If you want your HTML file from the local file system, and that file will be able to make requests to other sites to access data or other resources in chrome browser,then run below command in terminal window.

open -a /Applications/Google\ Chrome.app --args --allow-file-access-from-files --disable-web-security

Note : Before running above command close the chrome.

Custom font in IPhone Application

Sometimes we have apply our own custom fonts in application.

Normally we add the fontfile name with extension to resources and a entry in plist.

In code we will use the font some thing like this

[lblTest setFont: [UIFont fontWithName: @"fontfilenamewithoutextension" size:30]];

But this doesn't works if font name is different from font file name.
To get the font name use below code.

Pick the font name from the list which is printed in the log and then just replace that

Now your custom font works :).

Disabling native iOS vertical window movement in phonegapp application

When we are developing phonegap application page moves up and down when we scroll in the webview eventhough page has little data.

Installing Apk on Android Emulator Window and Mac

Below are the Steps to install Apk on Windows Android Emulator.

Open command prompt

Go to Android Sdk folder.C:\android-sdk-windows\tools

In command prompt type adb install apkname.apk

If you don' find adb command then

Download the adb.zip file which contains adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll and InstallAgent(batch file)

unzip and copy these files to tools directory.

Below are the Steps to install Apk on Mac os Android Emulator.

Open Terminal

go to android-sdk-mac\platform-tools

type ./adb install myApp.apk

If you get any error while installing on Mac just restart the adb.Below are the commands

./adb kill-server

./adb start-server

Note : copy apk to tools and platform-tools directories on windows and mac respectively.

Height Percentage issue with Google Maps

If you try to use style="width:100%;height:100%" on your map div, you get a map div that has zero height. That's because the div tries to be a percentage of the size of the , but by default the has an indeterminate height.
There are ways to determine the height of the screen and use that number of pixels as the height of the map div, but a simple alternative is to change the so that its height is 100% of the page. We can do this by applying style="height:100%" to both the and the . (We have to do it to both, otherwise the tries to be 100% of the height of the document, and the default for that is an indeterminate height.

The also has a margin by default. If you want to switch that off, add "margin:0" to the style, to push the body right out to the edge of the screen.

This is totally IIS configuration related issue as applicationHost.config marked as corrupted. You may get this error due to various reasons unmanaged restoration, erroneous editing of applicationHost.config, etc. Here I am going to show you quick recovery method without going any deep. Technically we are going to restore the applicationHost.config file form IIS generated backups by using AppCmd.exe command line tool.

Go to the Command Prompt.

Change the path to > %windir%\system32\inetsrv\

Find the current backup list > %windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe list backup

Select the latest backup by sequence number
Restore the backup > %windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe restore backup

Access MasterPage ScriptManager from a Content Page

You probably know that each ASP.NET Ajax page MUST have ONLY ONE ScriptManager control.
No more, no less.

If you try to add more than one ScriptManager to ASP.NET page you will receive error:
"Only one instance of a ScriptManager can be added to the page."

Because of this, its common (and recommended) practice to use this approach:
Create MasterPage, and place ScriptManager control on it and then use this instance on each of ContentPages.

here is the code that you can place on your ContentPage to retrieve an instance of ScriptManager from MasterPage:

ScriptManager scriptManager = ScriptManager.GetCurrent(this.Page);

Highlight or BOLD a single item in a drop down list in Html we can do using optgroup tag.

Captilizing the first letter of all words in a sentence.

We need to capitalize the first letters of some word or some text (for example when we want to display users name or city name etc).
Since string class does not have a method to do this we could think that there is no built-in solution in C# for this problem...

But a little digging trough MSDN would help us find ToTitleCase method of TextInfo class in System.Globalization namespace that does exactly what we need: capitalizes the first letter of each word in the string.

here is how to use it:

using System.Globalization;

TextInfo UsaTextInfo = new CultureInfo("en-US", false).TextInfo;

string capitalized = UsaTextInfo.ToTitleCase("asp.net simply rocks!!!");

After the execution, capitalized string would have this value:
"Asp.Net Simply Rocks!!!".

Using body onload with ASP.net MasterPages

we want to use body onload tag in master pages but it will have effect other content pages.The onload function is for only one content page.for this purpose we have used below code in master page.

This example is a non-AJAX solution.

The trick is to use the OnClientClick and UseSubmitBehavior properties of the button control. There are other methods, involving code on the server side to add attributes, but I think the simplicity of doing it this way is much more attractive:

OnClientClick allows you to add client side OnClick script. In this case, the JavaScript will disable the button element and change its text value to a progress message. When the postback completes, the newly rendered page will revert the button back its initial state without any additional work.

The one pitfall that comes with disabling a submit button on the client side is that it will cancel the browser’s submit, and thus the postback. Setting the UseSubmitBehavior property to false tells .NET to inject the necessary client script to fire the postback anyway, instead of relying on the browser’s form submission behavior.

Check a value in a string using Javascript

In .net if we want to check a value whether it is existing in given string
we have contains function which return true or false.
But in javascript we dont have function like this.But we can implement this
by using the function indexOf()

All you need to do is check whether the return value is -1 or not. A return value of -1 implies that the specific letter is not present in the given string.

This is related to sqlserver.
Our team recently completed a project for a Real estate company, for which we received thank-you letters and e-mails from very happy customers.we have stored this in a table.
we want to show this on page. We chose to display 10 notes, but we didn't want a fixed display because it would be boring and require maintenance. So, we opted to display 10 notes selected at random.

To do this just we have used a simple query which displays
different result at diffent times.

extra code when we have a master page for the aspx page.

If you have more than one button on a form ASP.Net doesn't know which button should be the default button.

With this code you may trigger any button click from any text box when the enter key is pressed.
