My wife and I are living in the region for over ten years. We have been to many great places and are addicted to Thai food. We have been enjoying a week holidays at Koh Yao Bay Pavillon recently. With two young children and grand-parents from France. Our stay was absolutely delightful and we cannot wait to get back there! The site is set in an amazing landscape with a 'private' beach with a view on the spectacular scenery that the pan Nga Bay offers. The restaurant is probably one of the best we have experienced in Thailand with fresh seafood cooked by extraordinary talented and friendly cooks who are always keen in sharing some of their secrets with their guests. The villas are built and decorated with a simple but very delicate taste. Staff is discreet and serviceable and Georges, the owner, is so knowledgeable about Thailand and the region that it is a real pleasure to listen to his stories on sunset while enjoying a drink by the poolside. Thailand as we love it.

My husband and I stayed at the Pavilions for 5 days and enjoyed it thoroughly. The accommodation was lovely - beautifully hand-crafted rooms of wood with a lovely relaxing day area (sala) set next to the pool and only steps away from a private beach. There was plenty to do - relaxing by the pool, walking and swimming at the beach, or exploring the island on motor bikes (highly recommended). George (the owner) would recommend dishes from the menu in the restaurant each evening and we enjoyed our lovely leisurely breakfasts in our sala each morning. Koh Yao is a quiet, friendly and laid back island which gave us a taste of the true Thailand. Wonderful!

DRAGONS AND LEGENDS

The unique configuration of Phang Nga Bay is said to have been created long ago when a mythical Dragon, the Naga, rushed from West to East to marry the Princess of Krabi. During his rush to get to the Princess’s palace he split and broke rocks and islands, scattering them everywhere. Koh Yao Noi the tale tells us, was joined to Koh Yao Yai and the Naga tore through separating them forever. The little islands are all named in Malay dialect according to this wonderful epic.

CLIMATE

Located on 8th north parallel, where monsoon winds blow from the West (June to September), then suddenly reverse to the East (October till May), Koh Yao Noi benefits a typical wet tropical climate, as described by geographers: Constant temperatures (Max. 30 Cº to 33 Cº; Min. 20 Cº to 23 Cº, a rainy season (West winds) and a dry season (East winds) with short intermediate seasons. The effects of rains and winds are considerably reduced here by the presence of the Island of Phuket and the Malay Peninsula that protect the island on both sides, reducing rain falls and wind strength.
