Reflekt.

2011-07-27T12:04:00.000-07:00

I tend to take my camera out with no preconceptions of what I will shoot more than often, this is one of my true loves for photography, never knowing. This time I decided to keep the idea of 'reflections' in the back of my head, just as a subject to perhaps look out for.

Here be thy results;

You may recognize this one, rather abstract image that inspired me to look for more reflections.

Took this a while back whilst trippin' balls at Roadburn festival, thought it was appropriate.

Party., a photo by Adam Reid1 on Flickr.

You may recall the recent Stokes Croft disruptions. About a month ago a impromptu free party began next door to Telepathic Heights and out into the street, directly opposite that fateful Tesco Express. I arrived about 2am and it carried on for a number of hours either side. Police decided to close the street (a main road into Bristol, a Red Route too, surprising) and allowed it to carry on as it were.

A&S Police seemed to have got it right this time.

My favorite party-goers were these two, weaving in & out of peoples legs all night, playing, fighting, generally being free.

Kicked off again last night. Much of the same as last time, yet shamefully unprovoked this time.

Spiralled beyond Stokes Croft into the Bear Pit and Cabot's Circus apparently. Might be getting these printed in This Is Bristol, shall wait & see.

Managed to get about 15mins shooting before I near enough broke my foot. Hyped to come back with some proper kit and longer to make use of all the angles.

Mild, mild West...

I told ye, what did I say!

Royally kicked off last night, my local streets became a full-scale riot. Been through this too many times, check the news for figures and such but they basically tried & failed to evict Telepathic Heights squat, Tesco got fucked over.

Sit down & sing, peaceful times earlier on.

Chopper sat above my house for nearly 12 hours...

Too badass for human words.

My high street.

Basically, an incredibly interesting place. Very culturally/art motivated, liberal, lots of squats/communes, graffiti is encouraged (about 3 Banksy's within 3 mins), lots of live music.

I was meant to do an 'environmental portraiture' project so I wandered up & down here for about 5 hours, stopped people and shot things I saw.
First time shooting on 120.

Colour: Provia 100 shot on Mamiya 645. B&W: XP2 on Mamiya 7ii.

Idle Hands record store to the left.

Will be spending a lot more time down there shooting, this was a warm-up more than anything.

Fallen in love with this guy since watching Dead Man. I always liked Harvest but didn't know about his darker stuff.

Dead Man Soundtrack and the 'doom' trilogy are fucking spot on.

New album is blowing me away as we speak.

First finished tune from a guy I 'know', I was damn impressed.

Coffinworm, for fans of Cough & Ramesses and any sort of misanthropic-blackened-doom-death, or something. When All Becomes None is the awesome debut but Great Bringer of Night 320 demo is out there for free.
Neither of the tracks I wanna show (Strip Nude for Your Killer & Spitting in Infinity's Asshole) are on Youtube so you'll just have to trust my judgement, straight killer.

An idea what to expect, this is more simplistic/chuggy than other stuff, don't skip these guys

More generic, but still fun, Clagg.

Watched this last night, interesting documentary focussing on the 70s squat culture and Villa Road in particular.

Interesting to hear how a number of very informed and previously optimistic individuals, consider the fall of capitalism beyond our reach now.

Haven't even watched this myself yet, but have heard good things.

Some of the most impressive underwater work I have come across, Mark Tipple has managed to create an entirely unique approach to this medium.

I'm particularly drawn to this series due to the way he has captured the weight and weightlessness of movement underwater. On top of the human action, there is a reoccurring ethereal theme running through, the combination of the cloud-like waves and diffused sunlight.

A very short video documentary the conditions experienced whilst carrying out this project.

Free Dr...um EP

6 tracks of abrasive, mindfuck Junglecore jiggery. Perfect for the pre-Saturday Night warm up.

Big shout to Off Me Nut Records for this.

Found this pretty interesting. Lynch doesn't come on until about 6 minutes, talks in large part about meditation and conciousness, some parts about his films.
