I'm not exactly job searching because I already have another job lined up (I just have to go in for my TB test to be read later today and then a training thing on Monday). So what am I doing to fill up all my free time? Yoga!

Usually, I can't take a yoga class everyday of the week. But when there isn't anything else I ought to be doing, I can fit them in easily. My mom approves. Tomorrow, I'm taking an Intro to Spinning class. I really don't want to go to my first spin class and look like an idiot, and thankfully, the Y thinks of that.

I'm supposed to go on a sailing trip in the Caribbean in June and I'm in a wedding in August. One of my best friends has been doing the plan on her own. She didn't think she needed to go to meetings. Her boyfriend and I said that that was like joining AA and not going to meetings. While that isn't exactly true, Weight Watcher definitely works better with the group.

I finally got her to go on Friday. She said she understands now why meetings are important. It is more than just an official scale. The ideas that the group throws out are priceless. An entire room full of people saying what works for them offers a lot more ideas than just going it alone. Plus, she'll get to count all her exercise points. It is a much better system.

The best part for me though is now I have a reason to go besides just myself. I've joined so many times that I started with week two (the exercise week). Anyway, I'm way heavier than I was last time I joined so they just reset the number. So I am currently at zero. I'll try to mention how much I've lost each week. Not for you so much, but just because I feel like I ought.

Well, not so much now

In case you ever cared to wonder why this blog is named Knot So Ordinary, it was originally supposed to be a knitting blog. It has been many things (at one point it really was a very serious knitting blog). However, I haven't been to good about knitting lately. I mentioned this to a friend from high school who knits like a mad fiend and she said we should be knitting buddies. We've been meaning to see each other for about six months now so I don't know if we'll actually get around to being knitting buddies but I figured it is worth a shot.
I honestly feel like I should have done it ages ago. I stuck it out because I felt like that was what I should do. But it just was a bad situation, and honestly, there are jobs in my field that I would be better equipped to do and would enjoy much more.

I applied for a job working with children in Special Education. I've done the job before. Unfortunately, there is a hiring freeze on my previous job.
One of my best friends in interning at this fantastic yoga studio. I wish I had way more free time to go to class regularly. As it is, I go whenever I can, which isn't that often. There is a great class at 10:30 on Saturdays but today, my boss scheduled me to work at 10. Blah.

I can also go to the local YMCA on my mother's membership card. The biggest problem with those is that I find the teachers very, very hit and miss. I once sat in a class for 45 minutes while the teacher had us breath through one nostril and plug the other. It really felt like a waste of my time.

I even tried Bikram Yoga a few times. That got really boring really fast. The same poses every single time! I started to really miss Downward Facing Dog pose. On top of that, I can't really handle just being told what to do by an instructor who doesn't actually do the poses with the class. I did, however, really enjoy the heat.

If you haven't tried yoga, I seriously recommend it. A lot of new comers get frustrated because they can't do the pose as well as some. But 1) it isn't a competition and 2) with time and practice, most people will be able to do the whole pose. Also, a good level 1 class will be full of people who are struggling along. Yoga is totally worth it. Plus the best yogis I know are my dog and cat. They make it look so easy.

And just think, how many form of exercise have laying there on your back for 5 minutes as a serious part of the class?

I like shopping, and owning stuff is a direct result of shopping (amazing how that works!). Currently, my purses and scarves are in a big pile on one of my shelves. It's impossible to see what I really own, what I really use, and what I really ought to donate in its current arrangement.

After getting fed up with this dilemma, I decided I need to invest in an over-the-door purse hanger thing. I'm not a normally organized person. I know where things are but if you saw the state of my desk in my bedroom you would understand that order does not come naturally to me. I hope I have some time today to figure it all out.

I know my mom will be thrilled.

As a side note, for this blog, I do hope to include way more pictures than the zero so far. My camera is currently out of commission (I really just need to buy new batteries), but I hope to fix that shortly.

I love a bad one too. Heck, I even love balls of yarn yearning to become cardigans. For my birthday, my mother bought me two new cardies. Hilariously, they are the exact same style in two very different colors. One is a navy/heather color and the other is fuchsia. Most of my current cardies are gray, black, navy, or brown, so fuchsia adds a nice punch of color. I am looking forward for the weather to cool off a bit so I can wear them. Nice thing about living in San Diego is that I can always wear a cardigan and not have to cover it up with other big coats. Another reason why Southern California is way better than the rest of the country.

By the way, I really can be this insipid.

I think it is because I'm taking a class about addiction and so I had to go to an AA meeting. I feel like I keep talking about addiction. I feel surrounded by addicts. But I have to say that that AA meeting I went to was a life changing event.

I have someone in mind to take to a meeting of Overeaters Anonymous or even Debtors Anonymous. I really feel like he would benefit from it. The trouble is that you can't make anyone get better who isn't ready to get better. I don't know when he'll be ready. I think everyone who knows him is ready for him to be ready. How do I tell him that I'm so willing to go to every meeting with him? I want to support him. I'm just not sure that there is any part of his current actions that I currently can support...

I have to admit it's very strange. I watched the clock switch over to midnight last night and the first thing I thought about was wanting to blog. I haven't wanted to blog in ages. Last time I blogged was a totally catastrophe. Oh well. Here I am. Having another go at it.

This isn't a blog with any purpose. I'm not out to write about my life through any particular lens. I just want to write about things that matter to me. If nobody reads it, I can live with that.
