Questo è il mio primo tutorial! Se non capite bene alcuni passaggi contattatemi pure e non dimenticate di postare il vostro abito finito!

Avrai bisogno di:
1 canottiera

Tessuto che ti avvolge 1.5 volte (l'altezza del tessuto Marimekko è di 140cm che ho usato per la lunghezza della gonna)

Macchina di cucire
Filo abbinato
Gesso
Penna
Spilli
Elastico alto 1cm

Ferro da stiro

Prima prendi una canottiera. Puoi usare una che già ce hai o puoi comprarne una che si abbini con la stoffa della gonna. Consiglio una canottiera di cotone e non troppo elasticizzata perché la pesantezza della stoffa la può tirare un po' giù.

Indossa la canottiera e con uno spillo segna dove vuoi attaccare la stoffa. Stai attenta quando la togli!

Con il gesso segna una riga 2cm sotto dove hai spillato la canottiera poi taglia.

Prendi il tessuto e misura 1.5 volte intorno del tuo corpo. Taglia il resto se è troppo grande.

Piega la stoffa dritto su dritto.

Cuci i lati con la riga a 2-3mm poi ripassi con lo zigzag.

Ora devi tagliare dove vuoi iniziare la gonna e considerare 2cm per l'orlo (L'elastico andrà dentro questo orlo.) Io avevo la cimosa da tagliare, forse tu non devi tagliare niente...dipende dove vuoi iniziare la parte della gonna. Ma consiglio di tagliare via la cimosa perché di solito quando lavi l'abito la parte della cimosa si stringe diversamente al resto del tessuto.

Stira questo lato primo ,5cm poi 1,5cm. Cuci intorno e lascia un'apertura di 3cm per l'elastico.

Ora devi infilare l'elastico dentro l'orlo che hai appena creato. (Per capire di quanto elastico hai bisogno misura dove volevi attaccare la stoffa. Questa misura è la misura dell'elastico.)

Ho attaccato l'elastico ad un pennello con lo scotch per aiutarmi a infilalo dentro l'orlo.

Quando hai infilato quasi tutto l'elastico puoi cucirlo al tessuto. Quando hai finito di infilare l'elastico puoi regolarlo più stretto se vuoi. Dopo cuci anche l'altro lato dell'elastico.

Distribuire uniformemente il tessuto.

Ora devi inserire la canottiera dentro la gonna. Spilla la canottiera alla gonna e piega sopra l'orlo con elastico. (Consiglio di spillare i lati esterni prima e poi il resto.)

Cuce la canottiera alla gonna.

Hai quasi finito!

Ora decidi l'orlo per il fondo della gonna. Io ho lasciato la gonna lunga ma puoi anche tagliare per fare un abito corto! Misura dal fondo della gonna. Considera 2cm per l'orlo. Per esempio il mio orlo doveva finire a 43cm dal fondo e quindi ho tagliato 41cm. Stira una piega di un 1cm e poi un'altra piega sempre di 1cm. Cuci intorno.

Con la rimanenza fai la cintura. Tagli 16cm di altezza. Taglia via il lato cucito. Apri la striscia e piega dritto su dritto sul lato lungo. Cuci uno dei due lati corti e il lato lungo. Gira la cintura e cuci l'ultimo lato. Stira bene.

Hai finito!

Marimekko Panels

Hi everyone! It has been a little while since I've wrote last. I have been extremely busy. I just want to post some pictures of these Marimekko panels we made for our new house. They are very much adored by our Facebook fans too. And here comes the plug: we custom make these panels for a lot of people!

The maximum width is 130cm since the fabric/print reaches to 140cm and we need a little extra to wrap around the wood frame, then you choose the height! The wood frames are made by my father-in-law, ex carpenter, who is also a jack of all trades like me. We have made these panels and have couriered them across Italy, they have found their way into restaurants, offices and homes. I'm not too sure if other people provide this special service, but I'm pretty sure they don't!

Spread the word of these beautiful and rather inexpensive pieces of art to have or give as a gift!

Terracotta del Salento artigianalmente imperfetta

I piatti sono realizzati da piccoli produttori della zona del Salento, secondo la rinomata tradizione di lavorazione della terracotta di quel territorio. La presenza di eventuali imperfezioni ne conferma l'artigianalità.

Tommaso e Stefano li lavorano uno ad uno

Il processo di smaltatura e l'applicazione del decoro sono realizzati manualmente, su ogni singolo piatto, da esperti artigiani di Grottaglie (TA).

Design ZUP a tiratura limitata

Serie di piatti originali disegnati da ZUP, in basse tirature e altissima qualità.

Due serie da quattro piatti ideati per mangiare. Abbiamo testato personalmente l'effetto benefico del design con crostata di mele fatta in casa (tempo di consumo: 12h). Per eventuali utilizzi impropri dei piatti, come l'esposizione a parete, non ci riteniamo responsabili e disconosciamo i danni morali che ne potrebbero derivare. Si sconsigliano lavaggi frequenti in lavastoviglie poiché a lungo andare il colore potrebbe perdere intensità (oppure è proprio questo il bello di un oggetto artigianale?).

It has been over a week since we got back from London. We enjoyed ourselves immensely with ourselves and our friends. We stayed in Notting Hill and for the first time we went to the Portbello Market...

All the houses in Notting Hill reminded me of DC!

...where I bought a lovely vintage silk Japanese clutch, we then rented bikes and biked through Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. I would recommend this to everyone! Even though I had let's just say "issues" with the bike and the direction of traffic...it really was a lovely ride! The weather was perfect and we really peddled far!

We even enjoyed one of my favorite things in the world..Dim Sum! We brought our friends who had never tried it before. The overall consensus was positive so I hope we return.

We wanted to do Westminster Abbey but can you believe it costs £16.50 to get in?! We were quite in shock...probably because in Italy you don't normally have to pay to visit a basilica. So we went to the Tate Modern instead and saw the Munch exhibition.

We went to the Carnaby area a few times and the Imperial War museum, which we both really enjoyed!

We also got a chance to check out Marimekko's London store! All in all we had a great time even though the weather was hit or miss everyday...but what can you expect from London?

Good evening everyone! I'm happy to tell you that we are taking a short break for our anniversary and going back to one of the best cities in the world! Don't worry...we won't be closed! My trusty father-in-law will be holding down the fort for us. He is the best! I, personally, cannot wait to leave. Though, I love my clients dearly, we really need a vacation! These past few months have been, FORTUNATELY, busy for us and we appreciate everything that has been given to us...including this opportunity to enjoy ourselves amongst friends in London. This week has been very busy for us. Not only did I have to get done 80 mini tote bags and 80 zippered pouches...but I also had to prepare myself to give two speeches at the Entrepreneurship Methodology Mediterranean Assistance - SVILUPPUMBRIA SpA fair.

I am not a public speaker...I actually try to avoid it at all costs, but my husband helped me to write a speech to deliver to other female entrepreneurs who specialize in ecological products in Spain, Portugal and Greece. I am very lucky that it was in English until I found out I ALSO had to give the same speech in Italian. I can't tell you which one went better, but I can tell you that I survived!! I think they both went rather well...maybe the Italian speech more because more people listened and (hopefully) understood. I will save you the video and just leave you with some pictures ;)

P.S. I was also on the RAI 3 news for that day (skip to minute 10:40).

AND NO MECHANICAL BREAKDOWNS! Thank you Pfaff!

This was the largest order I've ever received and I finished in time! I made 80 zippered pouches and 80 mini shopping bags for an association of Female Entrepreneurs who also invited me to speak at their video conference with 3 other countries. I was just thinking today how I never thought in all my years of living that sewing would be my passion in life. Not just sewing though, handling such beautiful fabrics. It has become a hobby that has grown bigger than I could have ever imagined. My recent orders have proved just this and even though I feel way in over my head right now, I am content. Sewing gives me possibly more gratification than graphic design has ever given me. Don't get me wrong, my roots are in graphic design. I mean, I grew up in a print shop, for crying out loud, but...sewing and making, using and reusing, custom-made precious one-of-a-kind items made with my very own hands out of a flat piece of fabric...now that is creation in and of itself! I love it. And I don't think I could ever go back.

It seems like we recently have been on the go go go. Last weekend not only did we participate in the Mezzanotte Bianca (White Night Out), but we also had our stand at the Vintage festival right in our district. With Marimekko and Iittala historical remakes it only seemed right to share our beautiful products with others to appreciate. We also had old-time wooden toys for kids.

We have been working very hard lately to get the word out about our store, especially with the threat of closing. Hopefully that won't be the case for us as we have seen how impactful our district can be for the whole city of Perugia. There are many new stores opening along our street where, for years, these spaces were closed bringing a silence to the area. But with our third Mezzanotte Bianca and much buzz of this reviving district we have many hopes for the future.

Good afternoon, or morning, or evening to you! My quest to infuse Marimekko into people's lives has taken one more step for human kind! I have become an Etsy seller.

Honestly, I don't know why I didn't sell before on Etsy. Maybe I didn't have enough courage to actually sell my stuff to such an open environment, but now that I have made countless curtains, pillows cases, tableclothes (and the list goes on) I have found some confidence in making one-of-kind handmade purse and other nicknacks.

Right now, I have a few items up. And ironically, just as I began to make more items to sell I get a ton of orders at the store. Good news for all! Of course, I can also takes orders and custom-make these bags and other stuff with any of our fabrics. Just send me an email (info@koti.it) and it can be done! Thank for looking!

Hi everyone and happy Sunday! I have recently started a "photo blog" on our Facebook page. It has been a little success to me. It started one day when I was searching for vintage Marimekko style dresses and happened to find real stylings of people's homes with Marimekko fabrics. I LOVE their fabrics. And I love people who love their fabrics, so I started this album to show how normal people styled their homes, big and small.
