For Immediate Release

Robertson joins fight against blood cancers

Muskego, Wisconsin - December 15, 2009 - Aaron S. Robertson announced today that he will be participating in the friendly fundraising competition for the Wisconsin Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's title of Man of the Year for the Milwaukee region.

The LLS's Man and Woman of the Year competition is held over a ten week period each spring, and raises critical funds and awareness for such things as medical research, education and outreach, and aid to patients battling leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood cancers. The man and woman who raise the most funds for the local region will go on to compete in a national competition. A separate regional competition in the state will be simultaneously unfolding in the Madison area, with those top fundraisers advancing to the national competition, as well.

The 2010 Milwaukee competition will run from March 11th through May 20th.

Robertson, 26, is a 2007 graduate of Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, where he earned a major in Political Science, minors in Sociology and Philosophy, a certificate in Integrated Leadership, and a non-credit certificate for a course in entrepreneurship. During his time at Stritch, among his other accomplishments, he served as president of the student government, Model United Nations Club, and Philosophy Club, which he co-founded.

He is author of the book, Beyond Majors and G.P.A.: A Real Philosophy for College and the World Ahead, which he wrote while still in college; has been a correspondent for the Muskego Chronicle since October 2007, reporting primarily on city government news; and contributes articles on entrepreneurship, business, leadership, history, politics/society, and other topics as a freelance writer.

Robertson is co-founder and president of Intrepid Innovations Inc., a firm specializing in Web design, graphic design, Internet marketing, and consulting. The company also operates the Intrepid Networking Club for college students, recent graduates, and young professionals.

Additionally, Robertson has been a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of Muskego since May 2008 and the Census Committee for the Village of Hales Corners since June 2009.

"I joined the Kiwanis club of Muskego because I wanted to serve my community and make it a better place for all those who live here. I have found that Kiwanis’ mission statement, “Serving the children of the world”, fits very well with my mission in life, to treat others as I would want to be treated. The youth programs we support are vital to this community, whether it be Boy or Girl Scouts, youth football, local school clubs, or general things like school conservation projects, Spooktacular, or safe post-prom parties. I am especially proud about the way Kiwanis International has helped to rid the world of child iodine deficiency. We also help all ages through our support or the local food pantry, ringing the bell for Salvation Army, and buying books for the library. I get great satisfaction from working with my friends in this Kiwanis club to raise the funds for these wonderful programs. We also become close friends as we care about each other through the years, when members go through sicknesses or loss. It is a wonderful way to donate my time and get back more that I put in. I would be glad to talk to anyone interested in joining us." -- Rev. Steve Kersten

"I've been a Kiwani for only a couple years or so now, but I absolutely love it. The friendship and camaraderie, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others is truly rewarding in so many ways." -- Aaron S. Robertson

Robertson Becomes President of Muskego Kiwanis Club

Muskego's Kiwanis Club is no exception.

Each year, the Kiwanis Club of Muskego helps in supporting a wide variety of projects and programs that, directly or indirectly, impact the lives of Muskego youth in a profound way.

Some general ways we provide support to the Muskego community:

Help to revitalize neighborhoods

Organize youth sports programs

Educate our children

Assist in developing programs for people with disabilities

Assist in highway clean-up

Some of our past and current notable contributions to the Muskego community include:

We have provided financial assistance toward the final projects of Eagle Scout candidates

Contribute each year to a scholarship fund organized through the city's Parks and Recreation department that awards needs-based grants to families who would like to enroll their children in a Parks and Rec. activity or program, but cannot afford the full cost

Bell ringing for the Salvation Army each Christmas

Meetings begin at 12:00 noon and end by 1:30. At these meetings, any necessary club business is addressed. Lunch is catered in by Matty's Bar and Grille, and we usually have a speaker present from anywhere between 25-40 minutes or so.

We welcome you to attend one of our meetings as our guest! Please see a Club member for further information, or contact Aaron Robertson, president, at: aaron@boldlyinnovative.com or (414) 418-2278.
