Today I have a silhouette card to share, using a Rosie's Studio fairy stamp set.

This is my first silhouette card so I am excited to see how I will be using this set in the future. Here's me using distress oxides to create the nite background. And probably use it.

'Cause crafters are secret hoarders, you know what I'm talking about. Anyway, though small these stencils are manageable. I was able to manipulate it in that I got the chevron pattern I wanted. I struggled but I managed.

I've uploaded my work process on my YouTube channel. , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Hello my crafty friends, welcome to today's post and if you're back for part two- thank you! Time management is not my strongest suit so my work flow is broken into many days-from coming up with five different card designs to the actual creating of each design. I will try to fare better but to be really honest, this is the best that I can do now. But in the mean time, do enjoy these other two cards.

For this last card, I used this intricate mandala dies to cut out shapes from this paper with small squares. I was a bit worried that this card would be too busy but was pleasantly surprised that the dies actually did those paper some justice and that it turned out better than I thought. I didn't think it was a good idea to use an intricate die with such a busy background but I was glad I went through with this idea anyway.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; It's been quite a while since my last ''Use What You Have' card series so today I am sharing with you a few cards that I've made using patterned paper as my primary supply.

The patterned paper I am using here is an oldie-circa 2011 called 'Fly a Kite' a 6x6 pad by MME. I started hoarding paper while doing my scrapbook layouts and photo albums way back and it is not something that I am proud to admit, especially since my albums are not near finished. Hmmmphh..

Moving along swiftly..

This paper design is a bit busy but by creating a border like these can break it up while adding interest to other parts of the card. By the way, this is a 220gsm silver A2 top folding sized card.

<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-L2beWoSQJZA/WzdR92KU4KI/AAAAAAAAK2M/r_BHWp9S8NITe7sHs8DoEAVb-aMU9GeEQCLcBGAs/s1600/You_re%2Ba%2Brockstar2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; I love these Rosie's Studio epoxy sticker and the best thing is they're are available in our local Mr. DIY.

Check out the shimmer on the clouds of this card. I scooped a tiny bit of Pentel's poster color in Pearl Silver to my acrylic block and added water to dilute it.

I was super excited of the result! It did exactly what it says-gives a pearlescent shimmer to my card front. But if I had to do this card again, I'd probably added even more of that magic shimmer to my card front.

And that's part 1 of destashing my old patterned paper pads. I will be back as soon as I finish the other 3 cards that I'd plan of making. I hope you come back for part 2. Meanwhile, you can also check out my humble video channel and leave some comments. Till we meet again in Part 2.

Using Small Dies for a Shaker Card Window

Hello my friends. Today is a special day for Teachers and as part of a gift for my son’s teacher, I made this easy, quick card using Rosie’s Studio Journalling cards. Here’s a few photo of the card and link to watch it on Youtube is right at the bottom.

If I were to recreate this card, I would use a smaller sized sequins because there wasn't much of wriggle room for the sequins to move about. These were 7mm gold sequins and you could probably get smaller ones from your local fabric store.

I especially love these pattern paper with gold foil accents. I'm pretty sure I'll be using more of Rosie's Studio paper for my other cards. I made a video of my workflow and posted it on Youtube and I love for you to go over my channel and have a look. Thanks for stopping by and watching my videos, I will see you soon with some other card ideas using supplies you most probably already own. Waste not, crafters. Today's card is all about using that one (or one too many) hoarded paper. I have in my drawer of <strike>disorganized</strike> shame these gorgeous paper from a Dear Lizzy collection. The collection has obviously been discontinued since it was from waaaay back but you can check out other collections that are even more gorgeous than this particular one.

This card took a little under an hour to make-the watercolor paper at the back of the jar was just a piece from a previous card, I only added distress ink to break the too pink-ish feel of this card. After a long absence I am finally back with not 1 but 2 cards for you today. I've already posted it to my Youtube channel and I'd love for you to check it out.

I knew when I started that I will be using old supplies. This means I am 'forced' to think of ways to use the stamps in my stash over and over again. Now one thing I learned over the years is that you can totally use individual stamps as card background. For this card, I stamped the elements onto a watercolor paper and using Versafine ink I was able to safely color my spring inspired stamps with Inktense color pencils.

I currently own 6 colors from Art Friend's open stock and am looking into buying the 24 pencils in a tin packaging because I think I'm in love. I was very careful and only did some light strokes on the areas I figured would be the darkest but as I got more confident with my lighting I added more colors to it. Boy! the colors were really vibrant and intense. And I'm not even good in coloring but I was really satisfied with the way it looked in the end. Did I mention I fell in love with it?

For the sentiments, I used this cutout sentiments from Rosie's Studio and generously used distress ink over it. I could've just left it at white but I just don't think you can do wrong by adding more colors to an already vibrant background. At least that was my thought process while making this card.

While making the cards, my iphone decided for itself that it had had enough and refused to take more recordings. I was left with bits of clip here and there and ugghh..it was quite a mess of a disaster. But let me breeze you through the process of making this second card. I stamped the same background on a piece of kraft card stock and instead of coloring, I attempted the embossing look by tracing the ink outline with a gold Uniball Signo pen.

What do you think of this faux gold embossing look? I've been so inspired by all the beautiful love themed cards that's been shared around craft blogs and YouTube channels that I wanted to challenge myself to make some valentine/love cards using supplies that's in my supplies. In other words, I'm going to force myself to use supplies that I've been hoarding. I'll disguise this challenge as a training but really it's just another way to trick my brain to quit buying and actually use the pretty pattern paper that's been in my stack for many many many moons.

Here's an outcome of said challenge. Let's call it Card #1 of the Minimal Supplies-Love Edition.

You'll be seeing a couple more of such simple card -it's quite the challenge, really. I kept second-guessing myself to use several different layout- too often to the point I thought that I might never be able to finish this card. It's so true that as a crafter (and a person) you are your own worst critique. I was literally assembling this card while 'telling' myself how to go about it in 2-3 different ways. In the end, I stuck with the idea to use a whimsical pattern paper together with a 'structured' one. I was pretty pleased with this one. What do you make of this idea? There's something about year end-weeks leading up to Christmas and the week after where it feels like a never ending rush to finish up on that one assignment, another last minute chore, one other thing. I hope your household is doing fine and well this particular time of the year- after all this is the time when families near or far gather together to have drinks, eat good food and reminisce about the past. Or ponder about the future. And the future is of course new year 2018 in about 2 weeks time!

So before we get really settled for the upcoming Christmas, I'm just going to share some cards I made during one of those rushed moments. I went safe with my cards by using the traditional colors of the season-the greens and reds.

I found an image of a poinsetta that I loved and resized it to different sizes to fit onto my card base. If you're going to use a free image from the net be sure to have it print using a laser printer or you can make a photocopy of your images if you plan to use watercolor so that your image doesn't bleed.

Disclaimer: Always check with the owner for copyright and permission to use online images.

I slapped some distress ink in Broken China on my card base. No blending needed, I wanted to get the harsh line look for the background and I knew that the poinsettas would really pop against it. Coloring them with Red and Sap Green from Koi brush pens with not much grace either, just having stress free coloring.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; And then I went wild with the inks. There was no particular 'recipe' on how I ended up with these colors other than the fact that my collection of inks aren't that big to start with, therefore I used Barn Door, Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint. I adhered that sentiment to the top right corner and cut it like so to add interest.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; Absolutely not the way to stamp but I had to do what I had to do for this card. The sentiment was purposely placed there cause it was missing the stamped impression and it was the biggest void ever!

I recorded the the process halfway and stopped when the idea that this card might never be started sinking in.

I'm telling you, there were so many things that went bonkers with this card and I could've ended its life within the first 10 minutes but I kept pushing through and in the end distress inking saved me. I'm glad I did because I like this imperfect card. Heck, I love it. It's absolutely me.

And that my dear friends, is how I started my November cards. October is winding down and before you know it, Christmas will be upon us. I like to think of November as the beginning of the end because that's when everyone seems to be rushing for something. School holidays is about to start in 3 weeks and that definitely requires proper planning for the kids to stay occupied and fingers crossed we get through till new years.

Back to my card, I initially thought of submitting this for a challenge but then decided against it because obviously I was having second thoughts about it. Not for the card itself but the time that's lapse since I did the first submission post. You can read about it here.

I used watercolor pencil to color a few flowers and leaves both from discontinued stamp sets from Lawn Fawn. And of course I fussy cut them then layered them onto a 3 3/4" x 5.5" kraft paper.

I added 2 layers of foam tapes to parts of the leaves and flowers to get a raised effect. Some parts of the flowers and leaves I've adhered to the kraft paper. The kraft paper was actually embossed and had it been a white cardstock, you'd be able to see the gold metallic finish on it.

<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yyyviUb5yb0/WfSd1OkerRI/AAAAAAAAKsA/My1l5p4p7MMnhl4uUUoVu7UmXzfgKnfcgCLcBGAs/s1600/use-your-flowers23.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; I love this flower and leaves set so much and you'll see me using them on my future cards quite a lot.

And as always thank you so much for stopping by. I have a card submission for 'Use Your Favourite Flower' challenge that's happening throughout October and it's part of The Flower Challenge 1st birthday celebration so you can expect lots of prizes being offered if you win their challenge. I'm hoping to win the stamp set from Neat & Tangled but then again all the prizes they're offering are gorgeous and very generous.

Before I found out about The Flower Challenge #13, I made myself a personal challenge- that I must be aware at all times craft supplies are not exactly cheap therefore the temptation to shop must be resisted at all costs, that I was going to use the supplies I already have as much as creatively possible and that I was going to make a short video of my card making process.

This is the result of that *personal challenge*.

For my submission, I knew I was going to be using 2-3 inks for my stamping that didn't require much coloring (limited supplies restrictions) and I ended up with 2- Versafine ink in Vintage Sepia and Versamagic Dewdrop in Pumpkin Spice. I made a pencil mark outline as a guide for my stamping. I stamped the big flower and leaves first then added those lighter colored flowers to sort of fill in the gap between the bigflowers.

Have you ever tried this technique? What was your experience in terms of limitations and how did you go around it? As always, when I'm not doing any cards I will be at my FB page sharing stuff-mine and others of course! I would love to hear your stories.

------

~A little on the side note..
I had filmed a trial run of making this card on my little point & shoot camera, but on playback it was really blahh..I figured that I'd just use my iphone to get everything filmed and edited but that lasted a few minutes, (storage, storage, sigh!) so yeah..that last part of my personal challenge didn't happen. Oh well, you can't win 'em all.

Late post: World Cardmaking Day 2017 + 5 Cards from Rosie's Studio

Happy World Cardmaking Day to you. Did you participate in any cardmaking event over the weekend? If you did, that must've been fun.

I had spent the whole of last week making these 5 cards. Allow me to quickly run you through my day as a crafter. After finishing my day job at 5pm, I rush to picked up the kids from school, have dinner at my in-laws and afterwards do some cleaning up from the mornings' mad rush to work/school. I have about an hour each day to sit and try to finish a card before it's time for the kids bedtime stories. I thought I would be able to finish the 5th card just in time for last weekend's event but such is life. I ended up at the hospital to have my son checked by his oncologist and though he didn't have to spend the weekend at the hospital (thank goodness) but I did have to nurse him back to health. So that's that, now back to my cards.

I recently discovered Rosie's Studio craft supplies and the Here & Now collection just made me fall madly in love with its rich colors and their beautiful journal cards. I made this first card using that journal card and the foiled geometric paper that I lightly distressed with Faded Jeans.

I really loved that geometric paper and used it as a background for this second card. These are assembled using die cuts that are stacked on foam tapes to create interest and dimension to this fussy cut card..

and speaking of fussy cutting your stamped images, I did just that with this faux window card. I colored leaves, little flowers and butterfly using my limited collection Copic Ciao markers, arranging them so that they sort of were like sticking out from the window. By the way, those leaves were from a discontinued stamp set by Lawn Fawn that I've recently just bought for less. The sentiment is actually from a sentiments sticker from Rosie's Studio, and they capture the mood that I was going for on this card.

I find it hard to come up with ideas to make a manly card but this 4th card was surprisingly quite easy to do. I went for the monochromatic look, save for some red love and cork shapes die cuts and voila, a no-fuss-easy card befitting a guy. This literally took me less than half an hours fussy cutting and die-cut rearranging. And just like that..

we're down to my 5th card for this year's World Cardmaking Day event. I die cut the word "beautiful" using this flowery pattern from Rosie's Studio paper pad and mount them onto leftover black foam of the same die cut word. I then aligned these to the centre of the card base to say "beau-tiful".

With a few sprinkles of turquoise sequins, this finishes my 5 card and while I want to call it a series so bad, that's going to have to wait for a while more because craft supplies are not cheap! I do hope you enjoyed going through these cards. I get my card inspiration from super talented cardmakers like Yana and Justine among others, their video cards rock!

Cards using free (YES! absolutely Free) printable paper.

Hi there. If you joined in from my FB page link, thank you so much.

I also mentioned in a previous post that I'll be making cards using inexpensive supplies. This card is just so. I turn to Pinterest for some card ideas to recreate and I chanced upon some beautiful shapes. I didn't have hexagon stamps but surely I can make some of my own? In my first attempt I tried drawing those hexagons on a watercolor paper. It looked so sad that it made me sad. I turned to the power of google to look for printable hexagons and found a design that I like and printed it with a laser jet printer. I found it best to further set the ink using a heat gun just because I keep having ink smear whenever I touch the printed paper.

|Try making these bee card using this printable paper found here |

But the end result was worth the fussy cutting. Don't you agree? This second card was also using the same fussy cut method. I made a three window shaker card that's slightly smaller than a size A2 card that's filled with turquoise, purple and white sequins. The design of this card came to me wanting to use those color sequins as focal points.

You can do no wrong with colorful sequins. It's indeed a welcome break from my 8-5 paying job and a good time to spend even more time on my card ideas.

I've had these stack of paper pads that's been sitting on my table just screaming at me to use them. They're so dinosaur years and I'm embarrassed to say I've only used 1-2 pieces from each pad. So I just took 1 paper out, cut it to size 5 3/4" x 3 3/4" , mounted it on a fun foam and this is the result.

This was super easy and didn't took that long to finish. Often times I amaze myself with how much supplies I hoard- this could've been done aeons ago and if I stick to this kind of 'method' I could do more cards.

This is another such card, only I made some cuts along the coconut trees' leaves to add some dimension using foam tapes at the back of the raised cuts. No stamped sentiments here- stickers from my hoarding were mounted on foam tape. Easy peasy.

Now this, I had the most fun. There are lots of videos like this and this that I really like and wanted to try. I didn't want to spend so much on new supplies but this watercolor set from Popular was inexpensive and it had the basic colors and that sold me. Initially I was worried about how messy the black was at first but then it looked so much better after adding all those white spatters.

That's it from me for this week. I'll be back next week for some cards made using inexpensive stationery bought supplies. Hope you'll join me then.

Card Inspired

Hello friends! Here's those cards made after watching those awesome 1 kit 10 card videos.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;
