കരിപ്പുറം തമ്പുരാൻ - അയനിയൂട്ട് തമ്പുരാൻ കരിപ്പുറം തമ്പുരാൻ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ചരിത്രം കുറച്ചു കാലങ്ങളായി അന്വേഷിച്ചു നടന്നതാണ്. പ്രാദേശികമായി വിശ്വാസങ്ങൾക്കപ്പുറം തെക്കൻ തിരുവിതാംകൂറിലെ എല്ലാ തമ്പുരാൻ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾക്കും പിന്നിൽ ഒരു ചരിത്രമുണ്ട്. അവയൊക്കെ വീരാരാധന കൊണ്ടുണ്ടായ ചരിത്ര സ്മാരകങ്ങൾ കൂടിയാണ്. മഹാന്മാരായ രാജാക്കന്മാരുടേയോ വീരയോദ്ധാക്കളുടേയോ സ്മാരകങ്ങളെന്നതാണ് പല തമ്പുരാൻ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളുടെയും പിന്നിലുള്ള ചരിത്രം. കൂടുതലായി കാണുന്ന തമ്പുരാൻ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ ഉലകുടെയ പെരുമാൾ തമ്പുരാന്റേതും അയനിയൂട്ട് തമ്പുരാന്റേതുമാണ്.

കന്യാകുമാരി ജില്ലയിലെ വിളവങ്കോട്( ഇപ്പോൾ കിള്ളിയൂർ താലൂക്ക്) താലൂക്കിലുൾപ്പെട്ട ഏഴുദേശം പഞ്ചായത്തിലെ കലിംഗരാജപുരത്താണ് കരിപ്പുറം തമ്പുരാൻ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഇതിനോട് ചേർന്നാണ് പ്രസിദ്ധമായ കോതേശ്വരം മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം നിലകൊള്ളുന്നത്. 2500 ലധികം വർഷങ്ങൾക്കു മുൻപ് നിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ടതാണ് കോതേശ്വരം മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം എന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. പിന്നീട് കടൽ ക്ഷോഭം കാരണം ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം മണ്ണിനടിയിലായി. പൂച്ചെടികൾ വെട്ടി മാറ്റുന്നതിനിടയിൽ 1923 ലാണ് ക്ഷേത്രഗോപുരം ശ്രദ്ധയിൽ പെടുന്നത്. തുടർന്ന് ശ്രീ. ബാലദണ്ഡായുധപാണി സ്വാമികളുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ നാട്ടുകാർ മണ്ണുമാറ്റുകയും ആരാധന നടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു. നന്തി, നാഗർ എന്നീ ഉപദേവത ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളും കുഴിച്ചെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു. 1995 ലാണ് ക്ഷേത്രക്കിണർ കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. കൊതിച്ചൻ പിള്ള സ്വാമികളാൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തപ്പെട്ടതിനാൽ ഇത് കോതേശ്വരം എന്ന് അറിയപ്പെട്ടു. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ പടിഞ്ഞാറു ഭാഗത്തായിട്ടാണ് കരിപ്പുരം തമ്പുരാൻ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. പ്രസിദ്ധമായ കൊല്ലങ്കോട് മുടിപ്പുരയുമായും കരിപ്പുറം തമ്പുരാൻ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് ബന്ധമുണ്ട്. പ്രാദേശികമായ വിശ്വാസപ്രകാരം നിലനിൽക്കുന്ന കഥ, കൊല്ലങ്കോട് മുടിപ്പുരയിലെ ആദ്യ പൂജാരി എന്നു വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന മഹി മാർത്താണ്ഡനുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടതാണ്. വൈക്കല്ലൂർ ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ ഒരു ഗന്ധർവ്വന്റെ വിഹാരം നാട്ടുകാർക്ക് ഭീഷണിയായി. പല വഴികളും നോക്കി പരാജയപ്പെട്ട നാട്ടുകാർ മഹാമാന്ത്രികനും കൊല്ലങ്കോട് മുടിപ്പുരയിലെ പൂജാരിയുമായിരുന്ന മഹി മാർത്താണ്ഡന്റെ സഹായം തേടി. അദ്ദേഹം ഗന്ധർവനെ ബന്ധിക്കുകയും കരിപ്പുറം തമ്പുരാനായി കുടിയിരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു എന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം. മറ്റു മിക്ക തമ്പുരാൻ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലും കണ്ടു വരുന്നതുപോലെ പീഠവും വാളും തന്നെയാണ് ഇവിടെയും ആരാധിക്കുന്നത്. കൊല്ലങ്കോട് തൂക്ക മഹോത്സവത്തിനു മുന്നോടിയായി കരിപ്പുറം തമ്പുരാൻ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഇപ്പോഴും പ്രത്യേക പൂജകൾ ചെയ്തു വരുന്നുണ്ട്. 12 വർഷത്തിലൊരിക്കൽ നടക്കുന്ന കൊല്ലങ്കോട് കാളിയൂട്ട് മഹോത്സവത്തിന് കരിവട്ടം വയലിൽ നിർമ്മിക്കുന്ന താത്കാലിക മുടിപ്പുരയ്ക്ക് കിഴക്ക് ഭാഗത്തായി കരിപ്പുറം തമ്പുരാനേയും കുടിയിരുത്തി പൂജകൾ ചെയ്യുന്നു. കലിംഗരാജപുരത്തെ കരിപ്പുറം തമ്പുരാൻ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലും കൊല്ലങ്കോട് ദേവിക്ക് സ്ഥാനം നൽകിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇതിനോട് ചേർത്തു വായിക്കാവുന്ന ചരിത്രകാരന്മാരുടെ അഭിപ്രായ പ്രകാരം തെക്കൻ തിരുവിതാംകൂറിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന നിരവധി അയനിയൂട്ട് തമ്പുരാൻ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് കരിപ്പുറം തമ്പുരാൻ ക്ഷേത്രം. Our kollemcode is a beautiful village.. ONCE UPON A TIME...i think in 1980's we used to get canal water from Neyyar Dam. I think now we have completed 18 years without getting a single drop of water thrugh this canal. Our dearest polictial parties are also competative each other to fill the canal /( thodukal) and made new roads..

Some of our friend updloaded some photos of the present canal..Iam wondering that why we are not responding to this. we are paying the tax for water.. and also still i remember that when I was studying in our Gvt. School we used to go to the paddy field and use to wash our plates after having foods in lunch time. And also in raining season the paddy field will look like a back water .. now that and all memory for us and it is goinng to be a history for the next generation. And also at thookkam period from the 4th day to till 10th day we can see the men in red colour from PERUM KULAM to MUDIPPURA.. ( for bath - morning and evening- all use to go to perumkulam) now the most of the area are encroached by the people and it become a road and the perumkulam is there are not I dont know .. Because since last 4-5 years I have not visited that area.. I heard that some of our political leader has promised that she will get water before the next thookkam. We can wait for more 3 months as the next thookkam is very near by..

Due to the friction between the both kerala and tamil nadu government.. the poor village/people are suffering for the water.The total climate has been changed.. there is no breaze.. only hot air..the ground water level has gone down beyond the imagination.. no water in wells.. no agricultural development.. once i was the witness when some people are making new raod and they are filling the canal. I have immediately given the complaint to the irrigation department and got reply mail from our village office saying that they will look in to this...sorry to say that is only in look only...

The interesting thing is the water is flowing towards to the arebian sea and it is getting wasted. Due to the friction in each state , our village is getting dried up. Both the state government is not bother and even our local politicians.. it is too bad and pitty on our self. We are indians and all indians are ... this we have started saying from LKG onwards.. see our goverment's rules and regulations.. Inside INIDA there are two states inside our country and the both state has no understandng on a simple issue and wasting of water... what an India and what Indians we are....

We have to do something for this, as swami Vivekanada Said.. AWAKE ...ARISE..ACT..

ഓരോ ദിവസവും കഴിയുമ്പോഴും അമ്മയുടെ അനുഗ്രഹതിന്റെയും ഐശ്വര്യത്തിന്റെയും പ്രസാദം സ്വീകരിക്കുവാന്‍ വിവിധ ദേശങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് പോലും ഭക്തരുടെ തിരക്കാണ്. ഒരു സ്ത്രീക്ക് മാത്രമേ സഹനത്തിന്റെ ശക്തിയായ മാതൃത്വം ലഭിക്കുകയുള്ളൂ.ആ സഹനത്തില്‍ ലഭിക്കുന്ന സ്നേഹത്തിന്റെ അമൂല്യമായ നിധിയെ കൊല്ലങ്കോട്ടമ്മ യുടെ തിരുനടയില്‍ ആയുരാരോഗ്യത്തിനും ഐശ്വര്യത്തിനും വേണ്ടി തൂക്ക നേര്‍ച്ചയായി സമര്‍പ്പിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ചരിത്രത്തിന്റെ താളുകളില്‍ കൊല്ലങ്കോട്‌ തൂക്ക നേര്ച്ച അഭൂത പൂര്‍വമായി വര്‍ധിച്ചു വരുകയാണ്.ഓരോ വര്‍ഷവും മീന മാസത്തിലെ ഭരണി നാളിനു വേണ്ടി കാത്തിരിക്കുകയാണ് നാട്ടുകാരും വിദേശങ്ങളില്‍ ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നവരും.അവരുടെ മനസ്സുകളില്‍ അവശേഷിക്കുന്നത് പഴയ കാല ഉത്സവ ഓര്‍മ്മകള്‍ മാത്രം. കൊല്ലന്കൊടും പല വിഷയങ്ങളില്‍ എതിര്‍ അഭിപ്രായക്കാര്‍ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും കൊല്ലങ്കോട്‌ തൂക്കമെന്ന വികാരം മനസ്സില്‍ വരുമ്പോള്‍ എല്ലാപേരും ഒന്നാണ്.ഉത്സവത്തിനു മോടി കൂട്ടുവാന്‍ ജാതി മത ഭേദ മേന്യേ കഠിന പ്രയത്നം ചെയ്യുന്ന നാട്ടുകാരെ ഉത്സവ സമയങ്ങളില്‍ കാണാന്‍ കഴിയും. എല്ലാപേര്‍ക്കും ഒരു ചിന്ത മാത്രം ; കൊല്ലങ്കോട്‌ തൂക്ക മഹോത്സവം.

കൊല്ലങ്കോട്‌ ഇന്ന് കാണുന്ന 21 വാര്‍ഡുകളുള്ള ഏക പഞ്ചായത്ത് ആയതു 1983 കാലഘട്ടത്തിനു ശേഷമാണു. അതിനു മുന്‍പ്‌ 4 ഗ്രാമ പഞ്ചായത്തുകളും ഒരു നഗര പഞ്ചായത്തുമായാണ് ഇത് നിലനിന്നിരുന്നത്. വിവിധ രാഷ്ട്രീയ പാര്‍ടികളും നേതാക്കന്മാരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും ഇന്നും എല്ലാപേര്‍ക്കും മസ്സില്‍ ആദരവോടെ നില്‍ക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തിയാണ് ശ്രീ.എ.കെ.എം.ദാസ്സയ്യന്‍ . മികച്ച പ്രാസംഗികന്‍ എല്ലാ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിലും സര്‍വ്വ സംമതനായി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന വ്യക്തി, വിവിധ പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുടെ അധ്യക്ഷന്‍ , കൂടുതല്‍ തവണ കൊല്ലങ്കോട്‌ പ്രസിഡന്‍റ് സ്ഥാനം വഹിച്ച വ്യതി, സാധരന്ക്കാര്കും അവരുടെ ഉന്നമനത്തിനും കോടികള്‍ അസ്ഥിയുണ്ടായിരുന്ന തന്റെ സ്വത്തു വകകള്‍ വള്ളവിള ഇട വകയ്ക്ക് എഴുതി നല്‍കിയ നേതാവ് .

1978നു മുന്‍പാണ്‌ എ.കെ.എം ദാസയ്യാന്‍ പ്രസിടന്റ്റ്‌ സ്ഥാനം വഹിച്ചിരുന്നത്. അതിനു ശേഷം 4 ഗ്രാമ പഞ്ചായത്തുകളും ഒരു നഗര പഞ്ചായത്തുമായി തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് നടന്നു. മാര്‍ത്താണ്ഡം തുറ ഗ്രാമ പഞ്ചായത്തില്‍ ശ്രീ.വര്‍ഗ്ഗീസ്‌ ആയിരുന്നു പ്രസിടന്റ്റ്‌ ആയി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടത്. മേടവിളാകം പഞ്ചായത്തില്‍ ശ്രീ.നടരാജന്‍ , കൊല്ലങ്കോട്‌ മേക്കെക്കര ഗ്രാമ പഞ്ചായത്തില്‍ ശ്രീ.കുട്ടന്‍ തമ്പി, കിരാത്തൂരില്‍ ശ്രീ.പൊന്നയ്യന്‍ എന്നിവരും കൊല്ലങ്കോട്‌ നഗര പഞ്ചായത്തില്‍ ശ്രീ.കെ.സദാശിവന്‍ പിള്ളയും പ്രസിടന്റുമാരായി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

അതിനു ശേഷം നടന്ന വിവിധ ചര്‍ച്ചകളും കൊല്ലങ്കോട്‌ ഏക പഞ്ചായത്ത് ആക്കുവാനുള്ള പരിശ്രമാങ്ങളുടെയും ഫലമായി 21 വാര്‍ഡുകള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെട്ട ഏക പഞ്ചായത്തായി തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് നടന്നു.ആ തെരഞ്ഞടുപ്പില്‍ സ്വതത്ര സ്ഥാനാര്‍ഥിയായി മത്സരിച്ച ശ്രീ. ബഞ്ചമിന്‍ പ്രസിഡന്റായി തെരഞ്ഞ്ടുക്കപെട്ടു. 21 വാര്‍ഡുകളിലും മത്സരം നടന്നു.

കൊല്ലന്കൊട്ടില്‍ സാഹോദര്യ തുല്യം സമാധാനത്തോടെ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന സമുദായങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഇടയില്‍ മത വികാരം വ്രണപ്പെടുത്തി രണ്ടു വിഭാഗങ്ങളിലെ ചില വ്യക്തികളുടെ വ്യക്തി താല്പര്യങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് വേണ്ടി തുടങ്ങിയ സംഘര്‍ഷം അന്ന് സാധാരണക്കാരെയാണ് മുറിവേല്പ്പിച്ചത്. അതിന്റെ ബാക്കി പത്രമെന്നോണം ഹൃദയ വേദനയുമായി ഒരു കുടുംബം ഇന്നും കൊല്ലന്കൊട്ടില്‍ ജീവിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ശ്രീ.ബാലകൃഷണ പിള്ളയുടെ കുടുംബം. ആളിക്കത്തുന്ന അക്രമത്തിനു, ഒരു സംഘം ചെറുപ്പക്കാരുടെ സംഘടിതമായ പരിശ്രമങ്ങളുടെ ഫലമായി വിരാമം ഉണ്ടായി.

അതിനു ശേഷം കപട മതേതര വാദികളായ ചില പ്രസ്ഥാനങ്ങള്‍ ഈ അക്രമത്തെ വര്‍ഗീയമായി ഉപയോഗിച്ച് പ്രീണന രാഷ്ട്രീയം കളിച്ചു അധികാരത്തില്‍ എത്തി ചേര്‍ന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇന്നും അത്തരക്കാര്‍ ഇതിനു വേണ്ടി ശക്തമായി ശ്രമിച്ചു വരുന്നു.

ശ്രീ. ബഞ്ചമിനു ശേഷം തുടര്‍ച്ചയായ 10 വര്ഷം മാര്‍ക്സിസ്റ്റ്‌ പാര്‍ട്ടി നേതാവ് ശ്രീ.വിജയമോഹനന്‍ പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റായിരുന്നു. അതിനുശേഷമുള്ള തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് വാര്‍ഡ്‌ അംഗങ്ങള്‍ പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റിനെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്ന സമ്പ്രദായം പരീക്ഷിച്ചു. ആ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില്‍ ശ്രീ. വിജയ മോഹനന്‍ 9 ആം വാര്‍ഡില്‍ ബിജെപി സ്ഥാനാര്‍ഥി ശ്രീ.പദ്മ കുമാറിനോട് പരാജയപ്പെടുകയും, തെരഞ്ഞടുക്കപ്പെട്ട വാര്‍ഡ്‌ അംഗങ്ങള്‍ ശ്രീ. സ്റീഫന്‍ പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിടന്റ്റ്‌ ആയി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. പിന്നീട് നടന്ന തീഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില്‍ ഈ സമ്പ്രദായം പിന്‍വലിച്ചു ആ തെരഞ്ഞടുപ്പില്‍ കോണ്ഗ്രസ് സ്ഥാനര്തിയയി മത്സരിച്ച ശ്രീ. അരുളാനന്ദന്‍ പ്രസിടന്റ്റ്‌ ആയി വിജയിച്ചു. ക്രിമിനല്‍ കേസില്‍ ജയില്‍ ശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിച്ച വ്യക്തി എന്നാ ആരോപണം ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേരില്‍ നിലനില്‍ക്കവെയാണ് ഈ വിജയം എന്നതും വളരെ ശ്രദ്ദേയമാണ്.

എല്ലാ ദേശീയ,പ്രാദേശിക പാര്‍ട്ടികള്‍ക്കും വളക്കൂറുള്ള മണ്ണാണ് കൊല്ലങ്കോട്‌ എങ്കിലും, വികസനത്തിന്റെ കാര്യത്തില്‍ ഇന്നും ഈ നാട് വളരെ പിന്നോക്ക അവസ്ഥയിലാണ്.

സമാന പ്രായക്കാരായ കൂട്ടുകാരോടൊപ്പം ചെറുപ്പത്തില്‍ കൊച്ചു തമാശ കാണിച്ചു നടന്ന കണ്ണനാഗം ജഗ്ഷന്‍ (പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് 4 മണി സമയത്ത് ), അവധി ദിവസങ്ങളിലെ പകല്‍ സമയം മുഴുവന്‍ ക്രിക്കറ്റ്‌ കളിച്ചു നടന്ന പന്തടിക്കളം, ഓണം മനസ്സില്‍ ഒരിക്കലും മായാത്ത ഓര്‍മയാക്കി തീര്‍ത്ത പുളിമൂടും, നന്മയുടെയും ,പരദൂഷണത്തിന്റെയും കഥകള്‍ മെനയാന്‍ .... ഓരോ ദിവസവും ഇനിയാരു എന്ന് അന്വേഷിക്കുന്ന നാട്ടിന്‍ പുറത്തിന്റെ തനിമയും...... എല്ലാപേരെയും പോലെ എന്റെ ഗ്രാമം എന്നാ വികാരം ഉള്ളതിനാലാകം എനിക്കും എന്നും അഭിമാനമാണ് കൊല്ലങ്കോട്ടമ്മയുടെ കീര്‍ത്തിയില്‍ വിളങ്ങുന്ന ഈ പുണ്യ നാട്.

Away from the concrete jungle, unclaimed by the steel claws of the rapidly blossoming technology, situated in a niche carved out of nature is the land of Kollemcode.
Marked by the green stretch of land on one side and the great blue sea on the other, Kollemcode paints a picturesque image in the beholder’s eye. The land is riddled with long clear freshwater streams, snaking their way through the terrain to reunite with the mighty ocean. If the landscape wasn’t captivating enough for the human eye, the seascape beyond is bound to do the job. The golden beaches stretch far and wide, speckled with palm trees reaching towards the sky. The palm leaves sway in the gentle ocean breeze beckoning one for a walk along their sandy shades. There aren’t many human souls that haven’t yielded to the mesmerising vista of this piece of paradise. Even fewer have had the heart to turn away from the striking display.

Kollemcode - where nature’s splendour binds the viewer in all its glory.

I was born and brought up here. Growing up, I had some of the most wonderful memories that I will cherish for years to come. The younger days spent exploring the wilderness of the vast expanse of land, tales of broken nails and skinned knees(at pulimoodu and panthadi Kalam) that are souvenirs of the young blood, learning to swim in the stream and then braving the plunge in the mighty ocean, learning to sync with the waves and sing with the wind. The endless pranks with friends, the scrumptious feasts with families, the lazy summer afternoons and boring school work, are some of the things that I recall now with fond remembrance, knowing I will never get those days again. It leaves a longing in my heart, a yearning to go back in time to the age of unadulterated innocence.

Every year, a magnificent fiesta marks the community that reside here.

There are two temples(Mudippura's) –and the lives of the people revolve around them. The whole of kollemcode comes together as one, unified by the deities of the temple. These temples are known for its grand ten day festival –known as Thookam Ulsavam - that brings the land alive with its bright hues. The beginning of this festival is marked by the procession of the Idols from the main temple to the other one. The idols remain in the thooka mudippura for the remainder of the ten days. The days that follow the procession immerse the little community in a myriad of colours. Bringing the folklore alive for ten whole days, the festivities hold both the temples in all their grandeur. Keeping alive the roots of tradition, the occasion unfolds the age old rituals and customs that captivate and transport one back in time. The excitement in the air is extremely contagious and one often finds themselves swaying in rhythm with the energy that surge through. The festival strengthens the bond among the people who come together for this purpose. With numerous activities of fun and laughter, it is impossible not to indulge in them. This is a festival that takes on the young and old alike, rediscovering their lost passion. Taking part in the festivities are also the other religious communities that dwell in the region. Though small in number when compared to the Hindu population, the various communities have struck a perfect balance to co-exist in harmony. Kollemcode also has Churches and Mosques that cater to these communities.

Nothing is perfect, and like everything else Kollemcode also has its flaws.

There are six schools in the locality. Though untouched by the expanding western culture, Kollemcode boasts of its literacy rate which is at 90%(sure this will be a news to u), making it one of the highest in the state. But one cannot rejoice from that bit of information. Shadowing the accomplishment is the sorry fact that despite all the education, the people have their heads wrapped in an era that is decades old or maybe even further back in time. Narrow-minded is a term that best befits the population of Kollemcode and they take it to a whole new level. So deeply set are they in their ways and thoughts, that the new ideologies don’t stand a chance. They’ve barricaded themselves behind an impregnable wall of defiance. The mere mention of a broad minded approach is shunned as soon as it emerges. When the world is galloping across on new shores of intelligence, this community seems to be frozen in time, refusing to let the winds of change into their midst. It would do the people and its community a great deal of good to open their minds and embrace the reality of the world beyond. Discarding that which in incomprehensible to their primitive thoughts seems to be the norm of the people. I really wish people would someday break free of their conservative shell and open their minds and adopt a broad minded approach. It will definitely be beneficial to the coming generations.

Another flaw that haunts this land is the influence of political parties. The power play has plagued the minds of the young, kindling the fire in them. Friends get caught up in this cross fire and are driven apart by the differences in their choice. Childhood friends take it personally and split solely because of this. It leads to the formation of various groups favouring the respective political parties.

Young boys who have been friends for long years now pass each other without a glance or a word. And small outbreaks happen every now and then that disrupts the peace and quiet of the community. It drives the once-friends even further apart, replacing their minds with rage and vengeance. All the wonderful memories they once shared are quickly forgotten and replaced by hatred and cold fury. I am not against the political parties, but one should always know where to draw the line. Political indulgence mustn’t interfere with one’s personal life. We should learn to keep them separate, and that alone will prove beneficial for everybody. At the end of the day, we are all equal beings of flesh, blood and bone!

With all that said, I would like to conclude with a simple truth. No matter how many flaws it has, I will always be fond of my home town and its people. I love Kollemcode with all its imperfections and there is not another place that I would prefer to be born into. .Ajeesh Shankar Nair

Seva Bharathi opened a computer center in Kollemcode,named Vyasa vidhya kendram (Team computer center) on 01.06.2012.. Seva bharathi state president Sri.Parameswarji inaugurated the function. This center is still functioning on the old Team center building( Kalluvettan kuzhi, near to Kollemcode police station).
Now they are going to start a 3 month free course for 30 students, under a central Govt. scheme. They formed a new trust for this organization in the leadership of Mr.Manikandan Nair. Lot of sponsors also came forward to support this scheme.

Tamilnadu Government had announced that they are going to conduct exams for direct recruitment of Teachers to the vacancies for the year 2011. VACOVIDS (Vallavilai Coastal Village Development Society) came forward to offer coaching classes for the B.Sc. B.Ed graduates to prepare them well to take up TN TRB (Teachers Recruitment Board) exams.

The program was inaugurated by Vallavilai Parish Priest Fr. Fredy Solomon on 6-Nov-2011 along with VACOVIDS Vallavilai Region Office bearers. Classes will continue in the next 9 weeks (on Sundays).
