Amazing Facts about Jellyfish

1.
Jellyfish first appeared about 650 million years ago and are found in
every ocean, from the surface to the deep sea. Some are also found in
fresh water

2. A group of jellyfish is called a bloom or swarm

3. Jellyfish do not have a respiratory system since their skin is thin enough that the body is oxygenated by diffusion

4. Jellyfish do not have a brain or central nervous system, but rather
have a loose network of nerves, located in the epidermis, which is
called a “nerve net.”

5. Jellyfish are composed of more than
90% water. Most of their umbrella mass is a gelatinous material (the
jelly) called mesoglea, which is surrounded by two layers of cells which
forms the umbrella (top surface). The subumbrella (bottom surface) of
the body is known as the bell

6. Jellyfish are dioecious; that
is, they are either male or female. In most cases, to reproduce, both
males and females release sperm and eggs into the surrounding water,
where the (unprotected) eggs are fertilized and mature into new
organisms

7. Box jellyfish venom is the most deadly in the
animal kingdon and has caused at least 5,568 recorded deaths since 1954.
Each tentacle has about 500,000 sindasites which are harpoon shaped
needles that inject venom into the victim

8. The lion’s mane
jellyfish is the largest known species of jellyfish. The Arctic Lion’s
mane jellyfish is one of the longest known animals and the largest
recorded specimen had a bell (body) with a diameter of 2.3 m (7 feet 6
inches) and the tentacles reached 36.5 m (120 feet). It was found washed
up on the shore of Massachusetts Bay in 1870

It possesses 2 drivers’ cabins in the front and in the back as it’s actually difficult to drive such a car. In order the limousine could turn and make turns around corners, its middle part is hinged to fold.

Amazing Facts About Pineberries

1.The word “pineberry” is a combination of the words “pineapple” and “strawberry”.

2.Pineberries are actually the oldest strawberry form and were brought from Chile to France in the 1700’s. Initially strawberries were white in south America and Red in north America.

3.The fruit produced by pineberry plants is very fragrant and has flavor that most say is reminiscent of pineapple while keeping the texture and feel of a strawberry.

4.Pineberries are much smaller in size than the usual strawberries we look around us.

5.They are produced on a very small scale in Europe and Belize and are not very beneficial due to the small size of the pineberries.

India has transcended the U.S. and taken the lead as the most spam-sending country in the world. One out of every six junk messages that litter users' e-mail inboxes are coming from India, according to a new report from SophosLabs.

According to Sophos, 5.3 percent of the world's Internet users are from India
-- marking it as the third most connected country after China and the U.S. --
but only 10.2 percent of the citizen has Internet accessibility. Sophos notes
that this may be one of the reasons why there is a absence of security measures
for the country's computers.

India in April. However, India has long maintained a top three spot. Other
countries known for being top spam-senders are Italy, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil.

interesting little orchid that believes on small native wasps to fertilize the

leaves, roots, or stem. It bonds itself to a host plant to obtain water and
nutrients. When in bloom, the Rafflesia eliminates a repulsive odor, similar to

Food poisoning arises when you consume food adulterated with bacteria or other
toxins. Symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach cramps, and generally
begin 4 - 36 hours after eating adulterated food. While food poisoning is often
caused by bacteria, it can also result from eating poisonous plants (some
mushrooms, for instance) and animals (puffer fish). Every year, more than 76
million people get affected from food poisoning, specially during summer when
food may not be kept cold enough to prevent bacteria from multiplying.

Here's a quick list of foods that can
cause food poisoning if you don't take care of how you consume them.

Cheese:

Cheese can easily be adulterated with
bacterias such as Salmonellaor Listeria. Pregnant women are cautioned to stay
away from cheese varieties such as blue-veined, camembert, brie and feta. Make
sure you are not buying lose cheese from the market place. Always go for branded
sealed packed cheese, and do check for its expiry
date.

Eggs:

Sometimes eggs can be adulterated by certain harmful bacteria - Salmonella being
the most threatening. If you consume a raw egg that is infected, you could show
symptoms of severe food poisoning. To prevent this - always purchase eggs from a
clean and believable store, clean gently and store in a refrigerator as soon as
you get home. Always cook eggs well before consuming them.

Food poisoning from potatoes is very uncommon, but not impossible since raw
potatoes can sometimes be of a 'wild' variety that contains toxins to ward off
predators. Most breeders control this toxicity in potatoes, but even farmed
potatoes could turn green, change color and display properties of being
contaminated. Cooking at high heats takes care of these toxins, which is why you
must be weary of the potato's color and texture before adding it in a raw state
to any food.

beetle. elders are about one-fourth inch long, circular in shape with a flattening ridge
bordering the body, concealing the head and legs much like a tortoise. What is
notable about the adult golden tortoise beetle is the color. In spring and
summer, the beetles earn their name when they turn the color of brilliant liquid
gold. The color is generated by an optical illusion; the external cuticle
is transparent and reflects light through a layer of liquid over the next layer
of cuticle. The beetles change color depending on the availability of the liquid
layer. In the fall and winter, the beetles become less bright and are more
orange and bronze with flashes of iridescent color. If you try and collect the
beetle for an insect collection, the beetle soon turns dark brown as is dries,
loosing the golden color. The beetles are most beautiful left alive.

Seahorses are factually extraordinary because of their
exceptional equine look. Differing most other fish, they are monogamous and
copulate for life. Rarer calm, they are the only animal species on Earth in
which the male endures the unborn young. located in shallow tropical and
temperate waters all along the universe, these upright-swimming ancestors of the
pipe fish can measure in size from 0.6 inches (1.5 centimeters) to 14 inches (35
centimeters) long.

Seahorses adhere superior eyesight and their eyes are able to function
independently on both side of their head. This means they can see forwards and
backwards at the same time! This is particularly beneficial as they search for
food by sight.

Seahorses have no teeth and no stomach. meal ceases through their digestive systems so instantly, they must eat almost constantly to stay alive.

Icebergs themselves are amazing natural creations.Icebergs are formed when large blocks of ice breaks off from glaciers
ice shelf and is floating in open water. Because glaciers are built up
from snow falling on the Antarctic continent over millennia, this ice
consists of pure fresh water. This floating chunk of freshwater ice then
interacts with seawater beneath them it.

Blue stripes are often created when a crevice in the ice sheet fills up
with melt-water and freezes so quickly that no bubbles form. When an
iceberg falls into the sea, a layer of salty seawater can
freeze to
the underside. If this is rich in algae, it can form a green stripe.
Brown, black and yellow lines are caused by sediment, picked up when the
ice sheet grinds downhill towards the sea.

It had a 264-cubic-centimetre (16.1 cu in) single-cylinder Otto cycle four-stroke engine mounted on rubber blocks, with two iron tread wooden wheels and a pair of spring-loaded outrigger wheels to help it remain upright. It was essentially a motorized bicycle, although the inventors called their invention the Reitwagen ("riding car"). It was also the first petroleum-powered vehicle.

There are more than 200 species of woodpeckers scattered all over the world. Woodpeckers are able to drill holes in the bark and wood of trees in search of insects. Woodpeckers have very long tongues which they use to capture their prey.

Woodpeckers have predominantly white, black and brown, green and red plumage. Woodpeckers have a pair of firm and centrally located tail feathers that supports and keeps them upright on trees. A very thick skull and squashy bone protects the brain of woodpeckers from shocks caused by persistent pecking behavior.

Stubbly and coarse feathers over their nostrils help woodpeckers to ward off wood flakes created by pecking. Both parents engage in the incubation of young ones, who are born naked and blind. All woodpeckers fly in a typical pattern, with three flaps followed by a single glide.

Woodpeckers create new holes every year. Thus, old cavities drilled by them are used by other hole-nesting species such as starlings, chickadees, owls, and squirrels.

Scientific Name: Panthera tigris

The white tiger (also known as the Bengal tiger) is about 3 meters long, and weighs approximately 180-285 kg (400-569 LB). It’s coat lies flatter than that of the Siberian tiger, the tawny color is richer and the stripes are darker. White tigers are white colored Bengals, they are not albinos and they are not a separate subspecies of tigers.

They have blue eyes, a pink nose, and creamy white furr covered with chocolate colored stripes. White tigers are born to tigers that carry the unusual gene needed for white coloring. The White Tiger is a good swimmer, but a very poor climber. They may be slow runners, but they are stealthy enough to catch any prey in their sights. Because they are solitary animals, they mostly hunt at night.

It is belief that if you are born in the Chinese year of the tiger you are unusually lucky. Let’s hope that some of this luck rubs off on the white tiger before it’s too late. Let's try to protect and preserve their existence on earth.

Amazing facts about Hamsters

Hamsters are native to Syria and were primarily used for research. They are of crepuscular nature, i.e. most active during twilight.
Normally, they have a stout body with strong legs and wide feet. They
have cheek pouches on either side of their heads falling to their
shoulders, which they use to store and carry food. They are secretive burrowers and hoarders. Being nocturnal creatures,
they usually sleep during the day and play and explore at night.

All pet hamsters are descended from a
single female wild golden hamster found with a litter of 12 young in
Syria in 1930. Inbreeding in humans significantly increases the chances
of genetic defects, and is widely shunned. However, marrying aunts,
uncles and cousins is still very common among European royal families -
even the Queen of England and her husband Phillip are second cousins
once removed.

This is totally based on a phenomenon called "habituation". This happens when food becomes less attractive the more you eat it. For example, how the first bite of something is always better than, say, the tenth. Researchers are finding out that this process happens in your mind. So is you trick your mind into thinking that you are already eating, you will feel less of a desire to eat!

Square in body, but females may be slightly longer than tall. The long head is rectangular in shape. The muzzle is deep, with a pronounced stop. The nose is black, blue/black on blue Danes or black spotted on the harlequins. The dark, deep-set eyes are medium in size.

Craco is located in the Region of Basilicata and the Province of Matera.
About 25 miles inland from the Gulf of Taranto at the instep of the
“boot” of Italy. The medieval village of Craco is typical of the hill towns of the region
with mildly undulating shapes and the lands surrounding it sown with
wheat. Around 540AD the area was called “Montedoro” and inhabited by
Greeks who moved inland from the coastal town of Metaponto. Tombs have
been found dating from the 8th century suggesting the original
settlement dates back to then. Today, earthquakes, landslides, and a
lack of fertile farming land have contributed to the abandonment of
Craco.

In 1891, the population of Craco stood at well over 2,000 people. Though
there had been many problems, with poor agricultural conditions
creating desperate times. Between 1892 and 1922 over 1,300 people moved
from the town to North America. Poor farming was added to by
earthquakes, landslides, and War - all of which contributed to this mass
migration. Between 1959 and 1972 Craco was plagued by these landslides
and quakes. In 1963 the remaining 1,800 inhabitants were transferred to a
nearby valley called Craco Peschiera, and the original Craco remains in
a state of crumbling decay to this day.
