CAM 101 – First year, first semester has officially ended with a bang. Where I passed.

Yeaaaah!

Now off to CAM 102 where I’ll be sleep anatomy, eat anatomy and play anatomy (No joke, I’m seriously trying to bulk up, don’t want to be a scrawny Asian kid no more).

Courteousy of Jia Yi and friends, I managed to visit a few places in Tassie, epic I tell you, epic sceneries.

If anyone has been disappointed that is.

3 more days of preperation to my first paper. I had a glimpse at IMU's Foundation II (2nd Semester) MOFA. It struck me, the amount of details they went into, compared to my current syllabus. True enough I am still in the first semester (again). However, it really is downright demoralizing; am I learning as much as my Malaysian counterparts? How would this lead to my clinical performance? I know, of course that being a doctor isn't exactly a textbook-based occupation, plenty of misnomers and ill defined borders, but what is it to know about borders where you don't know where the borders lie?

Ah, the musing. It is a relief to say that the lectuerers here are better in terms of person contact, emails would be replied in a jiffy. However, I do miss the speediness of two hour lectures that makes time for revision and of course rest. Most importantly, I really do miss the cheap food back home. A plate of plain rice with two dishes here cost like at least 9 AUD, roughly 9 times more expensive than home. There is a perk though, we medical students get staff price for food in the hospital cafeteria whereby the food is, well, not any better than two-day-old soggy cornflakes. It'll be good to be back. But I chose this path, is it the correct path? I choose not the see the "what-if" I am back home. I rather don't. Things would be different.

I wouldn't learn to do a lot of stuff that I did here; lifelong skills that I have learnt is indeed, priceless. It's not easy not having people to consult like straightaway for something. I learnt how to decide for myself, making choices would be a part of my job afterall. To say the very least, at least in this place, ethics plays a role.

LOOONG absence eh?

I am not currently in university’s computer lab.

Why have I not been updating?

Because I have no internet connection back in my room. Long story short, Vodafone failed my credit check, I angry don’t want them to earn my money anymore!

Anyhoo… It’s been 5 weeks since uni has started, long hours, and getting used to the daily routine. Not bad I’ll say =)

3 weeks since I blogged, perhaps its because of the lost of inspiration? Or for the fact that I’m forever in and out of uni, hanging out with housemates until that I’ll be too tired to blog at the end of the day. Anyhoo, I’m still at vista typing this out waiting for my sister to fetch me.

Life here been pretty good. I get to come back from uni any time I want. =D Haha. Although I live just about 20 minutes away, still… there is a sense of independence! Doing own laundry (except iron part; I can’t iron for nuts), finding food to eat, boiling own water etc.etc.

And not to mention I go back every weekend =D

You know….

Sometimes, there can be rough patches in life. I just at a series of them, they' aren’t smoothened yet, but they surely are not scaring me now for I have people walking with me =)

Oh. My apartment now is more like a petting zoo, 8 hamsters, 1 guinea pig and a rabbat (spelling error intended). Uber cute critters I tell you. Well maybe except the severely obese one. LOL.

Still no internet connection over at Vista and I’m too lazy to bring my laptop from my apartment to IMU to enjoy the internet services.

Though, I am able to borrow a line from fellow neighbour from time to time. Thanks neighbour.

I wonder why time passes so fast there.

Of Parents and Children

Was at my mom’s kindergarten’s Annual Sports Carnival situated in Section 17.

I don’t get somehow when children get involved, parents automatically becomes a wild, wild person. Unreasonable even. As being as educated as they are, they are often ignorant when their child comes along.

Never listening to instructions/ announcements is one of them. Perhaps they are thinking “I want a better view of my child”. Yes, I don’t blame them for thinking about that but what if they give and take a little, compromise a slight bit of their vision and let all the other parents enjoy too. Wouldn’t that be great? But sadly, it isn’t the case. There isn’t anything as compromise when it comes to their child.

But some, sets good examples. It was raining in the morning and there was an impromptu decision to move the racetracks inside. Note that the racetrack is actually the plastic tape nailed/ taped to the ground. It was my surprise that some of the parents bent down and help lay out the tracks. Honestly, I was surprised. I didn’t expect anyone to help. Thanks for the ever Malaysian, wait… not just Malaysian; it’s the world's mentality of “Your problem, not mine, I don’t need to help”. Thank you for showing me that there is hope for mankind.

I truly understand the concept of a lioness protecting her cubs, a hen protecting her chicks; but sometimes, too much is just too much. Roughly 10 years ago, I was at the park playing in the playground with the slides, swings everything. A bunch of friends and I used to make up our own version of catching by using the equipments to each of our own advantage. It was decent, rather we had our own set of rules and we applied changes when necessary, how versatile of us. BUT, a father put a stop to our fun, told us to stop running about, reason? He’s concerned about his daughter’s safety and is afraid of us knocking her down by running into her. Damn fucking idiotic. What are you doing in the park then? Cannot run? Then do what? Walk? Where are the kids supposed to play? At home? Niamah… TOO MUCH LA. Want to be concerned for your child’s safety, put her at home! or wrap her with bubble wrap! even better, put her in a giant plastic bubble and disinfect everything 10 meters in radius. Monkey, where you put your brain la?
