Few days from now, the much-awaited nationwide event in the Republic of the Philippines will surely come to pass, just as every Filipino anticipates this momentous event to become the commencement of a better transformation. Even before Election 2010 came, the Philippine Social Media took its action already. Arlene Burgos posted her article just this January 6th this year about the Boto Mo iPatrol Mo: Ako ang Simula or BMPM. You are familiar with this, right? This “booming online industry” is an “election-focused citizen journalism campaign of the ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs”, which Burgos is its new media manager. This campaign foresees citizens to partner with journalists to serve the community. Likewise, the famous jingle of GMA7 sang by the Sexbomb Dancers known as “May bilog na hugis itlog” rings to the ears of every Filipino, both young and old, related to the 2010 Election. This song aims to educate voters of the new automated method of voting.

Presently, most of the running candidates are campaigning in social media sites and networks already. If you would notice on facebook’s ad columns, various presidential candidates individually sell off themselves convincing voters to shade on their names for the upcoming 2010 Election. Fans of these candidates even post videos and photos regarding their candidates’ successful campaign in different places nationwide. Similarly, politicians invade the TV screens by now with their own chants and jingles. Presidential Candidate Manny Villar’s jingle is probably the most famous. It was even a hilarious incident when Baby James, Kris Aquino-Yap’s son, screamed Villar’s name in one of Senator Noynoy Aquino’s campaign, who is also running for the same position. This occurrence, to no surprise, is also being posted in selected media sites in the web.

A recent post of Social Media Philippines just posted an article entitled “Why Social Media Will not work in Philippine Election 2010”. Compared to America’s respond on Obama’s triumph during the US Election, Filipinos are “not that savvy in terms of net technology.” You see, there are some things people must consider first before using social media. Goals, strategies, and authenticity are some of the things tackled. Just like what it said: “PR people should consider these things listed above. You don’t just tell your clients to be in social media channels and imitate what others are doing. There’s this certain characteristic to be believable when using social media and that is being human and true.”

Derived from Wikipedia’s definition, social media is media designed to be disseminated through social interaction, created using highly accessible and scalable publishing techniques. This media, unlike the customary industrial media, uses the internet and web-based technologies to transform broadcast media monologues (one to many) into social media dialogues (many to many). Now what differences does it make? Well, it actually differs a lot! With social media’s advantages, news and information can rapidly extend not just through televisions, radios and newspapers alone, but even through internet forums, weblogs, social blogs, miroblogging, picture sharing, and social bookmarking.

The advancement of media from a one-to-many concept of delivering information has rapidly evolved, like what Wiki defined, into many-to many perceptions. When the Web 1.0 developed into 2.0 last 2004, internet developed into a “high-technology” medium in spreading out information, and not just the usual source of information. People enjoy social media’s benefits by interacting with what is written in the site. Facebook, in particular, allows users to post what they want to say, upload videos and photos that other users can freely respond or react to it, and even create enjoyable and addictive applications that many users are avidly taking pleasure in. Likewise, social sites like Facebook and Twitter create a new set of social media relationship. These sites fashion a global community that an ordinary person can be comfortable to mingle with. Together with this, users can communicate and socialize to other people regardless of age and location. Yet, social media’s advantages are not just for pleasure and entertainment alone. The ripples of advantages went far beyond even to deliver current events instantly.

Do you know that social media breaks the tradition of informing news by a professional journalist alone? With social media, an ordinary person like you and me can deliver current events in a high-speed manner. In this approach, the whole world is then connected and informed instantly. One classic example is the ever-known event about the World Trade Center. Videos and stories from common people mark a great contribution in the field of broadcasting. Also the Tsunami in Indonesia was widely broad casted through the videos ordinary people contributed. If it’s not because of them, we couldn’t have been updated on the latest news that occurred during these times.

Mindanao has many interesting people, attractions, and traditions that have captivated the hearts of the locals and its visitors. Over the course of many years, the big island has kept up with the times and is very much connected to the world through the internet.

The internet has changed the face of Mindanao and has made more people aware of the culture and history of the island. One of the most effective media in promoting Mindanao is blogging.

This year, the bloggers of Mindanao will hold its third blogging summit that allows bloggers from and of Mindanao to convene and uphold the common goal to celebrate and promote Mindanao.

The Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3 has the theme “Mindanao Bag-ohon ang Panan-aw”, which aims to promote the beauty and strength of Mindanao and eradicate the negative perceptions and notions that people from different parts of the world have about the island.

The MBS 3 will be held on October 24, 2009, from 8am to 5pm, at the Pearlmont Inn, Limketkai Drive, Cagayan de Oro City.

I don’t also believe this is only a result of a Photoshop image because the friends of this woman on screenshot below look real. If this woman is so liberated then she can easily forget all about this nightmare in her life. But if she is kind of a conservative type woman, then the healing process of such embarrassment would take her sometime. To heal the wound such as this kind is not easy. Can you imagine the world sees this Facebook mistake?

I take some exploration to both web base email and here is what I discover, uniquely. A trendily obvious that if you type in gmail in your address bar it will redirect you to gmail.com and so as you type in mail.google.com but in Yahoo it’s a bit different. Users prefer to type in shorter than longer keys.

When it comes to Yahoo most people type in yahoo.com and click the mail menu button or simple type in mail.yahoo.com and directly opens to the yahoo mail log in features, both cases are similar but yahoo is bit mouse-click consuming.

But here’s the good thing, if gmail.com is for Google mail, what’s for Yahoo? Simple type in ymail.com in your address bar and it will redirect you yahoo mail log in page. Try now and you begin to love yahoo again but I guarantee you that Google still the best!
