As more people have moved to electronic billing and bill-paying, we've moved to keeping receipts electronically. Electronic receipts requires less physical space to store, meaning offices, closets, and drawers are free for other uses (and hopefully less cluttered). However, even if you keep electronic receipts, you must organize them, or you'll have a mess of files somewhere on your computer, and might not be able to access a needed receipt if and when you need it.
