Wow! Me and Jose just got back to our hotel room from the SkillsUSA
closing ceremony. We won 5th in the State for Web Design. We were
proud. Even though we did not win first, we did our best and we placed.
We only had 2.5 hours to design our site( not enough time if you ask
me). Now we are chilling and surfing the net. We are happy that the
stress of competing is over and done with. I can't wait to get back
home and chill in my own room. This has been an awesome conference and
I am so glad that we went. Our school had two students who earned 1st
place. They get to go to nationals in Kansas city! I wish I were going.
I hope to go next year as a post-secondary member of SkillsUSA.

We have been busy, skills is one of the things that we have been up to, another is graduation.

Wintery Weather

We are experiencing wintery weather here at KoffeeStain for the first time! THe authors are not going to school today. It has been about 4 years since the Lenoir area has experienced snow. We are staying home to enjoy it as much as we can. Be careful out there in the cold!

New Column

Hey everyone, its Jose, just letting you guys know that I will be starting a new Weekly Post which I like to call Digital Activism. I will be discussing anything that goes against the norm, like protests, digital petitions, etc.

The story I want to talk about is the Witness Against Torture gathering in Washington DC on Jan. 11.

Friday, January 11, 2008: The 6 year anniversary of the first prisoners being brought to Guantánamo.
Last year on January 11th, after 500 people processed from the Supreme Court to the Federal court, 150 people risked arrest on behalf of the men in Guantanamo, with 88 being arrested inside the Federal Court in DC. Many of those arrested withheld their identification and took the names of men at Guantanamo. It was a very powerful day, made possible by the contributions of many in the extended Catholic Worker family.

This year, we again are working with many groups on a demonstration in Washington, D.C. The day will begin with a rally at the National Mall co-sponsored with Amnesty International and the National Religious Campaign Against Torture followed by a “prisoner procession” to the Supreme Court. Endorsed by the American Civil Liberties Union, Bill of Rights Defense Committee, Center for Constitutional Rights, CodePink, International Federation for Human Rights, Network of Spiritual Progressives, Peace Action, School of the Americas Watch, Torture Abolition and Survivors Support Coalition International, United for Peace and Justice, War Resisters League, and 100 other groups.
I really respect what the WAT is trying to do and I hope you guys get involved too. The only thing that you have to do is wear something orange on Jan 11th. The color orange represents the orange jumpsuits that prisoners at Guantanamo have to wear. If anybody participates please feel free to send pics so we can put them up on the blog.

School is back

School is officially back in session. Me and Jose are taking advaced web graphics together. We will have more chances to colab now on what we ant to do with KoffeeStain. WE have made alot of changes but we still need content.

Organic Blogger T-shirt

Blogger has released an organic and environment friendly shirt. It's mad of 55% hemp 45% cotton and no pollutants. It's made in China but not in sweat shops. "It's perfect." says cranders. " It's a little heavier than a normal shirt but it's fine."

Hemp has an antimicrobial property and makes the shirt stay smelling better longer then a cotton t. The product details also mentions that it becomes softer with every wash.

I definitely recommend it!

Search engines record almost everything about you. Try it for yourself. If you have a username that is quite unique then it will display everything! Every place that you exist in online, Social networking sites, websites, accounts and even deviantart. It's pretty scary. Chumby: Open Source Companion That Does It Alll

This little guy runs on linux. He is fully customizable aswell. IT has wi-fi, touchscreen, and it's squishy! Owners are encouraged to mod the as they please, inside and out. Chumby has widgets that can check ebay, weather or whatever you want. Widgets can be downloaded or made yourself. It's also compatible with Ipods. It will even do slide shows of your flickr album. There is no subscriptions and content wil be updated regularly.

As of yesterday Halo is finally being shipped to be manufactured and be put on discs. Halo will be here in 26 days.

Halo 3 for Xbox 360 has gone Gold! That means we delivered a final version to our internal certification group that passed all the tests and is now being whisked away to top secret manufacturing locations to be turned into retail versions of the game – and eventually packaged and sent to stores in various cases, tins and cat-helmets. We can’t wait to share it with you guys on September 25th and 26th, but we have to say thanks.

We have to say thanks to everyone at Bungie who worked so hard to make this the best game we've ever made. We have to say thanks to everyone at Microsoft who helped us make it the best game we ever made. We have to say thanks to our tireless team of artists, designers, engineers, musicians, technicians, writers, directors, producers, thinkers, administrators, ninjas, specialists, gorillas, webmasters and pimps. Which browser do you use?

If you use Internet Explorer then you might change your mind. Most people who use internet explorer either don;t know what a browser is ( they they think IE is the internet xD ) or they just don't care.

Check out this video. If you use firefox then you will understand this video. If you don't know what Firefox is then you should try it out and see what they mean. Afterward you will see why the only people in this video that don't use Firefox have never tried it to begin with. If you try it you will like it.
