A new software platform from Kodak’s Document Imaging business enables companies to quickly make sense of input from virtually any communications channel—including text messages, social media posts and emails—to improve the outcome of customer service interactions. KODAK Info Insight Platform reads, understands, and uses incoming and existing data to create a powerful, actionable stream of information and knowledge, which helps increase speed and lower the cost of completing business transactions. Kodak Posts First Quarter Profit of $283 Million

Eastman Kodak Company today reported $283 million in consolidated net earnings in the first quarter of 2013, compared to a $366 million loss in the prior-year quarter. The profitable quarter reflects improved results of the Commercial Imaging segments and includes a $535 million gain recorded on the sale of Kodak’s digital imaging patent portfolio, partially offset by a $77 million non-cash goodwill impairment charge related to the patent sale.

Eastman Kodak Company has reached agreement with Brother Industries, Ltd., for the proposed sale of certain assets of its Document Imaging business for a cash purchase price of approximately $210 million, subject to certain price adjustments at closing. In addition, Brother will assume deferred service revenue liability of the business, which totaled approximately $67 million as of December 31, 2012.
