Yong Wook Jun, Ph.D. is Dean of Solbridge School of Business at Woosung University in Daejeon, Korea, as well as Director and Advisor to many Korean corporations.

Korea has been on a roll lately, and the Hallyu phenomenon that’s swept Asia, and is now making an impact in the West too, is a visible and powerful symbol of this success. In many ways, Korea has thrived on niche strategies, and no other educational institution in Korea more exemplifies both a niche strategy and efforts to maximize the benefits of Hallyu than Woosung University and Solbridge International School of Business.

Yong Wook Jun, also known as Woody Jun, is the Vice President of Woosung University and Dean of SolBridge International School of Business in Daejeon, Korea. Dean Jun earned his bachelor’s degree at Seoul National University, his master’s at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in Illinois, and a Ph.D. from the Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT.

He was on the faculty of Chung-Ang University in Seoul for 22 years before taking his current position as Dean of SolBridge last year in 2010. Dean Jun has also served on the board of directors for many leading Korean multinational companies, including Hynix, Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motors, and SK Telecom.

In this interview, Dean Jun shares valuable insights about business and education strategy in Korea from the perspective of Solbridge.

Peter Bartholomew is Vice President of IRC, Ltd. in Seoul, and supporter of efforts to preserve Korean hanok and other historical assets.

There are few people more qualified to discuss the Korean economic miracle than Peter Bartholomew. Having arrived as a Peace Corps volunteer, he has remained in Korea almost continuously since 1968. Peter worked in a Korean company for almost a decade in the 1970s, and for the last 28 years, he has run IRC, Ltd. in Seoul, specializing in the shipbuilding and construction sectors.

In this interview, Peter shares deep insights about Korean business, including techniques for negotiating with Koreans, as well as about efforts to preserve traditional hanok homes, an area on which he is particularly passionate. He believes that a modern Korea should be compatible with maintaining the natural and historical assets of the past.
