সৃষ্টি স্থিতি ও প্রলয়ের আরো এক রূপ দেবাদিদেব মহাদেব । সনাতন ধর্মের সর্বময় কর্তা তিনি , তিনি জন্মরহিত, শাশ্বত, সর্বকারণের কারণ; তিনি স্ব-স্বরূপে বর্তমান, সমস্ত জ্যোতির জ্যোতি; তিনি তুরীয়, অন্ধকারের অতীত, আদি ও অন্তবিহীন।

ধর্মের প্রতি মানুষের অগাধ বিশ্বাস জন্ম দিয়েছে নানা তীর্থক্ষেত্রর। শুধু আজ নয় , বহুকাল আগে থেকেই এই ধর্মের প্রতি টান , ভারতের বুকে জন্ম দিয়েছে বহু মন্দিরের। তেমনি একটি মন্দির রয়েছে এই বাংলার বুকে , যা বাবা বড়ো কাচারী নামে পরিচিত। এই মন্দিরে মানত করে পুজো দিলে নাকি সব মনোস্কামনাই পূর্ণ হয়। ২৫০ বছরের পুরোনো বাবা বড়ো কাছারির মহিমা শুনলে সবাই শিউরে ওঠেন।

দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগনার বাখরাহাট , মহানগরীর সীমান্ত হলেও , একটা গ্রাম্য পরিবেশের ছোয়া আছে। সদর আমতলার অদূরে সাধারণ এক গ্রাম, নাম ঝিকুরবাড়িয়া। এখানেই আছে দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগনার দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম তীর্থ শ্রী শ্রী বাবা বোরো কাচারীর মন্দির।

দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগনার এক প্রত্যন্ত গ্রামে অবস্থিত এই মন্দির। এই মন্দিরের ইতিহাস বড়োই অলোকিক। কিন্তু কেন বাবা বড়ো কাচারী এত জাগ্রত , কি তার ইতিহাস , কিভাবেই বা যাবেন। আসুন শুনে নি।

বড়ো কাচারী কথাটির অর্থ হলো বড়ো কোর্ট বা আদালত। এটির আরো একটি নাম ভুতের কাচারী , এখানে শিব পরিচিত ভূতনাথ হিসাবে।

মন্দিরটি অবস্থিত একটি বড়ো অশত্থ গাছের নিচে। আর গাছটির গোড়াতেই রয়েছে একটি শিব লিঙ্গ। বাবা ভুতনাথের কাছে মানত করে নিজের প্রার্থনা জানিয়ে , মনোস্কামনা পূরণ হয়নি , এমন কথা শোনাই যায় না।

এই মন্দিরের ইতিহাস ঘিরে রয়েছে এক অলোকিক রহস্য। জনশ্রুতি আছে বাংলার নবাব আলীবর্দী খানের শাসনকালের শেষ সময় , অর্থাৎ ১৭৫৫ সালের সময়কালে ভাস্কর পন্ডিতের নেতৃত্বে মারাঠা বর্গীরা আক্রমণ করেছিল সারা বাংলা জুড়ে । তাদের উৎপাতের দৌরাত্বে স্থানীয় গ্রামের লোকজন এবং দুর্দশাগ্রস্ত চাষীরা বাধ্য হয়ে কাছের একটি জঙ্গলে আশ্রয় নেয়। জঙ্গলটি আদপে ছিল একটি স্মশান। চারদিকে কাস আর ঘন রাম চিতার বন।

বহু বছর আগের কথা , তখন এই স্থান টা বাওয়ালি ও সুতানটি গোবিন্দপুরের জমিদার সাবন্ন রায় চৌধুরীদের যৌথ তালুকের মধ্যে ছিল। সেই সময় থেকেই শোনা যায় এই বড়ো কাছারির নাম। প্রচলিত আছে , স্বয়ং ভূতনাথ সেই স্মশানে বিচার সভা বসাতেন। তাই তখন থেকে এই স্থানটির নাম হয় ভুত কাচারী।

কালক্রমে ভূতনাথ শিবের বিচার সভাই সর্বশ্রেষ্ট হিসাবে প্রসিদ্ধি লাভ করে , আর স্থানটির নাম হয় বড়ো কাচারী।

তার কিছুকাল পরে এক সাধু জঙ্গলের মধ্যে দিয়ে যাবার সময় , এই স্মশানে আশ্রয় নেয়। আর তার পর থেকেই স্থানীয় মানুষজন , নানান ভাবে উপকৃত হতে থাকে। তিনি বাকসিদ্ধ ছিলেন। তাই মানুষের ধারণা হয় , যে তিনি স্বয়ং ভূতনাথ। এর পর থেকে এই স্থানের প্রচুর উন্নতি হয়। তারপর সেই বাকসিদ্ধ সাধুর মৃত্যু হলে দুঃখের ছায়া নেমে আসে স্থানীয় মানুষদের মধ্যে। ভক্ত বা সাধুর মরদেহকে না পুড়িয়ে সমাধিস্থ করা হয় এই স্মশানে। আর সেই স্থান টিকে তারা পুজো করতে থাকেন।

এটা সত্য ঘটনা হোক, অলৌকিক হোক বা কাকতালীয় ব্যাপার হোক , ওই সাধুর সমাধি ক্ষেত্র থেকে একটা অশত্থ গাছ বেরোয়। এবং লোকের ধারণা জন্মায় যে এটা সাধুরই প্রতিমূর্তি। এরপর থেকেই এই জায়গাটি পূজিত হতে থাকে ভুতনাথের কাচারী হিসাবে। এবং স্থানীয় মানুষরা যা কামনা বাসনা জানাতো গাছটার কাছে , অদ্ভুতভাবে সব মনোস্কামনা পূর্ণ হতে থাকে। ছড়িয়ে পরে স্থানটির মাহাত্ম।

৭৮ এর বন্যায় ঝিকুরবাড়িয়া গ্রামটি অদ্ভুত ভাবে রক্ষা পেলেও , রক্ষা পায়নি অশত্থ গাছটি। প্রচন্ড ভাবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়ে গাছটি নষ্ট হয়ে যায়। গ্রামবাসীদের ইচ্ছায় একই ভাবে আরো একটি অশত্থ গাছ স্থাপন করা হয়। গাছটিকে ঘিরে তৈরী হয় বেদি , যা আজ মন্দিরের চেহারা নিয়েছে।

বহুদূর থেকে মানুষ আসে বাবা বড়ো কাছারির কাছে পুজো দিতে ও মনের কথা জানাতে । ভক্তরা মনোস্কামনা একটা ছোট দরখাস্তে লিখে মন্দিরের গা এ বেঁধে দেন । বাবা বড়ো কাছারির কৃপায় এখনো মানুষ দুঃখ কষ্ট থেকে রেহাই পান।

এখানে কোনো পান্ডা নেই , তাই ভক্তরা নিজেরাই মন্দিরের পূজারীর কাছে ডালা দিয়ে পূজা দিতে পারেন। মন্দির সংলঙ্গ দুধপুকুরে স্নান করে দন্ডি কেটে পূজা দেন অনেক ভক্ত। বড়ো কাছারির মাহাত্ম , নিস্সন্তানদের সন্তান লাভের ইচ্ছে পূরণ করবার জন্য। এছাড়াও জমিজমা সংক্রান্ত সমস্যা , অসুখ , প্রেমে বাধা , এবং বিয়ে না হওয়া , এই সবের জন্য এখানে লোকে পুজো দিয়ে আসে। আর বাবার আশীর্বাদের ফল মিলতেই ভক্তরা গোপাল দিয়ে পুজো দেন এই মন্দিরে।

প্রতি শনি ও মঙ্গলবার এখানে ধুমধাম করে পুজো হয়। চৈত্র মাসের শেষ তিনদিন এখানে গাজন ও নীল উৎসব পালিত হয়। খুব ভিড় হয় মন্দির চত্বর , আর সেই ভাবেই সেজেও উঠেছে বিভিন্ন দোকান পাঠ।

সময়ের সাথে জঙ্গল আজ জনপদ। সেই স্মশান আজ শহরতলিতে বদলে গেছে। কিন্তু রয়ে গেছে বাবার প্রতিরূপ , সেই অশত্থ গাছ। গভীর রাতে সেখানে আজ ও শিবশম্ভু বাবা ভুতনাথের বিচার সভা বসে। সব মিলিয়ে এই দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগনার বাবা বড়ো কাচারী বা ভুত কাচারী খুব প্রসিদ্ধ ও জাগ্রত।

🔴 এখানে আসবেন কিভাবে?

কলকাতার PTS থেকে প্রায় ২৫ কিমি দূরত্বে অবস্থিত বোরো কাচারীর মন্দির । ডায়মন্ড হারবার রোড ধরে বেহালা পেরিয়ে , ঠাকুরপুকুর থেকে ডান দিকের রাস্তাটা ঠাকুরপুকুর বাজার হয়ে প্রায় ১৪ কিমি গেলেই পৌঁছে যাবো বাবা বড়ো কাচারীর মন্দিরে। বিবিরহাট হয়ে যখন বাখরাহাটে প্রবেশ করবেন তখন একটা তোরণের পেরিয়ে বাখরাহাট স্কুলের পাশ দিয়ে চলে আসবেন এখানে।

নয়তো ডায়মন্ড হারবার রোড ধরে আমতলা পৌঁছে সেখান থেকে বিবিরহাট হয়ে পৌঁছে যাওয়া যায় বাবা বড়ো কাচারীর মন্দিরে।

PTS থেকে ডাইরেক্ট বাস পেয়ে যাবেন বাখরাহাট আসার , সেখান থেকে হেটে বা অটো তে পৌঁছে যাবেন মন্দিরে। নয়তো ঠাকুরপুকুর বাজার থেকে বা আমতলা থেকেও বাখরাহাট আসার অটো পেয়ে যাবেন।

ভ্রমণ গন্তব্য গুলোর সাথে ইতিহাসের সম্পর্ক চিরকেলের। তাই আজ সেই একই ভাবে বেছে নিলাম আমার ভ্রমণ গন্তব্য , চলে এলাম রাজবলহাট এ রাজবল্লভী মাতার মন্দিরে |

মন্দিরে কি আছে?

মন্দিরে প্রবেশ করলে প্রথমেই  চোখে পড়বে  একটি নাট মন্দির। তারপর রাজবল্লভী মাতার মন্দির।   মায়ের মন্দির ছাড়াও আছে আট চালা একটি দুয়ার বিশিষ্ট তিনটি   শিবের মন্দির। এবং আলাদা ভাবে   ষড়ভুজাকৃতি  আরো একটি মন্দির। এই মন্দিরগুলোতে অবস্থান করছেন ত্রম্বকেশ্বর , সোমেস্বর , এবং একই মন্দিরে আছেন রাজ্ রাজেস্বর ও নন্দীশ্বর। এছাড়া  ষড়ভুজাকৃতি মন্দিরে অবস্থান  করছেন  বানেশ্বর মহাদেব। আর আছে মায়ের বাড়ির পুকুর ,যা  শাখারি পুকুর নামেও খ্যাত।

মূল মন্দিরে রাজবল্লভী মায়ের  বিগ্রহটি প্রায়  ছয় ফুট উঁচু , দীর্ঘাঙ্গি ও বলিষ্ট প্রকৃতির। রাজবল্লভী  মা শঙ্খ শ্বেতবর্ণা এবং খুব উজ্জ্বল । শ্বেতকালী নামে পরিচিত রাজবল্লভী মা  গঙ্গামাটি দিয়ে নির্মিত।  এই দ্বিভূজা ত্রিনয়নী মূর্তির ডানহাতে ছুরি ও বামহাতে আছে  রক্তপাত্র।  মায়ের মাথায় আছে টায়রা জাতীয় মুকুট ।  মায়ের বাম পা টা রাখা বিরূপাক্ষ মহাদেব এর  মাথায় আর ডান পা  রাখা আছে শায়িত মহাকাল ভৈরবের বুকে।

প্রতিদিন দেবীর অন্নভোগ হয় , আর তার মূল আকর্ষণ ঘন্ট, আর তাতে দেয়া হয় কুচো চিংড়ি । আর দর্শনার্থী রাও এই ভোগ খেতে পারেন। তার জন্য সকালে এসে ২৫ টাকার বিনিময়ে কুপন সংগ্রহ করতে হয় |

জাঙীপাড়া ও রাজবলহাট সংলগ্ন এলাকায় দেবী দুর্গা রাজবল্লভী দেবী রূপে পূজিতা হন।  প্রায় ৫০০ বছরের পুরাতন এই মন্দির  বহুবার সংস্কার কার্যের ফলে প্রাচীন ঐতিহ্য অনেকটাই বিলীন হয়ে গেছে।

রাজবলহাটের ইতিহাস

বর্তমানের রাজবলহাট এর নামটার বুৎপত্তিও কিন্তু রাজবল্লভী মাতার নাম থেকে। প্রাচীন বাংলার রার অঞ্চলের দক্ষিণ অংশে উল্লেখযোগ্য হিন্দু রাজ্য ছিল , যার নাম ভুরীশ্রেষ্ট বা ভুরসুট। আর এই রাজবলহাট ছিল অতীতের ভুরশুট রাজ্যের রাজধানী।

ভুরসুট অঞ্চলের অধিবাসীরা "ভুরিশ্রেষ্ঠী" নামে পরিচিত ছিল। এরা ছিল মূলত বণিক। এদের নামানুসারেই রাজ্যের নামকরণ হয় "ভুরশুট"। পাল সাম্রাজ্যের উত্থানের সময় কোনো এক সুর রাজা এই রাজ্য শাসন করলেও পরবর্তীকালে ধীবর রাজবংশের উত্থান ঘটে।

চতুরানন্ এর নাতি (মেয়ের ছেলে) কৃষ্ণ রায় মুঘল সম্রাট আকবরের রাজত্বকালে মানে ১৫৮৩-৮৪ খৃষ্টাব্দে ভুরশুটের ব্রাহ্মণ রাজবংশের পত্তন ঘটান। তাঁর প্রপৌত্র প্রতাপনারায়ণ রায় (১৬৫২-১৬৮৪) ছিলেন ভুরশুটের সর্বশ্রেষ্ঠ রাজা। তার পুত্র শিবনারায়ন, তস্য পুত্র নরনারায়ণ রায় ভুরশুটে রাজত্ব করেন। এই পরিবারে "রায়বাঘিনী" নামে এই বীরাঙ্গনা মহিলার কথা জানা যায়। তবে তাঁর সঠিক পরিচয় পাওয়া যায় না। সম্ভবত তাঁর নাম ছিল ভবশঙ্করী। ভুরশুটের রাজা রুদ্রনারায়নের সাথে তার বিবাহ হয়।

নরনারায়নের রাজত্বকালের শেষে বা তার মৃত্যুর অব্যবহিত পরে বর্ধমান রাজ কীর্তিচন্দ্র ভুরশুট রাজ্য দখল করে নেন। ভুরশুট রাজ্যে তিনটি দুর্গ ছিল। এগুলি হল গড় ভবানীপুর, পান্ডুয়া (পেড়ো বা পেড়ো বসন্তপুর) ও রাজবলহাট। এই দুর্গগুলির এখন আর কোনো সন্ধান পাওয়া যায় না। তবে হাওড়া জেলায় রাজবলহাটের কাছে দামোদর নদের তীরে ডিহি ভুরশুট বলে একটি জায়গা এখনও আছে। ৫০০ বিঘা জমিকে দেবোত্তর সম্পত্তি হিসেবে দান করেছিলেন ভূরশুট রাজারা দেবী রাজবল্লভীর মন্দিরের সেবায়। এই দেবীর মন্দির বর্তমানে সংস্কার করা হয়েছে।

মন্দির প্রতিষ্টা

ভুরশুটের শেষ ধীবর রাজা শনিভাঙ্গর গড় ভবানীপুরের চতুরানন্ নিয়োগী  নামক এক ব্যক্তির কাছে পরাজিত হন। শোনা যায় চতুরানন এর জামাই আর বর্ধমানের রাজা সদানন্দ রায় এই মন্দির প্রতিষ্টা করেন এবং এই  স্থানে জনপদ ও বাণিজ্য কেন্দ্রও  স্থাপন করেন।

তবে ভূরিশ্রেষ্ঠ রাজ, রাজা রুদ্রনারায়ন রায়, সোরোস শতকে ভুরসুট সাম্রাজ্যের শাসনকালে এই মন্দির এবং মূর্তি পুনঃ প্রতিষ্টা করেন।

আর কি দেখার আছে?

>এখানে অমূল্য প্রত্নশালা নামে একটি সংগ্রহালয় আছে। প্রতিদিন দুপুর ২ টো থেকে রাত ৯ টা অব্দি খোলা থাকে। বুধবার বন্ধ। এবং প্রতি মাসের দ্বিতীয় ও চতুর্থ মঙ্গলবারও বন্ধ থাকে। এখানে এলে দেখতে পাবেন , কাঠের ও পাথরের মূর্তি , কয়েন , টেরাকোটার কাজ , পাণ্ডুলিপি , ডোকরার কাজ , পুরাতন পুঁথি , কাঠের ওপর খোদাই করা চিত্র আর  ফ্লক আর্ট। 

>রাজবলহাট বিখ্যাত তার তাঁত শিল্পের জন্য। এখানে এলে হ্যান্ডলুম এর শব্দ এখনো শোনা যায় , এমনকি সুতা শুকাতে দেওয়াও দেখতে পাওয়া  যায়।

>শিলপাড়ায় আছে ১৭২৪ খ্রিস্টাব্দে শীল বংশের লম্বোদর শীল নির্মিত শ্রীধর দামোদর এর টেরাকোটা মন্দির।

>এছাড়া আছে  ১৭৩৩ খ্রিস্টাব্দে নির্মিত  ঘটকপুরের রাধাকান্ত মন্দির। মন্দিরটি আটচালা ত্রিখিলান যুক্ত। 

>ঘটকপুরের রাধাকান্ত মন্দির কিন্তু প্রসিদ্ধ তার রথযাত্রার জন্য। তাই এই রথ টাও দেখে নিতে পারেন।

অবস্থানহুগলি জেলার জাঙ্গিপাড়া ব্লকে

কিভাবে আসবেন?

কাছাকাছি রেল স্টেশন বলতে ১৮ কিমি দূরে হরিপাল বা ১৬ কিমি দূরে তারকেশ্বর। তাই সকালের তারকেশ্বর/ গোঘাট / হরিপাল লোকাল ধরে একঘন্টার মধ্যে  চলে আসুন হরিপাল স্টেশন।  সেখান থেকে ট্রেকার বা বাসে আধ ঘন্টায় চলে আসতে পারেন  এই মন্দিরে।

পৌরাণিক মতে সৃষ্টি ও ধ্বংসের প্রতীক মহাদেব। আর মহাদেব শিবের মন্দির ভারতবর্ষের বিভিন্ন জায়গায় থাকলেও , কলকাতার এক বিশেষ বৈশিষ্ট আছে। কলকাতার দক্ষিণে খিদিরপুর ভারতের পুরাতন নদী বন্দরগুলোর মধ্যে একটি। বহু প্রাচীন ইতিহাসের সাক্ষীও বহন করে চলেছে এই খিদিপুরই । আর সেই খিদিরপুর এর কালিবাগান এই আছে প্রাচীন দুটি শিব মন্দির। আর সেই মন্দিরের শিব লিঙ্গ ভারতবর্ষের উচ্চতম শিবলিঙ্গ , যা কিনা একটি মাত্র কষ্টি পাথরকে খোদাই করে তৈরী।

খিদিরপুর ট্রাম ডিপো এর কাছে অবস্থিত হবার জন্য হেস্টিংস বা খিদিরপুর থেকে কার্লমার্কস সরণি বা খিদিরপুর রোড ধরে চলে আসতে পারেন এখানে। সেখানে বাম হাতে দেখতে পাবেন নব নির্মিত তোরণ।

তোরণের মধ্যে দিয়ে ভূকৈলাস রোড ধরে এলে প্রথমে পর্বে নহবতখানা , আর তারপর পড়বে প্রায় ২৫০ বছরের পুরানো শিব মন্দির ও ভূকৈলাশ ঘোষাল রাজবাড়ী।

প্রায় ১০৮ বিঘা জমির ওপর অবস্থিত ছিল এই মন্দির ও রাজবাড়ী। রাজাবাহাদুর জয়নারায়ণ ঘোষাল ১৭৮১ খ্রিস্টাব্দে একটি পুকুর আর দুটি আটচালা ত্রিখিলানযুক্ত শিবমন্দিরের যথাক্রমে খননকার্য ও স্থাপনা করেন। এই পুকুরটির নাম রাখা হয় শিবগঙ্গা আর দুটি শিব মন্দিরের নাম রাখেন তার মাতা ও পিতার নামে, রক্তকমলেশ্বর ও কৃষ্ণচন্দ্রেশ্বর।

কৃষ্ণচন্দ্রেশ্বর মন্দিরের শিবলিঙ্গটি , রক্তকমলেশ্বর মন্দিরের থেকে বড়, এবং উচ্চতায় প্রায় ১৮ ফুট। দুই মন্দিরের মাঝে আছে মহাদেবের বাহন নন্দীর মূর্তি।

প্রায় কালের গর্ভে বিলীন হতে থাকা এই মন্দিরকে ২০১৩ সালে পুননির্মাণ করা হয়। তবে সেই পুরানো শিল্পকর্ম সেভাবে দেখা না গেলেও , রক্তকমলেশ্বর মন্দিরের ভিতরের দেয়ালের গায়ে পঙ্খের কাজ চোখে পরে। মন্দির সংস্কারের পর , শিবগঙ্গাকে ঘিরে ৬ টি ছোট মন্দিরেরও স্থাপনা করা হয়েছে।

এরপর রাজবাড়ীর মধ্যে প্রবেশ করলে বাম হাতে পড়বে ছাদবিহীন নাচঘর আর ডান হাতে শ্রী শ্রী পতিতপাবনী দূর্গা মন্দির। ১৭৮২ খ্রিস্টাব্দে জয়নারায়ণ ঘোষাল দিল্লির বাদশার কাছ থেকে রাজাবাহাদুর খেতাব পাবার পর রাজবাড়ীর কুলদেবীর প্রতিষ্টা করেন।

এই মন্দিরের গঠনশৈলী অনেকটা গ্রিক , মুসলিম ও হিন্দু স্থাপত্য রীতির মিশেলে তৈরী। এছাড়াও এখানে আরো ৪ টি মন্দির আছে , এমনকি ২ টি কামানও রাখা আছে।

মন্দিরের ভিতরের গাত্রে তামার ফলকে ইংরেজি ও পারসী ভাষায় জয়নারায়ণ ঘোষালের জীবনকাহিনী লেখা থাকলেও , তা এখন পড়ার অযোগ্য। তবে আরো একটি ফলকে বাংলায় বর্ণনা করা আছে।

শিবমন্দির প্রতিদিন সকাল ৭ টা থেকে দুপুর ১২ টা এবং ৩ টা থেকে রাত ৯ টা অব্দি খোলা থাকে। আর সন্ধে বেলা এলে পতিতপাবনী দূর্গা মন্দির এ আরতিও দেখতে পাবেন। তবে শিবের মন্দিরে পুজো দিতে হলে শিবরাত্রির দিনে আর শ্রাবন মাসের প্রতি সোমবারে দেয়া যাবে। এখানে শিবরাত্রি উপলক্ষে একমাস ব্যাপী মেলাও চলে।

"মা তুই এত উঁচু, তোকে মালা পড়াতে পারিনা" - লোকমুখে শোনা কথা । একটা সময় ছিল, যখন হাওড়া জেলার মাকড়দহের মাকড়চন্ডী মা অনেক লম্বা ছিল । সেই সময় যিনি মায়ের পূজা করতেন মা এর লম্বা মূর্তির জন্য মালা পড়াতে পারতেন না । তখন তিনি মাকে বলেন কথাটা । সেই কথা শুনে মা ক্রমশ মাটির মধ্যে প্রবেশ করতে শুরু করলে , সেই ব্রাম্ভন মাকে জড়িয়ে ধরেন , এবং মা কে পাতালে প্রবেশ করতে বাধা দেন । সেই কারণে বর্তমানে আমরা মা এর এই ছোট মূর্তি দেখতে পাই ।

দোল পরবর্তী সময়ে অনেক জায়গা  পঞ্চম দোল উৎসবে মেতে ওঠে। তার মধ্যে অন্যতম কিন্তু এই মাকড়দাহের পঞ্চম দোল। এই বছরেও শুরু হয়েছে এই উৎসব , তবে প্রতিবারের মতো সেই আড়ম্বর নেই এবারে। কিন্তু মন্দির প্রাঙ্গন সেজে উঠেছে আগের মতোই। তবে বাজি পোড়ানো , ভোগ খাওয়ানো বন্ধ আছে এবারে। 

মাকড়চন্ডী  মন্দির স্থাপনের পিছনে অনেক লোকমুখের কাহিনী আছে। মনে করা হয় কোনো এক সওদাগর এই মন্দির প্রতিষ্টা করেন। এই দেবীরও নামের উৎস নিয়ে মতানৈক্য আছে। কেউ বলেন মার্কন্ডেয় পুরাণের চণ্ডী থেকে এই মাকড়চণ্ডী নাম। আবার কারও মতে সরস্বতী নদীর তীরে অবস্থিত এই অঞ্চল প্রচুর মকর অর্থাৎ কুমীর ছিল। নদীপথে সওদাগররা মকরের উৎপাত থেকে বাঁচতে মকরচণ্ডীর পুজো প্রবর্তন করেন। যা পড়ে মাকড়চণ্ডী নাম দেয়।

মনে করা হয় আসল মন্দিরটি তৈরী করেন শ্রীমন্ত সওদাগর। সেই সময় সরস্বতী নদী পথে বাণিজ্যে যাবার পথে স্বপ্নাদেশ পান এই মন্দির নির্মাণের। তিনটি প্রস্তরখন্ড দেখে মনে করা হয় , ঐগুলো পুরানো মন্দিরের অংশবিশেষ। 

তবে বর্তমানের মূল মন্দিরের সঙ্গে নাটমন্দির, শিবমন্দির এবং মায়ের ঘাট নির্মাণ করান মাহিয়াড়ি মৌরির জমিদার রামকান্ত কুণ্ডুচৌধুরি। তিনি স্বপ্নাদেশ পেয়ে এই মন্দির নির্মাণ করেন ১৭৪৩ খ্রিস্টাব্দে। তবে এর পরেও ৪০ ফুট উঁচু মন্দিরটি সংস্কার করা হয়। 

একখণ্ড গোলাকার পাথরের খণ্ডকেই দেবীরূপে কল্পনা করা হয়। কার্তিক মাসে কালীপুজো হয় এই মন্দিরে। মাকড়চণ্ডী মূর্তিতেই কালীপুজোর সমস্ত নিয়ম কঠোরভাবে নিষ্ঠার সঙ্গে পালন করা হয়। মাঝরাতে পুজো, ভোগের ব্যবস্থা সবই থাকে। মন্দির সেজে ওঠে আলোকমালায়। বাজি পোড়ানোর আনন্দে মেতে ওঠেন স্থানীয়রা।

জানা যায়, 'এমনও একসময় ছিল, যে সময় পুজোর ঢাকের আওয়াজ যতদূর পর্যন্ত পৌঁছত ততদূর পর্যন্ত কোনও পুজো হত না। কিন্তু কালের স্রোতে সে নিয়ম বদলে যায়। তবে এখনও আশেপাশের যাঁরাই দুর্গা বা কালী পুজোর ব্যবস্থা করেন তাঁরা মন্দির থেকে অনুমতি নিয়ে যান।'

অবস্থান: মাকড়দহ, হাওড়া। হাওড়া থেকে বা কলকাতা থেকে ডোমজুড়গামী যেকোনো বাস এ আসা যায় এই মন্দিরে।

আমার মতো অনেকেই আছেন , যারা লক ডাউন পরবর্তী সময়ে পুরী গিয়েছিলেন কিন্তু জগন্নাথ দেব দর্শন করতে পারেননি। বা এখন ইচ্ছে থাকলেও যেতে পারছেন না।

তবে হতাশাগ্রস্ত না হোয়াই ভালো। কলকাতার বুকেও কিন্তু আছে পুরীর জগন্নাথ মন্দিরের আদলে তৈরী হওয়া একটি মন্দির। যা শ্রীক্ষেত্র বা জগন্নাথ ধাম হিসাবে পরিচিতি পেয়েছে।

জায়গাটি কোথায়?

কলকাতার দক্ষিণে খিদিরপুর-এ টিকিয়াপাড়া বলে জায়গায় অবস্থিত। খিদিরপুর ট্রাম ডিপো এর ঠিক উল্টো দিকের রাস্তা ধরে ৫ মিনিট হেটে গেলেই ডান হাতে পড়বে এই মন্দির।

শুরুর দিক

১৯৬৯ সালের ২৩ এ জানুয়ারী জগন্নাথ দেবের ছোট্ট একটি মন্দির প্রতিষ্টা হয় এখানে। তবে আজ যে সংস্করণ আমরা দেখতে পাই তার নির্মাণকার্য শেষ হয়ে নতুন বিগ্রহ প্রতিষ্টা হয়েছিল ২০০৩ সালে।

সিংহদ্বারের মধ্যে দিয়ে প্রবেশ করলে প্রথমে পড়বে অরুন স্তম্ভ , তারপর সিঁড়ি দিয়ে উঠে মূল মন্দির। গরুড় স্তম্ভ এবং তার উল্টো দিকে রত্নবেদী , সেখানে আছেন শ্রী জগন্নাথ দেব , শ্রী বলরাম ও দেবী সুভদ্রার মূর্তি।

বছরের বিভিন্ন সময়ে এখানে অনুষ্টানও হয়ে থাকে।

কখন আসবেন?

মন্দির প্রতিদিন সকাল ৬ টা থেকে দুপুর ১ টা , আর বিকাল ৪ টা থেকে রাট ৯ টা অব্দি খোলা থাকে।

প্রতিদিন সূর্যাস্তের সময় আরতিও হয়। সেই সময়ে এলে আরতিও দেখতে পাবেন।

আর ভোগ দেয়া হয় প্রতিদিন দুবার করে , দুপুর সাড়ে বারোটা আর রাত সাড়ে আটটা।

কাছে পিঠে ঘুরতে যাওয়ার ইচ্ছে বরাবরের। সেই ইচ্ছেয় ভর করে চলে এলাম কোন্নগরে , অবনীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের বাগান বাড়িতে। মনে হলো যেন কলকাতার বুকে ছোট্ট একটু শান্তিনিকেতন। আর পাশ দিয়ে বয়ে চলেছে গঙ্গা। সেখান থেকে দ্বাদশ শিব মন্দির।

কিভাবে আসবেন?

১) নিজের গাড়ি করে GT Road ধরে , গুগুল ম্যাপ এর লিংক: https://goo.gl/maps/HDBWrYYJ2vrqFszg8

বাগান বাড়ির পশে বাইক , সাইকেল রাখার ব্যাবস্তা আছে ১০ ও ৫ টাকার বিনিময়ে ।

২) বাসে বা ট্রেন এ নামুন বালি ঘাট স্টেশন। সেখান থেকে বালি খাল অটো স্ট্যান্ড। সেখান থেকে কোন্নগর বাটা এর অটো ধরে বা টোটো করে এই বাগান বাড়ি। অটো ভাড়া ১৫ টাকা , আর টোটো ভাড়া ২০ টাকা।

৩) ট্রেনে করে নামুন কোন্নগর স্টেশন , সেখান থেকে অটো বা টোটো করে বাগান বাড়ি।

৪) ট্রেনে করে সোদপুর। সেখান থেকে সোদপুর পানিহাটি লঞ্চ ঘাট। গঙ্গা পেরিয়ে কোন্নগর লঞ্চ ঘাট। তারপর পা এ হেটে বাগান বাড়ি।

আর কোথায় যেতে পারবেন ?

অবনীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের বাগান বাড়ি দেখে চলে আসুন , কোন্নগর দ্বাদশ শিব মন্দির , কোন্নগর রাজ্ রাজেস্বরী মন্দির , চরকতলা মোড়ে নেমে দেখে নিতে পারেন শ্রী অরবিন্দ ঘোষের বাড়ি।

আর গঙ্গার ওপর পারে সোদপুরে আছে শ্রী চৈতন্যদেব আর শ্রী রামকৃষ্ণ দেবের স্মৃতি বিজড়িত মহোৎসবতলা , আর ইস্কন মন্দির। এরপর টোটো ভাড়া (পড়বে ১০০ টাকা মতো ) করে চলে আসুন খড়দায় শ্যামসুন্দর মন্দির দেখতে , তবে এখানে ছবি তোলা নিষেধ।

কখন আসবেন?

বাগান বাড়ি তে প্রবেশ এর সময় সকাল ১০ টা থেকে বিকাল ৫ টা। তাই বছরের যেকোনো সময় এই সময়ে আস্তে পারেন। তবে বিশেষ দিনগুলোতে বন্ধ থাকে এই বাগান বাড়ি , তাই একটু খোঁজ নিয়ে আসাই ভালো। তবে গরম কালে গঙ্গার ধারে গাছের তলায় বসে গঙ্গার হওয়াতে দারুন অবশ্যই লাগবে।

কি করবেন এসে?

অবনীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের বাবা গুনেন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের সুন্দর সাজানো বাগান বাড়ি ঘুরে দেখবেন। অনেক গাছ আছে , রঙিন মাছের জলাশয় দেখবেন , গঙ্গার হাওয়া খাবেন। সেখান থেকে টোটো করে চলে আসুন দ্বাদশ শিবের মন্দির। বারোটি আটচালা মন্দির যার প্রবেশ দ্বার গঙ্গার দিকে। সেখানে বসার জায়গা আছে আর আছে একটি সুন্দর ঘাটও।

পাহাড় , নদী , জঙ্গল , ঝর্ণা , লেক , ড্যাম এই সব যদি একসঙ্গে দেখতে চান , আর যদি চান কলকাতার খুব কাছে , তাহলে আছে একটি মাত্র জায়গা , ঝাড়খণ্ডের পূর্ব সিংভূম জেলার ঘাটশিলা। ছোটনাগপুর মালভূমির অংশবিশেষ আর খনিজ সম্পদেও পরিপূর্ণ। উইকএন্ড এর ছুটিতে এমনকি ১ দিনের ট্রিপেও এই স্পট গুলোর কিছু ঘুরে আসতে পারেন।

**আমাদের প্ল্যান

গত ২৫ এ ডিসেম্বর ১১ জন বন্ধু মিলে ৩ দিনের জন্য ঘুরে এলাম ঘাটশিলা আর টাটানগর। ২৫ এ সকালের ট্রেনে ঘাটশিলা পৌছালাম , ৩ ঘন্টার যাত্রাপথ। আমাদের গাড়ি বুক ছিল , প্রথম দুদিন ঘাটশিলার বিভিন্ন স্পট ঘুরলাম আর তৃতীয় দিন সকালে ঘাটশিলা হোটেল থেকে চেকআউট করে টাটানগর ঘুরে , টাটানগর থেকে রাতের ট্রেনে বাড়ি ফিরলাম।

প্রথম দিন ঘুরলাম: ধারাগিরি ফলস , বুরুডি লেক বা ড্যাম , সুবর্ণরেখার সান সেট পয়েন্ট , চিত্রকূট টিলা (সঙ্গে সিদ্ধেশ্বর মন্দির) আর বিভূতি ভূষণ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এর বাড়ি গৌরী কুঞ্জ।

এছাড়াও এই রাস্তায় পড়বে ঘাটশিলা রাজবাড়ী (সান সেট পয়েন্ট এর কাছে) আর রামকৃষ্ণ মঠ , দেখে নিতে পারেন ।

মেন্ রোড থেকে ধারাগিরি যাবার রাস্তা লাল মাটির , শাল মহুয়ার জঙ্গল ও দেখতে পাবেন। রাস্তা সরু আর কিছুটা খারাপও। তাই অটোতে যেতে সময় লাগবে আর কষ্টও হবে। আর এই রাস্তায় প্রথমে পড়বে বুরুডি লেক আর তারপর ধারাগিরি।

দ্বিতীয় দিন ঘুরলাম: ফুলডুঙরি টিলা , হিন্দুস্তান কপার লিমিটেড এর গেট , স্বর্ণরেখা ভিউ পয়েন্ট , সিদ্ধেশ্বর পাহাড় (পাহাড়ের ওপর একটা মন্দির আছে) , রঙ্কিনী দেবীর মন্দির।

সময় থাকলে narwa ফরেস্ট , গালুডিহি ড্যাম ঘুরতে পারেন। আমরা পরের দিন গালুডিহি ড্যাম ঘুরে টাটানগর গেছি।

তৃতীয় দিন ঘুরলাম: গালুডিহি ড্যাম , আর টাটানগর এ ডিমনা লেক , চান্ডিল ড্যাম

সময় থাকলে জুবিলী পার্ক , দলমা বেস , জয়দা মন্দির , সাই বাবা মন্দির ঘুরতে পারেন।

**কিভাবে যাবেন?

হাওড়া থেকে ঘাটশিলার ট্রেন পেয়ে যাবেন , তবে সকালের ট্রেনে যাওয়া খুব সুবিধের। ৩ ঘন্টায় পৌঁছে , হোটেলে ফ্রেশ হয়ে বেরিয়ে পড়তে পারবেন।

যদি ঘাটশিলা শুধু ঘোরেন , গাড়ি বুক করতে পারেন বা স্টেশন এর বাইরে অটো আছে , বুক করুন। অটো এর রেট চার্টও দেয়া আছে।

যদি ঘাটশিলা থেকে টাটানগর আসতে চান , ট্রেনেও আসতে পারেন , এক ঘন্টা সময় লাগে। ফেরার দিন টাটানগর থেকে হাওড়া এর টিকিট কেটে রাখুন , অনেক ট্রেন আছে , তবে বিকালের টায় কাটা ভালো। সুতরাং ফেরার দিন সকালের ট্রেনে ঘাটশিলা থেকে টাটা আসুন বা আগের দিন রাতে আসতে পারেন , তবে তাতে আবার আপনাকে টাটা তে হোটেল বুক করতে হবে।

টাটানগর থেকে গাড়ি ভাড়া করে স্পট গুলো ঘুরে নিন।

**কোথায় থাকবেন?

আমরা ছিলাম হোটেল কৌশল্যা তে (ফুলডুঙরির সামনে)। সেটা হাই রোডের ওপর , আসে পাশে সেরকম কিছু নেই , তাই সাজেস্ট করবো না। আগে অন্য হোটেল বা গেস্ট হাউস দেখুন , যা পিক টাইম ছাড়া পাওয়া যায়। নয়তো কিছুদিন আগে থেকে বুক করে নিন।

**কোথায় খাবেন?

আমরা প্রথম দিন খেয়েছিলাম হোটেল রেইন বার্সে তে , দ্বিতীয় দিন হোটেল রঙ্কিনী তে (ফুলডুঙরির উল্টো দিকে)। আর তৃতীয় দিন টাটানগর যাবার দিন হাই রোডের ওপর পাঞ্জাবি ধাবায়। তবে দ্বিতীয় দিনের হোটেল টা ভালো ছিল।

**কখন যাবেন?

শীতকালের সূর্যের আলোতেও গরম লাগে , তাই বলবো শুধু শীতকালেই যান , ঘুরতে পারবেন।

সব স্পট ঘুরতে সময় লাগবে , তাই কিছু স্পট মিস ও হতে পারে। আর খরচ বেশি হবে না , তাই ছোট্ট ছুটিতে এই শীতকালেই ঘুরে আসতে পারেন ঘাটশিলা। আর যদি আমাদের এই ঘাটশিলা ভ্রমণ পর্ব দেখতে চান তাহলে আমাদের ইউটুবে এ দেখতে পারেন , লিংক দিলাম।

পেঁচা পুতুলের গ্রাম নতুনগ্রাম | Natungram - Wooden Doll Festival | Weekend Trip From Kolkata

গত ৯ ও ১০ জানুয়ারী পূর্ব বর্ধমানের নতুনগ্রাম এ হয়ে গেল পেঁচা পুতুলের মেলা (Wooden Doll Festival)। বাংলানাটক ডট কম এর সহযোগিতায় ষষ্ট বছরে পড়লো এই মেলা। পশ্চিমবঙ্গের MSME দপ্তর আর UNESCO এর সহযোগিতায় এই গ্রামকে রুরাল ক্র্যাফট হাব এর তখমাও দেয়া হয়েছে। আর ১৯৬৬ সালে সম্ভুনাথ ভাস্কর এর রাষ্ট্রপতি পুরস্কার এই গ্রামকে বিশ্বের সামনে তুলে ধরে। আমার ইউটুবে চ্যানেলের স্বার্থে মাঝে মাঝেই বেরিয়ে পরা, তার সৌজন্নেই ঘুরে ফেললাম এই গ্রাম।

কি করে আসবেন?

নিজের গাড়িতে আসা সবথেকে ভালো। প্রকৃতিকে অনুভব করতে করতে আসতে পারবেন। তবে এখানে দুটো নতুনগ্রাম আছে। তাই গুগল ম্যাপস এ যখন সার্চ করবেন "Wooden Doll Natungram " দিয়ে সার্চ করে তবেই আসবেন। আর যদি আসতে চান ট্রেন এ তাহলে হাওড়া কাটোয়া লোকাল এ নেমে পরুন অগ্রদ্বীপ স্টেশন এ , সেখান থেকে টোটো করে ১০ টাকা ভাড়া দিয়ে চলে আসুন।

কি করবেন এসে ?

এখানকার প্রধান আকর্ষণ পেঁচা। এখানে এসে কাঠের পুতুলের সাথে সাথে কিনে নিতে পারেন কাঠের চেয়ার , টুল , নাইট ল্যাম্প আর ও অনেক কিছু। আর শিল্পীদের সাথে কন্টাক্ট করে বাড়িতেও আনিয়ে নিতে পারেন এই সমস্ত সামগ্রী।

কখন আসবেন?

বছরের যেকোনো সময় আসতে পারেন। তবে জানুয়ারী মাসে এখানে ফেস্টিভ্যালের আয়োজন হয়। এমনকি ২০২১ এর ফেব্রুয়ারী মাসে আয়োজন হবে পেঁচা পুতুলের মেলা। তখন এসে ঘুরে যেতে পারেন। গ্রামটা খুব সুন্দর , এখন সর্ষে চাষের জন্য অপরূপা হয়ে উঠেছে। যদিও নতুন ধানের সবুজ মাঠ , বা পাকা ধানের সোনালী মাঠ দেখতে হলে আসতে হবে বছরের বিভিন্ন সময়ে।

গত ২৩ এ জানুয়ারি ২০২১ এর ছুটিটাকে কাজে লাগিয়ে ঘুরে এলাম ডায়মন্ড হারবার । আগের মত সেই ব্যাপার টা না থাকলেও, একদিনের ঘুরে আসার জন্য বেশ ভালো । আমরা কেল্লার মাঠ ঘুরে গিয়েছিলাম পুন্যলক্সমী তে স্ন্যাক্স খেতে |

হুগলি নদীর পূর্ব তীরে হওয়ার জন্য সূর্য একটু পশ্চিমে ঢলে পড়লে , তীরে দাঁড়িয়ে এক দারুন অভিজ্ঞতা অর্জন করা যায় । জলের উপর রুপোলি আয়না বিকেল হওয়ার সাথে সাথে সোনালী রূপ নেয় ।

ডায়মন্ড হারবার থেকে উত্তর পশ্চিমে গাদিয়ারার কাছে রূপনারায়ান মিশেছে হুগলির সাথে । এরপর নদী এত চওড়া হয়ে গেছে যে ওপারে কি আছে দেখাই যায় না।

কি দেখবেন আর কি করবেন?

আগে এখানে ৩ টি কেল্লা ছিল (যা চিংড়িখালী ফোর্ট নামে পরিচিত ছিল), কিন্তু সময়ের করাল গ্রাসে নদী গর্ভে বিলীন হয়ে গেছে । এখন শুধু ইটের টুকরো ছাড়া বাকি কিছু নেই । তবে এই মাঠ (যা কেল্লার মাঠনামে পরিচিত) এ এখন পিকনিক হয় । এছাড়াও আপনি আসতে পারেন নদীর ধারের হোটেল গুলোতে । সকাল থেকে সন্ধে সময় কাটাতে পারেন । আর নয়তো একরাত থাকতেও পারেন ।

কি ভাবে আসবেন?

শিয়ালদা থেকে ট্রেনে ১৫ টাকা ভাড়ায় নেমে পড়ুন ডায়মন্ড হারবার স্টেশন । সেখান থেকে টোটো করে কেল্লার মাঠ ।

নয়তো ধর্মতলা থেকে বাসেও আসতে পারেন ।

কখন আসবেন?

ভালো সময় শীতকাল । তবে বেশির ভাগ ফিস্ট করার জন্যই আসে এখানে ।

কোথায় থাকবেন বা খাবেন?

হোটেল সাগরিকা তো আছেই, তবে হোটেল পুন্যলক্ষী অসাধারণ । এই হোটেল টি নদীর তীর ঘেঁষে । তাই এখান থেকে সূর্যাস্ত অনবদ্য লাগবে । এমনকি রুম গুলো থেকেও সূর্যাস্ত দেখা যায় । আর হোটেলের খাবারের মান ভালো এবং দাম বেশিও নয় ।

কি ? সামনে ছুটি নেই ? বড়ো কোনো প্ল্যান নেই ? সময়ের অভাব ? একটু চাপের মধ্যেও আছেন ? বলছি , কলকাতার সব জায়গা ঘুরে ফেলেছেন ? নাঃ ????

চলুন তাহলে আজ আর ও একটি জায়গায় নিয়ে যাই , শ্রী স্বামীনারায়ণ মন্দির।

প্রায় ১০ বছর ধরে রাজস্থানের কারিগররা , রাজস্থান থেকে আনা পাথর দিয়ে তৈরী করেছে ১১ বিঘা জমির ওপর দারুন সুন্দর , শৈপ্লিক কাজে ভরা মন্দিরটি। যা জনসাধারণের জন্য খুলে দেয়া হয় ২০১৪ সালে।

মন্দিরের অবস্থান?

কলকাতা থেকে মাত্র ২০ কিমি দূরে দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগনার পৈলান এর ভাষা তে অবস্থিত এই মন্দির। ডায়মন্ড হারবার রোড এর ওপরে অবস্থিত এবং আমতলার কাছে।

মন্দির কখন খোলা থাকে?

প্রতিদিন সকাল ৮ টা থেকে ১১ টা , এবং বিকাল ৪ টা থেকে সন্ধে ৭ টা অব্দি খোলা থাকে।

কিভাবে আসবেন?

নিজের গাড়িতে আসতে পারেন , এখানে পার্কিং এর ব্যাবস্থা আছে। তবে পার্কিং ফিস দিতে হবে। এছাড়া আপনি বাসে করে আসতে পারেন। আমতলার কাছে হওয়ায় আমতলাগামী যেকোনো বাসে নেমে পড়তে পারেন মন্দিরের সামনে।

কি করবেন?

মন্দিরে কোনো প্রবেশ মূল্য নেই। আপনি মন্দির ঘুরে দেখুন , দ্বিতল মন্দিরের ওপর তলায় এবং নিচের তলায় বিগ্রহ আছে। আর মন্দিরের কাজ দেখে আপনি মুগ্ধ হয়ে যাবেন। এতো বৃস্তিত এলাকায় প্রাকৃতিক এবং শৈল্পিক কাজকর্ম দারুন উপভোগ করবেন। তবে মন্দিরের মধ্যে ফটো তোলা নিষেধ। এখানে একটা রেস্টুরেন্ট আছে , নিরামিষ খাবার স্বল্প মূল্যে পেয়ে যাবেন। এমনকি মন্দিরের করিডোর এও বসে দারুন সময় কাটাতে পারবেন।

যদি আপনি চান , তাহলে ডায়মন্ড হারবার বা রায়চক ঘুরেও আসতে পারেন এই মন্দির দর্শন করতে।

Pakuria Salasar Dham: Lord Hanuman Temple

The place with religious importance for the devotees of Hanuman and a perfect weekend getaway in Kolkata is this temple “Pakuria Salasar Dham”.

The symbolism and the structure of this temple are very traditional. When you walk inside the temple a chanting of Hanuman Chalisa, a sacred utterance, a numinous sound will take you to another heavenly place.

Yesterday on 4^th August 2019, we decided to go somewhere else to recreate our mind after a long hectic weekday. We decided to go to that temple which was newly founded. Though it was the first time for us to visit Pakuria Salasar Dham, we google out the history of this temple. But accidentally found nothing.

That temple is nearer to us and took 15 minutes to reach there.

It is in Pakuria, just after the Pakuria flyover and just a kilometer from Salap Highroad. Another side of the road there is a reliance market.

History of Salasar Balaji

I am not aware of the history of this holy place (Pakuria Salasar Dham), but it is inspired by the actual temple situated in Salasar. Salasar Balaji or Salasar Dham in India is a place of religious importance for the devotees of Hanuman. It is located in the town of Salasar, on National Highway 65 near Sujangarh in Churu district, Rajasthan.

The myth is a jat farmer of Asota village was plowing his field and that very moment a stony thing was resonating sound after the plow was hit. He dug up and found an idol covered with sand. Her wife came there with his lunch and she cleaned the idol With her saree. It was the idol of Lord Hanuman. That night the Thakur of Asota had a dream, where Lord Balaji directed him to send the idol to Salasar in the Churu district. That night another devotee of Balaji appeared in Mohandas Maharaj’s dream. The idol was sent to Salasar and the place is presently known as Salasar Dham. The temple was constructed in 1754 AD.

Now come to this place, Pakuria Salasar Dham; the principal deity of this temple is Hanuman who receives veneration along with other deities like Lord Ram, Laxman, Sita, Radha, Krishna, Lord Ganesha. Of the idols of Hanuman found in Hindustan, that at Salasar Balaji is unique because it has a round face with a mustache and beard.

Of many rituals and traditions performed at the temple, the most widely followed is the tying of coconuts with moli (sacred red threads) in the temple premises by a large number of devotees. It is widely believed that such practice helps them to fulfill their wishes if done with sincere faith.

Daily worshipping to Hanumanji with proper offering and chanting of Hanuman Chalisa is also a best part of this temple.

There is a chula outside the temple, which is still burning from the day of the inauguration in the year 2018.

Another temple just below the main temple is Bal Hanuman temple. It is also worshipped daily.

How to reach Pakuria Salasar Dham

From Kolkata take the route for Santragachi and then heading towards Salap. You can reach there within 40 minutes. You can take a bus from Bali halt - Salap buses or Kolkata – Salap buses to reach this place.

When to visit

There is no best time to visit Lord Hanuman. But if you go there in the evening then the lighting of this place will feel you good.

If you enjoy your evening or go somewhere else after a hectic weekday then the place is perfect.

An unknown village adorns with the beauty of nature and evergreen meadows came to live on 18^th February 1836 when Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa Deva was born under a husking pedal.

Kamarpukur is situated in Arambag subdivision of Hoogly district in the state West Bengal of India. The ancient prosperity and peace are still present in this place. The vast sea of green with multiple numbers of ponds, tanks, old buildings are bearing the glory of Kamarpukur.

Agriculture, cottage industries are the main source of income. Sweets like Jilipi, Sada Bonde, Nabat or rock candy are famous here.

10 Top Spots to Visit in Kamarpukur

1. The Living Room of Ramakrishna Deva: Once you entered the premises the serene atmosphere will blow your mind. Ramakrishna deva used to stay in the south-facing room at the western side of the premises. After the last rites of Ramakrishna Deva, our Holy Mother Sarada Ma used to live here despite dire financial condition and other difficulties.

2. The Mango Tree: Entering through the entrance and left behind the long concrete passage a big mango tree will come to our vision. This is the tree which was planted by Sri Ramakrishna Deva. It is still worshipped by giving offerings. You can take blessings here.

3. The Parlour: There is a private room (a hut made by mud & straws) used as a meeting room by Ramakrishna Deva to instruct his disciples.

4. Gadadhar’s Birth Place: A husking machine, a fireplace, and a lamp are engraved here. It is the place where Gadadhar was born under the manual husking machine and was slipped into the oven which was used for boiling the paddy. In the year 1951, the marble image of Ramakrishna Deva was installed here for worshipping. The tranquillity of this place is well maintained, and a long prayer hall in front of Ramakrishna Deva’s replica takes his devotees a level of spirituality.

Useful Tips: Visting hours in the temple is 04:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. IST and 04:00 p.m. to 09:00 p.m. IST in the month of April to September. For the month of October to March it is 04:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. IST and 03:30 p.m. to 08:30 p.m. IST. A kitchen cum dining hall facilitates feeding about 500 people at a time.

5. Yogi’s Shiva Temple: It is inside the premises and just in front of the mango tree. We can hear ever speaking stories regarding this temple, where Gadadhar’s mother felt a light came from lord shiva which entered in her body and she had conceived.

6. Haldar Pukur: The vast tank at the northern side of Yogi’s Shiva temple is known as Haldar Pukur. Gadadhar swam here with his friends in his early life.

7. Sitanath Pyne's house: We came out of the temple and started walking through the shadows of coconut trees, palm trees, banyan trees. Two storied mud house is another attraction of this area. We finally reached Pyne’s house. This house is under the blessings of greenery. A shiva temple is just inside this very house.

8. The Primary School of Lahas: after walking a few more distance an open school (Pathsala) was visible. It is actually a spacious natmandir of Durga Temple of Laha’s. Gadadhar joined here at the age of five, but later he showed less interest in studies and developed the tendency to get merged in ecstatic moods at the sight of beautiful scenery or at the contemplation of particular deities.

9. Bishnu Mandir of Lahas: Just behind the Durga Mandir and very far from the chaotic environment a very old Bishu Mandir is situated. Don’t miss this place if you come in Kamarpukur any time in the near future.

10. Gopeswar Shiva Mandir: Another shiva temple can be reached by walking for a minute. At the time of ecstasy of Ramakrishna Deva, his mother used to come here for praying. Besides this temple, we can see a holy pond named Kamar Pukur.

Useful tips: All these places are entry free. You can visit Kamarpukur along with Joyrambati (Only 5 kilometers from Kamarpukur) and Bonolota resort on a day trip.

How to Get in Kamarpukur

Kamarpukur, the birthplace of Sri Ramakrishna Deva can be reached easily by road. Kolkata International Airport is 110 kilometers from Kamarpukur. You can reach Kamarpukur from Howrah railway station also by train. The nearest railway station is Tarakeswar which is 45 kilometers from Kamarpukur.

But the best way to visit Kamarpukur is by bus. Frequent bus service is available which connect Kamarpukur and Joyrambati to Kolkata. You can take CSTC buses from Esplanade Bus Terminus (Sahid Minar) at Kolkata. These tourist buses start in the morning and are available in every one and a half hour. Or, you can reach the Arambag bus stand and from there you can take another bus for Kamarpukur.

Best Time to Visit Kamarpukur

It is very hot in the season of summer, I will suggest you go there during winter. But many occasions are held here at various time. It's up to you when you want to go. You will enjoy the 3-4 hours driving from Kolkata, especially during the winter due to its lush green views of paddy fields and sightseeing.

The fertile land of all kind of vegetation in this region due to the free flow of Amodar. Joyrambati is 27 miles from Bishnupur and 12 miles from Arambag, is the birthplace of holy mother Sri Sri Ma Sarada Devi.

Major Attraction in Joyrambati

Sri Sri Ma Sarada Devi worshipped as the holy mother is the spiritual concert of Sri Ramakrishna. The peace and prosperity of Joyrambati will take you to another spiritual world.

1. Sri Sri Matri Mandir

The beautiful temple of Ma Sarada was built at the same place where she was born 22nd December 1853. It was her father's house and she married with Sri Ramakrishna in this very house. Ma Sarada lived there with her parents until the age of nine.
19th April 1923 on the day of Akshaya Tritiya this temple was dedicated to holy mother. A spacious prayer hall with a statue of the holy mother is there. Holy mother is worshipped daily with proper offerings.

You can take a look of Old House and New House, which is inside the premises.

2. Punya Pukur

This is a big water tank in front of the holy temple inside this boundary. It was used by Ma Sarada Devi.

3. Mayer Dighi

“Mayer Dighi” is a big lake beside the Joyrambati bus-stand where holy mother in her childhood days used to cut grass from neck-deep water to feed the cows. We can take a holy dip into this Dighi and get refreshed.

4. Nara Narayan Temple

There is another temple called “Nara Narayan Temple” within 1 kilometer of Sri Sri Matri Mandir, where a child below 5 years of age is worshiped as “God Narayan” daily at 10 am. There is a myth behind this, a group of people believes that one-day Swami Vivekananda will return in this holy land, and the child who is worshipped will turn into stone.

What to do in Joyrambati?

Joyrambati is the perfect place for pilgrims. The peace and prosperity of this place will take you to another spiritual world. The things you will love to do

1. Meditation

The serenity of the Sri Sri Matri Mandir will take to the spiritual world. You can meditate for hours in the prayer hall.

2. Prasad

Anyone can eat "Mayer Bhog" here by paying. Timing is from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

3. Local Buying

There is a bookstall inside Sri Sri Matri Mandir. You can purchase story books related to Thakur Ramkrishna, Sarada Ma, Swamiji or other spiritual books. There are few curio shops outside the temple, where you can found local items made by the people of Joyrambati.

When to Visit in Joyrambati?

I have visited there at various time, but every time I visited there was memorable to me. If you ask me, then I can say, there is no specific time to visit Matri Mandir. But there are various activities performed at different times.

There are various timings for opening the Garva Dawar, I went there at 11.30 a.m. and Matri mandir door was opened only for 5 minutes.

How to reach in Joyrambati?

1. By road

It is near about 100 kilometers from Howrah railway station or Esplanade via Tarakehswar or Dankuni.

Or you can come by bus. AC bus services are available from Belur Math, Howrah. Otherwise various private and government bus running in these routes.

2. By Train

Goghat is the nearest local railway station. You have to take the train from Howrah to reach Goghat or Arambagh; from there 13-kilometers car drive will take you, Sri Sri, Matri Mandir.

Food and Staying near Matri Mandir

There are many hotels available near Sri Sri Matri Mandir at Joyrambati. But book early at the time of major days, otherwise, you can not book a hotel.
Many restaurants are also available here. The famous thing is "Sada Bonde", you must try this one if you visited this place.

Although Joyrambati is one day tour, and I went there to visit three places (Kamarpukur, Joyrambati and Bonolota Resort in Joypur Jungle) and came back on this very day. But if you want to enjoy the beauty, serenity, peacefulness and want to take a break from urban life then it is the perfect holiday destination for you.

We reached the hotel at 11 am. After completing all the formalities we acquired the bed. It was a dormitory and 8 people can stay comfortably. We plugged our phone on charge. After refreshing we waited for lunch. At 1:30 pm they called us for lunch. But you have to order the lunch after reaching there. Hot and smoky food reduced our hunger. At that time rain started, so we thought to take a nap and after that, we will out for the journey. But when we woke up, it was already 4 pm, and then we started our journey.

I will not make you bore, so I’m thinking to give only details about the places you can find in Purulia (Ajodhya Circuit only)

PPSP Upper Dam:

It is only 6 km from hotel Niharika. When we reached there, we were mesmerized. Barrage is there and it holds the water. And another side of the barrage is covered with dense forest. The rain was about to start. We were noticing a wave of rain was coming. It takes 2-3 mins and we started running and take a shelter in the check post.

The technology came from Japan and it is one of the instant electricity generating units in West Bengal. Two dams are there, Upper and Lower Dam. Upper dam is stretched nearly 9.5 km²area and likely the Lower Dam. When power requires, water flows from upper dam to lower and turbine rotates to generate electricity. Then water is pumped up from Lower Dam to Upper dam for further electricity generation.

Marble Rocks:

It is also known as Durga Bera; located in Ranga village and nearly 7km from hotel Niharika. It is a man made water body. The hard igneous rocks were extracted at the time of dam construction.

The beauty of this place will hold you from leaving the place. The water turns blue and looks fresh and transparent. When you shout loud, the surrounding hills will return your words; echoing your words.

Bamni Falls:

If someone wants to take the feel of adventure, then it is the best place. 7km from Niharika and from there a short trekking distance takes you to the falls location. Green bushes and large rocks stay in one place. Serenity amidst the place and the purity of nature and the spell of rain like droplets and the sound of flowing water from waterfalls will astonish you.

Murguma Dam:

It is 19km from hotel Niharika. One can take the view of nature.

Other nearby spots you can visit i.e. Pakhi Hills, Yogini Caves, Chandni Hills, Sunrise Point, Mayur Hills, Charida Village, Ghageshwari Falls, Khairabera Dam.

Geography: Ajodhya hills located in Purulia district, West Bengal, India. It is extended part of Eastern Ghat range and part of Dalma hills. The highest peak is Gorgaburu.

Culture: Charida village is famous for making the mask. And it is the main cultural center for Chau dance. It is one type of martial dance where men wear those masks. Hunting festival also celebrates during the full moon day in Baisakh every year. You can also enjoy famous Santali Dance.

After handing over the booking paper to us, he told that there are two routes to go Hill Top. But he suggested going via Sirkabad.

The trip might be unfinished without seeing the small stream or green valley from the road.

But we choose the best time to go. It was monsoon and there was raining. You may miss many things if you do not wish to in the rainy season.

Sirkabad is smallest route compare to go via Baghmundi. The road is so steep. But if you want an unforgettable travel experience then it will not disappoint you.

There was no road in-front of us. We slowed down and discover the route which was covered by an inclined rock face. The valley seen from the Highland was picturesque.

Don’t press break when you are riding on gradient

This was the first lesson we learned before entering Ajodhya. One of our fellow bikers stopped in the middle of the steep road, he lost his balance immediately and fell from his two-wheeler. Thank god, nothing had happened to him.

They will block your road

When we were driving, the other pilgrim-ers stopped us. They were many in numbers. But they were not human, check out my video to see who they were!!!!

It will force you to stop

There are full of opportunity when you are driving. It will stop you in every 5 minutes interval to take some portraits.

10:30 am, 16.07.2017, Ajodhya Hills

It was minimum 45 minutes; we were not able to see any houses. But at last, we saw some huts. Walls of these huts were faded red which made these houses unique. It was an indication that we were nearer to our final destination.

But I was shocked for a moment; how they live their life. Nothing is there, nothing. It is far behind from our city life.

Keeping those things in mind which made my breath heavy; at-last we reached our hotel.

We hired two dormitories. We checked in. We freshened up. Took our meal and took some rest. Then again we started our exploration.

How to reach: From Howrah to Purulia so many trains are available e.g. Rupasibangla Exp, Lalmati Exp, Hwh Ckp Exp. It will be better to hire a privet car to reach Ajodhya. Explore the rest of the day (Upper Dam, Marble rocks) and stay at the hotel at night. Then next day you can go Bamni Falls, Mayur Pahar, Chandni Pahar, Yogini caves, Lower Dam, Pakhi Pahar, Charida village.

Where to stay: It will be better to stay at Hill Top. There is only one Govt guest house (Niharika). But you have to book earlier. Otherwise, some small cottages are there, nearer to govt guest house.

Where to eat: For that you need to depend upon the guest house. You cannot find any star hotels there. You can eat Desi Murgi, mutton. You can pay your hotel owner to cook.

The vast grassland on our right and the sun kisses the peak the laterite road ends its journey at the base of the hills; you cannot close your eyes without seeing. It just made us hypnotized.

Change of plan

I was excited for the day. It was my first ever “ride to travel” by two wheelers. I prepared for the day for long and premortem all the possible routes for our journey. The shortest possible route was via Arambag. But the reluctance to follow the road by fellow riders gave another option. We chose the way via Durgapur. But when we chose the new route it added 50 more kilometers in our dashboard dials.

Unknown 13

The mobile screen was just lightening up, it was around 23:30, and dada told me to come out. I rode on my dada’s Royal Enfield Electra 350’s back seat. He pressed start switch, and she (Electra) started roaring. I waved my mom and Electra started her journey.

We were headed towards Salap Bus Stand from Domjur. Sitting behind was giving me full freedom to exploring and video-graphing. We halted at Salap for others. Within minutes they reached and we started again. 9 pairs of wheels, 13 others and we two were formed a group. They were unknown to me but know to my dada. Talking to people is not a problem, but its hold back to behave friendly. But it was the journey to make new friends, creating a new circle and ranging over an unknown area.

Night queen

July the month of Monsoon and the starry sky! We could not imagine. It added an extra feather in our journey. When we accelerated into the pitch dark then there was only one who followed us; The Moon. It enlightens the area where artificial lights could not reach.

It was around 1 am, we parked our mech. horse beside the road to refresh ourselves. Just 5 minutes; we started again and followed the road NH19, where it would take us. Again an hour long driving and reached Burdwan. I thought that the shop Adi Langcha Bhaban might be a patent one. Whatever it is, whenever it is, we all stop here. We took “too early” breakfast, jokes apart; took some snacks and boosted us to drive again.

It was not a race, so we followed each other, and maintain 60-70 kmph velocity. It was the night when all went for sleep except us, who were headed towards Purulia. The buttery roads and 3 lanes each for up and down moving cars made us Lewis Hamilton.

It is difficult at night to extend your eyes’ optical zoom; it seems like a black layer of non-existed particles all around us. Still, I was able to see some trees beside our road. Sometimes roads were lighted up by the roadside lamp post, sometimes a spark of lights came from roadside Dhaba, and sometimes lights came out from all the small holes of factory buildings.

When nights turn to dawn

We crossed several roads, many flyovers, bridges, leaving behind Panagarh Army Base and reached Durgapur. I covered myself with helmet, full sleeves; only my hand was uncovered. Suddenly I felt a cold water droplet on my palm. Oh! It started. But we did not stop for covering us with rain protector. We drove and it vanishes on the way.

From NH19 we took the road towards Durgapur Barrage. But we stopped to see what our maps showed us. At that time we took a break, getting down from Electra and started exercising to sooth my back.

I was not too brave that I would say “I will drive”. So, again I rode on the back. We crossed the Barrage. After covered some of the distance we saw the road divides the thick forest. Somewhere it was written that “Elephant Corridor”. But we didn’t face anyone.

We were heading towards Bankura. We saw red horizon at the East. It was 4:30 am. It was very fast, like a time machine; it took only 15 minutes to convert the dark sky to blue lighted sky.

Sun appeared for the first time in our journey; now we could see far and far away. It was too green. Actually, we live our life in brick and mortars, so when we saw these it took us to another destination.

The road is so clean and so smooth but only a few vehicles drove like lazy fashion. At that time rain came again, but this time it was showering. We put our rain coats and at-last reached to Purulia Town. We called the person from whom we had taken our documents for the hotel room. He had booked the dormitory in Niharika Ayodhya Hill Top on behalf of us.

We were the lone riders. We were thinking that where were all the motorable vehicles? Communicative roads were there but the lack of transport systems holds back the wishes of many travelers to come to Purulia. But no roads can compete with the road towards Purulia.

We entered the region, exactly Plateau Region. We saw the Highland, we saw Sal, Teak on our side. Rain stopped and the sprinkling rain made the green more greenery and Red laterite more reddish. We accelerated our flying car. Oh! How beautiful it could be; no one will understand this without taking a look at it. Ayodhya is in front of us and it freezes our vision there.

We were driving and we were getting closer of Ayodhya. At last, we reached there, from where hill road started which would take us on Hill Top.

When we stopped in Burdwan, uncle gave me a t-shirt. I saw that everyone wearing the same t-shirt except me, Aunty and Paromita. It was ok for others two, but I was eager to get that one. At last, I got it and I wore it right that time. It was a great feeling. Thanks to Man Machine.

Excitement! Excitement! & Excitement!

The countdown has started. We are about to leave. I’m in college now, but my whole concentration is on my journey towards Purulia.

Bikers

Total 8 nos of two wheelers are heading to Purulia. We are 16 in nos. I can hear the sound of Royal Enfield Classic 350. After dinner, we will start our journey.

Follow the Google map.

But we will stay at Banalata Resort at night because we have to wait for the charming red sky at dawn. Then only we can throttle it, accelerate it to reach there. We can hear the sound waves coming from striking of tennis ball size stones. Purulia is calling us.

Want To See

Pakhi Hills, Ayodhya Hills, Upper Dam, Lower Dam, Bamni falls- that much places I know, which we want to cover.

We will stay at Hotel Niharika. It is very cheap. Actually, we want to explore the place; we don’t want to stay at the hotel.

Threat We May Face

Ugh! It is July and it is showering heavily. Parents are worried but not us. Night ride plus highway hiking; we have to be very much cautious. And Bamni at that time may behave like Niagara. We have to maintain the safe distance.

Eravikulam National Park, Munnar, Kerala

It is one of the most beautiful places I’d visited. The valley is fully covered with Sholas and mountain trees. Rolling Highland along with picturesque tea garden and the typical rock formation and the eco-system make the place for photographers.

I was there only for few hours, but it couldn’t stop me from taking pictures.

Anamudi- Himalaya of Southern India

When pages from geography book come in front you, someone may be overwhelmed. Same has happened with me. After reaching the end of this park we saw a rock, shaped like an elephant head. Sign board mention this “Anamudi”, the highest peak of the Western Ghats in South India.

The elevation is nearly 2695 meters and the peak is so steep, that no one can climb. Anamudi Peak serves as the crown for the reserve area being accomplished with variant flora and fauna. The cliffs on all the side isolated this area and create a table like land.

Atukkad Waterfalls

It is nearly 2km from there. But you can take a scenic look at the park also.

Tea Estate

The scenic beauty of this valley deepens by the tea gardens.

In higher altitude main core forest area owned by the forest department. We were not allowed to go inside, but trucks were entering there. Elephants are there in the deep forest, the core portion, where tourist are not allowed.

History: Rajamalai was the haunting place for British. And it was owned by Rajamalai and Eravikulam during the British era. Later the area was declared as a sanctuary with an objective of protecting the indigenous population of Nilgiri Tahr (most endangered mountain goat) when founded in the year 1975 and was then upgraded as the national park in 1978.

Eating there: A permanent fast food center is there. We took coffee and ice cream after returning back from the park.
There is a permanent artifact stall for selling various types of memorabilia.

Eravikulam National Park, Munnar, Kerala

Walking through the inclined road where the valley is riches with rolling grassland, we found what we were looking for; a Nilgiri Tahr which is basically a mountain goat found only in Southern India.

At first, let me tell you about Eravikulam. It is a national park also known as Rajamalai, surrounded with flora and amid high rolling grassland called sholas.

97 km² national parks are the part of Western Ghats (mainly known as Kannan Devan Hills) in Idduki district of Kerala in India.

Rushes to go

It was already 10 am when we reached Munnar. After some refreshment, we started our journey by Mahindra Thar. To avoid the heavy rush I’d pre-booked our entry ticket for the national park. So, I felt little relaxed at that time.

It was about 13 km from our hotel Hollyhock and after reaching there, the driver dropped us near a well-maintained area running by park authority. Rushes of people were too much at that time. There are two parts, ticket counter & checking in. First one, where you have to buy a ticket (if you are not able to book e-ticket) and the latter one is for checking in or bus riding station. I’ll suggest you buy a ticket online to avoid rushes.

Took A Ride

We had a digital camera with us. The spot has picturesque locations, rolling highland and hill plateau along with sholas and mountain forest. So, there were no chances to leave the camera. There was no another option, better than buy a ticket for the camera to carry along with me.

Private vehicles are allowed until the base of the hills and from there Forest Department vehicles will take you to the main park.

The bus came at the checking point and we jumped into the bus to acquire a window seat, otherwise, I would miss the beauties of nature. Small buses dropped us near the park gate, from there we walked to see the rocky landscape and explore the habitats.

The 20 minutes bus journey was a perfect blending of thrill and enjoyment. Vertical sloping with 180-degree turning made my mouth waterless. But at the same time, green rocky plateau caught my eye. The cliff on one side and slope on another made the path for the buses to go. I was adjusting my focus on the houses far below from the higher altitude.

Welcome To The Park

After getting down from the bus, we saw the board where a gist was given about the park. We entered the park, the weather was cool and it was a sunny day; a perfect day for us. We walked for few minutes in those inclined terrains and I found a perfect place for the picture. The background was awesome.

After some glimpse of nature, we started walking again. We all know that Kerala is a state where we can find all types of medicinal and vegetation plants. On the way, we found Kattupera, a shrub, mainly a flowering plant. And after that, someone was waiting for us. Firstly I found that it was a goat. Then I confirmed it was the animal for which the sanctuary is.

Nilgiri Tahr is the state animal of Tamil Nadu and only found in this area. It is an endangered mountain goat of South India.

We found another 2 or 3; they are the vegetarian and very peaceful animal. But no one is allowed to touch these mammals.

The park was very clean and litter free zone. Actually, if you see, you will not find any dirty area in Kerala and if you see you will find green and green, fresh leaves without any dust.

Worth To Going There

The bus ride and a small trek are good for the nature lover and photographers. The beauty of the place was enriched when we saw the Anamudi- Himalaya of Southern India and Waterfalls and Museum. Nature walk and captivating beautiful landscape implanted a long memory in my heart.

Back To Hollyhock

After exploring the place and long waiting time on the queue for returning bus, gave me some time for candid. On my next section, I will give you more details about the place.

The bus reached the pickup location and dropped us on Rajamalai. From there we had taken our private car and went to Tea Factory and from there returned to the hotel.

How To Reach: Munnar is not directly connected by train. You have to reach Ernakulam by any means. By train, you need to go Ernakulam, and from Ernakulam Bus Stand KSRTC Bus service is available for Munnar. Bus stand is nearer to the junction. Ernakulam to Munnar distance is 121 km and you will enjoy the ride by seeing the natural beauties, green terrain, hills etc. From Munnar you have to book a cab to reach Eravikulam or auto is also available there from the Munnar market. The fare is depending upon bargaining, though they take fair price.

Hotel To Stay: If you can make time, then you can stay in Ernakulam for a day or two. So many budget hotels are there. I will give you full details about expenses on my upcoming post. And staying in Munnar depends upon your choice. If you want to stay in any hillside hotel then you can also find budgeted rooms. But the 24x7 car is needed. Or you can stay in hotels near the market.

Where To Eat: You can eat outside, plenty of restaurants are there. Or, you can pay on your hotel to eat, if restaurants are available in these hotels. In the park premises, so many food stalls are there and the price is fair enough to eat.

Park Ticket: You can buy a ticket from ERAVIKULAM NATIONAL PARK ONLINE RESERVATION site. Entry fees have increased to Rs. 190. You can also buy a ticket for your camera.

Best Time To Visit: Need to avoid monsoon, because Kerala is famous for heavy rainfall. It will be best if you go there in between Sept to Feb. Weather will be cool for exploring.

Riding Above The Clouds: Top Station | Munnar, Kerala | Know Your Planet | Travel

Top Station, Munnar, Kerala

We finally walk through the cloud, resting on the heart of the hill. We felt drops of water on our naked hand. Excitement reached the top station.

A thick visible condensed water vapor at top of the hills and especially when you are in far south of Indian state Kerala, where the temperature reaches 35^o C; then feelings will change for sure.

I had visited with my parents and reaching there was a wonderful experience.

There was a time when I Gathered information from various sources and came to know about this place.

Riding with Thar

The weather was plenty, the air was cool and the day was sunny, then the choice for taking a Mahindra Thar was explicitly good. We had taken a ride from our hotel room, Holly Hock.

We crossed the Pothamedu view point, Munnar Headworks Dam. Went through the Munnar market we reached on the Munnar-Top Station Highway. Left behind Photo Point location we reached Mattupetty Dam. Took some brake there and taken the view of beautification by Gods own creation.

Being seated beside our driver I had taken a glimpse of natural beauty. Gone through the road by left behind the flowing river we reached Echo point. Hilly road, sharp bending, and trees beside the road made our journey unforgettable.

Sloppy hill and its abstract formation and manmade tea plant made the area indescribable. We made our heart strong by seeing 100 meters slopes beside our road to Top Station. Below there, we managed to see some people some huts.

God’s own country

I saw it, sitting in front of Thar I saw the white cloud touches the hill. Floating cloud made the barrier to our eyes to look beyond that. He drove the slowly to reach the ultimate point.

I jumped down from the jeep which we had owned for the day and took a leap beside the road to enter the tea garden. We ran through the cloud and felt drops of water on our face, on our hand. Rocky terrain and green tea plants made a one-way road for us. We explore the place.

Accommodation

If you wish then you can stay in Fernweh Hills, The Regency Casetta or in Amazonia Echo Resort. But staying there is very costly. But if you take my suggestion then come back to the Munnar marketplace area, where you will find plenty to hotel rooms in budget price.

Eating There

You may not get what you want. It is the top of the hill and you cannot expect everything there. And it is also costly. But after reaching there we found a handful of small shops.

Other Activities

Just going there is no meaning except you stay in a tent, trekking through the rocky hill and reaching to the point where you can actually see what it is. With the low-lying clouds gently skimming the surface of the hills, the exquisite beauty of this place is enhanced with each and every step you take up to the highest point. Indulge in nature walks in this captivatingly beautiful landscape, and you will certainly find yourself filled with a new zeal for life.

It is an area which gives expansive views and proper place for the photographer to take a candid picture with a perfect background like Western Ghat hills.

Going with young ages will be beneficial, otherwise, you cannot trek.

For You

Location: It is around 32km from Munnar and located in Kannan Devan Hills. It is the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu and it also part of Theni district which is the part of TN. The highest point is 1700m from the ground. You can enjoy the panoramic view of Western Ghat hills.

Reaching there: From Chennai Central, you will go CMBT bus stand and from there you will take the bus for Ernakulam (earlier booking from TNSTC site). Or you can take the train from Chennai Central to reach Ernakulam. From there you can travel via KSRTC bus to reach Munnar. From Munnar, you can travel via private car.

Important: It is also the natural habitat of the rare Nilakurinji plants (strobilanthus). Nilakurinji plants, which bloom only once in twelve years, envelope the hillsides of Top Station in bright blue. The next bloom of Nilakurinji plants is supposed to take place in the year of 2018.

It is open all day, no entry fees.

It is better not to visit in monsoon. Oct to Mar is the best time to visit this place.

I can remember the day when we finally went to the place which we had planned for last few weeks. It was on 17th Sept 2015 and there was Viswakarma Puja and I travelled with my 3 of colleagues to our final destination.

About Tada

At a distance of 29 km from Tada, 45 km from Srikalahasti, 85 km from Tirupati, 92 km from Chennai, 130 km from Nellore and 156 km from Chittoor, Tada falls or Ubbalamdugu Falls is in Varadaiah Palem Mandal of Chittoor district in India. It is situated on the border of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

The falls are located in a dense forest called Siddulaiah Kona. The falls are located within the Kambakam hills and are a popular destination for trekking, climbing and picnicking. The terrain that surrounds the falls includes rocky hill formations and lush forests interspersed with a number of streams.

Planning

I'd completed my B.Tech. in 2013, and I joined in a Pune based company. Within a few years time, I had visited few cities, and Chennai was one of them. I lived in SPKoil, near Chengalpattu and I visited too many places from there. I will share my other trips in my upcoming posts.

We were 4, who had planned the trip. Rupesh who was my senior, Hari who was my junior and Santosh who left the job for MS and I. We had planned it and null it many times because there was no holiday in our org. But at last, we found a date, it was Viswakarma Puja and it was semi-holiday. Semi holiday in the sense, we had to attend the puja, because it was our responsibility to arrange the puja in our site. So we finished all the work and we left for the Tada within 11 am.

It will be best, if you went there with a group because then you will be able to enjoy even more.

Best Time To Visit

Best time to visit there is from Oct to Feb. It will be better if you can avoid the rainy season. In summer you will feel uncomfortable. If someone wants to see the mad falls then the rainy season is best, but additional caution needs to be taken. No one knows when danger will come on your way.

How To Reach

When we were planning, we found out every alternative to reach there

Buses are available from Chennai (starting at Koyembedu bus stand) SETC bus no.114 drops you till Varadayya palem (the last human settlement on the way to TADA falls). Varadyya palem is approximately 8 km from the forest dept. check post. Autos are available for travel from Varadayya palem to the check post, which would cost between Rs200 and Rs350, depending on how well you can bargain.
Trains from Chennai heading to Sullurpeta from Chennai Central pass via Tada. There is a train every two hours and the last train from Tada to Chennai leaves at 8:30 pm.
A car is the best transport mode. If you start the journey from Chennai Central, then it is approx 95km and it will take nearly 2hr30min to reach there. It will be best to go via NH16, then from Tada, you have to take left and from Varadihapalem again you have to take left to reach the waterfalls.

We hired a car from Zoom car app. Zoom cars are available in the various location. We had started the journey from SPkoil, we took the train to reach Thirusulam near Chennai airport. From there four of us had started our journey. Rupesh, Hari and I went there together and Santosh came later to join us.

Hari and Santosh are Tamilian. But when we reached there and asked a man to
tell which road should we follow, he couldn't understand. We already entered
in Andhra Pradesh and they know only Telugu. We always think that Tamil and Telegu
are same. But in actual it is not.

another side and again started walking
