V3.1 has been a few weeks in the making, and we believe it provides a significantly improved user experience. If you have purchased a KnowPro app in the past, you should soon see an update available.

Under the hood in KnowPro V3.1:

We implemented a new “Results View” (the view that displays immediately proceeding a quiz). The new view includes graphics, percentages and total time.

We developed a “Review Section” to allow students to review incorrectly answered questions. Incorrectly selected answers are highlighted in red, while the correctly selected answer is highlighted in green.

The Review Section also includes the ability to provide an explanation. Let’s say the student is studying Algebra and answers a question correctly after one incorrect guess:

When an explanation is available, the student can see an arrow pointing right on the correct answer button. Pressing that button will show a scrollable explanation. Below are two screenshots (scrolled) of the explanation for the above problem.

We received feedback from customers. They wanted a way to filter out the questions they know from the ones they don’t know. So we developed a proprietary Adaptive Learning System for removing “mastered” questions from subsequent quizzes, thereby allowing the student to more directly work on the topics that require more practice.

You won’t be able to see this improvement unless you’re running on an “old” device. (“Old” is in quotes because Apple seems to come out with new device models every year!) In any case, we noticed that users of iPod touch 2G and iPhone 3 models — who have considerably slower processors and less RAM than current models — were experiencing app crashes and unexpected behavior with large datasets (e.g., SAT Vocabulary and GRE Vocabulary). We refactored code to reduce the memory footprint and believe that this issue has been resolved.

We provided the ability for users to store completed quizzes. This is another area that isn’t seen by the user, but was a significant improvement to our data structure. In addition, we’ve updated the “High Scores View” to allow for quick access to the Review Section from an action sheet.

We made numerous updates and enhancements based on user feedback, including a fix to the Twitter Engine so that it is now oAuth/xAuth compliant.

We’ll be updating all apps within the KnowPro library, but in the meantime we’ve updated the following apps for testing purposes:

• Anatomy
• SAT Vocabulary
• GRE Vocabulary

These three apps are currently “in review” by Apple, and we’ll update this post when they are available for download.
