Hi folks,

A Paean To Wilson the new Durutti Column album will be available to buy online before Monday 2nd November. We will release a limited number of copies only and these will be despatched on Monday 9th November.

This piece of work was commissioned originally for the Manchester International Festival of Music July 2009. It is a two-disc set as it also incorporates the F4 release 'Heaven Sent' which was previously only available in a download only format.

It will be available for general release in February 2010, both in stores and digitally, but we will release a limited amount before this date on the official Durutti Column site and here at Kooky.

Good morning!

'Since we started posting the boxed sets early in August, one or two have taken as long as eight weeks to deliver!

Some are taking two or three weeks in the Uk alone as sporadically different postal depots and members of the postal service take official or unofficial action. It can be that some will go on for a few weeks before reaching their destination and yet other parcels arrive the next day!!!

We have a series of postal strikes planned over the next few weeks, and I am certain the odd package may be delayed.

In a nutshell - We appreciate your patience and would ask you to give a little extra time when ordering.

The Durutti Column – Four Factory Records

The initial run has been sold. Unfortunately we have a few less than anticipated.

More copies will be available in the next ten days and we will start posting these the end of week commencing 19/10/09.

If you are one of the handful that has not been posted you will receive and email from me directly.

These will be identical in every way to the first run, i.e. six discs, art and inserts etc, but the envelope will not be hand numbered. I trust this is acceptable but should you have any queries relating to this or any other matter please contact me by email at philcleaver@btinternet.com

The Durutti Column - A Paean To Wilson

Many many thanks to all those people who bought a copy of this release on pre-sale at the Durutti show in London 09/10/09. Special thanks from Vini to those who travelled some considerable distance - Melbourne, Dunedin, Cape Town, Detroit, France, Spain, Leyton, Chiswick and Cheslyn Hay amongst others to be there!

We will be releasing this album at the end of January or early February 2010 through all good online and traditional stores. In the meantime I will be selling these on the Kooky site only early November. Please watch the website for more information as it is available.

Kings Place October 7th to October 10th

Hi folks...

Just a quick reminder that there are still tickets available for John Metcalfe's series of shows this week coming at Kings Place, London.

John has curated the 'Beyond the Loop' series of shows providing a great mix of musical flavours. There is a great opportunity for you to listen to all kinds of music you would perhaps not normally see on the same bill.

Kings Place has made the shows very very affordable. You can still buy saver seats at £6.50 per show from their website. Please remember that John will be playing twice on Friday. Firstly he will form part of the Duke String Quartet at 7.00pm and then join Vini et al for the London premiere of 'Paean to Wilson' at 9.00pm. If you are coming to the Durutti show - please make the effort to see the String Quartet before hand. It is a great deal and I cannot remember the last time we had the opportunity to see Durutti in such a well-suited line up for under £15.00 in London!

A Paean To Wilson: The Album

Kooky Records is proud to announce the next album release by The Durutti Column will be the studio version of A Paean To Wilson which was premiered live at the Manchester International Festival in July 2009. This stunning instrumental suite was specially commissioned for the MIF and represents Vini Reilly's special personal tribute to Tony Wilson who died in August 2007.

As with the live line-up featured during those shows, The Durutti Column is again augmented by John Metcalfe and Tim Kellett on this full-length studio album.

This CD-only release will first go on sale at the King's Place concert on 9 October 2009 at which the band will again be playing A Paean To Wilson live. A general release will follow but the date for this has not yet been confirmed. Watch this space for more information. Tickets are still available for this gig via kingsplace.co.uk (including Saver Seats for a bargain £9.50).

The album package will include a bonus disc featuring the Heaven Sent (It Was Called Digital. It Was Heaven Sent) mini-album previously available as a digital download via Tony Wilson's F4 Records.

Congratulations to NORTHANTS STEELBACKS

A huge Kooky well done to Northants STEELBACKS (the county cricket side) who managed to make the finals day at Edgbaston on Saturday August 15th 2009.

A nail-biting quarter-final against the Hampshire Hawks was finally settled in the last over by some superb bowling by Andrew Hall.

KOOKY are proud to sponsor NIALL O'BRIEN who had a fabulous 20/200 World Cup with Ireland behind the stumps, including Man of the Match against Bangladesh.It was great to see him back from an injury he picked up in that game - scoring 28, taking a great stumping and a catch which helped turn the match.

Thanks very much to all those who have registered their interest in buying the Durutti Column boxed set.

We have been literally inundated with mail so please accept my 'generic' post which I hope may answer a few questions:

Firstly - don't worry if you did not get to the shows - we have kept back enough to sell mailorder.

They will be £35.00 each, plus £2.50 P&P regardless of where you live. This package is worth the money! We have two great bonus discs and some cool interviews as well as the original art for each album. It has nine card inserts and the box is a really good size - 190mm square and 60mm deep. All the discs are in an envelope and the envelopes have print and are hand numbered. There are 1175 total.

ALL 1175 HAVE ALL SIX DISCS.

Secondly - IF they 'appear' on Ebay from others please DONT buy them!! We will do so soon enough!!! Incidentally, we will charge the same worldwide regardless of P&P!

Thirdly - Sub-Group people will get priority and the lower numbers hopefully will be saved for you too.

We will sell via mail order prior to release and soon enough hopefully to keep all happy !

I hope this answers a few queries. Do feel free to mail me if you need to know anything else.

BUT please don't ask me to save you one!! I just can't do that.... and as the boxes are shrinkwrapped we cannot supply specific numbers...

We are very pleased to annouce that our next project is a six CD limited edition box set celebrating the first four albums by The Durutti Column.

Entitled Four Factory Records, the set comprises:

Four fully remastered albums

1. The Return Of The Durutti Column
2. LC
3. Another Setting
4. Without Mercy

Plus two very limited bonus CDs

5. Demos/Studio - demos, versions and outtakes from the period
6. Live - recordings from London, Glasgow, and Brighton 82/84

All this plus a package of interviews with the key protagonists from the period including Vini Reilly, Bruce Mitchell, John Metcalfe, Keir Stewart and Tim Kellett.

Advance copies will be available for sale at the Manchester International Festival shows 15-17 July 2009. It will then be available in all good record shops (actual and virtual) and direct from Kooky from September 2009. The project will be a total edition of 1,000 copies of which a limited number will include the two bonus discs.

We've tried to make this lavish package available at a sensible price. If you can't make the MIF shows, please check back at the end of July when we will start taking pre-orders for mail order through Kooky.

Durutti Column Boxed Set - Latest News....

Hello,

Whilst everyone is enjoying the new Durutti Column album 'Love in The Recession' we are busy curating and arranging the re-release of the first four albums.

Our initial thoughts are as follows :-

Four incredibly well re-mastered albums, all under the guise of Keir Stewart, which will be issued in original formats and running orders ( no bonus tracks)

One disc of demo's mainly from the LC period and prior. Some are studio quality/studio out-takes, some four track and some home recordings. We may also add the 'other' Return of.. track and Mavuchka.

One disc of live material, mainly from 1984/1985, when the 'Without Mercy' Brass section and John Metcalfe toured, prior to the trip to Japan.

We will have a great art package too. It will be in a box ( surely) and we hope to include some frame-friendly prints too.

It will retail at a very competitive price, which we hope to be around £30..... released in the Summer
