalhos vai de acordo com a nossa experiência.

Podem ir espreitar o nosso portfolio, que está quase pronto mas ainda não está completo devido ao limite de projetos suportados pelo site. Vamos colocar trabalhos de design e vídeo em breve!

Adicionalmente, vamos ainda a oferecer sessões fotográficas, semelhantes às que fizemos com as bloggers de moda este ano, a toda a gente que estiver interessada.

As you know , Carla and I graduated from college a few months ago.

We quickly decided we wanted to continue to work together and make use of the brand Kiss Me Quick, since our body of work was pretty extense.

So we created the Collective Kiss Me Quick . But what does that mean ? What do we do ?

Based on our training and our interests we do all sorts of work in photography , video and design. From logos, posters, rebranding , promotional videos , fashion photography , processing and manipulation of photos...

As you can see covers a wide range of services .

We are just beginning and so the cost of the work goes according to our experience.

You can take peek at our portfolio , which is almost ready but not yet complete due to the limit of projects supported by the site . But will be updating our design and video work soon!

MAJIKKU SHINZO - MAGIC HEART

Como a Carina falou no post anterior, fomos à festa de Halloween da Fox, que acabou por ser tudo menos assustadora! Os zombies do tema da serie, Walking Dead, não eram de todo muito assustadores e havia convidados com mascaras e pinturas muito mais bem feitas….mas claro que não me vou queixar da festa não ser assustadora! Nos estávamos interessadas em nos divertirmos e dançar, e isso eles conseguiram fazer. (a escolha da musica foi muito engraçada, até 50cent se ouviu hahaha)

Quanto ao outfit…bem este halloween, ao experimentar roupa que tinha no armário, decidi ir vestida de uma personagem de anime! Mas como reconstituir uma personagem específica iria ser algo complicado, não só é difícil encontrar os acessórios certos, como são todos muito caros. Então acabei por tentar o meu melhor e fazer uma espécie de bruxa anime! (à qual adicionei uma espada para levar à festa).

A inspiração para estas fotos foi personagem de anime kick ass haha Mas penso que poderiam ter corrido muito melhor se eu tivesse conseguido transmitir a emoção correcta, mas há dias que não nos sentimos kick ass, e este foi definitivamente um destes!

Boa semana J Foxes: Youth

This halloween we went to the Fox Halloween party, which turned out to be anything but scary! The theme was Zombies, of the show Walking Dead, and they were not at all very scary actually a lot of the guests had masks and face paintings a lot more weird...but of course I will not complain about the party not being creepy! We wanted to have fun and just dance, and they actually did a good job about that…at least I liked hahaha (the choice of music was very funny, they even played 50cent haha)

As for the outfit ... well this Halloween, when I was trying on clothes that I had in the closet, I decided to go dressed as a character from anime! But to be a specific character would actually be a little bit complicated, not only is it difficult to find the right accessories, but they are also all very expensive. So I ended up trying my best and make a kind of witch anime! (to which I added a sword to bring to the party) .

The inspiration for these photos was kick ass anime character haha But I think it could have gone much better if I had managed to convey the emotion correctly, but there are days when we do not feel kick ass, and this was definitely one of these!

SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES

Adoro o Halloween e por isso este ano decidimos fazer dois posts dedicados a este feriado (aliás, ex-feriado L), com alguma magia á mistura.

Encontramos um local com uma casa abandonada, e tinha a relva mais verde que já vi e as árvores mais assustadoras também, ahah (tudo isto combinado cria um cenário bastante interessante). Mas nós ficamo-nos maioritariamente pelo pátio da casa, e pelo terraço (agora que penso nisso não terá sido a melhor ideia numa casa em ruinas, mas correu tudo bem).

Hoje vamos passar a noite a ver filmes de Halloween e a comer pipocas como manda a tradição J. Estou ainda a tentar preparar-me psicologicamente para a festa de Halloween da Fox. Conseguimos bilhetes para a festa, mas o tema este ano são zombies e eles costumam criar ambientes e personagens demasiado realistas. Este ano a festa é para maior de 18 K, eu não me considero um adulto e tenho um serio problema com zombies por isso não sei ainda muito bem como isto irá resultar…

Bem, mas falando de outro assunto, para quem ainda não nos segue pelo Youtube não sabe que lançamos um novo vídeo. Como alguém sugeriu, estamos a pensar tornar o tema da semana passada numa rubrica a sério, o que acham?

Estou curiosa, e vocês que planos têm para o Halloween?

I love Halloween, so this year we decided to do two posts dedicated to this Holiday.

We found an awesome abandoned house, and it had the greener grass I have ever seen and the most sinister trees creating a fantastic scenery. But we stuck mostly to the patio and the roof of the house (now that I think of it, not the best idea since it was pretty much falling apart).

Tonight we’re gonna stay home, watch some Halloween movies and eat lots of popcorn and tradition demands, ahah.

I’m still trying to get mentally ready for what’s coming tomorrow night because we got invites for the Fox Halloween party and the theme this year is zombies.

I’m worrying because A – They always create really realistic scenery and characters, B – You can only go if you’re over 18 and mentally I’m still a child, C – I FREAKING HATE ZOMBIES, they scare the crap out of me.

How about you’re Halloween plans? Anything good I should know about?

WEEKS THAT GO ON FOREVER

Espreitem o que andei a fazer por aqui a semana passada.

Felizmente a Carla entretanto regressou e nós estamos de volta ao trabalho, menos fotografias e mais promoção do nosso coletivo. A faculdade acabou e decidimos que queremos ficar a trabalhar juntas, visto que já temos o blog e trabalhamos há tanto tempo para o mesmo é difícil separar onde começa o trabalho de uma e acaba o trabalho da outra.

O tempo tem estado mesmo agradável e é quase impossível concentrar em casa, por isso passamos a semana, sentadas em cafés ao computador a trabalhar.

This is a vídeo I did last week (sorry but it’s in Portuguese). It’s mainly me complaining about how much I miss Carla, because she went away for a while and I did absolutely nothing during her absence. But she is back, and so are we back to work again.

After college we decided we were going to be working together as a collective and so far so good. We spend this week in cafes, working on promotion tasks witch are pretty boring but very much necessary.

SEASONS THAT CHANGE AND I ALMOST FEEL THE EARTH MOVING

Há duas semanas fizemos uma pequena sessão com uma amiga nossa, inspirada na Frida Kahlo e parece que foram tiradas há meses quando o Verão estava prestes a começar e o ar era muito mais leve.

Quando conhecemos a Elena por esta altura no ano passado, eu e a Carla eramos duas pessoas completamente diferentes, era impossível tirar-nos de casa e passávamos os fins-de-semana a ver filmes, séries, na internet, todo o tipo de coisas anti-sociais que possam imaginar. Era confortável e não pensávamos ir a lado nenhum.

Ela veio de Espanha através do programa Erasmus, e é a pessoa mais sociável e amigável que conheci até hoje. Em poucos meses de cá estar criou o MUV, um movimento que proporcionava concertos, discussões e conferências sobre música gratuitas para toda a gente e estava sempre muito ocupada, envolvida numas 500 coisas.

A ironia foi que apesar de nós sermos de cá, foi ela que nos fez sentir em casa. Mostrou-nos o Porto (locais onde existem pessoas e não os jardins e lugares escondidos que costumamos encontrar), apresentou-nos a metade da cidade e fez-me ver a cidade de uma forma completamente diferente, com uma vida e um espírito que tanto eu e a Carla desconhecíamos.

Agora que ela regressou para Espanha vamos ter muitas saudades dela. É quase bizarro pensar na forma como as coisas mudaram desde que a conhecemos, mas como a Carla costuma dizer, há pessoas que são assim, que entram na nossa vida para abanar tudo e mudar a forma como vemos as coisas.

Nessa tarde, quando estávamos a tirar as fotos convidávamos este rapaz que na altura estava a estender roupa para tirar fotos connosco e foi de partir a rir.

Agora que o Outono começou, vou ter saudades da espontaneidade e liberdade que o Verão traz as pessoas.

Two weeks ago we did a little shot with a friend of ours, inspired in Frida Kahlo. It seems like we took them ages ago, even though it has been only a couple of weeks.

When we met Elena, we were both a couple of anti-social geeks who spend their time at home watching movies, series and were mostly on the internet. A year later and here we are. I feel like a completely different person.

Even though this was our city, and Elena came from Spain, she was the one who made us feel at home. Introduced us to half the city, showed us everything that was interesting to know about and now that she went back home, we are going to miss her a lot. She was truly the life of the party.

The day we took these photos, we also met her neighbour who was hanging so clothes out to dry, and asked him if he didn’t want to come down and take some pictures. And so he did. We had tons of fun that afternoon.

Now that Autumn began, I’m sure going to miss the openness and spontaneity of people during summer time.

I AM NOT ANGRY ANYMORE

Quando estava a fazer este post estava a ouvir Paramore, daí o título, e a musica, I am not angry anymore passou e eu achei que combinava com as fotos.

Achei engraçado como não só a melodia parecia combinar como também a letra…”I am not angry anymore, well, sometimes I am”. Não que eu estivesse irritada com alguém, mas talvez com a sociedade em geral, e como a musica diz, não estou mais irritada, mas bem, as vezes ainda estou haha

Tiramos estas fotos para colocar no nosso Portefólio, e acabamos por tirar muitas e todas elas a fazer disparates, apesar destas serem normais (ou relativamente haha) as restantes estavam longe de ser assim, e aqui fica uma como prova. :P

E um outro assunto que não tem nada a ver (mas ao mesmo tempo tem) o vídeo que fizemos esta semana é um tutorial, a Sex Tutorial buahaha Fizemos uma espécie de paródia com o assunto, portanto esta longe de ser informativo, mas foi uma forma, leve e divertida, de expressarmos aquilo que sentimos em relação a alguns assuntos (que ainda me irritam quanto à sociedade haha), que estamos a pensar explicar num outro vídeo.

While I was doing this post was listening to Paramore, hence the title, it was the music, I am not angryanymore and I thought that matched the photos.

It's funny how not only the melody seemed to fit but so did lyrics as well ... "I am not angry anymore, well, sometimes I am." Not that I was angry with someone, but maybe with society in general, and as the song says, I'm not angry anymore, well, sometimes I am haha

We took these pictures to put in our Portfolio, and we ended up taking a lot to of them doing funny poses, despite these being normal (kinda haha) the others looked far from this ones, and the last one is here as proof. :P

Well another issue that has nothing to do (but at the same time has) the video we did this week is a tutorial, an Sex Tutorial buahaha We made it as sort of parody with towards the subject, so it's far from informational, but it was a way, funny one, to express what we feel about certain issues (that still annoy me about the society haha), and we are thinking about explain it another video.

BIRDCAGE

Para quem nos segue no facebook (e se não seguem deviam seguir, wink wink), já tinha tido uma pequena preview do local onde estivemos a fotografar esta semana. É dos sítios mais bonitos que encontramos por acaso no Porto, nos últimos anos. E mesmo no centro da Avenida da Boavista, nas traseiras da Casa Viscondessa Santiago Lobao. Tem estufas e jardins muito interessantes.

Vou ser sincera e dizer que como costume invadimos o espaço e não sei até que ponto podemos andar por ali a passear, mas até hoje ninguém nos incomodou e é um sítio mesmo bonito e tranquilo. Às vezes pergunto-me quantos mais sítios destes estão pelo Porto á minha espera e até começo a salivar…

A descrição do meu emprego perfeito seria pagarem-me para entrar neste tipo de espaços e fotografá-los, mas ter a possibilidade de inserir personagens e criar histórias lá dentro. O que se pensarmos nisso não está assim tão longe do que já fazemos, excepto pela parte de nos pagarem, ahah.

O que nos atraiu logo para o coreto foi os traços visíveis de arte nova (para quem não sabe eu sou obcecada em tudo que pertence a este movimento =P) que tornavam tudo tão romântico e perfeito. A forma curvilínea do metal na entrada do coreto, por coincidência é igualzinha á forma que coloquei a envolver um cartaz de arte nova que fiz o ano passado. Se tivesse reparado nisso na altura muito provavelmente tinha tentado passar a ilustração para vida real, mas não tinha deixado de ser ligeiramente trágico porque representava a obra Salomé deOscar Wilde. Por outro lado, era capaz de ser interessante porque podia meter a cabeça da Carla a rolar dali para fora, ahaha.

Felizmente nesse dia nenhuma de nós se estava a sentir assim tão trágica, e a minha inspiração ao ver o sitio foi mais Dita Von Teese de uma forma menos obvia porque não tenho jeito para ser sexy e quando tento é um awkward fest que nunca mais acaba, ahaha.

For those who follow us on facebook, you have probably seen a little preview of the location we were photographing this week. It’s one of the most beautiful places we found at random in Porto. It’s right in the heart of the City, in the back of the House of Viscondessa Santiago Lobao. There are greenhouses and very interesting gardens.

Sometimes I wonder how many more places like this are waiting to be discovered in the city and I actually start salivating…

The description of the perfect job for me would be getting paid to go into this kind of spaces, take photos of them but with a chance of inserting characters and create stories inside. If you think about it, we kind of already do that except we don’t get paid, ahaha

What attracted us to the gazebo where the visible traces of Art Noveau (for those who don’t know, I’m obsessed with everything related to this movement =P) that made everything so perfect and romantic.

Some of the lines traced by the metal at the entrance, reminded me a lot of an illustration I did last year about the play Salomé fromOscar Wilde, and I wish I had noticed the similarities at the time because we could have tried to simulate the poster and Carla’s had would have had the chance to roll down the stairs, ahaha.

But fortunately we weren’t feeling very tragic and I was more in a Dita Von Teese mood than anything else.

SHOT, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

Um mês e 20 seguidores depois, aqui esta *Drum roll* o resultado do nosso vídeo desafio, “shot challenge”! *Tcharan*

Decidimos pegar na palavra shot e brincar com ela, visto que beber 20 shots talvez também não fosse a melhor das ideias ahaha, e como gostámos de experimentar novos conceitos juntamos tudo e assim surgiu este vídeo!

Queremos agradecer a toda a gente que nos seguiu, ao apoio e as palavras simpáticas que nos deram sobre os vídeos, aqueles que se riram connosco e de nos hahah e aqui esta um outro vídeo para poderem se rir mais um bocadinho :P

Eu e a Carina estamos a gostar muito de fazer estes vídeos, um pouco diferentes do que costumamos fazer, mas espero que vocês estejam a gostar de ver e se divirtam a vê-los tanto (ou mais vah, que por vezes da algum trabalho e não é assim tão divertido :P) como nós a faze-los! J

OLD NIGHTMARES

Já tirei estas fotos a alguns meses, pouco tempo depois de descolorar o cabelo, e quando as tirei tinha uma ideia muito específica do efeito que queria nas fotos, com muita luz suave. Mas como tudo na vida, não correu como planeado. Haha

Ultimamente tenho pensado como mudamos tanto este ano, eu e a Carina…Quando criamos este blog eu era uma pessoa muito diferente, que via o mundo de uma diferente e pior perspectiva…e principalmente porque me faltava confiança! Para mim toda a gente trabalhava mais, era mais criativo, enfim toda a gente era melhor que eu….esse era o principal problema,, um problema que eu demorei demasiado tempo para perceber. Por algum motivo eu achava que tinha que ser perfeita( o que é irónico visto que eu adoro a imperfeição), tinha que saber tudo, ser a melhor a tudo e saber antes de as tentar fazer…e o que não me apercebi foi que ao fazer isso, eu acaba por nunca fazer nada, acabava por não viver! Não crescia e todos os dias estava mais longe do meu objectivo. E apesar de ser bom sermos críticos do nosso trabalho e querer ser melhor, é muito mau quando isso é o principal objectivo e não tentamos nos divertir com o que fazemos

Quando comecei a tirar fotos foi muito difícil, porque não sabia o que fazer e era muito tímida, por isso coisas como pintar o meu cabelo, tentar um novo estilo de roupas ou ir a um encontro de bloggers, eram grandes passos para mim, que me forçavam a perder algum dos meus medos!

Eu vou me calar, prometo ahaha, mas o que eu queria mesmo dizer é como este blog me ajudou, como a Carina me ajuda todos os dias( ela nunca me deixa desistir e obriga-me a fazer as coisas mesmo que eu tenha medo)…e principalmente como é importante ter confiança!

Não vou dizer que é fácil mudar, porque não é, demora e é preciso fazer um esforço, como fazer coisas que não estamos habituados a fazer…e se forem como eu, sinto que mesmo assim nunca esta bem ahaha ate porque, mesmo escrever este post foi difícil, porque não falo muito sobre mim ou sobre os meus sentimentos…mas ler sobre outras pessoas, que eu admiro, e saber que sentem o mesmo, ajudou-me muito…Por isso aqui esta o meu contributo J

I took this photos a long time ago, just recently bleached my hair, when I took them I was trying to achive an especific effect on photos, with lots of soft ligh. But like everything in life, it just didn’t went acordding to plan. Ahaha

Lately I have been thinking how much we changed this year, me and Carina… When we created this blog I was a very different person, I saw the world from a different angle, a worse one i think…and mainly because I lacked confidence! To me everyone worked harder, were more creative, well in resume I just though everyone was better then me. So I guess that what really the problem, and took me a long time to realise how really bad that was. I always though I had to be perfect first(wich is ironic since i love imperfections), I had to be the best at everything and know everything before I really tryed them…and what I didnt realised was that by doing that, by being so hard with myself i never did anything, I actually wasnt living! I couldnt grow and everyday I was getting so much far away from my gold. And if Its good to criticize your own work, and to want always be to better, is very bad if you dont allow yourself to breath and just have fun.

when I started taking photos it was very difficult and painfull because i just didnt knew what to do and I was extremly shy! So things like dying my hair, trying a different style with my clothes or just going to a blog’s meeting was a really big step for me, that forced me to face my fears!

I am going to shut up, I promise ahaha, but what I really wanted to say is how much this blog helped me, how much Carina helps me everyday( she never lets me give up and pushes me to do things even when I am afraid)….and mostly how important it is to have confidence in yourself, it makes a big diference.

I am not going to say that is easy, because its not, and takes a lot of different things to make you actually get there, mainly a lot of facing your fears and do things you usually dont…and well its never actually there there for me ahaha since even writing this was hard, because I usually dont talk a lot about myself or my feelings, but reading about other people, who I admire, and knowing that they feel the same way, that everyone feels they are not enough at some point of their life, helped me a lot….So this is my contribute J

THE STORY OF OUR STARS

Eu e a Carina sempre gostamos muito da Disney, quando falamos disso e como influenciou a nossa infância, definitivamente mais a da Carina do que a minha, chego sempre á conclusão que a minha personagem preferida era a Esmeralda do Corcunda de Notre Dame( a seguir a Alice no país das maravilhas, claro). Nunca percebi muito bem porque, mas sempre gostei do que ela representava e achava-a muito bonita. Lembro-me de ter vários cadernos de colorir e como gostava de pintar as suas roupas.

Sempre gostei muito de roupa, quando era pequena desenhava muito, vestidos, saias, sapatos, depois recortava tecidos e fazia roupa para as barbies. O tempo passou, fui crescendo as barbies ficaram para trás, e deixei de fazer isso… mas ultimamente a vontade de experimentar e criar roupas voltou! Sempre que vejo um vídeo do stylelikeu e ouço a descrição das peças, a forma como algumas das pessoas falam dos tecidos e de como se sentem quando descobrem uma peça ou padrão como lhes afecta emocionalmente….fico sempre muito entusiasmada e com vontade de criar as minhas peças.

Ver esses vídeos e saber como há pessoas que sentem a roupa de forma tão emocional, que para elas é muito mais que uma peça de roupa é uma história, também tem mudado aos poucos a minha forma de vestir. Tem me ajudado a enfrentar alguns dos receios que tinha, arriscar mais,(como por exemplo nestas fotos, que estou a usar um roupão de dormir da oysho, como casaco haha) porque não interessa como os outros acham que te vêem (mesmo que tua mãe diga que parece que estas a sair de casa de pijama e te esqueces-te de vestir haha) o importante é como te sentes.

Carina and I always loved Disney when we talk about it and how it influenced our childhood, definitely more Carina's than mine, I always come to the conclusion that my favorite character was Emerald from The Hunchback of Notre Dame( Next to Alice in Wonderland, of course). Never quite understood why, but I always liked what she represented and found her beautiful. I remember having several coloring books and loved to paint her clothes.

I've always loved clothes, drew a lot when I was little, dresses, skirts, shoes, then cut out fabric and made clothes for barbies. Time passed, I grew up, lefted the barbies and stopped doing it ... but lately the desire to experiment and create clothes came again! Whenever I see a video from stylelikeu and hear a description of the clothes, the way some people speak of fabrics and how they feel when they discover a piece or pattern, the way it affects them emotionally .... I automatically feel very enthusiastic and want to create my own pieces.

See these videos and know how there are people who feel the clothes so emotionaly, that for them is much more than a piece of clothing is a story, has also made me gradually changed the way I dress. It has helped me to face some of the fears, to take more risks, (such as in these photos, that I'm wearing a sleeping robe from Oysho as coat haha) because no matter how others think they see you (even if your mother says that it seems that you are leaving the house in pyjamas and forgot to dress yourself haha) what is important is how you feel.

LATE BLOOMER

Eu costumava trazer sempre um livro comigo, fazia-me sentir segura. Agora trago um batom vermelho, óculos de sol e um espelho de viagem. Será por ser Verão ou porque já não tenho medo de ficar sozinha, à espera.

Sou só eu que sinto a mudança no ar? Entrei em pânico por momentos, porque as mudanças assustam-me. Ok acho que ainda estou ligeiramente em pânico, mas vai ficar tudo bem…certo?

You have no idea how difficult it has always been for me to have fun and just let go. I worry a lot. About me, things around me, the world.

I didn’t think I could do it until this past month, were I finally got a taste of what it is like to be my own age, do really stupid and reckless things, have fun and never want to stop for a second to catch my breath.

The thing is, now I don’t want to go back, I don’t want to be comfortable again and I’m kind of freaking out because I’m afraid if I start working I’ll miss it, life. How do people actually balance this?

SHORT SKIRTS, WHY GIRLS SHOULD WEAR THEM

Tenho vindo a adiar escrever este post á vários dias, porque sempre que dou por mim a escrever acabo por apagar tudo. Comprei esta saia a semana passada, um número acima do meu porque o meu tamanho era demasiado curto e não é a primeira vez que eu faço este tipo de coisas, no entanto quando a apertei ela ficou praticamente do tamanho daquela que eu me recusei a comprar e acabei a sentir-me tão mal com isso que senti que devia utilizar calções por baixo, apesar de não se ver nada.

É mesmo muito difícil expressar por palavras o poder que a roupa pode ter na vossa vida e a forma como ela pode mudar a maneira como os outros nos vêem.

Eu sinto-me oprimida por mim mesma a não usar determinadas coisas simplesmente pelo tipo de atenção que irá atrair apesar de gostar das coisas, e é uma noção muito negativa que surge do facto de eu como mulher não me sentir segura e livre para vestir o que quiser na rua.

A selecção de roupa, com base neste princípio, é algo que a maior parte de nós faz de forma inconsciente porque nos é incutida a noção de que nos devemos comportar e vestir assim, para que nada de mal aconteça. Ou seja, se formos violadas, a culpa é nossa, porque nos vestimos de forma demasiado provocadora, ou caminhamos de forma demasiado sexy, ou falamos demasiado alto, ou olhamos para um homem de forma errada.

Tenho a certeza que respirar também seria incluído nesta lista se suspirássemos demasiado.

Apercebi-me disto muito recentemente e fiquei furiosa porque é algo que controla a nossa vida, toma conta das nossas decisões diárias e é um receio que existe constantemente connosco. Está tão enraizado na nossa forma de ser que nem nos apercebemos, porque ouvimos isto desde crianças, somos educadas a pensar desta forma e é um padrão normal da nossa sociedade.

Nunca ninguém se lembrou de ensinar os homens a respeitar as mulheres, independentemente de quem são, de como se vestem, da idade ou do que fazem da vida? Porque seria muito mais fácil se partíssemos deste simples princípio.

Toda a gente julga as raparigas que saem á noite, com demasiada maquilhagem, grandes tacões e roupa minúscula. Dizem que só querem uma coisa e eu concordo: assumir controlo da sua própria vida, que caso não tenham reparado, nos pertence.

Temos direito a querer divertir-nos, seja dançar, beber ou estar com outra pessoa sem que nos julguem por sermos humanos, termos necessidades e emoções.

E é esta distinção entre homens e mulheres que se torna perigosa, porque somos diferentes mas merecemos ser respeitados de forma igual e o que vale para um também devia valer para outro, sem julgamentos de valor.

Eu uso mini saia porque gosto e me apetece, não é para chamar a atenção de ninguém, é porque me sinto bem dessa forma e/ou vai de acordo com o meu humor nesse dia, porque gosto muito de roupa independentemente da ideia de fútil que lhe é atribuída, é uma forma de expressão tão válida como qualquer outra.

I’ve been trying to write this post for several days now, but end up deleting everything I write because I really wanted to do this right. I bought this skirt a size to big the other day, just because my actual size was too short, and it’s not the first time I do this kind of thing. I felt quite distraught after sewing the skirt to fit my waist because it ended up to a size quite similar to the one I refused to buy for being to short.

Sometimes I feel that I oppress myself with so many damn rules, for the kind of attention some clothes might attract, and it’s a very negative notion knowing I can’t feel safe wearing what I want just because I’m a woman. We are taught to act, think a dress a certain way so that nothing bad will happen to us, which pretty much says that if we are rapped is our fault for acting or dressing a certain way.

Only recently did I realise how deep this affected my life, my daily actions and how much woman live in a constant state of fear, just for being themselves. Instead of repressing the heck out of us, no one ever though to simply teach men to respect woman, no matter what they are wearing, who they are, their age or what they do for a living. It would have been much simpler this way.

Everyone judges women for going out at night with too much make up, big high heels, and provocative clothes. They say they only want one thing, and I agree: taking control over their own lives, wich in case you haven’t noticed, kinda belongs to us.

We have the right to have fun, dance drink and being with someone without any judgement because just like men we are HUMAN BEINGS, and have emotions and needs. We should be respected equaly, ad what goes for men should also go for women, without these stupid double standards.

I wear a mini skirt because I like it, and feel like doing so. It’s not to call on anyone’s attention, it’s just becase I feel good this way and/or goes along with my mood that day. Also because I love clothes, and even though is considered as shallow, I feel like it’s a valid form of expression, just like any other.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO A.K.A. PEOPLE ARE STRANGE

Esta semana lançamos um novo vídeo. As coisas por aqui têm andado a um ritmo tão lento que demoramos vários dias até o mencionarmos aqui no blog, e parece ser a única coisa que falamos sempre que temos força para postar sobre algo novo. O que se passa com este verão que faz com que tudo ande a uma velocidade TÃO LENTA?

Ontem tudo o que conseguimos fazer foi passar o dia a aprender a Cup song, porque achávamos que era algo que valia a nossa energia e concentração (I regret nothing).

E como é óbvio, temos coisas mais importantes para fazer, como planear e construir os acessórios para as próximas shoots com mais duas bloggers (who shall remain nameless for now ). Mas arranjar espaço na cabeça para isso está a ser difícil K.

Relativamente ao vídeo, decidimos brincar com a enorme quantidade de vídeos de Haul que são feitos nos dias de hoje. Tenho de admitir que demorei algum tempo para entender o conceito deste género de vídeos, especialmente qual seria o interesse das pessoas de saber as coisas que ando a comprar. Mas depois percebi que era quase uma arte, e aplaudo quem tem a capacidade de descrever de uma forma tão específica e fundamentada uma compra tão simples como uma sombra para os olhos. A sério que não estou a tentar ser sarcástica e sinto-me quase culpada porque a única coisa que tenho a dizer sobre o assunto resume-se em: comprei isto porque achei bonito (e estava dentro do meu orçamento que é mais esprimido que um limão para fazer um jarro enorme de limonada).

Não me interessa a marca, as cores que se usam nesta estação (outra coisa que nunca consigo entender, não se pode usar as cores que queremos todas as estações? Quem é que decide estas coisas e porque é que prestamos sequer atenção?), etc..

Nós começamos por fazer um Haul de Agosto a brincar com o que costuma ser feito, utilizando coisas que tínhamos pela casa, mas a meio das filmagens apercebemo-nos que eramos uma dupla de hipócritas que no dia anterior tinha ido ás compras, e chegamos a casa cheias de sacos (e por cheias quero dizer dizer 4 sacos no total– “hey, big spender!”) por isso tentamos fazer um haul como deve de ser, ao qual falhamos porque não conseguimos levar nada disso asserio. Não consigo encarar as coisas que compro com tanta seriedade ao ponto de ser capaz de o explicar num vídeo, é algo que faço por gosto, impulso ou por necessidade, mas não deixo de admirar quem o faz porque nos dias de hoje é importante ter em atenção a quantidade e velocidade a que consumimos, que no momento da compra parece inofensivo mas a longo prazo e em grande escala tem graves efeitos negativos. Seja em termos de efeitos ambientais, apoio ao trabalho escravo e trabalho infantil em países do terceiro mundo, a violação dos direitos dos animais através de testes de produtos (e outras coisas terríveis que prefiro não mencionar).

Mas este vídeo não foi feito sobre isso, foi sobre sermos todos tolinhos. As pessoas fazem coisas tão estranhas e patetas, com tanta legitimidade e seriedade que as vezes me deixam perturbada (como passar um dia inteiro a tentar aprender e tocar a cup song *cof cof*). Nunca ninguém se pergunta porque fazemos o que fazemos?

As pessoas são mesmo aleatórias e estranhas.

This week we made another video, but things have been so damn slow around here that it took us a long time to actually post it here (that’s why you should subscribe, even though the videos are in Portuguese we throw a pretty good amount of English expressions around so there’s the slight possibility you might understand 30% of what we are saying xD).

Yesterday was so productive we spend the entire da learning and playing the cup song (I regret nothing!).

We’re supposed to be working on our next scheduled shoots we two awesome bloggers (who shall remain nameless for now).

Regarding this video, I’ll sum it up for those who don’t speak Portuguese, but it’s basically a joke Haul video. It kinda took me a while to understand why anyone would actually care what kind of stuff I bought, and how the hell did anyone had so much to say about a single eye shadow (seriously, I just buy it cause it’s pretty (and usually pretty cheap too, since I’m broke most of the time)).

So we started by making fun of it, then we realised what a bunch of assholes we both were, since we had gone on a shopping spree just the day before. So we tried to do a legit haul video, and failed because really, it’s just clothes people, does anyone care? Not unless they actually bought them for themselves. I can’t talk serious about this, because I don’t give it much though, I like something and if I can afford it, I buy it (I don’t do this every week, just now and then, if I need cheering up, or have to buy specific things that were too old and ragged to wear anymore). Of course there’s a huge amount of responsibility that comes with buying things in large quantities and at such a fast pace, so you should give it some thought.

But this video wasn’t about that, it was mainly about being silly. People do silly things while trying to go about their daily lives (like spending an entire day playing the damn cup song), we as a species are a strange bunch. And that’s what this was about!
