I was just browsing around YouTube and came across this new Dirt Devil Kone Video. It appears to be a new TV Commercial but I don't remember seeing it on TV.

Dirt Devil is probably creating it's own videos and uploading them by themselves. Or maybe they have a cool advertising agency that takes care of this kind of stuff. But regardless, it's a good commercial.

Here's a video comparison of the Dirt Devil Kone, the Black & Decker Pivot and the Dyson Root 6.

The Kone is the cheapest vacuum of the three (by a lot) and it also performs the worst in these tests. But these tests really are dumb if you ask me. First they use these three handheld vacuums to pick up a big pile of flour. I don't think I'd try and use a regular vacuum cleaner if I dropped half a bag of flour on the floor. Seriously, we're definitely in Wet/Dry Vac territory here. But most likely, if you're like me, you'd pick up that pile of flour with a dust pan. A handheld vacuum isn't supposed to do this sort of thing. And the test proves it because even the two more expensive vacuums have to be emptied several times before the flour is gone.

Then the test gets even worse. They try to pick up wet kitty litter. Yuck! Who's going to use a vacuum cleaner to pick up wet kitty litter? That's disgusting.

Here's my review. The Dirt Devil Kone costs $40 and looks good sitting in a corner in your home. If you drop some crumbs or want to clean underneath your kid's chairs after dinner, then it's the perfect vacuum for the job. Light, powerful, good looking and cheap. No flour required for my review.

Dirt Devil hired world famous product designer Karim Rashid to create a hand held vacuum that looks more like a piece of art than a household appliance.

In this video he talks about Dirt Devil and how he was given the freedom to break the mold and create something really innovative when he designed the Dirt Devil Kone.

When I was looking for a hand held vacuum for the house, one of the most important criteria was how well it picked up large crumbs. I have two crumb crushing kids and after each meal it looks like a bomb went off underneath their chairs. We've tried a few Dust Busters but their average lifespan was pretty short.

So when I got my Dirt Devil Kone I put it to the test. Could the Kone handle breakfast in my house? Watch the video and find out.

Kone Filters

Like most other vacuums, the Dirt Devil Kone has replaceable filters. And if you're like me, you'll want to stock up on a few of these filters in case your Kone lasts for years. Maybe years from now, they'll have space age magnetic vacuums with no filters or something very Jetson-like. The stores won't have your plain old filters anymore. And even if you take great care of your vacuum and empty it after every use, at some point you will still have to replace the filter.

Now if you read some of the Amazon reviews, you may hear people complaining about how quickly these filters get dirty. Yes, that's true they do get dirty quickly but they still work fine even though they change to a dirty colored gray instead of the pure white that you see in this picture. The Kone has enough suction that a gray filter really doesn't slow it down at all.

The folks at ExpoTV have posted a nice demonstration of the Dirt Devil Kone. I like the part where she vacuums up the M&Ms. It's a powerful little vacuum. Nice demo.
