First impression

What would I do first when I look at a handwriting ?. I may sound a little strange here, but I would give importance to what my intuition says. That is, what would be my first impression of the handwriting.

I think, it is important to pay importance to your gut reaction. At this point, I would like to stress that I am no graphologist, all I have learnt is from some good books of graphology which I happened to get my hands on and I am writing I am writing all this just out my own interest.

Coming back to the subject, what I have noticed is that quite a few aspects of handwriting analysis is based on nothing but common sense. For example, when I look at the quality of the sheet of paper, I can infer something about the quality of his environment and most times those inferences would be correct. If I look at a person always writing on an expensive, very high quality sheet, I can assume that he is from a very well to do family. Rich people don't like to use low quality goods especially when they know that they can afford it and would make no big difference to their financial position, will they!!, and at the same time neither can I expect an average middle class person to use a very low quality papers all the time.

Next what I would look is, how pleasing to the eye it is. By 'pleasing to the eye', I don't mean how neat the handwriting is, but how balanced it is. Is the space between the words uniform ?, Is the space between the lines uniform ? How the margins are built in the page? Are the lines well placed or are loops hanging down between two successive lines ?

If there are some disturbances in the above mentioned questions, then there is definitely a lack of balance somewhere. What can these mean ? Think over, I shall answer these in the next post.

How much can you analyse using a single stroke??

Whenever someone analyses handwriting, it is important to get the whole picture. One cannot conclude about personality on the basis of just one stroke.

First of all, the frequency of the manner of writing should be taken into account. Usually if a particular stroke is found which repeats less than 4-5 times in a page, then it could be an occasional characteristic of the writer. If it repeats for, say about 5-7 times, we can call it a trait, but if it repeats for more, it can be inferred as a habit.

But the bottom line is one just cannot conclude about the writer even if a particular stroke repeats for many times in a page.

For example, it is generally said that if t bars are crossed high on the stem, the person will have high self esteem and theoretically sets very high goals. The difficulty is, we cannot tell anything about the writers willingness and commitment to meet his goals, and we are also not sure if the writer has the energy to go on and complete his goals. Information about these is extracted from other parts of the handwriting. Hence, what is preferred by analysts is an holistic approach.

Analyzing based on a single trait would be like playing a team game, but only individually,and not as a team. For a team to do well, all its components(players), have to do well, and work as a team. There is no use if the players give excellent individual performances, but the team doesn't do well. Just like that, the analysis will be effective if one considers all different possibilities of a stroke and looks at them objectively.

I guess this is enough to convince you of the importance of the need for a holistic approach in handwriting analysis.

Your handwriting can give a measure of how much you follow your instincts, or you take a decision based on your instincts. Intuition means " Derived from or prompted by a natural tendency or impulse. " It could also be called instinctive.

Intuitiveness can be seen in handwriting (graphology) by the breaks given between letters, that is the words are partly in cursive and partly disjoint. These people have unique physic abilities, also known as the sixth sense. They might possess special prophetic characteristics.

Look at the disconnected 'o' in the word

So, are you intuitive?? It sometimes does help to be, and remember never ignore your gut feeling, who can tell, you may be right.

The power of ' Will Power'

A blind man is able to read, a person who is dumb is able to communicate, there are many more inspiring examples in real life .
In daily life situations we see some businessmen or even ordinary working people who are very busy, but yet make their own time to pursue their hobbies. We often do see people get out of impossible situations quiet frequently by their sheer will power.
On the other hand we also see some people as talented and capable as people of the first category, but generally do not tend to do things according to their wishes.The worst part is they might even stop trying after just a single failure, which is not a very encouraging prospect. Invariably people who fall in the first category mentioned here will be more successful. The difference between these two categories is their 'Will Power'.

How to know about will power from your handwriting ?
Will power can be seen in graphology in the letters 't' and sometimes 'i'. The pressure given by the writer on his 't' bars indicates his will power. More the pressure, stronger the will power of the writer. Sometimes pressure on the dots on the letter 'i' in the writer's handwriting sample also gives a measure of his/her will power. This is a desirable quality and intensifies other individual traits of the writer.

Look at the heavy pressure on the 't' bars and the dot on the 'i' indicating the strong will power of the writer.

Will power is the strength to carry out one's decisions, wishes, or plans. It is unwavering firmness of character and action. It is a mysterious energy gifted to living beings by the almighty which when used in the right direction creates wonders which one can only dream of.

Are you an aggressive person ??

Aggressive means "Inclined to behave in an actively hostile fashion" or it also could be "Intense or harsh approach towards other things or beings.

This aggressive nature could be shown in graphology. It is shown by the strokes going up in the lower zone of y,g,j,etc... See picture.

Notice the hard pressed upstrokes at the end of the 'q', 'y' ,'j', it could also be in the 'g'. This tells that the person is aggressive by nature. This person likes to assert himself in a physical manner and is more often than not physically aggressive. You can see such handwriting in people who play high intensity and physically violent sports like rugby,wrestling,etc...

This can be a positive or a negative trait, because there are certain situations where you need to be aggressive to come out of it. For example people who play rugby have to be aggressive, same with fast bowlers in cricket. On the other hand people who work in offices must be very careful not to offend their customers by their over-aggressiveness.

Are you Enthusiastic??

Enthusiasm could mean great excitement for or interest in a subject or cause. It could also mean a lively interest in something. It motivates others towards action. It is the confidence you get when doing something. It surely is good to be enthusiastic.

You sure like to be enthusiastic. Lets see what your Handwriting tells about that. It is revealed in your handwriting by the letter 't'. It is related to the size of your cross of 't' or size of your 't' bars, the larger the size of your 't' bars the more enthusiastic you are. A person who has a very small 't' bar length usually has the tag 'lethargic' strongly associated to him. Usually people with medium sized t bars are also enthusiastic but to a lesser degree than those with long sized ones.

If your drawing has a variety of slants, then you are probably a very versatile person, and may be sometimes inconsistent in your behaviour. You are capable of doing many things competently.

If you draw tic-tac-toe symbols, you are a person to like competition, appreciate thinking and probably you are also a good planner.

If a doodler keeps writing check marks, that is ticks then, it points that the doodler may be skeptic. He needs encouragement. He might instinctively or habitually doubt or question, or disagree with assertions or generally accepted conclusions.

Pictures of ugly faces tells that the doodler has fear of others or self at that instant of time. It might also be a dislike of other people or self.

If you keep drawing brackets, it indicates you like to study facts and enjoy solving problems. You are a person who focuses on the problem as stated, synthesizes all the information and then achieve a solution.

What do you do when you are really bored, most probably if you see a pencil and a paper, you start scribbling something aimlessly on the paper, but did you know , even this has a specific meaning??

A doodle is to scribble aimlessly, especially when preoccupied, this is done to kill time. So what do you scribble or draw on the paper.

Right slanted doodles indicates progressiveness, and new ideas.

Left slanted doodles show caution and hesitation, a secretive mood. If the shape looks something like a cube it also means a practical and a logical mind.

Toothpick doodles might show a desire to be in the limelight, and might also be a exaggerated ego.

A person who keeps drawing beautiful pictures is a lover of beauty and nature, it could be a lovely picture of eyes or a beautiful scenery.

This post tells you about the persons ability to being diplomatic. One of the traits about this character can be found in lower-case m's and n's.

In general if the second hump in the m is larger than the first hump, that is it slopes downwards, this person tends to be diplomatic. The more the slope, more diplomatic the person is.
Diplomatic means, using tact and sensitivity in dealing with others' remarks about you.
Many successful people are diplomatic, think of Michael Jordan!!.

If it is the other way round, that is if the lowercase m's and n's are sloping upwards, then the person tends to be more self conscious. The degree of self-consciousness depends on the slope of the m or n. Self conscious means excessively conscious of one's appearance or manner and how he/she is perceived by others. This means dependence on public opinion. This could sometimes lead to a feeling of pride and arrogance.

1. The baseline here s perfectly straight, he definitely was straight forward in whatever he did.

2. The 'm' and 'n' humps are square, this could imply that he had an interest in mechanics, also he was very creative, he encouraged thinking.

This is a person anyone can guess, he is one of the most famous sporting hero around, he is Michael Jordan.

The 'm' slant is going down, particularly the second hump, this shows that he was very diplomatic and down to earth. He also is very diplomatic.

Hope that you will be interested in reading this post. I will try to make it as short as possible, too much content removes the fun out of it. Have you ever wondered what personality traits 'successful' people have that perhaps you are missing out.

Here are some essential traits :

Keep your 't' bars crossed high.

Complete your 'y' loop.

Dont make a large loop in your 'd' stem.

Close the loop in your 'd' stem.

Keep your 'o' as clean as possible.

Let the stems of 'g' and 'y' be large, but not too large.

People with these traits more often than not tend to lead a better life than their counter parts.

Let us see the signature of a successful person

There are two main aspects here

1. Just look at the crossing of the 't' i.e. the t bar , they are high , this signifies high self confidence, high ambition , and the willingness to make it big.

Have you wondered how smart you are compared to other people, if the answer is yes , then I suggest you take an IQ test .
Yes it is not related to handwriting , or is it ?

Are you optimistic person or a pessimist

Your baseline slope can tell if you are an optimistic person or a pessimist.

Baseline is how a line looks like in your handwriting on a sheet of paper. See pictures for clear understanding.

If baseline is ascending :

This person has high hopes and ambitions. He believes that tomorrow and day after is bound to be better than today. He is capable of bouncing back from bad situations.

If baseline is straight :

This person is very practical. He has the right proportion of enthusiasm. He bases his decisions on facts purely , doesn't allow emotions to come in his way.

If baseline slopes down :

This person might be feeling depressed at the time of writing , he normally has a pessimistic attitude. He gives up easily and generally has no hopes at all.

If baseline first slopes up, then descends :

Hey , do you feel bad and hurt when someone scolds or criticises you , you curse people in your mind when they say " You look pathetic in that dress" . Does your heart sink when someone tells you are not doing well , then you definitely are sensitive to criticism. Even I was like this before, but came to know about this trait when I happened to visit the website handwritinguniversity.com .

This is may be hindering your progress in your daily life , it is possible to change yourselves .

One can find this in how people write their small letters 'd' and 't'.

If your small letter 'd' has a loop in it's stem , then you are sensitive to criticism in your personal matters like looks, appearance, etc.

This is one of the very interesting topics in graphology - Margins , this can be used only when you have a full sheet of writing. Your right margin can give you an indication of how easily you can make friends.

It deals with the amount of space you leave blank in a paper

Wide Upper margin :
This shows formality, modesty of the writer and respect for the reader. Normally formal letters are written this way. Whereas narrow lower margin indicates informality, we write letters to our friends like this.

Wide lower margin:
This shows superficiality in the mind of the writer and to some extent idealism, whereas a very narrow lower margin indicates fatigue or may be depression.

Even left margin:
This shows self discipline and good manners in the writer, but a wide and even left margin shows self respect, good cultural background.

Even right margin:
This is rare and uncommon. This indicates intolerance and rigidness of the writer, a wide and even right margin , might mean that the person has a fear of future.

The right margin shows the distance you keep between yourself and others around you , the more the distance, the more the distance you keep from others.

Your slant, it is determined by seeing the upstrokes. If the whole matter you write appears to be tilted to right, you are emotionally expressive (in correct terms extrovert ). Where you cross your small letter 't' :
1. If your t bar is above the stem, you have a very high self esteem and sometimes tend to be a dreamer.

2. If your t bar is very high, and is touching the top of stem, then you have very high self confidence and self esteem. It also tells that , you can plan ahead very well. You are not tired of repeating the same tasks again and again. In an argument , you normally lose out, and think after a while what you should have said 20-30 minutes ago. Your small letter g's and y's : The thing to look out for here is your lower loops in g's and y's. It indicates your sexual reactivity. If you have a medium sized g and y loop which comes up to the baseline , it indicates a healthy sexual life, and you react normally.If the loop is really large then you know what it means isn't it. You are easily excited .... . If you have a very narrow loop not coming up to the baseline, then it indicates a sexually weak person. These letters give a measure of your physical drives.

It takes about a month or a little more for an average person to see the changes in his character after he has changed his handwrting, but its advisable that people dont go on changing their own or others' handwriting without consulting a graphologist.

Know what the size of your handwriting indicates , here is a self explanatory note

Very Small to small writing:
Tiny writing indicates the writer's ability to concentrate and focus extremely well. People with this style go into the details of whatever they do. They don't like to waste time and energy. People with this handwriting, have extreme ability to focus on their work. They may not be socially very much active.They have a keen sense of observation. The smaller the writing the more is the ability to concentrate.

Medium or Average Sized writing:
This writer is a well balanced person and have a healthy mind. Often they make good businessmen. They have the ability to grasp worldly things quickly. They are normally socially outgoing people.

Large Sized writing:
It indicates more of an active but restless mind. These people are self reliant and also they have the ability to influence others. They rate themselves highly , and don't like to be criticised. You can see that many actors have large sized writing. Page 3 personalities are classic examples for this type of writing.

Very Large Sized writing :These people have a very high ego , they are also very sensitive to criticism. They never like to be criticised and tend to be more egoistic than others . They are socially very very active.

What does pressure indicate ??

Pressure - Pressure is the force a writer applies on the paper while writing. It indicates the emotional depth of the writer. Emotional depth is completely different from how a person reacts (reaction) and expresses his emotion. Emotional depth is how much your six senses feel a situation. The more the pressure the writer applies on the paper, the more he feels the emotions of a situation. For example, if a writer's slant is upright and he uses a lot of pressure , it is something like he forgives but never forgets. The pressure can be felt by running your fingers over the backside of the paper. Of course the pressure also depends on quality of the paper and the pen used.

This is just a short note on slant. I came across graphology and really liked it. I am writing this blog, because I want to tell people about this relatively less known science. And don't go about changing others handwriting or your own, it may be dangerous. This is just to learn. For example if one has a trait to be "emotionally withdrawn" and another trait for "he tends to get angry very fast", then ,if you change your slant to the right without doing anything to change the other trait " tendency to get angry very fast ", you are inviting trouble. Probably didn't get it right, read on , you will know about it.

The first basic of handwriting analysis is something known as zones. You always imagine a line of handwriting, being divided into three equal parts.These are known as zones and are classified into upper , middle and the lower zones. The upper zone tells something about intellectual and spiritual thoughts , the middle zone speaks of your social ethics and your daily life routines, the lower zone stands for your physical drives. It's OK if you don't get a complete picture of it , now you will gradually get to know it.

Whenever a person looks at a handwriting which is to be analysed the first thing one looks for is the overall slant . That is, how the matter generally looks like on the paper , it has mainly three categories (i) leans towards the left (left slant). (ii) vertically upright (straight). (iii) leans towards right (right slant) .

What it says :
If it leans to the left to a large extent, it means that the person tends to be withdrawn to himself. He doesn't like to mix up with the people around.Such a person may have experienced a very bad tragedy earlier in his life and is scared of the future. If you have a left slant , it is recommended that you do something about it immediately.

If it is vertically upright or very slightly leaning towards right , this person is ruled by his head and not by heart. This is a very positive trait one can have. Emotions have no or very less roll to play in the decisions he makes. All his decisions are based on logic and thinking. There is no need for this person to express emotions. When someone asks him a favour or asks him to buy something, he needs to know all the facts , any emotional stories will have no effect on the writer.Situations in which such people react, are extreme pressure, extreme stress, etc...

If the handwriting is leaning towards right , then this person is ruled more by his heart rather than brain. Such a person tends to be emotionally expressive. The more it leans towards right , the more is the feelings shown by such a person. A sad story will have an affect on him and he will be moved. Such people tend to be very good actors as they are able readily express emotions. These people will prosper in jobs that requires connection with the public. This can be a positive as well as a negative trait.
