Weekend Update 7/12/10

Friday: Nothing. It was awesome.

Saturday: Worked on Das e28's electrical gremlins, then went to the OC to check out El Devon's new place, and goto his and Shanananana's 5-year reunion at Dave & Busters. El Devon and I had a Fast and Furious challenge, I won 4 times over his 2. We also found a hilariously awesome nascar game with LIVE ACTION REMOTE CONTROL CARS. It is awesome, but never back Shananana in a race. In the second race, she finished with 3 laps, compared to around 20 by Shelbs, El Devon, and I. Shelbs took first in every race and I managed to snag second both times. Good stuff.

Sunday: I went to Stone to grab a bottle of 07/07/07 Vertical Epic. They have this new deal on Sundays where they do rare bottle releases. It is pretty sweet. 1 per person sucks, but whatever. I saw Greg Koch, CEO of Stone, and talked to him about the new Stone skateboards. They are made by Gravity, another local company. Sweet! After that, Shelbs and I went up to The Parents to hit up Tip Top Meats for some fine German dining. Yum!

Weekend Update 7/6/10

The weekend this weekend was a 3-day-weekend which was a nice long weekend and I really enjoyed the weekend.

Friday: Mrs. Bauer and Ms.Benediction stopped by the new place, where we enjoyed a clinical analysis of the Disney Channel. Blatant racism is funny, kids.

Saturday: The Lovely Shelbs had work, so I experimented with the coin car wash across the street. Interesting, this strange machine be. Then, I went to the SDMC Gearhead Rendezvous at Foster's Freeze. Good times with the SCS crew, and I saw a fox with 10.5" wide rear meats on it... WANT. After that, Shelbs and I went up to The Parents for some foods and whatnot. I scored some XBOX games from The Brother, w00t.

Sunday: Shelbs worked again (bringing home the bacon), and I acted domestic and picked up stuff from Home Depot to stain one of our cabinets to match the rest of the furniture. After that, we went to the OC for the 4th, we wined and dined with El Devon and Shanananana, and saw some sweet fireworks.

Monday: Shelbs worked even more, and I went up to The Parents to work on Das e28. We think it is fixed, and it hasnt done its entertaining no start deal, so yay. Cryptic Father and I also installed a new o2 sensor on his e28. After that, I dined with the talented Mr. Steroids at Chipotle, where we came up with the Commandments of Chipotle, which will eventually be a blog post. Good times.

Weekend Update 6/28/10

Friday: Hit up WineSteals with Mrs. Bauer, Ms.Benediction, and Reggae Fool. Had some good beer and good times, discussing the adventures of life. After that, Shelbs got off work so we hung out and attempted to build our new IKEA bookshelf.

Saturday: Shelby and I, along with Midnight, Marky Mark, and Mr. Grover; went to the San Diego Fair's beer festival. We scored free unlimited tasters and some cool glasses. Unlimited tasters was a bad choice. When you dont have to limit your choices to 10, and there are over 100 breweries with at least 3 different beers each, it gets out of hand fast. Shelby and I also checked out the garden exhibit, woodworking, gems, collections, piggies, bunnahs, other animals, and the student exhibitions. We also watched the piggie races. Hilarious. After that, we went home and did nothing, because lots of beer + sun = epic headaches. Ugh.

Sunday: Went to the Townhome and patched holes and painted it up. We also did a bit of cleaning, and The Parents came down to grab more stuff. Can't wait to be done with that place. After that we went to the OC for typical OC mayhems with El Devon and Shanananana. Good times.

I'm tired.

Me, surprise surprise a 50 year old "Born Againer" likes some of Slayers stuff and my 28 year old son Micah listens to them. I also think God is particularly fond of each of the band members as he is you. As far as your salvation or lack there of, I feel & think, if "God" gives you free will to reject it or except it, I will afford you the same freedom. I will give you fair warning that at least one atheist converted to an agnostic and then to a Bible toting Christian (not Churchian) largely in part to our deep and abiding friendship. So if you want to avoid any possibility of catching a few seeds of faith and or interest in the prospect that there my be a God and saviour that loves you more that you could ever imagine, I suggest you give your pool to # 1,2,3,4 or 5.

Me, I have many friends and clients that have no interest in God or even talking about the possibility of "God's possible existence", so out of respect for them and their beliefs I don't ever share my deep and abiding faith and relationship with my savior/friend. Just like if a friend does not enjoy sports or music I don't share with them my feelings or thoughts on those things, again out of respect and love for them and their thoughts and feelings.

Weekend Update 6/23/10

Yes, this has taken a while to get posted. We moved over the weekend, and are still in the unpacking process. I'm also selling some old furniture and whatnot on Craigslist, and that takes forever. Too much stuff going on, and not enough time in the day.

Friday: Went to my high school buddy's 25th bday bash. Was a lot of fun, and I saw a bunch of people that I haven't seen for like 4 years. Things change and stay exactly the same. It is quite funny. After that, Shelbs and I packed for the move, more.

Saturday: Big move day. Rented a UHAUL, picked up a sweet new couch that El Devon and I had to take down SIX floors of stairs... FML. Moving sucks, it takes forever. You know how it goes. Finished off the day with dinner at San Diego Brewing Co, which is mere blocks from the new place (WIN!). Celebrated early bday with El Devon, Shananananana, and the Shelbs. Yay.

Sunday: More unpacking! "Yay." Went up to The Parents for bday dinner. Had steaks. Win! Cue more unpacking/passing out.

And that was the weekend.

Weekend Update 6/14/10

Friday: Went on an adventure. Left work early at 2pm after some "fun" meetings, to pick up the keys to the new place. Dropped off the ever-popular first-month's rent in money order form at the leasing place, then called the new landlords to get the keys. Except they were not home. No matter, I headed to the Townhome to chill for a bit. Left the windows of Das e28 down as I knew I would be going out again, quite soon. Got a call back from the Landlords at 4, who said come get the keys! Score. So I hopped in Das e28 and, nothing. No lights, no sounds, no vroom-vroom. ZILCH. WTF. So I check the voltage (12.5), all the fuses, all good. Hrm. I fuss with it for 10-15 more minutes. I figure at this point, I've got no choice but to push it in the garage (due to the windows being down), deal with it later, and take The Ghost to the new place. So I get in it to start pushing, and realize the steering wheel had locked. I put the key in the ignition and turn, LIGHTS CAMERA ACTION. WTF, over. I roll the windows up and shut it down, not wanting to play this game for a second time at the new place. I then jump in The Ghost and head over to the new apartment to get the keys. Of course, I am WAY behind schedule and must return as soon as I get the keys. So much for going through the movein checklist and being productive! By now it is around 5 and The Lovely Shelby has just arrived home. We get ready and head off to Shoeassembler/Navyboy's rehearsal dinner at Tom Ham's Lighthouse by the airport. It was a good time with awesome views, good food, and a good bar. Win! I befriended a fellow beer advocate from Wisconsin, and we talked beer for much of the night.

Saturday: Shelby and I began painting the hanging boxes for the new place. She chose a matte olive green that looks real good. After that, we got ready for the Shoeassembler/Navyboy wedding, which took place at Founder's Chappel. That was entertaining, as it included a full Catholic Mass. Stand up, sit down, fight-fight-fight GO JESUS! A certain long-time fan of the blog was in attendance, but sat at the back and didn't speak with anyone. I made an effort to say hi on the way in, because I'm such a nice person, haha. No response. I guess winning people over with sarcasm, vinegar, and beer has worked well for me, while that whole honey effort didn't bode well for that fan of the blog. Oh well. After the wedding, we hung out with Miss Minnow and a few old USD pals, then headed to the reception at The Thursday Club, in the hills of Point Loma looking out over the Pacific Ocean. Shelby and I were seated at Table 9, in the back corner, where Mr. Leaf and I made fun of people and discussed our lowly Table 9 status. We were fed last and not caked, FML. Shelby and I bailed to the car to enjoy some beer with the fellow advocate, Marty, mentioned in the Friday section. I brought out some 2009 Double Bastard and Siason du B.U.F.F. for him to try. Good beer is great, as they say, and we had a lively discussion while enjoying the brews. Eventually we went back inside to continue with the celebration. It was lots of fun, and both Navyboy and Shoeassembler's parents are hilarious dancers.

Sidenote: Shoeassembler is no longer Ms. Shoeassembler, so she needs a new name. Or does she? Jury is still out.

Sunday: Shelby worked till 1, so I picked up a hydroboost (hydraulic-assist braking) setup for The Ghost for free from a fellow SCS member. Score. I then packed The Ghost and took it up to The Parents, putting it in "Seahaus-Store" for a while, as the new apartment only has 1 uncovered parking space, which is unsuitable for The Ghost. Sad day. After she got off work, Shelby came and picked me up. We went back to the Townhome to continue the moving adventure, taking a few loads of boxes to the new apartment. We then finished up the night with some more painting on the hanging boxes. Good times.
