Time to be a movie critic! This post was supposed to be for the new year, to welcome 2012 and look back on how many movies I've watched in 2011! A lot of movies suck these days but some were nice too.

(YAY means good movies, NAY means not so good and KAY means movies that were so-so.The number of exclamation marks also indicate how good or how bad the movie was.)

1. Black Swan (YAY!!!)
An awesome psychological thriller about a paranoid ballerina who achieves perfection at the end. I watched this twice and it was still awesome the second time!! Would totally watch it again. Yay for Natalie Portman!

2. All's Well End's Well 2011 (NAY)
Funny, but not really worth watching. I can't really remember what it was actually about, other than the movie being about make-up and love.

3. No Strings Attached (YAY)
A story about two friends who have sex with each other but are trying to just stay friends. It was good because the script was cute and funny. Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher were awesome.

4. Gnomeo and Juliet (NAY)
A stupid movie. There are two different groups of gnomes who hate each other, and they belong to gardens of neighbours who hate each other. Gnomeo and Juliet fall in love and meet each other secretly and also make friends with a pink flamingo. All of them fight but instead of everyone dying like in the actual Romeo and Juliet, Gnomeo and Juliet actually get married. It's so lame that I don't even think kids would enjoy watching this movie.

5. Rango (NAY)
Watched it for Johnny Depp but was disappointed. It got draggy and a little boring that at some point, I was just waiting for the lizard to save the day.

6. Hop (NAY)
Watched it for the cute bunny! Other than that, the movie was about the Easter bunny's son who preferred playing the drums and didn't wanna succeed him as the Easter bunny and in the end, the human gets the job. Kinda dumb.

7. Limitless (NAY)
After the watching the trailer I thought it'd be cool to watch a movie about eating some kind of drug that allows you to operate at full capacity and use all of your brain or whatever. Half way through the movie, it looked like using the drug wasn't such a good idea after all. But oh wait, at the end, the guy was so smart and had so much foresight and everything that he's already producing a lot more of the drug so that he can keep on consuming it to be awesome. Moral of the story? Do drugs to be awesome. Like, seriously? What a disappointing movie.

8. Love and Other Impossible Pursuits (NAY)
Natalie Portman stars as a woman who previously had an affair with a married man and therefore became the stepmother of their son. It is all very depressing because she still hasn't gotten over the death of her daughter, who died when she was only a few days old. She thought she killed her own baby and blamed herself for smothering her daughter with her breasts, which wasn't what happened. Later in the movie things start to look up and she starts to get along with her stepson. Whatever, can't really remember. Don't watch it unless you like depressing movies.

9. Rio (YAY!)
Yay I love this movie! It's about Blu! He was captured by poachers but luckily his crate fell out of the truck and he gets rescued. His owner later brings him to Rio to meet another female blue bird so that they can mate, because there're part of an endangered species. They have to escape stupid animal smugglers again and they meet 2 smaller birds (who can sing), a toucan and a dog. And Blu's owner falls in love with the guy who studies birds and who was responsible for persuading her to go to Rio in the first place. In the end, they escape from the stupid smugglers and Blu finally is able to fly! And they have a family for small blue birds! Yay for Rio!! The music is super nice too, I downloaded the soundtrack :)

10. Thor (KAY)
The best bits were when Thor visits the human world and doesn't really know how to behave properly. Thor and Jane (Natalie Portman) fall in love and stuff but when Thor goes back to Asgard to stop his brother and set things right, he had to destroy the bridge so he can't go back to Earth. But since Jane is a scientist she'll find a way, so it's okay. It's a predictable movie.

11. Beastly (NAY!!)
This movie SUCKS. It's about this guy who's all like, "Look at me! Hell yeah I'm handsome, popular and rich, so I'm pretty much a big deal." So Mary-Kate Olsen is the witch who's all like "Ugh you're so annoying, I'mma turn you into a weird looking tattooed man." but honestly, her spell wasn't really awesome because he didn't become beastly or anything, and he even got awesome tattoos which were able to move when the seasons changed. In order to break the spell, he has to find someone who truly loves him. So cliche. Then the stupid idiot gets all emo and stuff, then he starts liking Vanessa Hudgens and stalks her and then saves her and gets her to move in with him. He gives her a love letter but after that he gets all emo and thinks that she treats him only as a good friend, but she's all like, "No, stupid, I love you too" and she leaves for some school trip. The spell is broken and he regains his looks, then the girl is all like, "Okay I've changed my mind, I don't wanna go for the school trip anymore even though it's all I've been talking about", and so she looks around but she can't find her tattooed boyfriend and she doesn't believe the arrogant handsome guy so she calls him on his cellphone and realises that the arrogant handsome guy was the her tattooed boyfriend and so they kiss. Okay, I know there's a moral to this story but come on, this movie is totally BORING because it mainly shows this arrogant guy being emo and lonely. Beauty and the Beast was so much better. Best part of the movie was the last scene, which shows Mary-Kate who's gonna do the same to that guy's arrogant dad. Yay!

12. Paul (NAY)
Basically a movie about this funny, vulgar alien named Paul who was captured and confined in Area 51. He escapes and meets these two nerds and later on a woman who's super religious at first. Eventually they escape all the people who were coming after them and Paul returns to his home planet. It's a funny movie but it's stupid and not meaningful at all.

13. Water for Elephants (NAY!)
Omg this movie SUCKED. They ruined the novel! Trust Edward Cullen, oh I mean Robert Pattinson, to ruin everything. I'm not going to elaborate on what the movie is about and how they had changed certain parts of the story and how they didn't include certain parts or characters which they should have included. I'm just going to say: READ THE BOOK, DON'T WATCH THE MOVIE.

14. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (YAY)
Yay Johnny Depp! He's always so awesome as Captain Jack Sparrow. This movie isn't linked to the previous POTC movies. It's basically about searching for the fountain of youth. Okay, maybe some people are getting bored of POTC but to me it never gets old! And I'd prefer movies like this rather than long, draggy POTC movies which keep you in suspense until the next movie.

15. Kungfu Panda 2 (YAY!)
Omg hahaha I love Kungfu Panda! He's so funny and fat! And in this movie we learn about his past and saw his cute younger self! And he was found in a radish crate! No wonder his father is a goose! Oh yeah, and in the end the panda was able to achieve inner peace so he kicks the peacock's butt!! YAY!!^^ I just hope they don't go overboard with the third movie.

16. X-Men First Class (KAY)
I can remember this one, so this movie was quite okay. The prequel starts with people being cruel in WWII and after that the good mutants get together while the bad mutants are planning to destroy the world via the Cuban Missile Crisis. In the end Magneto kills the evil dude who had killed his mother (Yay), and becomes the leader of the evil side (Boo). No wonder Professor X always sits in a wheelchair.

17. Green Lantern (KAY)
Why so many movies about superheroes? Another OK movie. It starts with this alien who's a green lantern who dies and chooses this human to be the next green lantern. He plays with his lantern and ring, meets other green lanterns like Sinestro who's all like, "Eww, a human! He's probably weak. Let's get this big tough alien to train with him." And the human green lantern was all like, "Whatevs, I quit!" While that was going on, this scientist gets to examine the dead alien body but this yellow thing causes him to have super powers and go crazy. Anyway, the yellow thing is controlled by this ugly thing called Parallax and the Guardians were all like, "Kay let's create this yellow ring in order to get rid of the yellow substance and Parallax.", but the human green lantern was all like, "Noo, I'mma kill Parallax by bringing it towards the sun so that it can BURN." Then Parallax is gone and everyone's happy! Or not, because at the end Sinestro puts the yellow ring on his finger and starts looking evil.

18. Hangover Part 2 (NAY!!)
GROSS. And very pointless. There is no point to everything that happens and these guys never learn. Oh and did I say that the movie was gross?

19. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (KAY)
Does this movie need any further explanation? Like all the other Harry Potter movies, it doesn't live up to the books but it was okay I guess. It wasn't as boring as Prisoner of Azkaban or Order of the Phoenix, but it wasn't as good as the first two movies (Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets) either. And if you haven't read the books, don't talk as if you know shit because you're not a real fan.

20. Bridesmaids (KAY)
Okay, the main character is a lady who becomes the maid of honour for her best friend's wedding. She used to own a bakery too and she meets a guy who loves her baking and they obviously end up together. Anyway, she screwed up as the maid of honour and this bitch takes over but in the end everyone apologises to one another and everything turned out fine. Yay! Typical story about friendship but at least it was funny and kinda meaningful.

21. Captain America: The First Avenger (KAY)
Another superhero film. So this scrawny looking dude wants to enlist in the army and serve the nation or whatsoever real bad, but he got rejected until this random doctor allowed him to enlist. An experiment is performed on him and scrawny dude becomes bigger and more muscular. He was made a lame icon for a while until he rescues some soldiers. Then they give him a pretty shield and he goes on another mission. At the end he wakes up in an old looking room with a radio, runs out and finds out that he's been sleeping for a super long period of time. Oh yeah and of course there has to be a pretty lady officer whom the protagonist falls for. Can't really remember what the Nazis were up to.

22. Cowboys and Aliens (NAY!!!)
You know the movie sucks when you start shifting in your seat and wondering if it's ever going to be over. A totally predictable movie. I mean, come on, from the title you already know that it's about a bunch of cowboys fighting against aliens. No prizes guessing who would win this fight.

23. Zookeeper (YAY)
I enjoyed this feel good movie. Somehow it was so nice and funny to watch a bunch of animals trying to help the zookeeper with his love life. It was expected that the zookeeper would eventually realise that he wasn't happy with what that woman was turning him into, and he wasn't happy being with her either. Yay, happy ending for him and all the animals who get their zookeeper back!

24. Crazy Stupid Love (YAY)
Okay there're too many characters to talk about so I'm not gonna tell you what the movie was about, but it was definitely crazy and funny! The best scene was when the husband was trying to get his wife back with the help of his kids but everyone else comes over and everything is revealed and it was all chaotic.

25. Smurfs (NAY!)
I honestly thought that this movie would be good! It turned out to be as lame as Alvin and the Chipmunks, where you have a super lame plot and you see animated characters running around in the real world, causing trouble for the humans. Such lame movies are really not worth watching.

26. A Little Bit of Heaven (NAY!)
Omg this movie is so dumb as well. As if we don't have enough cliche movies about people dying from terminal illnesses.

27. 1911 (NAY)
So disappointed with Jackie Chan. I was so excited for this movie! It's Jackie Chan's 100th film and also the 100th anniversary of the 1911 revolution! I thought I'd actually get to learn something about the revolution and at the same time watch Jackie Chan in action but noo, this movie was so boring and messy that they didn't have a proper storyline. They just show you random scenes and throw a bunch of historical facts at you. The movie doesn't do the revolution, or Jackie Chan, any justice at all.

28. Friends With Benefits (YAY)
See No. 3, except this time it's Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake. They should stop making movies about the same thing, though.

29. Change Up (NAY)
Okay, this is precisely what I was talking about. If they continue making movies about the same thing, it'll definitely get old. I mean, how many shows are there about people switching bodies? Then they start to appreciate their own lives and they also appreciate the other person better. Okay whatever, we've seen enough here, time to move on.

30. What's Your Number (KAY)
This lady reads some shit in a magazine and realises that she had slept with 20 men and is probably unlikely to meet someone new who would be the one for her or something, so she tries to find all these 20 guys and see if they're right for her. She has the help of her male neighbour and they fall in love. Typical. At the end, one of her ex boyfriends calls to tell her that they never had sex, so her neighbour was actually her 20th and yay, she didn't go beyond 20. Okay, this is more like a movie that'd make people go like "Meh, whatevs" but at least it was funny.

31. One Day (NAY!)
Watched this because of Anne Hathaway but this movie seriously sucks. I heard it was good but I really don't get it. I mean, what's so nice about this movie? It's just about this guy and girl who graduated from the same school and they'd meet up once a year or something. The girl likes the guy but he's such an asshole and a flirt and a playboy or whatsoever. She tries to not like the guy by dating this other guy, but it didn't work out because that other guy could tell that she didn't really like him back. So the girl is mainly sad and whiny in the movie because the guy she likes is a douchebag. Then the jerk gets married because he got some woman pregnant but that woman had an affair so they got a divorce. After what seemed like a century, that idiot finally wakes up and realises that she's the one for him and they get married. And at this point I was like thinking "OMG FINALLY! The movie will end happily soon." They try to have their own baby and stuff but suddenly she gets hit by a truck while cycling home and she dies. WTF. So meaningless.

32. Footloose (KAY)
I don't know how the original 1984 film was like, but this one was like some movie on Disney channel. Like, "Do what you love! Follow your heart! Dance wherever and whenever you want to! Be free!" or some message like that. Basically a bunch of teenagers died in a car crash after partying, so dancing was banned. When the new kid moves into town, he finds it ridiculous and tries to change things. Quite a normal movie. Nothing special. The music wasn't even catchy.

33. You Are the Apple of My Eye (YAY!!!)
SUPER AWESOME MOVIE! It's so nice and cute and funny and everything!! It only thing that was a little disappointing was that the main characters did not get together in the end! But it's okay since the guy genuinely felt happy for her at her wedding and went to kiss the groom (LOL). The movie totally reminds me of secondary school days. A MUST WATCH.

34. Puss in Boots (YAY!!)
PUSS IS SO CUTE AS A SMALL KITTY! HE AND KITTY SOFTPAWS ARE SO CUTE TOGETHER! I WANNA WATCH AGAIN!

35. Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 (NAY!!!!)
UGH why did I even watch this? We just ended up laughing at the movie. Jacob is all like "WTH Bella's gonna have sex with Edward while she's still a human? Dangerous shit!" Bella and Edward get married and after having sex Edward is like, "Look at those bruises!" but Bella's all like "It's okay, I like it rough" (HAHAHA quoted from Whatthebuck) Anyway she gets pregnant which is gross and she becomes all bony. Oh and there's the whole Werewolves vs. Vampires thing and the Jacob vs. Werewolves thing and whatsoever. Bella's bent on keeping the baby and has to drink blood and later she's thought to be dead but Edward bites her numerous times and she eventually becomes a vampire. LAME. Twilight is probably the most pointless story in the entire universe.

36. Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked (NAY!)
Omg I feel like I've just talked about this! See No. 25. The chipmunks and the chipettes get stuck on an island but later they are saved and as always, the movies ends with the chipmunks and chipettes singing and dancing on the stage. Boring!

37. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (YAY!)
Sherlock Holmes is just so awesome. The action, plot, and the witty dialogue: they have it all. What more can I say?

Whew that was a long post. I've watched so many movies! Maybe I should less movies this year. But I like watching movies with my friends anyway, even if the movies suck.

(late birthday post)

I turned 19 on December 13 this year.

When I was 18, I had new experiences.

I got my first job. (Relief teaching)
I was the top arts student. (Tyco)
I got 2 scholarship rejections.
I had stomach flu for the first time. (I don't wanna keep vomiting like a Merlion EVER AGAIN!)
I got into NUS. (Uni life is so different!)
I went overseas with my friends for the first time. (School trips not counted)
I went to KL/ Langkawi/ Genting/ Cameron Highlands for the first time.
I went to JB/ Hong Kong not for the first time, but the first time in a long time. (I can't remember overseas trips I had with my family when I was little)
I gave private tuition for the first time.
I survived on my own money and did not have an allowance for the first time. (Until I became seasonally unemployed).

I think that's it. I liked being 18!

Been going out almost everyday during my birthday month. Exhausted but joyful.

Edit: People keep telling me that they smsed me to wish my happy birthday but if I didn't reply, it means that I didn't receive your message because I was in KL. Thanks to those who tried to sms me anyway! Let me know if you did so that I can thank you personally as well!

Then to KL after we're done with the farms there! Can't wait!!!

You should all remember to wish me a happy birthday even though I won't be in Singapore!

8/12: Met Michelle at Orchard! Yeap, I went to town again, but this time it was to shop! Took 190 there and along the highway it rained and suddenly it stopped. Random weather. We were supposed to meet at Far East Plaza and when I reached it wasn't raining yet, but it started pouring when she reached so she was stuck at Orchard MRT! I took a bus to join her there. After having lunch we were about to go shopping when she heard about this rumour that SNSD was shopping at Ion so we went all over the mall trying to look for them but to no avail. It was strange that we searched the entire place but we didn't even see a crowd of k-pop fans or anything like that, so perhaps it wasn't true. Or maybe we were just unlucky.

So I told Michelle that when a bunch of us from PJC went to Bintan on the CIP trip last year, we supposedly saw Taeyeon when we were waiting in line to board the ferry. According to the k-pop fans present at the scene who were freaking out, she was the lady wearing huge sunglasses and hiding behind a pillar. When we boarded the ferry there were not enough empty seats for all of us to be seated together, so we went around looking for seats and had to be separated. Jiaying and I got aisle seats and she sat in front of me. We sat next to strangers, whom I didn't really bother taking a look at. Again, according to the k-pop fans who came up to be after we had arrived in Singapore, they said that I sat next to Taeyeon's brother (and beside him was their little sister).

This piece of information obviously did not really excite me very much as it excited them, and they were all squealing and saying that I was very lucky.

I think Taeyeon's brother was the lucky one, since his luck allowed him to not have a hyperventilating k-pop fan sitting next to him during the ferry ride.

Speaking of k-pop, the whole issue about Adeline Chua's article, "Sick of the K-pop cult", is really amusing to me.

I digress. Anyway, Michelle was pretty fascinated with my story since she's such a fan and she told me that she was going for their concert. After our search and a bit of shopping, she went off for work at MBS and I lingered around Ion alone. Shopping alone is fun in a weird way because you can pretend to be some rich girl. At least, that's how I felt when I was approached three times by different sales assistants in a single shop, who kept asking me if I needed any help. I awkwardly left the shop after being approached by the third person, and decided to go to Ngee Ann City instead.

I finally bought some stuff there and as I stood on the escalator on the way down , I saw Lena and Xueying one level below! I knew that they were in Taka since I messaged Xy who told me that she was in town with Lena, but I didn't mean to actually meet them. I guess it was fate, and it was nice to have company anyway. The three of us walked to Far East Plaza. We went to a Thai restaurant where they had their dinner while I had a drink. KK arrived when the girls were about to leave (awesome timing), and I had dinner with him there at the same place. (Which was kinda funny because I left the restaurant and went back in almost straight away.)

Such a nice and random day ♥

30/11: Watched You Are the Apple of My Eye/ 那些年，我们一起追的女孩 with KK! Super nice!

1/12: Went to collect KK's race pack. Had to wait in line for an hour at MBS. Met the clique (Yingwei, Xueying, Elena and Justin) straight after. Ate at MOF. Watched Puss in Boots at Marina Square. SO CUTE! I love all the cute cats at the cat bar!!! Oh yeah and Yingwei spelt Puss in Boots as Piss in Butt HAHAHA so funny!^^

3/12: Had PastaMania for lunch. Watched Breaking Dawn with Shiya and Ama at Cineleisure. The movie was so lame!! Hahaha we were laughing in the cinema especially at the end. We had nothing to do after buying stuff at Muji so I suggested that we could go to the library since I was planning to drop by on the way home. Borrowed two books from CCK library.

4/12: Watched You Are the Apple of My Eye again! This time on YouTube at home and with my sister. We watched it until 2am. Since I wasn't sleeping that night, it was a great way to keep me awake! It also ended just in time for me to prepare and leave the house before 3am. Accompanied KK to Orchard where the start of the Standard Chartered Marathon was.

After that it was just a matter of waiting. Which was why I had brought my library books to read but after a while I couldn't take it anymore so I fell asleep. Then I went to wait for KK and his friend at the finishing line which was at the Padang. They took a little longer than expected, resulting in a suntan for me. I know I've always wanted a tan, but I didn't think I'd get a tan in this way. A lot of strangers came to talk to me as well, which was kinda weird. Like, why is everyone so nice and friendly? So unlike in NUS. Anyway, I was glad that he completed his 42km run. Had lunch together before going home to sleep like a pig.

While waiting I explored the empty Ion Orchard and thought of how easy it was to steal. Then I realised that what I had just thought of was exactly what Fleur Talbot thought of in Loitering With Intent. That amused me. But it was fun loitering around Orchard by myself, and of course I didn't steal. I just thought that if I were some kind of shopaholic, I would be tempted to break the glass of certain branded shops to steal. But I wasn't a shopaholic and I wasn't a fan of branded goods. Actually, when I thought of how easy it was to steal, it was because at the first level of Ion I paused in front of cute Christmas decorations, thinking of how easily I could steal the ornaments left on display. But I didn't steal them because it was wrong; they just looked cute and I had no use for them. Anyway there probably were cameras and it would be lame to get caught just for stealing a cute little angel or something.

Nah, I'm kidding. It's just wrong to steal.

I've been to town so many times that perhaps it would be easier if I could just live there.

Anyway, I've been hibernating in my cave ever since the marathon. I'm about to leave the cave in order to return this library book that's due today. I had used for my lit essay which, sadly, did not get me an A. But it is a very useful book: The Theatre of the Absurd by Martin Esslin.

My favourite month because exams are always over by this time, so there's always no school! And there's my birthday, Christmas, a brand new year to look forward to.

Some lyrics to suit my mood!

Maybe it's just me, couldn't you believe
That everything I said and did wasn't just deceiving?
And the tear in your eye and your calm hard face
Makes me wish that I was never brought into this place
- Maybe, by Secondhand Serenade

Is it me? Am I so complicated?
Is it me? Or is love over-rated?
Is it me? 'Cause I don't quite understand
Why it never turns out how I thought I planned

Is it me? Am I too independent?
Is it me? Not ready for commitment?
Is it me? 'Cause it doesn't seem to last
And it's the only question that I never asked
- Is It Me, by Stacie Orrico

This post makes no sense but who cares.

Everything doesn't make sense to me now. Come to think of it, in the past I was accused of being a hardhearted person just because perhaps I didn't show my sadness and I could control my emotions better. And I kept the fact that I was supposedly in a relationship with a guy from my parents. So they didn't know and because they didn't know they couldn't care. But now I somehow can't do that anymore and suddenly I'm more like a crybaby. And my family knows and they do care, but in the most annoying and stupid way (especially my mum) because they don't know anything other than the fact that I'm in a relationship. It's so stupid. I'd rather be seen as an unemotional human being than to be annoyed with my own emotions and tears and family. I don't know how to go back to being like that, though.

Uni life sucks I don't like having to sit for exams after 4 months of learning shit but not yet mastering the shit. I mean, at least for A levels we have 2 years to master the shit we learn. This is nothing like A levels. I mean, just look at the history module that I'm supposed to be studying for right now, as an example. We have to not only learn JC history stuff (like nationalism and decolonization in SEA and Japan's economic miracle and the Korean war) but also a lot other things (like the pre-modern Asia and rise of Meiji Japan and the fall of imperial China and nationalism in East Asia and old imperialism and Indochina Wars and democratization and colonization/ nationalism in India etc.)

Omg I seriously don't know how to study for this module :(

How to get to school for a class at 9am:

Wake up at 6.30am.

Leave the house at 7.30am. (Yay, half an hour early!)

Think that you're going to be early for tutorial unlike previous weeks.

Step out of lift. It rains. Heavily.

Wait at the bus stop for the bus.

Oh, I meant wait at the crowded corridor near the bus stop. The bus stop is too full so you'd have to wait in line with other in the corridor. Also, don't forget to use your umbrella to shelter yourself from the heavy rain that is being blown into the corridor by the wind.

Wait. And wait. And wait.

All hopes of being early are gone.

Now you can only hope to be on time.

Half an hour later, four buses come at the same time.

The first bus doesn't even stop because it's too full.

Forget about boarding the second bus, since the people at the bus stop are all trying to get up the bus.

Board the third bus! Use your umbrella to shelter yourself from the rain. Everyone else with umbrellas is doing the same. Avoid being poked by their umbrellas.

Get to the MRT station. Unfortunately, you'd have to wait for 6 minutes for the next train.

And obviously it's supremely packed, so you can't get in.

Board the second train. It's just a 2 minute wait - it's not like you've already wasted 36 minutes of your life, right?

Alight at Jurong East and wait for the train that will bring you to Clementi.

The first two trains are too full. As you watch the trains come and go, a bunch of people from the other platform you had alighted from rushes over as well.

Get annoyed. It really makes you feel that you could've gotten up half an hour later without having to wait for the bus, and board the train which came after the one you had taken, since you'd end up in the same position anyway.

Board when the third train comes. (Total waiting time: 45 minutes)

Hope that you can make it in time! Or at least, be less than 15 minutes late.

Walk to the bus interchange. At least bus 96 never disappoints.

You're late for class. It's inevitable but hey, at least you've tried. Now that you've realised that it sometimes takes almost 2 hours to get to school during peak hour in the mornings (instead of the usual one hour), you'd have to adjust your alarm clock and wake up at 6am.

Go home and type a blog entry about it to laugh and see how ridiculous this is.

Is that true?)

Can you even believe the title of this post?

I suddenly kinda miss PJC. This realisation is quite unbelievable, since I've always hated the school. I hated the system. I didn't like some of the teachers. (Those who were annoying, unreasonable and judgmental. They basically made JC life more difficult than it should be) I hated the culture. School hours were long. I hated studying. I was reluctant to go for consultations.

And yet, I miss school?

I guess it's because I'm still not used to university life. I don't like how big the campus is. Even though NUS is much smaller than NTU, I still don't like it. I like the fact that since primary school, we just go to this small school building. You can get from one end of the school to another in a few minutes. You don't have to wait around for buses, or walk under the hot sun just to get to some other faculty.

I don't like that uni life is more unpredictable. Back in school, we belonged to a class and we had a classroom. I liked that. In uni, I feel like a nomad. I mean, even though we also move from class to class in JC, but since the school is small it isn't so bad. And we could just use any empty classroom.

Also, back in JC, the teachers spoon fed us a lot. I guess I got used to it. But I mean, in uni, there are so many readings to do! And nobody is there to tell you what the important points are, what to look out for in the readings, or even how to write an essay. To me, it's more like independent learning. Which is fine, but really, I don't know whether I'm doing something right or whether I'm focusing on the wrong stuff.

So yeah. We have to be independent. There isn't a friend who would have the exact same timetable as you do. I guess I really liked the having a class. At least you'd see the same faces. In uni, you'd see one friend for an hour and then you'd have a different friend for the next two hours. Besides, how does one actually build a friendship with someone new when you spend most of that hour sitting together, side by side, listening to the professor?

Lessons in uni are most definitely interesting. But the workload is crazy. The stuff we have to do in uni is so much more than what was expected from us in JC. Not only that, but we also have to participate in class and also on the forum. I mean, jeez. Cut us some slack! We already have to write essays and get projects done. Contributing to the forum is like a mini essay/project as well, since people tend to sound smart and they always write so much. And other students love to fight for the chance to speak up, even when they don't sound smart in any way.

I went down for a run at the canal on Saturday, and it definitely brings back memories. We had lame walks (or were they actually runs?) at the canal as part of certain school events. We sometimes went for a run there during PE. The first time we visited the canal was during the very first lit lesson, and we went there to compose poetry.

Before going to school this morning I merely told her that she hadn't given me my allowance so we talked about money and she gave me some. I thought everything was settled but when I came back from school in the afternoon, she starts nagging, claiming that she was hurt because I was comparing my friends get and the amount of money I receive from her. Like, what? What I meant was that compared to other people, I don't spend as much, so I'm not even asking for much. And anyway, since she always thinks that she's very fair to her children, she should give me the same amount of money she gave to my sister when my sister was in year 1. But noo, she says that at that time she was working for her rich patient and since she isn't working now, she has no money. Fine, whatever. I accept that life is unfair. She started nagging and saying the same old stuff about how my father doesn't give her money and she's paying for everything and how all his bills are so high, blah blah blah, and so I just quoted her and said that she was "suay lor", since she likes to complain that she had married the wrong man. Then she gets all annoyed and says that I shouldn't say that she's "suay". What the hell. Seriously? I haven't said anything wrong! Then she continues with her stupid monologue. If there was a play written about my family, it'd probably be very boring. I mean, imagine the setting to be in a cluttered living room. Most of the verbal space would be given to my mother, who would have her own monologue and the monologue would contain a lot of repetition. And she'd be walking around the stage all the time doing the housework while she carries on with her monologue, while the other characters slowly enter one by one and just spend their time watching tv, reading or using the laptop/ computer, ignoring the monologue unless they are being spoken to. All the characters would occasionally have a few lines and conversations with each other but other than that my mother would be doing the most talking. And there would be stupid pointless arguments revolving around similar topics between the mother and father. Omg. It's starting to sound like some existential play by Pinter. I think I'm PMSing.

I was preallocated two exposure modules of my choice (Economics and History), managed to get all my modules at one bid point each and all of my first five tutorial choices for the 5 modules.

Lectures started last Thursday. It was quite a smooth first day. Attended the Japanese Studies lecture with Lynn and Elena, collected my tertiary ezlink card and visited Elena's hostel.

I had no lectures on Friday so my second day was on Monday and it was such a crappy day. I woke up later than I had planned to and rushed to school. It started pouring and I had to use my flimsy umbrella and walk through the rain quickly. There were others rushing for the econs lecture too, and we were like splashing water as we crossed the road. My pretty black shoes got super wet! So did my socks and jeans. I found Elena in the LT and after the lecture we had lunch together. It was a super cold day and I forgot to charge my phone so it died on me. Oh, and I was sick (I still am) so I kept coughing. Elena crashed my class which was about world religions, and we went to the Central Library's Co-op to buy our textbooks. I had to buy 5 books and before that I collected my Japanese Studies course pack, so after paying for the books my bag was so heavy that it made me feel like a turtle. By the end of the day, I felt like dying. Sucks to be sick. I cancelled tuition and went straight home to dump all my books there and rest.

My third day wasn't so bad. I was a little late for lit lecture but I didn't miss anything important and I've already gotten all my books. Happened to meet Pamela outside the LT for history lecture so we went in together. It was quite an uneventful school day but I'd prefer days like this.

I have to get used to uni life and the amount of readings that I have to plough through.

In other news...

I went for the NDP Preview on the 30th of last month thanks to 2 free tickets from Shiya. Her brother is in Scouts so he's in the parade and she was already going for the NE show so she didn't want those tickets. Anyway, the NDP Preview was pretty awesome. The show was really nice and so were the fireworks!

Went window shopping with Yingwei and Xueying at Orchard and after that we agreed to meet up on another day and go to the gym because we have been unhealthy people who do not exercise. So we did that two days later on a Friday but we still didn't exercise much.

Visited my Ah Gong at Kwong Wai Shui with my mum and sis. 2 of my uncles were there and so were my cousins. I haven't seen them in the longest time it was kinda weird to me.

Spent National Day with KK, Paul, ZJ, Shaun, Nigou and JS. Happened to run into Steven when we went to the arcade at Plaza Sing. Watched "Cowboys and Aliens" at The Cathay. It was predictable and it got a little boring. I don't understand why people sitting behind us sounded scared, as if the aliens would somehow come out of the screen and kill them. We walked around and tried to find a good spot to watch the fireworks from, but somehow failed. Managed to watch part of the fireworks -- the other part was blocked by the trees.

Watched "Zookeeper" with Yingwei and Justin at Cineleisure. It was hilarious! Went window shopping as well and had lunch at this place called Medzs. It's at Orchard Central and it's like Marché and Shokudo, but they serve Mediterranean food instead.

Oh, and I finally got to meet Melina! Now I know how to restring and tune my sister's guitar all thanks to her. Yay awesome! Also, I went to Borders to search for my lit books but I could only find one! I got it anyway since I had the Borders voucher which was given to me by PJC.

Oh yeah, many people (who are females) have been telling me that they like my "Girly" post! Haha yay thanks! It feels nice to know that people actually read and like the rubbish that I type. It would be nicer if people actually commented.

As I was typing this post, my computer screen went fuzzy. And my dad just made some weird noises in his sleep. Omg so werid. Maybe I should go to sleep now.

Reader discretion is advised.

Some people say that I'm girly, yet some people say that I'm not. I guess it depends on what your definition of girly is. Based on what some people think, being girly means what you're vain and you act like a princess. And your favourite colour is probably pink. (Stupid, stereotypical image of girls)

But the world is changing and sometimes guys are girly too. They can be vainer and bitchier than girls. The lines are blurred so I don't think that definition applies anymore.

Just for fun, I'm gonna make a list of why people think that I'm girly and why not. (And also because I'm quite free since both my tuition lessons got cancelled tomorrow.)

Girly? Not really.

I don't put on make-up.

People associate girls with make-up. (Obviously.) But since I don't put on make-up, people think that I'm not girly or vain. There are two reasons as to why I don't. The first reason is because I'm lazy. Putting on make-up is probably a tedious process. You have buy cosmetics, which probably cost a lot. Then you'd have to practice applying it onto your face and stare at yourself in the mirror. You'd have to wake up earlier to put on make-up before going out as well.

I can't. I'm too lazy. I can't be bothered to do any of this.

The second reason as to why I don't put on make-up is that I don't know how to. And I can't really be bothered to learn. (Refer to the first reason as stated above.) But I guess I'll still have to learn, someday. So that I can put on make-up for formal occasions and stuff.

(I know I mentioned in a previous blog post that maybe I should learn how to put on make-up or something, but obviously I still haven't gotten around to doing so. Hahaha yes, I'm that lazy.)

I find that shopping is a chore.

Even some guys enjoy shopping a lot more than I do. But shopping really is a chore. I mean, when I was in primary school or something, my parents used to bring the family out every Saturday and we'd go shopping at Orchard. Or at People's Park. (So that my mother can shop at OG and my father can shop at Sim Lim Square. They'd quarrel almost every Saturday, too.) Anyway, it was torture. It was boring. It was tiring. We'd walk around until my feet hurt. I'd ask if we could go home, and I'd sit down whenever I could.

Shopping with friends is still okay. It's more enjoyable because we'd talk about all kinds of things while we shop. So I treat it more like an outing to spend time with my (girly) friends and a form of exercise (because of all that walking). And obviously if I see something I want and if I have enough money, I'd buy it. But other than that, shopping really is a chore. It's about walking around aimlessly (unless you know exactly what you want and where to get it) until you see something nice, which is time consuming and tiring.

No offence to people who love shopping!!

I eat whatever I want, especially fried food.

I love to eat unhealthy food. There's a line from Savage Garden's song, "Affirmation", which goes "I believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you." And it is so true. I love junk food. I love potato chips and fries (and basically all kinds of cooked potatoes actually) and soft drinks. I love salty stuff. I like the seasoning in mamee noodle snacks and MSG. I love putting a lot of salt on my friends in McDonald's and in Carl's Junior, where they provide salt and like you put as much as you want. I like the skin of fried chicken.

So what? Big deal. I'm not going to be all girly and eat vegetables all the time. Or just have a salad for lunch. No way. I'm gonna eat what I like (until I get sick again or something) because life's too short to torture yourself with disgusting kinds of food. Like broccoli.

Lately, I've been eating vegetables though. And consuming less salt. Because people care for me and they say that they don't want me to die young or something.

Also, I have never tried counting calories. I don't know why girly people count calories and say that they need to lose weight. Especially girls who are already skinny. (No offence to those who have done this before!)

I don't exercise to slim down/ lose weight.

Sporty girls exercise because they like a certain sport, like swimming or cycling. They think that it's fun, so they exercise. They swim. They go for a game of tennis. Whatever.

But obviously, I'm not a sporty girl. I suck at sports. I hated having to run during PE lessons. It's not because I'm a girly girl and I hate perspiring. It's more like because I'm lazy and exercising is tiring. (Omg I'm such a sloth. I just realised that I keep repeating the fact that I'm lazy - the main reason why I don't do all this girly stuff - which means that being girly is hard work!)

People, who are actually girly, exercise. Because they are concerned with how they look and they want to be slimmer, more toned and lose weight. (This is linked to the previous point, about how girly people go on diets and count calories) I don't. I hardly exercise. During the past 8 months of my life (ever since the end of the 'A' levels) I haven't really exercised.

Okay, maybe once, because at the E6 chalet I cycled. Or twice, because we went to Pulau Ubin to cycle. Does going to the swimming complex/ wild wild wet count as exercise? Not really I guess, since I didn't swim laps and stuff.

I don't get "Girl Speak" at times.

"Girl Speak" as in, the language most girls use to communicate with other girls. I think some guys are better than this than I am. Sometimes when I'm with some of my friends and they start talking about fashion, make-up, or even hot celebrities, I get lost. I tune out. I'm not really interested. Sorry. (And no, it's not because I'm a lesbian and I'm not interested in hot guys. I just don't "fan-girl" over stuff.)

Burps. Eats messily.

In secondary school, I had a reputation for burping. In St. John, Amalina and I (and sometimes Atiqah, too) used to burp after drinking water from our 1.5 litre ice mountain water bottles. Hahaha. It was fun. Why do we have to be girly and pretend to be prim and proper anyway? We should behave however we want in front of our friends. Pretending sucks the life out of you.

But of course, I don't burp as much as before since people think that it's rude. I remember that during sec 4, we had this dining etiquette course thing and they brought us to Swensen's. Hahaha it was such a joke.

And I eat messily like my mum. We're Chinese. We eat Chinese food. Chinese food consists of rice. Rice comes in a bowl. The bowl is small. Rice spills from the bowl sometimes.

When you're hungry, you won't think so much and you'd just stuff food into your mouth. But girly girls would take small bites no matter what. Maybe that's the reason why I finish my food more quickly as compared to other girls. But compared to guys I'm really slow.

I don't need company wherever I go.

Girls in school always go to the toilet in pairs. But it isn't necessary. I'm not the kind of person who'd ask all her friends to accompany me somewhere. I'd just ask one person and if that person didn't want to, I'd just go alone. It doesn't matter. I can go to the toilet by myself. I can go shopping alone. Whatever.

I decided to go for OBBD when I was in sec 3 even though I wasn't close with anyone else who was going. Because I knew that it'd be fun and I liked camping. (Girly people wouldn't like camping, anyway.)

I don't understand how it is considered "brave" to be the one who turns off all the lights.

Because I'm not being "brave". I'm just not afraid of the dark. (I don't like bumping into furniture, though. So after switching off all the lights I use the light from my phone to guide my way if it's really dark.)

I've noticed that lots of girly people are afraid of the dark or something. I mean, obviously everyone has their own fears. It's not like I'm fearless or something. Some people are afraid of heights, some are afraid of thunder, and some are afraid of ghost or horror movies. (For me, I hate cockroaches because they are disgusting. Especially flying ones.)

I don't really know where I'm going with this, but it's just that people think that I'm brave, fearless, and not girly just because I dare to listen to ghost stories, switch off all the lights and ride some roller-coasters. I don't really get it.

Still girly!

Likes princessy stuff.

I mean, duh! Most girls grew up with fairy-tales, and obviously so did I. I used to read "The Princess Diaries", too.

Wants to be treated like a girl.

Face it, I'm still a girl. I still want guys to volunteer to carry heavy items for me. Besides, it's nice for guys to be gentlemanly and do stuff like opening doors for people. It's nice for girls to feel that they are being cared for and protected by a guy.

Would be concerned if I was called "fat" or "ugly".

No one likes to be called fat or ugly, or any other word which has a negative connotation. But girls are especially sensitive to being called "fat" or "ugly", since we want to be "slim" and "pretty". I was definitely unhappy when my mother first said that I was "big sized". And someone said that I was ugly so I thought that I should try to put on make-up. (But obviously, laziness overruled that notion.)

Still wants pretty clothes to wear and to look pretty in.

This is why even though I don't really like shopping, I still have to shop. If not I wouldn't have anything to wear!

There was this article in last week's "Urban" (the section about fashion which is part of The Straits Times. I don't really bother reading the newspaper so I only read it when my mother shows me some interesting article.) which was about fashion trends that women like and men don't. And there was one thing in the article that was really true: that women dressed to impress other women. I mean, other than trying to impress the guy they like, it was mentioned that women liked receiving compliments from other women and they dressed to differentiate themselves from other women.

Which is all so true. This is probably why we wouldn't like it if some other girl was wearing the same thing as us. And this is also why I somehow subconsciously keep track of what my friends had seen me wear before and I try not to wear the same outfit in front of the same people.

My sister just came back from Europe after a month! She bought me a necklace and some lip gloss. I think she is trying to influence me to be more girly.

Shiya, Ama and I met up earlier to buy a belated birthday present for Ati and after that we went to the library to write on the pretty birthday card which Shiya had made. By then, we were kinda hungry so we decided to go to Seoul Garden first. Atiqah was super late and by the time she had reached, we had been eating for an hour and a half! Was really full. The soup was too salty and so the vegetables and mushrooms were too salty as well, so we diluted the soup by adding ice cubes. Hahaha it was really funny.

We surprised Ati with her present! Yay. Then we decided to go to HomeTeamNS for a game of bowling. We went to the Bukit Batok clubhouse or whatever it's called at first, but there were too many people so we walked to the 188 bus stop. While walking, we reminisced about the past - the good ol' days in St. John. Hahaha. Talking about all the stupid, random and funny things that we did or had to do, triggered all kinds of memories which were buried deep inside my mind and had never left me. We were laughing so hard and it was so fun.

Bowling was fun too. During one round, I bowled a strike and went back to them saying "Yay, happy liao!" and they were like, "Why?" and I was like, "You missed it!". Hahaha so funny! They weren't paying attention! Anyway I had a dental appointment at 5pm but since my mother was late so I thought I could be late too. After bowling, I met my mum and we went to the dental clinic but as since we'd missed the appointment we rescheduled it to be on Thursday instead.

21/7/11: My dental appointment was in the morning. I had to visit the dentist because when I was eating Pringles (Original flavour - my favourite, because it's so salty), there was a sudden pain on the left side of my mouth as I munched on the potato chips. I stopped eating Pringles because it was too painful, and my mother had immediately arranged an appointment with the dental clinic. I went to look at my teeth in the mirror and realised that the tooth which had root canal treatment done on, had turned grey.

So anyway, the dentist said that because root canal treatment was done, it was normal for the colour of that tooth to change because the blood supply to that tooth had been removed. But my tooth was painful because the fillings came out and there was again a hole in my tooth or something. I already knew this since I could feel it with my tongue. So they did an X-ray on that tooth and it wasn't that bad so they just filled it up but if the fillings come out again, I would have to visit some specialist and have the whole procedure done again or something.

Then I had lunch with mum (could only eat on the right side of my mouth) and went to NUS for registration day.

22/7/11: Met up with Lynn, Xueying, Yingwei and Justin! I came directly from giving tuition so I was early and had to wait. The rest (except Lynn) met up first at Starbucks so that we could write our wishes to her and stick it onto the birthday card Justin had made. Then we went to find Lynn and we went to Suntec City's Kenny Rogers for dinner. There was a bookshelf in the restaurant and we were so entertained by the shelves of random and interesting books. Haha. Then Justin disappeared and we finished almost all our food until he reappeared with a small slice of strawberry cake for Lynn! By then, we were stuffed. Walked around for a bit and visited a pet shop with lots of cute hamsters and rabbits!

23/7/11: Went to Vivocity to find Michelle and the bunch of people who surprised her! There were friends from her workplace and JC I think. I only knew Jack and Leongyew, obviously. Haha. Only hung around for a bit while she the rest of her dares. Jack and Leongyew had to leave and I went to watch the movie, "Bridesmaids".

24/7/11: Gave 3 lessons in one day. So horrible and tiring! Yet kinda fun.
25/7/11: PJC wasted my time. They told me to go back to school for some photoshoot thing which was so lame because they just took one picture of me and I could leave. I should've said that I wasn't free!

26-28/7/11: Went for FASS Orientation talks with Lynn and Elena! The talks on the first day were useful since it was about the curriculum and about using the system to bid for modules. Talks on the second day were lame since it was about the different subjects and it was somewhat like the talks they had at the FASS open house. The third day was kinda lame too, since I thought they'd teach us how to bid at the bidding clinic but we pretty much figured everything out by ourselves. And I have my econs and history exposure modules pre-allocated to me at 1 bid point each, so yay!

26/7/11: After the orientation talks, I went to meet my mum at Outram Park MRT station and we walked to SGH. Visited my grandpa at the ICU and talked to my aunts. The doctor came by and told us that ah gong could be moved back to the general ward the next day. Yay! Had dinner at the kopitiam there and my uncle came by after work. When my mum and I left the ward, two of my uncle's friends had arrived. As we walked past, one of them (the woman) asked my uncle, "Is that your mum?"

WHAT AN INSULT TO MY MOTHER! :(
Especially since my uncle looks older than my mother. So mean.

27/7/11: Went to Bugis with Nureen after the orientation talks! Shopped at Bugis Street. We were going for dinner when this guy from Prudential stopped us. He wanted to do a quick survey which would last 5 minutes, but it became a 45 minute talk instead. Oh well, no time to eat before tuition. But at least he was kinda nice and funny.

29/7/11: Tuition was cancelled. Watched "Captain America: The First Avenger" at Lot 1.

Omg school is starting soon. I don't want school to start. Actually I used to say that I wanted school to start but now that it's starting so soon, I don't want. So scary. I can't believe that I'm going to a university. It sounds like a big deal. (Even though it isn't) It sounds like a place with matured people. Okay, one of them didn't really talk much so it was just Girl A and Girl B. Their conversation went something like this:

Girl A: ...After Prisoner of Azkaban, there was...

Girl B: The Goblet of Fire.

Girl A: Yeah! And after that it was-

Girl B: Hey was there like, the Half-Blood Prince?

Girl A: Yeah there was! I read the book! It was about-

Girl B: There was a movie on the Half-Blood Prince right?

Girl A: There was? No, there wasn't! I would've seen it if there was!

Girl B: There was! What was it about anyway?

Girl A: It was the one where that dude dies, right?

(I couldn't bear to listen to their dumb conversation, so I tuned out. A while later...)

Girl A: Was that the one where he met Tom Riddle?

OMG I COULDN'T STAND IT. Those girls talked as if they are Harry Potter fans when they sound so FAKE. And it's plain stupid to think that they didn't make a movie out of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and just skipped to the Deathly Hallows. (It's probably normal to not have an impression of the movie though, since Harry Potter movies never live up to the standards of the book.) And that girl even claimed to have read the book. She was probably staring at the pages and thinking of nail polish or something. And for goodness sake, Tom Riddle is Voldemort! Harry Potter meets and fights Lord Voldemort in some way in almost every book/movie! (Except maybe in the Prisoner of Azkaban)

These girls don't know what they are talking about at all. I don't know why they bother.

Update: I've got 124 pokes on Facebook!

I was going home and being tired after giving tuition when I happened to meet Lloyd and Zhenxiang at the Yew Tee MRT station bus stop. We waved to each other said hi.

Zhenxiang said that he had seen me around with another guy and asked me why I wasn't with that guy. I thought the answer was obvious: because he's in NS. Then he asked me this absurd question that went something like, "Oh, so are planning to break up with him because he's in NS?" So I was quite surprised, and said "No?"

Then he asked me another weird question: Does Xueying pee on the floor? Obviously I went "No?" again because it was such a stupid thing to ask. I can't remember his exact words but it was something along the lines of, "Oh no wonder she can't see her own reflection [in the pee] to look at her lousy fashion sense."

Omg. I was too stunned and tired to say anything and the bus came so I boarded the bus home. But seriously? He obviously doesn't know why I broke up with Justin. Like as if I'd break up with someone just because he's in NS and doesn't have time for me. Apparently he thinks that I'm as childish as he is. And about insulting Xueying's fashion sense? It's such a superficial thing to say and it's not even any of his business. Well, none of this is any of his business.

This post is getting boring. I mean, he already showed us how childish he was during the Genting trip, so it shouldn't have been a surprise. But still. It's disappointing.
Because I was bored.

I couldn't poke some people because they had not received my previous poke, and I didn't poke Nureen because she recently just poked me back. But after poking everyone, I got back only 50 pokes so far.

I guess you can tell that I'm really, very bored.

Was grouchy just now. Other than the fact that I got my period today, I was annoyed because somebody called me a hypocrite and a liar. He didn't even explain why, but he has no right to say such shit about me.

I went for the NUS pre-admission medical examination on Wednesday. My eyesight is still awesome. My height, weight, blood pressure and urine - all normal. Then there was the chest X-ray thing and after that we had to wait for your turn to see the doctor. While waiting, this pretty china girl from electrical engineering sat next to me and talked to me. My turn came before hers and as I entered the room, the doctor was asking if I was Shi Ting. I couldn't see her face until I turned the corner and walked to the doctor's table. She looked at me and asked, "Do you have thalassemia?"

I was surprised so I went, "No? What's that?" And she said that she asked because I looked pale so I told her that I always look pale. Then she went on to ask me if I had any medical history. I said no and she told me to lie down. I asked her about the disease she thought I had and she told me that it's usually inherited and that people with that disease tend to look pale and might have anemia.

Hahaha so funny. Am I really that pale?

Anyway, I don't get why that someone whom I mentioned earlier is being so hostile towards me. I tried to be his friend and since he claimed that he still liked me but didn't want me back, I thought it was okay to meet up with him a few times when he asked me out. But on Thursday night he cried and said that he lied about not wanting me back. How could I still agree to watch The Lion King with him and lead him on? Fine, I was tempted because I wanted to watch The Lion King, but I guess I realised that it wouldn't be the right thing to do. Actually, according to someone else, I should have already understood his intentions at the very beginning. I guess I was gullible to believe him. He's making me feel naive for thinking that we could still be friends.

Edit: I forgot to add that initially we agreed that our break-up song was "The Story of Us" by Taylor Swift. Then he annoyed me on Friday when we were watching MTV at Lena's house by saying that it was "Grenade" by Bruno Mars. (Like as if he'd die for me!) And now he thinks that "Jar of Hearts" by Christina Perri suits me better. Wtf. Seriously? I don't even want him back, and I'm not some asshole. (And he should at least get the title of the song right, before trying to get back at me. He typed it as "Jars of heart")

(24/6, Friday)

Xueying, Yingwei and I met up early in the morning. Lynn was busy and couldn't come with us. We were supposed to meet at 8.30 but I was super late since I only woke up by then. Oops. They waited for me at CCK before going to Elena's house. At the void deck, Xy compiled the birthday wishes we had written to Lena and pasted them together. Lena's grandmother answered the door and let us in. We went up the stairs to her room and she was so surprised to see us!

Since she just woke up, we waited for her in the living room. She came downstairs to open her presents! (Xy got her a poster of New York, Yw got her stationary, Gay Justin and I got her a jewelry box. Threw in some colourful paper stars and straw hearts) Justin joined us while we were watching TV. Lena insisted that we have lunch at her house. Her grandmother cooked some food for us and was delicious, especially the rendang. We decided to go to Bugis after that so we went to Lena's room to get ready. Watched YouTube videos of Kevjumba, tried on Lena's heels, and watched the girls put on make-up.

Xy went off for her piano lesson (she later messaged us to say that it was cancelled) while the rest of us waited for the bus for quite some time and went to eat at Lenas. (The restaurant, not her house) We had cheese fondue, potato wedges, garlic bread, fried banana with chocolate/vanilla, vegetable soup and a huge mug of mint tea (which I avoided). After that, we went to the rooftop of Illuma and took pictures! I was laughing so hard when Lena started taking "sexy" photos of Justin with her DSLR.

We went our separate ways after that. Justin and Lena had planned to go clubbing later that night. Yingwei and I took the MRT back together. Complained to her about how I had to tolerate someone who was trying to annoy me the entire day (It was like deja vu. Something like that happened two years ago as well, when we were out celebrating Lena's birthday). Went to have dinner at Vivocity's Carl's Jr. before going home.

Watched The Hangover Part II and omg, I think the movie was too gross for someone like me.

Maybe I should learn how to put on make up.
Maybe I should update.
But maybe no one cares about this blog.

Oh wait, I just checked the stats! I've got a lot of views even though I haven't been updating. Haha so weird. Please leave a comment to let me know that you exist as people, not as numbers!

Stuff that has happened ever since my last update:

I actually packed my table like a month ago, and it was all neat and tidy! I wiped away all the dust too! But now it's back to it's normal state because I had to dig out my old stuff for reference in order to give tuition.

Went shopping with Michelle! Mao.

Had dinner with Justin and watched Beastly. It was a sucky and boring movie.

Watched Paul the next day.

Went to Xueying's house with Lynn and Elena!

Shopping with Vera! We also watched Water For Elephants at Plaza Sing! The movie was okay but the book was so much nicer. I was addicted to the book and finished it within a day.

Went for the FASS open house before watching Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Went to Malaysia with the St. John people! Shiya, Ama, Ati and her bf. We walked around, had fun at the arcade and had a super belated birthday celebration for Shiya.

Experienced stomach flu for the first time. Vomited 5 times and after that I just kept having diarrhea. I never want to have stomach flu ever again.

College day! Watched Kungfu Panda 2 after that. It was pretty awesome to get the Top Arts Student award :)

My new laptop and blogshop items arrived on the same day. Yay!

Finished reading the OHSHC manga! I know I'm kinda outdated since I should've done this a long time ago but I just never had the time.

Met up with Xueying and we walked around JP!

Went shopping in town with KK. Watched X-Men: First Class.

Had prata for supper with Jack and Michelle after tutoring 3 kids on Sunday. I was so tired by then but we really had fun catching up and it was like we were talking non-stop!

I still have Justin's Esprit card! And since he wanted to get clothes from there he asked me to accompany him to Vivocity.

Could finally meet Melina for dinner! We ate at Westmall on a Thursday after her work and after my 2 tuition lessons.

Shopped with Nureen in town! Ran into Chrystabel and her siblings at Far East Plaza.

Watched Green Lantern at the Grand Cathay with Justin, Xueying, Yingwei, Lynn, Elena, Daniel and Kangkang! Daniel left right after the movie and the rest of us went to Astons for lunch before going shopping at Orchard Ion. Visited the new Forever 21 and told Nureen to come by as well since she was talking about it the day before.

Lunched with KK at Lot 1's Bistro Delifrance. Oh, yay! The list hits number 20 again.

Sometimes when I zone out I feel like I'm not myself anymore. I'm not even a person. I'm just floating around and watching the world go by. I forget who I am and what I was supposed to be doing. I forget myself. Then when I snap out of it I have to remind myself of my own identity and that I still have a life to lead. I don't know if anyone else has ever felt this way. Maybe I'm just being weird.

Which means that I got rejected by law!

Which means that I got rejected by things that required interviews!

Which means that I really suck at interviews!

It isn't really surprising because I prefer writing down my thoughts instead of verbalising them, and I can only speak well when I'm talking to people whom I'm comfortable with.

I'm kinda happy that I got accepted to FASS and not law! It's dumb but I placed law as my first choice because of my parents. And also because I can. Just to try. Which is also probably why I didn't feel very stressed at the interview. (I only panicked when I missed the bus stop and was trying to find my way there. Plus it was super hot. And I thought I was gonna be late since my interview was supposed to be at 12.) I guess I didn't really want it that badly so I just went there and said some silly things which made the professors laugh. Twice.

Anyway, now I have to make a choice. Communication Studies at NTU or FASS at NUS? I can't decide.

Oh yeah I don't know what's with all the hype over the General Elections but it's finally over! They announced the results already. My dad switched on the TV and my mum and sis woke up to listen to the news as well. It was so boring because as usual, the PAP wins almost everything. WP won 6 seats. So really, I don't get why everyone seemed so agitated this year. (Maybe only people in Aljunied GRC should be lah. It was the main focus of the GE and I think it's the first time an opposition has won a GRC.)

The week after getting our results, I went for the NTU open house with Justin, Yingwei and Lynn. Went for the NUS one the next day but with Justin, Xueying and Daniel.

Planned for our Langkawi/KL trip with Nureen, KK, Alvin and Shaun! Went to Alvin's house after the NUS open house, and KK's the next day after work.

Celebrated Yingwei's birthday with the clique at Shokudo! All 7 of us were able to come. Yay! Watched Rango after lunch.

Celebrated Daniel's birthday at JP's Ambush after work with Elena, Yingwei and Justin. Xueying came but left early.

LANGKAWI/KL TRIP WAS SUPER FUN! I don't think I need to elaborate on this one. The photos uploaded on Facebook say it all :D

Came back to Singapore for one day. Spent it with Gay and we played badminton together.

Genting trip with Xueying, Lloyd and Zhenxiang. I love the rides at the theme park, especially Space Shot! And the weather was nice. We could touch the clouds.

Got this stupid cough from Xy! :(

Watched Hop with Gay Justin and had Crystal Jade for dinner.

Cough was getting better but then it developed into a flu. Must've gotten it from Gay.

Did not go to work for a few days because I was sick and because I had to attend the NUS law interview. I waited an hour for my turn and it was funny because the dude told me to wait at my seat and that they'll come to get me, instead of me going over to them. The professors felt bad for making me wait! Haha so cute. They were nice but I totally sucked at answering their questions.

Watched Limitless, Rio and Thor with KK.

Had the NUS law written test in the morning, which was really difficult. And the invigilator had the cheek to say something like, "Not to give you any pressure, but there are 700 excess people here." Wow, thanks for the encouragement. I didn't plan to join the guys because I suck at cycling but ZJ and KK were persuading me after the test so I went home for lunch and then met them plus Paul, JS, Shaun and Bryant at BB. Went to Pulau Ubin to cycle and I didn't die because KK rode the two-man bicycle with me! JS fell down but I had plasters. Oh yeah it was kinda funny that my mother was so worried that she wanted me to bring a helmet.

I totally screwed up my NTU scholarship interview and I got rejected already. But they break the news to you very nicely in the e-mail by saying, "In view of the large number of competent candidates and limited number of scholarships available, we regret to advise that we are unable to consider you for a scholarship." I felt bad because my parents were so happy when I told them that I was going for the interview. And because I wasted Ms Nura's time in getting to fill up the referral thing. But hello? They asked me weird things like "What's your X-factor?" Omg. As if praising myself through the scholarship essay wasn't bad enough. It took up so much of my time. Jeez. Oh, but at least the interview was held at my workplace. So I just went to work as usual and went for the interview after lunch.

Attended the NTU Communication Studies Pre-Admission Reception at Conrad Contennial Hotel with Elena after work. The hotel was super pretty, the service was good and the food was delicious. Especially the cakes. Oh wait, that's not the point. The presentations were cool and it made me feel like I should totally go to Comm Studies! But I'm still wondering if I should accept the offer because NUS hasn't gotten back to me.

Went to town with Yw and Xy! Walked around before having dinner at Thai Express. We went to the one in Heeren so it was pretty empty. And I have no idea why, but we just kept laughing about everything. We also found out that "sa-nook" meant "the enjoyment of life", according to the waiter whom we asked.

Shopped for KK's present with Nureen at JP after work!

Had dinner at Laselle with Justin, Yw, Elena, Xy and Daniel.

My last day of work was on Tuesday. Yw and I helped out because there was an event - some talk by Prof Smale at the school of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Yw said it's good that my workplace has no bitchy people and that everyone's so nice. She was really enthusiastic about helping them with some workshop for a week but I don't know if I should. My job gets boring. But it's true that the people (Xiaohong, Alex, Meijing, Kel, OKK and his aunt) are nice.

Have been slacking at home for the past 3 days. I have absolutely nothing to do right now.

I had this weird dream the night before that I scored ABC/A, and was crying because the C was for Literature. It was such a horrible dream. Then my phone started vibrating in real life and I answered the call sleepily. The woman over the phone said that she was calling from PJC and told me that I did "quite well" and had to come to school earlier and "appropriately attired".

I had no choice but to wake up since it was already 10am, and instead of 2.30pm I had to reach school by 12.15pm. Actually, I had to wake up anyway since I was supposed to meet the clique at Yew Tee for Astons at 11.30am. My sister woke up due to the phone call and she kept saying that I must've gotten straight As and that it's so unfair.

Anyway, I wasn't supremely happy or anything yet. I was still kinda scared because doing "quite well" sounded so ambiguous and I was still thinking about my weird dream. I told Yingwei about it and she asked the clique to meet at 15 minutes earlier (though most of us were still late, anyway). Yw must've told the rest because after that Lynn congratulated me and Daniel called me to say that PJC called him, too.

So we all met at Astons but Daniel ate only like the bread or something. Yw and I were the only ones who had a proper lunch. Elena, Lynn and Xueying didn't eat anything and just had drinks. Then we went to school together via MRT and bus while Daniel cycled there. Along the way, Xueying received a random call which was for me. Over the phone, some random person asked me if I had remedial sessions and asked me for the names of the relief teachers who taught me before. So random.

I was late so I went straight to LT1 where the teachers were telling us about how we should apply for scholarships. Audrey and Daniel were there already, and I didn't really know anyone else. Then they started to arrange us in some order and as they were calling out names, Daniel and I started to wonder if they called us by mistake, since they were taking so long. Nureen was called too and she came in just right after her name was called.

Eventually they did call my name and I was like the third from the back, so I started to suspect something. I mean, you don't have to be a genius to figure out what was going on. The two people called before me was a Malay student and an Indian student, and the last person was Demas, obviously the top overall student.

But since nobody told me anything I decided not to think too much. I didn't get a chance to think very much anyway, because the next thing I knew, Mr. Sas came into the LT and told me to come along with him for an interview. I was thinking WTF but I just followed. Along the way, he explained to me that because I was under Miss Noriana for lit remedial and the interview was going to be about how remedial has benefited me, blah blah. You get the gist.

Then I entered this meeting room thingy which is a place in PJC that I've never seen before. Mrs Lee was there with two other guys and she felt that I looked familiar, maybe because she was the SJAB teacher in charge back in BBSS last time. After a while a 4th guy came. Then the photographer and journalist from The Straits Times arrived. We went to some classroom and then the locker areas to take photos, then it was back to the classroom for more questions. After the interview, we were told to go straight to the hall. Along the way, Mr. Ng said congrats, you're the top arts student. I was like, omg really?

Then I felt kinda blur so I called Daniel and found him and the rest right at the front of the stage. I was going like, wtf I'm the top arts student and all the girls in my clique hugged me and I still couldn't really believe it so I texted my real sister and my fake brother (KK) about it. Jie called me and asked about it. Oh yeah and I had to sit like according to how they arranged us so I was kinda lonely but finally gay Justin arrived in school after booking out at 10am and he came over to talk to me.

Mrs Tan gave her speech which isn't really a speech since she was just reading off the slides and telling us the percentages even though everything is just there. She went on to talk about the top students and she skipped my slide because she was too excited to talk about Demas :(

When I finally went up on stage to receive my results slip I think she perhaps congratulated me a little bit more. Then all those who were called had to talk a group photo and the top students had to take individual photos with Mrs Tan. She then apologised for skipping my slide and said that she wouldn't have done that, or something. I told her that it's okay.

Anyway, it wasn't really important since I started receiving attention from my teachers, random people, friends and my classmates, who started congratulating me in real life as well as via SMS. It was nice and I guess I was still quite stunned to think of anything to say other than thanks.

I called my mother and told her that I got straight As and was the top arts student. Then I jokingly asked her over the phone why she wasn't crying and the next thing I knew, she was sobbing and it was like 'O' levels all over again.

Justin was being emo just because of one of his grades and he didn't even take his goodie bag, so Yw and I went to get it for him. Xueying had to queue up in the library to pay her fines in order to receive her results. So we waited around for each other and finally all of us met in the canteen and went to BPP's Starbucks. We looked through our university shit together and after that Justin and I went to meet Xy and Zhenxiang at Yew Tee's KFC. Xy left first and the two guys walked me home.

It was such a weird day and I don't know how I became the top arts student. Seriously. I mean, Daniel had straight As too.

I went home and showed my results slip to my mum. Then when my dad came home I showed it to him too. He was like, "Wah very good! So what do you want? Daddy buy for you." So without really thinking I just said "iPhone", and my mother was like "NO!" and that was it.

Okay, not really. My mother went on to say things to my dad, like, "You should give me money to give to her! I give her allowance every week you know! And I also give her money to buy shoes and dress! She score so well because I take care of her one okay!" Blah blah blah. Suddenly, all the credit goes to her. LOL.

This morning I was half awake when I heard my dad announcing that I appeared in the newspapers. So when I woke up for real I asked him about it and saw my face in The Straits Times, Home section or something and was like, ewwww I look so weird and gross. And it was kinda funny that the 4th guy was cropped out or something. Daniel said that my name was mentioned in Lian He Zao Bao, the Chinese newspaper as well. So cool yet so weird.

Suddenly, I felt like a mini celebrity all over again because people started smsing me to tell me that they saw me in the papers. Hahaha.

I totally didn't expect all this and I still have no idea what course to choose. (I got a B for PW and C for Chinese, so I didn't think it was possible to top anything)

And it's kinda bad because when I text my friends to ask about their results, they tell me, say that it sucks, and then ask me about my results. And I don't want to tell them in case they think I'm rubbing it in their face or showing off.

I know I did say before that I wanted straight As but I didn't really mug like crazy or pressurise myself to achieve them, so actually I was just saying it without really thinking that it could happen but wow, it did. I'm amazed, and I'm grateful.

He's really annoying! He bullies me, insults me, sings Chinese songs and forces me to drink water. (In other words, he has been great company)

Last week, a French girl by the name of Apolline worked with us for a week. She's really nice and has a great sense of humour.

I've watched Black Swan twice! The first time was with Gay Justin after dinner at JP's Ambush and the second time was last Friday with KK, ZJ and Shaun. (Nureen had dinner with us at JP's New York New York, but didn't join us for the movie) It's a great movie and I didn't even get bored watching it for the second time. In fact, I think I managed to appreciate it better by noticing details which I had missed out on.

Oh and I spent the weekend before Valentine's Day with Gay Justin. We went out in the afternoon and later met up with the others (Lynn, Zhen Xiang, Weiling, Lloyd and some of Xy's church friends) for Xueying's sleepover! We watched TV shows like Incredible Tales (in an attempt to scare Xueying) and Glee. Then we watched movies like The Proposal and Step Up, both of which are movies that I have never watched before. So I was the only one left who was actually watching Step Up when everyone else were already asleep except for Gay and Xueying, who weren't really watching but talking about stuff. Was the last one to bathe and only fell asleep at 7am.

Justin once again took the opportunity to ask me questions while I was half asleep/ subconscious like he did during the chalet last year, and somehow I managed to respond by nodding or shaking my head appropriately. I don't recall what happened but he told me about it afterwards. Woke up with hotcakes for breakfast and then Lynn, Gay and I went to meet Yingwei. (I wore my pretty and blue sailor-ish dress which I had bought from JP before the sleepover!) We went to Maxwell market for lunch and then walked around from Tanjong Pagar to Chinatown. Somehow, we didn't get lost and we went to Vivocity to meet Xy after that.

Last Saturday, Gay wanted to bring me to The Cathay or somewhere else in Orchard to get tickets for No Strings Attached before meeting his friends at Anchorpoint/ Ikea to celebrate Clara's birthday. This is because he stupidly thought that Anchorpoint was somewhere near Orchard. Hahaha. NS is seriously making him dumber/ more retarded. So anyway, I brought him to Tiong Bahru Plaza instead so that we would actually make it in time after our dinner at Ikea. The movie was super funny, especially the balloon part and the period mix.

Went to Vivocity to shop and eat. Then Elena left but the three of us met Zhenxiang and his friend Lloyd (who looks like Lloyd from the Tales of Symphonia because of his hair) at Bugis before going home.

Couldn't get to sleep last night so I slept pretty late and woke up at 1.30pm. Hahaha it's so awesome not having to work! :D

My last day of work was kinda fun. My history lesson with 2E5 was their last lesson for the day so I stayed back with some them to play Once Upon A Time! Hahaha. It was super funny. Went to visit 4E1 with sweets and I got harassed by the guys there! They pestered me for sweets and even tried to corner me. Lol! They had English oral after that so I went back to the sec 2s who were still playing the storytelling game, but we had to vacate for the English oral so we ended up playing at the detention area.

Met my mum at Lot 1 after school. It was kinda funny because every time I go home after work I would suddenly feel like I'm a BBSS student again, going home after school, and would somehow feel like alighting at CCK like I did in the past. My feet would automatically move towards the door as the announcement is made about switching to the Bukit Panjang LRT! And so that day, I told myself that I was going to alight at Yew Tee, forgetting that I had to meet my mother at Lot 1, and I even tapped out at Yew Tee and almost walked home. I realised my mistake just in time and tapped back inside, feeling kinda silly.

After dinner and grocery shopping mum and I were going to the bus interchange when someone started shouting MISS THIA! It was one of my students in his soccer uniform. I still find it amusing to be called Miss Thia. I also met another student at Plaza Sing on a different occasion, when I was still getting used to the whole teaching thing.

Last Saturday I met Gay Justin at Novena and we were about to decide on what to do when Lynn called to ask us to go for the NTU talk with her and Elena! Well, actually I asked the clique about going for the talk the previous night and most of them weren't free so I didn't feel like going anymore. It was also partially due to feeling annoyed by my mother, who insisted that she come with me, and also the feeling that the talks wouldn't be very helpful. We only had time to attend the talk about teaching and another one about HSS, and I was right. But we got this NTU magazine and other pamphlets.

During the talk about NIE I thought of the staff meeting we had last Wednesday which was about doing up your portfolio and the book, The Skillful Teacher, as well as the previous meeting before that one which got us to work in groups and draw something which comprised of the teacher's pledge, vision, philosophy and outcome or something. (I can't remember what was that last one) Anyway, the meetings are long and boring, yet interesting in its own way. I discovered that teachers wanted their job to be more recognised, and they wanted less administrative work. I don't know about the administrative work since I was just a relief teacher, but I know that although there are teachers who are passionate about teaching, it is often seen as a last resort or just a way to earn money. (And the thick file called a portfolio which has to be done in order to apply for the position of a senior teacher is just... scary)

Ate at Marina Square where I somehow couldn't taste the delicious food and drinks at Manhattan Fish Market because I was still sick, and went to Plaza Sing to shop. Elena and Lynn left while Gay and I continued shopping for new year clothes. Gay got shirts from Springfield and Esprit and while at Esprit I saw pretty clothes for myself so I went to try them on. Didn't really want to buy them but Gay insisted so because of our indecisiveness we were there until Esprit was about to close. He bought them for me and also signed up for an Esprit card. (Oh yeah, I better spend the $10 vouchers they gave together with the card since it's only valid for one month)

I still need new shoes because I've been wearing my white flats with the cute golden key and lock thing almost everyday, especially when I was working, and because of that its soles are losing grip.

Chinese New Year is almost here. It's the most dreaded occasion of the year (well, at least for me) and I'll probably be spamming everyone when SMSes on the first day due to my boredom, so don't be surprised.

Have been busy with work!

Celebrated gay's birthday on the 8th by having dinner with Xy and Elena at Plaza Sing's secret recipe, but the stupid gay didn't get to spend the entire day with me. He totally sucks. Didn't have a long enough conversation with him over the phone today either.

Went out shopping with Nureen at Orchard on the 11th. It was really fun to catch up with her since we haven't met for so long! She gave me a present from US - Victoria's Secret perfume! Looks expensive and I feel bad since I was caught empty handed and without a gift in return.

Had dinner after school with Melina on the 14th. She gave me a bracelet from Cambodia and again I felt bad for not giving her a super belated present. It was really nice talking to her. I think we talked non stop. We walked to my house and continued talking at my void deck all the way until 11pm.

Celebrated Xueying's birthday at Ikea with YW, Elena and gay on the 22nd. Yay, meatballs! But gay and I left early and went over to his friend's house.

Tomorrow's gonna be my last day of work at BBSS. I would've worked for only 15 days but it was still really fun! Some guys in 4E1 stole my sweets during history lesson today but I guess it's okay since I was planning to give the sweets to them anyway, except in an orderly fashion. The funniest thing today was the comment, "'cher, can I see your eyebrows?".

There's this guy from 4T1 who is full of nonsense. I was in charge of inline skating during MLA (Multi Level Activities) and he disturbed me during while I was marking stuff. From then on, whenever he sees me around, he says hi in a most enthusiastic way. Lol!

And 2E5 is such a cute class! I've had the most number of lessons with them. They're full of life and eager to learn. I'm gonna be seeing them tomorrow, and it'll be my last lesson for the day as well. 4N1/2 is quite a nice class too. Can't say much about the other classes since I didn't get to really know them.

It's kinda fun.

On Thursday I had three lessons (so tiring!) and after that I accompanied 4E1 to Ngee Ann Poly where I met Kenneth Yap, the NP ambassador who boarded our bus. I think he was surprised to see me. After watching some videos with the 4E/5N cohort, the teachers went to the teacher's lounge area or whatever and had some food before leaving. They gave us the NP goodie bag as well.

It is just so weird to be a relief teacher because you still feel like you're a student, yet you aren't. And when you're with teachers whom you used to see around school as a student but now you can treat them as colleagues/friends, it somehow feels awkward.

At least there's Brenda, Beatrice and Ellisa who's in the same situation!

Friday was awesome since I only had one lesson. But I was pretty dead tired before that. Went for standby class as well. On the way out of school I met Dennis! Then I met the gay at Westmall, had lunch at mayim and went home.

I slept till 1pm today!

Oh yeah, and my students found my facebook and my blog. I went to check the stats to see how they discovered my blog and apparently, they came here either through facebook or google. Oh my gosh. Can you believe it? They actually googled me. That is so weird.
