Great kite movie shot in northeast Brazil

It's hard to really explain what traveling to and kiting in the northeast of Brazil is really like for those who haven't already been there.

Thanks to the guys at ETIK Entertainment (film & editing) and Goody Gaudard (rider) we have a an awesome video to show you that really captures the feel. All of the filming was shot within 15km of our Brazil tour's second stop, Paracuru and Taiba.

US National Kiteboard Racing Championship

The first ever US National Kiteboard Racing Championship will be held July 25-29 at Crissy Field in San Francisco California. The prestigious St. Francis Yacht Club will be the organizing authority hosting the event. The St. Francis is working with the kiteboarding community and the leadership of US Sailing Association to get kiteboarding recognized as a US Sailing National Class. Dozens of top kiteboarders from around the world and regional standouts will compete for the title in the often challenging conditions of the San Francisco Bay. Spectators will be able to view the competition as they take in views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the San Francisco City Front. The event will be held in conjunction with Crissy Kite Days and the Big Air Wind Jam. Please see the following links for details:

Venezuela!

Venezuela's islands are notorious for their beauty and crystal blue Carribean water. Lucky for us, they also has some of the most consistent wind (15-25 knots) on the planet from December through May.

Our 7- Day tours begin after the airport pick up in Caracas, we fly to Margarita Island where the fun begins. Our first stop is El Yaque where you'll relax and kite the day away. Wind ranges from 15-20 knots in Margarita. After 2 days in Yaque, we'll downwind 30 min. to El Coche (the famous stop on the PKRA circuit) with boat support. Coche is a flat water paradise. Many pros frequent the spot and it's nothing short of beautiful.

If you're staying for 10-Days (this should be mandatory), you won't want to miss the next island chain of Los Roques. During the course of 4 days, you'll kite (upwind and downwind) to several different islands and experience the true beauty of this region. It's rare to see another kiter on your exploration, that's what makes Los Roques a true gem.

I'm having a blast in Hatteras with Dimitri and his family... It's only day 2, but conditions were awesome.

I was super lit on my 12. Wind came up around 11am, about 15 knots. In the afternoon it blew from 20-25 knots.
We did a 5 km downwinder, and to say this was my first time kiting in the states!

Dimitri's family is so nice and welcoming, we really are like part of his family!
Heading out at 8am right now!
Just unreal.

This is GREAT news for us! TAM Airlines (American partner) will fly daily from Miami to Fortaleza beginning June 1, 2006.

The flight leaves at 8:30pm and arrives in sunny Fortaleza at 8am the next morning!

Mui Ne: Vietnam!

Vietnam is incredibly spectacular, particularly Mui Ne. The wind is like that of Brazil and the beaches are just gorgeous. There are miles and miles of coastline, not to mention three secret spots we've just discovered for mighty downwinders!

We're still kiteboarding in Cumbuco, Paracuru and Jericoacoara (Jeri). You gotta love that there have any been only been 3 light wind days and the rest BLOWING from July 15- ON!

Brazil's northeast conditions do not change, that's why we love living here!

Dimitri was down on a 7-day Kite Adventure in September.
He's coming back next year and this time bringing more insanity.

What did you think about your kite adventure?
I loved the action, the fun, and of course the people!

What were your favorite places on the tour and why?
Every place we went had its moments. I loved the downwinders and the Lagoon kiting, but I think the best was the Paracuru cove.

How does Brazil compare to other places you have kited?
One of the top best spots for kiting. Make sure to bring a girlfriend or boyfriend because you are so tired at night that you might need to get your partner to help you roll over.

What tricks are you working on for next year?
Trying to stay awake for dinner

A few tips for beginners...
Don't go crazy and exaust yourself on the first few days because the wind blows every single day!

Kite Adventures Trio

ME KITING IN PARACURU!

We've just updated our new blog! Isn't it SO exciting?
Got back from Paracuru today, we were there for the week and had some amazing kiting! The shots of me from the front were far away, so this display of water as my tail will have to do for now. I have to tell you how much I love my Aggression board. We will have more information about demos in the next few months. Stay tuned!
