Seven months after giving birth to a daughter, former Miss World and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai has still not lost her baby weight, and her followers in India are not taking it easy on her. She's being lambasted by fans and the press in her country who think she should have lost the baby weight by now.

But the 38 year old mum has said she's in no hurry to lose the extra weight she gained during pregnancy, saying she wanted simply to 'enjoy motherhood.

The baby was born on Monday May 7thth, 2012, at Victoria Moses Church in Mushin, to an unmarried mother. According to the child's mother, Kikelomo Ikori, 32, when the baby was delivered, they saw him holding something in his hand which was stained with blood, and after cleaning it, they discovered it was a mini Qur'an.

A day after the baby was born, hundreds of people stormed the resident of the new mum in Shonde street, Ijeshatedo, Surulere, wanting to see the baby with their own eyes. And since his birth, quite a number of Islamic scholars have traveled far and wide to see the baby. Some people believe it's real, some don't.

The baby's mother Kike, who was a christian before giving birth to the baby has now turned to a Muslim. The baby's daddy is a married man who left Kike and told her to abort the pregnancy when he found out she was pregnant, but Kike decided to keep the pregnancy.

People ask me all the time what it takes to become a successful blogger. For years I struggled with that question, because there were so many different things that made one successful in blogging. But over the years, I have found one aspect of blogging that every successful blogger I know from Seth Godin to Linda Ikeji possessed early on when they started. It is an aspect that has made them as successful as they are now and it is one that every upcoming blogger needs to adhere to. It is it to me the best blogging advise of all time and it is this:

If you write a blog post and nobody comments on it, keep writing…
If you pour your heart and soul into a blog entry and nobody retweets it, keep writing…
If you craft the perfect blog post and nobody facebook likes it, keep writing…
If you write the best blog article ever and people tell you it is whack [Including your Mum], keep on writing…

Because success in blogging is not determined by the amount of comments, retweets or likes that you get, but rather by the passion you have for blogging. And provided you keep on writing…your passion will pull you through to success!

When I started out as a blogger all I wanted to do was write about the crazy and stupid things I had done in life and the many lessons I learned while doing them. That was it! But somewhere along the line I stumbled upon a thing called google analytics and google adsense. The former was a detailed measure of visits to a website and the latter was a money machine that rewarded bloggers financially for those site visits. I became instantly fascinated with the two tools and started reading and studying extensively on the both of them. My goal was to improve my site visits so that I could increase the number of people clicking my google adsense links. That was my primary focus! So I would write my blogs posts laced with the right type of keywords as prescribed in the numerous adsense manuals and laced with just the right amount of links that would optimize my blog clickability (not a real word…but me thinks it should be real!). After about 2 months of keywording my blogs I had made a grand total of less than $5! For the effort I had put in my reward was somewhat <insert your own word>. But I am glad it happened, because that period of adsense madness produced one of my most inauthentic writings. It was as if I had sold my writing soul to the devil google.

So one day I pulled off all the google adsense, keyword click searches and ridiculous apparatus I had rigged my site with and started blogging from my heart again. Over the years (but not overnight) my writing improved, my viewership increased and my listserv grew…today I see a lot of bloggers blogging. But their only reason for blogging is to make money or become the most googled blog in the world. So they write not in their own voice but in the voice of google.

If you are a blogger and you are fidgeting with the idea of google adsense and all that other stuff, there is nothing wrong with that, but if it detracts from the purity of your content…stop! Readers can smell fakeness and moreover it waters down your brand. Write from your heart on topics you truly care for, don’t write an entertainment blog post because that is what is popular. Instead, write on entertainment because you truly care about who Kanye West slapped yesterday night entertainment and your readers will feed off your passion.

Yoghurt could make men more virile - A must read!

Eating probiotic yoghurt is known to calm troubled tummies – and now scientists have found it could boost virility as well.

Scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology found male mice fed the vanilla-flavoured dessert had a certain “swagger” when they walked.

They discovered these mice had testicles that were five percent higher than other mice on a normal diet and 15 percent heavier than junk-eating males.

What is more, in mating experiments the yoghurt-eating males inseminated their partners more quickly and produced more young than control mice.

Yoghurt-fed female mice benefited too – they had larger
litters and were more successful at weaning their pups.

The findings could have implications for human fertility and the team will next look at the association between yoghurt and semen quality in men.

The researchers stumbled across the interesting finding when studying the effects of yoghurt on obesity.

In a bid to prove whether yoghurt could help stave off age-related weight gain in humans, researchers Eric Alm and Susan Erdman fed probiotic vanilla yogurt to mice with some unexpected results.

“We knew there was something different in the males, but we weren’t sure what it was at first,” Ms Erdman said.

“You know when someone’s at the top of their game, how they carry themselves differently? Well, imagine that in a mouse.”

Other beneficial effects included slimmer bodies and shinier fur in both sexes as yoghurt-fed mice had 10 times the active follicle density of the control group.

Not only did the girl mice sport the shiny fur coat and considerably slimmer physique of their male counterparts, they also tended to be better mothers to their (as a result of their dairied-up partners) larger litters.

“We think it’s the probiotics in the yoghurt,” Alm explained.

“We think those organisms are somehow directly interacting with the mice to produce these effects.”

Do you Call Him Boo or Baby in Public? Or Do you only call them the pet names in private?

I ask because most people usually have a personal name they call their partners, those sweet, romantic names like boo, baby, sweetie, honeypie, sugar, daddy, mummy, etc. These endearments are used most often in private, and sometimes there are those deeper ones one uses only during tender, intimate moments, like ahem, ahem :)

But what if one gets so used to using those names that it comes out in public? I have found myself in that situation a few times,but it was OK because it was just one or two close friends around. In a real crowd, I'm usually more self aware when it comes to calling Atala's name.

Some ladies it seems, deliberately use the pet names for their partners. And I don't mean boo, sweetie or honey, I heard a lady repeatedly calling the guy she was with a name I can't even write here. It was sweet but it was also a bit uncomfortable, lol.

What about you guys? Will you call your boo names like H*t R*d when others are around?

It is almost midnight, and the city is now very quiet. From the balcony where I am sitting, I can see the mild glow of the street lights reflecting off the tarred road. I hear the whoosh of waves beating on the rocks, a sound amplified in the stillness of the night. The children are asleep after the day’s hustle. Though I call them ‘children’, they are all grown up.

Hassan is a strapping young man of twenty-seven and has just started his own business – hard to believe, isn’t it? Walid is nineteen, looks as burly as Hassan and believes he has no more growing up to do. Faiza, your little princess, is twenty-two and it is because of her that we are all here this weekend.

Is it not strange that for the first time in fifteen years, we will be here together again on October 1st? I wonder if this day carries any special significance for Faiza. She was touched much more deeply than anybody else. Hassan went to boarding school shortly afterwards; Walid was young, too young to remember those tumultuous times.

I remember many things, too many things, things I don’t want to remember: Mama and her harsh words, Big Brother and his sudden hostility.

I can see the bedroom again as it was on that morning, many Octobers ago. Faiza barges in, in her customary manner, throwing a greeting as she bounds up to the bed where you are lying.

“Daddy,” she says, “you promised that you would get me the doll today, today.”

I scold her, “Your daddy is resting today. It’s a public holiday.”

Faiza leans against the bed. She traces squiggles on the bed sheet with her finger. Her legs are crossed at the ankles, her lips pushed out in a pout. She peeks at you from beneath her lowered lids. You groan and roll out of bed. “You children will not kill me,” you mumble. You never could say ‘No’ to that face of hers.

“Instead of you to rest, you want to go racing around town hunting for a doll,” I say to you.

“It wouldn’t really be hunting, because I remember the shop where I saw it. It is near your tailor’s place.”

“Really? In that case let me go with you and pick up my dress from the tailor’s.”

Smiling, you say to me, “Look at the person who has been telling me to rest.”

We leave a few minutes later, with Faiza hopping after the car and telling us to hurry. Walid asked for a toy car but I will persuade you not to buy it because he takes them apart as soon as they get into his hands. I have threatened to have the carpenter make him a toy car carved out of wood. He cried the day I told him that.

Though the streets are not busy, there is quite a lot of traffic near the shop because it is very close to a bus stop. I enter the shop with you to make sure you do not buy Walid a toy car he does not need – and I succeed (though you buy coloring books for him and Faiza).

You see a pack of gel pens and you insist on buying one so that you can write “from daddy with love” on the inside cover of the books. While you are paying for the purchases, I go to the tailor’s shop. I find the tailor hemming the dress. He is done in a few minutes. As I emerge from the shop, I hear shouts coming from a group near the bus stop.

One man breaks away from the group and yells something about “monkey dey work, baboon dey chop”. He is followed by a policeman who says, “My friend, stop shouting at me.”

“Wetin? Na by force? I no get money for you, period!” the man says, still shouting.

“Your mouth dey sharp like razor because I have not dealt with you,” says the policeman.

“You can’t do anything!” the man replies, and strides past me.

“Let’s go,” you call to me, unlocking the car.

“These policemen,” I mutter. I get into the car. As I twist around to grasp my seatbelt, there is a loud bang accompanied by the explosion of glass. I scream and shield my head with both hands. Glass falls all over me, stinging my hands. I can hear people shouting. I raise my head. The windshield is gone.

“What was that?” I ask you. You are leaning back on your seat, eyes shut as if thinking of a suitable answer. There is blood on the head rest of your seat. I am looking at your face, thinking you might just turn to look at me and say, “Why is everyone shouting?”

There are people all around the car, all talking really loudly. A hand rests on my shoulder and voices ask me, “Madam, is this your husband?” “Where do you live?” These strangers help me get home; they watch the car until your family gets there. Their kindness contrasts sharply with your family’s attitude towards me.

Your mother and brothers change suddenly. They are bitter that you were killed so carelessly and eager to control the little wealth you and I have put by. They want the bungalow too.

I find myself fighting off my in-laws with the fury of a tigress defending her cubs. When the battle finally ends, every iota of strength I have within me is gone. Each morning, the thought of eating, talking, going to work, taking the children to school and sorting out your affairs simply exhausts me.

I send Hassan to boarding house so he does not have to witness the ugliness. Walid sleeps, eats and plays through it all. Faiza clings to my side, ignoring everyone and everything.

She holds onto the coloring book you bought for her as if your spirit were shut between its pages. She sometimes sits quietly for long moments, deep sadness in her eyes. I try to think of ways to comfort her, but what do I say?

I do not know how much she knows about the incident but she asks at intervals, “Have they arrested the policeman yet?” I say to her, “Soon, they’ll catch him”. That is the only answer I give each time she asks about the policeman.

Finally, I lie. I tell her that he is in prison. I start believing it myself. I add to my fantasy a mad policeman. It makes more sense to your little princess and me that way.

Each year, on September 30th, I sit on this balcony and watch October 1st arrive. Somewhere in my head, I believe that perhaps if I write a letter to you while I wait for sunrise, the next twelve months will be easier to live through.

P.S.

Your little princess will be married by this time tomorrow. My father will stand as her guardian and give her away (your family cut us off after the battle over inheritance). When I enter her room tonight, I see the coloring book on her bedside table. The pictures inside are as plain as they were the day you bought it. Your writing is still on the inside cover: To Faiza, from daddy with love. I think she will take it with her to her new home. I smile.

CBN To introduce N2000 and N5000 denomination?

According to Leadership newspaper, the Central Bank of Nigeria, in an attempt to reduce the volume of cash baggage and security exposure in cash transactions, is contemplating the introduction of new currency denominations of N2,000 and N5,000.

The bank has also made plans to convert N5, N10, N20 and N50 into coins which are all presently notes. Though no one at CBN has confirmed this, but reliable sources told the newspaper that it will happen, they just do not know when it would take effect or when it would be announced to the public.

Seriously i think this is a very good means for all this politicians to steal more money without been caught...lol

"Obama the First Gay President" Says Newsweek cover page

The accompanying cover story was written by Andrew Sullivan, the popular--and openly gay--political blogger. The magazine even gives the commander-in-chief a rainbow halo.

Obama, Sullivan writes, "had to discover his black identity and then reconcile it with his white family, just as gays discover their homosexual identity and then have to reconcile it with their heterosexual family."
The full cover story is not yet online, but in a blog post published earlier this week, Sullivan wrote that Obama's support of gay marriage brought him to tears:

I do not know how orchestrated this was; and I do not know how calculated it is. What I know is that, absorbing the news, I was uncharacteristically at a loss for words for a while, didn't know what to write, and, like many Dish readers, there are tears in my eyes.
So let me simply say: I think of all the gay kids out there who now know they have their president on their side. Today Obama did more than make a logical step. He let go of fear. He is clearly prepared to let the political chips fall as they may. That's why we elected him.

CBN governor in court over plagiarism

An America based Professor, Victor Dike has dragged the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja over plagiarism.

Dike who is Adjunct Professor at the School of Engineering and Technology, National University, Sacremento, in a statement of claims filed by his counsel, Mr. E.U. Chinedum, alleged that the CBN governor breached his copy rights at a public lecture he delivered at the 8th Convocation Ceremony of Igbinedion University in Okada, Edo State, on the 26th November 2010, titled 'Growth Prospects for the Nigerian Economy'.

Dike, who is also the Chief Executive Office and Founder, Centre for Social Justice and Human Development in California, US said that Sanusi copied verbatim from his articles without referring to him as the original author.

The professor claimed that Sanusi copied from pages 98,99 and 100 of his work titled, 'Review of the Challenges Facing the Nigerian Economy: Is National Development Possible Without Technological Capability?'

The plaintiff, stated the copied lines as follows:

"the challenges facing the economy is in-effective institutions and dilapidated infrastructure (bad roads, erratic power supply, limited access to potable water and basic healthcare, and in-effective regulatory agencies, etc). The plethora of reforms and policies are in-effective due to institutional failure (Hoff,2003)".

These sentences are from one of the publications where the CBN governor is alleged to have plagiarised.

Similarly at another lecture he delivered at the Convocation Square, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. where Sanusi presented a paper titled 'Global Financial Meltdown and the Reforms in the Nigerian Banking Sector', the plaintiff alleged that Sanusi copied verbatim articles originally written and published by him without acknowledging him as the author of the works from where he (Sanusi) sourced the materials that made up his lecture.

The plaintiff stated that Sanusi on six different occasions copied his materials without acknowledging him as the original author of the works.

He is asking for the sum of N15 million as compensation, the cost of filing the suit and the cost of traveling to Nigeria.
The plaintiff also asked the court to declare that Sanusi plagiarized his works and breached his copy right.
He asked the court to direct Sanusi to retract the papers from the public by removing them from the CBN website.
The plaintiff further asked the court to make a publication in a national daily denouncing the authorship of the articles.
The court yesterday ordered the bailiff to paste the court's processes at the CBN after the bailiff deposed to an affidavit that the security at the office did not accept service.

The case was adjourned by Adamu Bello to 31st of May for mention.

LONDON (Reuters) – Arsenal striker Robin van Persie was named England’s Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association on Tuesday, two days after being picking up the PFA Player of the Year prize.

Van Persie, 28, was the first Dutchman to win the prestigious honour since Dennis Bergkamp, also of Arsenal, in 1998 and the third player from the Netherlands to do so following Frans Thijssen of Ipswich Town in 1981.

He topped the poll of journalists with a landslide victory ahead of Manchester United team mates Wayne Rooney, who won the award in 2010, and Paul Scholes who was third after coming out of retirement halfway through the season. Fulham’s United States striker Clint Dempsey was fourth.

Van Persie’s 34 goals in all competitions have lifted Arsenal into the top three in the Premier League, leaving them on the brink of Champions League qualification after a very poor start to the campaign.

FWA chairman Steve Bates told Reuters: “Robin was the overwhelming choice of our members this season and deservedly so after a magnificent campaign for Arsenal. The quality of his goals, attacking movement and consistency in a turbulent season for The Gunners has been eye-catching.

“The considerable size of his majority in the votes cast by our members reflected the general view that he has been the season’s most outstanding individual performer.”

The Footballer of the Year award is the oldest of its kind in world football and was first awarded to Stanley Matthews in 1948.
