result of a tooth ache pencil & paper v cessna

This past week I was laid low and kept from the studio with a

thunderous toothache. More like the side of my head ache.

A spike-hammered-in-my-gums feeling, sort of thing. Horrible.

I was excited to return today but sad to see my cheerful holiday poinsettia

plant was drying to it's death, right next to a full sealed bottle of water.

Oh, the irony.

Two day show is now over and the classroom of kids is now in my etsy shop for sale.

I got a lot of memory jogged feedback from the display. It seems to remind everyone of

some sort elementary shenanigans. Fun to talk to people about it all.

As a joke to myself, I have added an 'ad free' dohicky on my site. After two years of trying the unsightly google ads, I decided to remove the 'click on' ad sidebar. I had only 'earned' a one time amount of .57. I never received it because it wasn't enough to for them to send me, but it was funny to me to keep track of. O well, I tried it. Now I'll try not using it again.

My submission for the group show "The Artistic Process as Exorcism: group show curated by David Grim."

In a recent search for a dog friend, after the loss of our dear old Jack, I came to study the struggle of the pit bull. This breed out weighs in number on any given day, any other at our pound. I was egged on by a volunteer at the shelter to do some history on the breed. The timing in preparing my thoughts for a show about artistic process, coinciding with my investigation on this breed, bound them both in my mind.

There is quite an ongoing debate about this dog breed. The most loving thing that 'you just don't understand', to an all out weapon. Some can see artist process as a weapon too, in some hands, doing damage, or is it a loving best friend? Some outlaw it. Some kill it. Many are terrified. Many don't care. Many are changed by it's presence. Everyone is touched by it. Is it the talent or process of art that produces the end result, or the viewers reaction to it? Here I placed my pit bull /process on a soft quilt that morphed into (or came from) a chain link fence. I'll try to treat it nicely, even if we don't understand it.

You can come and see (and buy) this painting and many other fine works by many wonderful artists at Modern Formations. Opening Friday night, October 7th,2011 7-10pm. Exhibit runs through October 28th.
