Super chique

I'm very very pleased with my new cloche... I always thought that I wouldn't like a black hat, but actually I love it. It looks much more elegant than the pink and green ones I used to knit :).

Time to show you the end result, I guess...

I'll take a better picture another time ;) I need it for the pattern anyway. Talking about patterns, I estimate that I still have to write about 5 patterns, which I promised to make before. Seems like a hell of a job. But I'll try ;)

This is what I came up with. I've never knitted a lacy scarf yet, so I'll have to see (and hope ;)) that it will stay nice and flat. There will be bands of black stripes and white lace, but I'm considering to do some black lace as well... Don't know yet.

It's a great project until now... Just straight ahead knitting while watching Glee ;).
FO Friday

I can show you my new hat now :D. I've worn it since Christmas already, and I really like it. I've actually started knitting another one. I wrote the pattern, and as soon as I finish my second hat, I'll put the pattern up for testing on ravelry. I need to proof read it first!

The second one will be black with a white i-cord. I thought those colours would make this hat a classic! Let's see ;)

I still have to weave in the ends, which I dislike so much that it will probably take me weeks to finish,... And I have to add the decorative I-cord buttons which I showed you before.
For those of that don't remember anymore:

I loved spool knitting as a child, and I still prefer it to regular i-cording. It's actually quite relaxing.

I bought the new spool in the picture. I actually had to ask the shop keeper where I could find them, and she looked a little odd at me and said I could find it in the toy section. But nevermind ;).

I wanted to do a small project to get into it again, and I decided to make some hair ties, as I used to to together with my grandma when I was little.

And this is the result. I couldn't put a stop to it, until I needed the spool to make the strap for my new cloche.
The good news is that I made an I-cord like edging which I think turned out very well...

The bad news is that I tried the neck warmer on (after weaving in all the ends!) and I decided that I didn't like the shape of it.

The two overlapping points didn't match up very well, and the neck warmer was way to big... So, I ripped the whole thing, and I started over... No pictures on that yet, unfortunately. I made it a lot smaller, but the pointy design is the same. I only made one point however, because the two points were a problem.

And I made a decorative button out of I-cord. I do want to use that one for the new design.

I now realize that I haven't showed just the result of that yet.... Oops. I'll take a picture as soon as possible :). But because for me only a hat is never good enough, I bought one more skein of yarn and started knitting a matching neck warmer. I made some good progress in the week (not during Christmas however of course :)), and this is the result.

I just love the wonderfull colours of this yarn!

I have a V-neck coat, so I wanted a pointy neck warmer to cover the open space. I didn't want to have a cowl to pull over my head, I already have to many, so this was the solution... The pointly parts are supposed to overlap as in the picture below. I have some problem with a curly edge, and I still have to see how the fix that. I'll keep you posted!
I used self striping 30% wool, 70% acrylic yarn. The brim consists of 2 layers to create a nice edge. I like it, but it doesn't feel quite finished yet. I'll make some kind of welted band, maybe a small i-cord. Not sure yet.

I also started another cardigan project, with this off-white Drops Alpaca I bought a while ago. I have knitting a few rounds, so there is not much result to show yet.

I finished the gloves which I frogged over and over again. I'm very pleased with them now. The pattern is not done yet, but it will be finished soon, as it is not a lot of work, and then I'll put it up for testing on ravelry. If your interested in testing, just leave a comment.
And as you might have noticed already, I'm changing the look of the weblog a little. I'm learning how to write HTML now and how to use photoshop, so I can do all the design myself. Although I do sometimes think that I'm doing more other things involved in the weblog/webshop than knitting, haha. But if you have any suggestions for the layout etc, please let me know!

I finished one glove, and I'm working on the other one. Hope to finish soon, because it's getting colder and colder over here :(. I'm longing for spring already....

A review on Shop4craft's buttons

A while ago, I ordered wooden buttons for my knitting projects... I couldn't choose just one set, so I ordered a whole bunch, and I'm so happy with them! And also the service from Shop4craft (via Etsy). I even got a small present with my order.

Here are some pictures of the buttons. They all were packaged very neatly in small paper bag... So cute :)

I haven't had any time to knit or blog last few weeks. My boyfriend and I moved in together, so a lot of things had to be done, and besides that, we didn't have an internet connection.

Now I'm slowly picking up my knitting projects again. I really missed it. I'm knitting a pair of gloves. I started on them for the third time now, because the first two versions just weren't perfect. I'll show them later.

A while ago, I ripped an old grey sweater, because I like the yarn for the texture and softness. I used it to knit a cabled skirt. I never knitted a skirt before, and I had to redo the waist 4 times to get it right, but in the end it worked out. I made a lining this weekend and this is the end result.

My intention was to sew on buttons in the knit patch in the front waist, but I couldn't find any nice ones at our local market.

But then... I discovered this shop on etsy... It is just great! I ended up spending $25 on buttons, ... I know... but they are so pretty... I hope they'll arrive soon :D

I'll show you when I get them ;)

I got very busy. Two weeks ago, I started working at my first 'real' job. And besides that, I'm still supervising the pattern testing of my Maya's Cardigan. Most testers have knit the front and back panel and they are working on the sleeves. Did did however find some mistakes that slipped into the pattern... Mostly because of the complicated honeycomb pattern, it is very easy to make a maths mistake if you don't write down each stitch at the time your knitting.

Meanwhile, I did knit a scarf for next winter. It's a triangular scarf, knitted in DK weight acrylic yarn. It is a little lacy, but not too much, making sure it is warm enough to wear in winter. I'm planning to make a pattern for it if there is interest in it. Might take me a while though...

This is supposed to be a piece of my new winter set... I want to knit a pair of lacy gloves and a beret. Must love berets!

So, let me known in the comments what you think about the scarf!

At first I thought nobody liked the design, because I didn't get any replies the first two days, but then luckily people applied. It is great really. Although it takes more time than I thought to keep track of everyones progress, the small mistakes that slipped in the pattern while calculating other sizes, are all corrected.

The progress is very good, most of the test knitters have completed one front panel already... I just can't wait to see their results :)

I don't have any photos to show for now, but I'll keep you updated.
I handed in my thesis on friday, and now I'm officially graduated... And that means... holiday and knitting time :D
So, yesterday, I started writing down the pattern for the cardigan I showed you earlier.
I just finished the pattern for size 36, and I'm going to adapt the pattern to sizes 32-48. I already found some sizing tables which I can use. And afterwards, there will be some pattern testing (if you are interested already, just leave a comment, because first-come, first-served).
And also... I haven't come up with a name yet... So any suggestions are welcome (also in the comments ;)). To provide some inspiration,... Here are some pictures.
I started knitting my new socks while my cardigan isn't finished yet.
I do like the yarn a lot. It's 75% wool superwash and 25% polyamid. I'm used to knitting with acrylic yarn, because it isn't itchy, so I was a little indecisive of ordering it. But now I think it's great. I knitted a part of the sock in a lacy pattern, which I want to continue on the topside of the foot. I think I'll reinforce the heel and sole with heel stitch, but I'm not there yet. There are some picks of what it looks like. I tried to stretch it a little, because otherwise, the lace pattern doesn't really show...
There is still progress in my honeycomb stitch cardigan. Will this be the first cardi I'll actually finish? I already made the front and back panels, and almost an entire sleeve, and I'm still in love with it... I gave the sleeve a buttoned cuff to give it that additional little detail. I'm already past the armhole, and I hope the shoulder will fit in 1 try... And otherwise I'll rip it and just try again ;). I just like the stitch so much, I might knit a sweater in the same style.... I have this idea already about a boat neck sweater.... But let's finish this project first....

Together with the yarn package that arrived last week, I got these 2.5mm sock needles. I really needed to make a needle case for these, because I was afraid they might snap in my bag. So I made another - two actually - needle case in the same one as the checkered one I showed you earlier. I really like the soft purple outside fabric and the way it goes with the purple flower lining. I just need to sew on a button to close it. I just put a sewing pin in it for now.

Yes, I know, it was about time. I bought 4 skeins of sock yarn to make 2 pairs of socks. I picked Fabel Berry Dreams and Delight Rainbow Mix. I wanted to try different types of yarn for the sock knitting. I'm looking forward to knitting those socks. Looking at the swatch, the colors have to be awsome.
I also bought seven skeins of alpace (undyed) to make a sweater/cardigan for the upcoming winter. I want to do something lacy, but I really haven't decided yet. I made a rule for myself that I have to finish the blue honeycomb cardigan first.
