Shane Bond to bond with KKR to shine

Shane Bond, one of the best Fast Bowlers in World Cricket has been bought By KKR in IPL auction held today. The biggest surprise in the auction was That No one bought Shahid Afridi who was known to be the major attraction of this auction. Shane Bond and Kieron Pollard were the major signings in this auction as they both were sold for $750,000 plus.

Surprisingly, Shahid Afridi, Md. Aamer and other Pakistanis had no takers. The reason for this being the Indo-Pak relations for sure. Another surprise was Graeme Swann, the bowling all-rounder from England too had no takers. Let us have a look at the players sold in the auction -

Kieron Pollard had 4 takers with bids of $750,000 and eventually he was sold to Mumbai Indians through a 'Silent' Tie-Breaker and even Shane Bond had 2 takers with bids of 750,000$.

Surely, Boom Boom Afridi will be missed by a lot of his fans all over the world as his style suits T20 Cricket and he was 'tailor-made' for T20.

Owais Shah - Is he the right Signing for KKR???

He grips his bat handle so hard he cramps up within minutes, nobody likes batting with him much because he has an unrivalled ability to run out team-mates and he isn’t the best fielder in the world by a long way.

But somewhere, in the mad world of Owais Shah, lurks one of the most gifted hitters of a cricket ball to have emerged from the United Kingdom – he was born in Pakistan but came to England as a child.

Did you see his innings in Centurion in September last year? He hit 98 off 89 balls, scattering the spectators on the grass banks on several occasions in what was perhaps the best innings of the Champions Trophy.

But even then, he managed to get bogged down in the 90s (and the fact he got bogged down shows how ludicrously fast he had got to 90) before getting out to a defensive prod off a spinner.

And even then, having scored those runs and put England into a match-winning position, he almost lost them the game when his confidence should have been as high as the Highveld itself – by dropping a catch at mid-on off Graeme Smith which Geoffrey Boycott’s mum would have caught with one hand following a ten-hour drinking binge.

Enough is quite enough, said England. They now have the rather calmer Jonathan Trott in the one-day side. He may not be able to launch exocet-type sixes like Shah does, but his heart-rate will never panic an ambulance crew.

I have no idea what the Knight Riders will get from Shah, or what Shah will get from the Knight Riders, nor indeed will the fans think about a man who should have averaged a lot more than 30.56 in 71 one-day internationals.

His county career has not exactly been laced with consistent success either, although there have been one or two seasons when he has pounded out a few centuries in the dying County Championship for Middlesex, and the odd one-day innings from them when he has looked like a fantasy creation formed by the best bits of Bradman, Trumper, Lara and Tendulkar.

I have a lingering feeling that Shah’s career will not come without some sort of landmark chapter. My complex double negative means that yes, there really is a chance he can got out and be a Knight Riders legend, belting sixes over the short IPL boundaries and sending KKR fans into paroxysms of unbridled happiness.

Just don’t hope too much.

KKR win against Air India in a practice match

Ganapathy Vignesh slammed 83 runs of just 54 balls to help KKR score 161/6 in 20 overs. Air India, in reply managed to make just 130 runs and lost 8 wickets. Saurav Ganguly captained KKR but didnt bat or bowl in bid to give youngsters to show their worth. KKR's bowling performance was very impressive as Mohammad Niyaz scalped 3 wickets for just 24 runs while Parvinder Awana & Sri Lankan Mystery Spinner Ajantha Mendis scalped two each. Brief Scorecard-

Kolkata Knight Riders 161/6 (Ganapathy Vignesh 83). Air India 130/8 (Niyaz 3/24, Ajantha Mendis 2/9). Kolkata Knight Riders won by 31 runs.

KKR are looking in good shape and have a great morale said Wasim Akram. KKR Players are undergoing a camp which started last Friday and today is a rest day & the Camp will be resumed on Thursday.

New Signings - The Four Shortlists

After going through the list of Overseas Players registered for auction to be held on 19 January, I have Shortlisted 4 players who can be a massive boost for the team. We must not spend large but should buy few players of high value. So according to me - these 4 players will be very valuable for KKR - Shahid Afridi, Kieron Pollard, Shane Bond & Md. Aamer.

These four players will be very valuable for the team as they can win matches for their team on their own.

We all know about Shahid Afridi - how dangerous he can be with the bat and even with the ball. Kieron Pollard is one of the most threatening aggressive batsman of the present time. Shane Bond is a great bowler and his stats say it all. Md. Aamer is very young and hungry to succeed and that's what is required to succeed. He can learn a lot under Wasim Akram to become more perfect. These four players can be a massive boost for KKR in 2010. The advantage Shahid Afridi and Kieron Pollard can give us is that They can bowl very well too which can help us increasing our batting order.

I hope they are the players whom we buy this time and according to me 4 are enough as these players are very talented and skilled and can provide big wins for KKR.
