Last week was Cru’s semi-annual Day of Prayer. Keynote is blessed to have the facilities to host all the Cru staff in the Indy area who wish to attend with us and it was a great time to honor God with our focused attention and remember that He is the one who really does the work, we just get the privilege of tagging along ☺.

Keynote completed not one, but two Comm Labs earlier this month (Karl put in some very full days running tech one of the weeks, but it’s worth it). I personally think this training is one of our best contributions to our staff and other believers who attend, because it gives them the tools they need to craft and communicate their stories in ways that will reach people more effectively. If you are ever interested in taking part (or know of someone who would be) please let us know. We’re happy to get you connected.

Thanks for all the prayers for Cru switching Email services. I think we’ve all had our share of frustrations at trying to figure out how to use the new system, but overall, the tech guys (like Karl) across the country worked hard and made the transition as smooth as possible. I, in one of my crankier moments, asked Karl what benefits we got from the change. He was able to tell me about an impromptu video conference he and several other staff preparing for our conference time in Colorado were able to have. That never would have been possible with the old system and it saved time and made communication so much easier.

That leads me into our big focus for the present and near future. Karl will be leading the tech team again this year for our CSU Conference Team. As you probably remember, every other year we go to Colorado State University to host several different trainings (New staff, Biblical studies, International preparation, leadership training, etc) and we culminate the summer with our All US staff conference. As you can imagine, this requires a LOT of planning and work to make happen, and all those people working want their computers to work, and their wireless connection to function and so on. That’s what Karl’s team does.

Please pray for Karl and the rest of the Conference team to have wisdom and ability to prepare for this summer (we’ve got a lot of changes, from housing shortages for families to different facilities on campus to work with). Karl will head out toward the end of May and Anja and I will follow as soon as school ends in June.

Thank you so much for being part of our team! You bless us greatly.

Karen knew she loved these four things. In fact, God had been softening her heart towards the idea of using her passions to further His kingdom. She was excited about this possibility, but still did not have a place to fully utilize her passions.
Approaching her senior year at Iowa State University, Karen “had this desire in (her) heart, but didn’t know where to look.” Still, she continued to search the Internet for that perfect fit. With anticipation and encouragement from her mentor, she approached the Keynote booth at a Cru winter conference thinking: “this place could be my fit.”
Although Karen had no prior involvement with Keynote, she decided it was the right place for her after discovering it was possible to use her degree in graphic design to serve Christ in ministry. Shortly after, Karen was on her way to Indianapolis for an interview.
“At the interview, it felt like they were really trying to get to know me, not just see what I could do for them,” she explained. The relational aspect of potentially working with Keynote impressed her. While in town, Karen had the opportunity to build relationships with her future co-workers and see one of the Keynote bands perform. The weekend helped Karen catch the vision for what Keynote does – help start spiritual conversations about Jesus.
A year later, Karen reported to Keynote as full-time staff member. Since then, she has had a vital role in using her passions to increase the professionalism and visibility of Keynote so that more people can hear the gospel. Last summer, she drove the design process to provide promotional materials for our Summer Project bands. She also recently gave a fresh look to our two biggest fundraising events: An Evening with Keynote and the Keynote Golf Challenge.

Karen loves working for a ministry where the motivation for her work isn’t found in product or profit but in seeing lives changed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. She firmly believes that “God gives us our passions to illuminate His will.” As a resource ministry, we need people like Karen who want to use their skills and passions to serve Christ.

This is why Karl and I are so happy to serve “behind the scenes” as well. We love being able to use the skills God has given us to serve Him and see lives changed. Thank you for making our ministry at reality!

First, a quick prayer request from Karl:

Please pray that I would get over the last bits of the flu that has kept me home Monday – Thursday. I need to lead three Google training times at Keynote next Tuesday, and then six more in Minneapolis next Thursday and Friday. I’d really appreciate your prayers for energy, a strong voice, preparation, and the ability to encourage our staff in this email transition. Thanks!

“Who is the real God – Allah or the God of the Bible?”

Matthew, a college student in Portland, asked this question. His dad is Muslim, and his mom is Catholic. While in Jordan last summer with his dad’s family, he read the Quran resulting in more questions about Islam and Christianity.

This situation is not surprising to John, Cru campus staff member in Portland. He believes that the rough spiritual soil in Portland brings unique challenges. As a result, more time is needed to cultivate relationships so spiritual conversations about Jesus can happen.

MissionHub frees up that time for John by eliminating piles of administrative work, giving him more time to care for the people who need him most. The result is more effective ministry. “I joined staff to reach people, especially one on one,” explained John. “Instead of doing admin, I can actually use my time to meet with students!”

John’s ministry team also realized that when they met non-believers on campus for the first time, follow-up sometimes fell through the cracks. John credits MissionHub with organizing his contacts and preventing him from losing touch with students – students like Matthew.

John and Matthew have been meeting for a few months to talk about Islam and Christianity. Matthew is still exploring and continues to trust John to help him navigate through the Bible. Now, Matthew is asking, “What will happen if I become a Christian and disappoint my Muslim relatives?”

Thank you for helping us create digital resources that help people like John have spiritual conversations about Jesus with students like Matthew. Please pray with me that Matthew begins a relationship with Jesus this semester and is motivated to share his journey with others.

———-

We hope you are as encouraged as we are. We love knowing that our work behind the scenes makes relationships like John and Matthew’s possible. And your ministry to us, through prayers and finances and encouragement makes our work possible! God is so good the way He connects us all to His purposes. That way we get the blessings working together and being a part of His plans. Thank you for serving with us.

Please pray with us for health. Pray also for the email transition for all of Cru’s staff. The change promises to be good, but transitions are always a bit messy. One praise is for our recent trip to Florida. It was full of all kinds of stuff, but it all fit together and we were glad to see a few of you while at the CUMC missions conference.

Happy New Year! I know that’s a little late, but we do hope and pray that God blesses you and your family this year.

Here at Keynote, we’re trusting God for some exciting things. Everything is centered on helping people start spiritual conversations about Jesus. True life change only happens when the gospel enters people’s lives through the power of the Spirit.

We’ve been asked to send a band to a cosmopolitan Middle Eastern city where the gospel is rarely shared out in the open. This is an amazing opportunity to help break up the rocky spiritual soil so that the seed of the gospel can be sown effectively and take root. Please pray that this would result in spiritual movements (growing, multiplying groups of believers) starting in this country.

In our communications training, we’re asking God to allow us to grow from two Communication Labs per year to four this year. We’d like to provide 250 people with greater effectiveness in ministry through better communication skills.

Our digital strategies team is working with the campus ministry to provide tools and strategies to help them reach the most students with the gospel. Our main emphasis is improving MissionHub, which helps the field staff keep track of and communicate with the people they need to reach.

Please pray that God would grant us wisdom and favor in all of these efforts! Thank you for all of the ways that you support us in this ministry. God is at work!

We’re coming to Venice, Florida on February 9 and 10!

If you want to stop by and say “hi”, we’ll be at the Panera Bread at the Venice Village Shoppe at Jacaranda and US 41 from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday (4179 S Tamiami Trail).

Happy Thanksgiving! We hope that you were able to enjoy family and friends last week. It’s great to have a time specifically set aside each year to remember to give thanks to God.

I’ve been reading two very different books lately that both challenged me to think differently about what I’m thankful for. We often focus on thanking God for all of the good things that He’s given us, and that is certainly important. But do we remember to thank Him for the privilege of knowing Him and being His children?

In Old Testament Today: A Journey from Original Meaning to Contemporary Significance, John Walton and Andrew Hill explore Abraham’s faith. Abraham didn’t know how God was going to bring salvation, and probably didn’t think in those terms. He just knew that God called him into relationship with Himself and promised to bless him and be his God. If we didn’t really understand heaven and hell, would we be willing to give our lives completely to God?

In Crazy Love, Francis Chan says,

The Good News – the best news in the world, in fact – is that you can have God Himself. Do you believe that God is the greatest thing you can experience in the whole world? Do you believe that the Good News is not merely the forgiveness of your sins, the guarantee that you won’t go to hell, or the promise of life in heaven?

The best things in life are gifts from the One who steadfastly loves us. But an important question to ask ourselves is this: Are we in love with God or just His stuff?

Imagine how awful it would feel to have your child say to you, “I don’t really love you or want your love, but I would like my allowance, please.” Conversely, what a beautiful gift it is to have the one you love look you in the eye and say, “I love you. Not your beauty, your money, your family, or your car. Just you.”

Can you say that to God?

God loves us – really, personally, and intimately. As we move through this holiday season from Thanksgiving to Christmas, let’s remember that His greatest gift to us is Himself!

In the words that the Lord gave Moses to bless the Israelites:

The LORD bless you and keep you;
the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.

Greetings from Indiana! We’ve enjoyed a beautiful month, though now we’re praying for the east coast with the rest of you as winter front and late hurricane collide. God’s power, mercy and provision are evident in blessings and trials alike. Thank goodness we can trust Him to work all things for good for those who love Him.

Though Karl and I work mostly behind the scenes we do it to make real life change possible. So when I read the story below I just had to share it with you. Rhymz Suhreal is a husband and wife team that joined Keynote recently and tour as they are able (thanks to grandparents and friends who help out with their 4 kids ☺).

She was told “You Can Not Come To God…” by Becky and Zak Alwin

September was a month for Rhymz Suhreal to be out on the road sharing the Good News. We were able to minister to over 700 people throughout September. We were well received by the audiences we played to, which was encouraging, as well as fun for us. However, the real joy came in the conversations and time that we spent talking and praying with people after the show.

A woman named Brenda whom we met in Racine, WI, couldn’t even wait for after the show. She rushed up to the stage while we took a short break in our set. With tears in her eyes, she came towards us and called out, “I heard your music from 2 blocks away . . . I just knew I had to come!”

I hopped off the stage and we hugged. She asked me, “How can I know God?” Needless to say, I was ready to offer her the Living Water, and The Word of God. While we talked, she shared how she was told from her previous church that she “couldn’t come to God”- that she “could not pray to Him.” It broke my heart to hear that! I told her that Christ came and died so that we could come to God—that our relationship with Him was broken by our sin, but was restored through Jesus when we put our faith in Him!

I will never forget her facial expression upon hearing that. It was disbelief and shock, mixed with tremendous joy and wonder-the lies were being unlocked, she was slowly grasping this new found truth. To see someone hear, truly hear the real gospel message for the first time, was exciting and humbling—for her and for me! What a privilege and honor to be a small part in what the Spirit was doing in this lady’s heart.

That day she put her faith in Him—the One who made a way for her to come directly to the Father. Our new sister in Christ said to us, again with tears streaming down her face, “Thank you for coming. This is the best day of my life.” And it was!!! That day her name was written in the Book of Life and she could now start her journey walking daily with her personal Lord & Savior.

If you were encouraged by this story, we’d like to invite you to “attend” An Evening with Keynote! Join us online at 7:20pm on November 10 at www.keynote.org/live to be encouraged by stories and updates from Keynote 2012.

India Chennai Update #1

It has been a complete whirlwind since we touched down in Chennai. As you may recall, weather pushed our flights back, so that instead of arriving a day and a half before our first show we arrived in Chennai Friday morning around 10:00am, and headed straight to our first show at 3:00pm. We haven’t had a day off since. The first concert at Hindustan University was a huge success, even though we were in a sleep deprived state while doing it. God was faithful, and 88 people indicated receiving Christ.

We’ve literally played every day… or at least tried to. At an outdoor show at Madras Christian College, we got rained out after doing 2 songs. …The next day, Scott’s guitar rig would not power up, due to either rain, or the extremely janky AC power we’re dealing with. Good news: Found the exact piece of gear in the randomness of Chennai. Bad news: It cost 30,000 Rupees, or about $540 US. (But, what’s a touring guitarist with a dead rig to do?) So, we all rejoiced than a replacement was found, and soldiered on. The next day, at the rescheduled show at Madras Christian College, we played to about 500 people and saw 52 of them indicate receiving Christ.

India Update #2

The day of our concert was the second day of the 10-day Ganesh festival throughout India. We’ve seen displays all over the cities of the elephant-headed god with food offerings and dancers and other acts of devotion. We’ve even seen some businesses shut down in observation of the festival. So… what I’m saying is that we played a concert at Ganesh University during the height of the Ganesh Festival.

We learned that our concert is the first Christian outreach event in the 30-year history of the school. We played to an audience of about 500 people. The power went out twice during our set (which happens a lot here), but the energetic crowd embraced the outage with screaming and applause that only grew louder when it came back on. … So of course, we did a full-on outreach program, with Seth sharing the gospel explicitly, and then giving an invitation for people to pray and receive Christ. (108 people indicated a decision for Christ at this concert)

India Update #3 – an email the band received from a believer who was at one of the concerts

I am a secret believer. attended your concert at RSAG in chennai today!! It was awesome and all who came were blessed by it! I am from a HINDU background, its a religion where they worship idols. If my parents come to know that m a christian they will thrash me. And also the time is nearing for me to tell it at home that am a secret christian!! But the situation is so hard that m undergoing so much of trouble. Please pray for me, that is should get the strength when i tell it to my family!

The past month for me was all about our office redesign project. We want to have a workplace that inspires creativity and is an encouraging place to work, but we obviously didn’t want to spend a lot of money on the project. We came up with a plan to get new carpet, rearrange our existing cubicle walls, and add some new furniture and color.

My part was to coordinate the electrical and data cable work:

Except for some decorating, the project is done! I’m excited that things are working and look great. I’m also confident that we have an office that will serve us well for a long time.

Of course, the point is the ministry that will happen here and around the world through our work.

Here is what God did this summer through the Keynote summer project students:

8,800 miles traveled

3,453 people in attendance at our concerts and film/theater events

532 one-on-one spiritual conversations

362 people who indicated a decision to receive Christ!

Thank you for the part that you play in making all of this happen! God is at work through your prayers and giving!

Keynote and Impact’s bands are out on the road, both in the US and over in Estonia right now. They’re having the spectrum of experiences one would expect. Everything from faith encouraging times seeing people coming to Christ to massive technical logistical difficulties, topped off by one guy finding out he’d been performing on stage with his fly down! These are all great chances to grow in what it really means to serve God with our daily lives. We enjoy cheering them on in the successes and praying with them through the not-so-fun parts and thought you would, too. Here’s just a sample:

IMPACT: Wednesday, the 18th of July, we went to the Marion County Youth Detention Center. We seemed to be a tad bit pressed for time but we made it work.17 of the students at the center came to Christ! Our question and answer sessions were pretty cool. A guy named Trai said, “I really liked it. It got to my heart and got my attention to life so thank you so much.”

YOUNG ISAAC: (after a 7 year-old received Christ) The other cool story of that night was of a couple, one of which is a biker. A bit ago, a couple in this new church plant met this couple at an event and they had dinner together later that night. They were not Christians. Tonight, this very couple happen to pass by the park where we were performing at and heard us play. The wife told her husband that he had to stop, that she felt compelled by something telling her to listen to our playing. While Logan (our lead male vocalist) was sharing his story and gospel, she began crying. We were told that at the end of the night, she accepted Jesus Christ. Someone from the new church plant was able to talk to them and she told that person in tears that she wanted to tell about God’s salvation to her son who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and has only two weeks to live. Again, go God!!

BACKBEAT SERENADE: This past Friday and Saturday night, we had the chance to go to two different RV campgrounds and perform for the families that were staying there. The first performance was at a campground called Jellystone(in Wisconsin), and we were able to meet some of the employees who ended up being a part of a Christian organization called the Navigators that had come to work for the summer at Jellystone. On Saturday night, we played at a campground called Del Boo and there were about 60 people there. At each show we hand out comment cards to the audience, asking them to give us feedback on what they thought about the performance, and what they thought about the Gospel and the story that was shared. When we received the comment cards back from the audience at the Del Boo campground on Saturday night, we got back thirty-three cards, and nine people out of the thirty-three, from the ages of 9-61, accepted Christ into their lives!

They’ve got about a week more on tour and then they head back to their regular lives.

Pray with us for the new believers from their efforts, for the seeds they planted in others to sprout, and most of all, that their own lives would reflect God increasingly as they go home.

Pray for them to stay firmly anchored in God and use this summer as a launching pad for what God will do in and through them in the future.

Pray also for God to work beyond our imagining through Heartbeat Tallinn and through the outreach efforts at the Olympics.

We just got back a couple days ago from our trip to see many of you. I can definitely say we left more encouraged than we started, because of our time hearing back from so many of you. You all are a HUGE blessing to us and we want you to know just how much we appreciate your part in our ministry with Cru.

While we were gone, Keynote has been full speed ahead with this year’s students attending the Keynote Summer Project. The students arrived a little over a week ago and are getting trained in communication/story telling skills as well as developing their roles in the bands they’ll tour with.

One example of skills requiring training would be for the sound techs. Before most of the students got here all the sound tech people (both Keynote staff and students) had to get trained on new digital sound boards. It’s stuff like that which requires so much skill to make the outreach events go well, but is often unseen and unsung.

Even our house got to serve while we were gone, because a couple of the sound tech students were able to bunk there with Harro, our new Australian staff member ☺. We love how God helps us be good stewards of our stuff, even when we’re not around.

Pray for Keynote

Keynote Summer Project bands. Pray for God to do amazing things in the students’ lives and through their ministry this summer. The bands will be touring the second half of July and into August.

Keynote Office redesign. As soon as summer project is over the office is getting a major overhaul/redesign. You can imagine the disruption this can cause to everyone’s work and Karl and many of the staff are going to be hands on pulling things apart and putting them back together.

PrayEurope.com (for more info, click on Prayer Projects)

Heartbeat Tallinn. CRU’s ministry in Europe is targeting the country of Estonia (across from Finland, former USSR) with a massive, multipronged outreach campaign. Keynote and Impact (who serve with us) are sending artists over as part of the outreach strategies.

AIA (Athletes in Action) Olympics in London. As you can imagine, much of the world is coming to London, and the rest of the world will be watching. Please pray for the campaign to minister to athletes, attendees, and even the online potential as people around the world Google their favorite sports and find testimonies from athletes who know Jesus.

Campus Crusade for Christ has made the transition to our new name, Cru. In addition to the symbol you see to the left, we will also be using the following tagline:

A caring community passionate about connecting people to Jesus Christ

We can’t wait to see what additional doors God opens for us through the use of this new name. That’s the whole point of changing the name, after all. So that nothing hinders our staff and volunteers from being able to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with everyone around them.

As for you all, our partners in ministry, this shouldn’t have any significant effect on how you interact with us as a ministry. Donations may be made out to Cru, but using the old name will not cause any problems. Even our old email addresses will still work, though we now have new cru.org ones also.

I highly recommend checking out our new www.Cru.org website, though! I actually tried to copy the front page to show you, but, not being nearly as tech savvy as Karl, that didn’t go so well (this would have been a 9 page letter ☺). There you’ll find information on our various ministries, encouraging stories, access to resources and information that you can use personally, even a campus locator for your students heading off to college!

Coming to PA

We are excited to say we’re coming to Pennsylvania for a couple of weeks (between June 10-24) just to see you! Well, as many of you as possible in such a short time☺.

Karl’s already working on our schedule and we hope to have a couple of options for “open house” times to make it easier for you to fit us into your summer schedules, too. We’ll post that information here and email it out as soon as we have date/time/location worked out. Also, feel free to call or email us if have a time you’d like to meet with us.

We are so blessed by all of you and want to spend time hearing how you are doing and knowing how we can pray more specifically for you, so we’re really looking forward to this time. Thank you for the ways you serve us and make our ministry with Cru a reality.

Why should we study theology? One reason is given in Matthew 22:37-38, where Jesus says “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment”. God enables us to love Him with our minds – to think His thoughts after Him!

I (Karl) had the privilege last week of continuing my Biblical studies by taking a course called “Theology Proper, Bibliology, Pneumatology” (shortened by most of us to “God, Bible, Holy Spirit”). It’s one of several Systematic Theology courses that Campus Crusade for Christ staff are required to take, and I’m obviously behind schedule on completing them.

It was a wonderful week of learning. We prepared with a lot of reading over the past few months, and completing study guides. Then we met from Monday to Saturday last week, with a break on Tuesday for Campus Crusade’s Worldwide Day of Prayer.

Dr. Alan Scholes set a worshipful tone as we looked at why we can trust the Bible, the awesome God that we serve, and the Holy Spirit who indwells us. I especially like how all of Campus Crusade for Christ’s classes are practical, and we talk about how to apply what we’re learning in ministry.

What will stick with me the most is how Dr. Scholes ended the class with a session called “Our Growing Walk”. Victory in Christ is not a sprint but a marathon.

We talked about how children learn to walk – they stumble and fall, but they are surrounded by encouragement and by people who are walking well. If only we could follow that example with new believers! The analogy breaks down when you push it too far (as all analogies do), since it’s hard to see who is walking well with Christ. But it challenged me to remember to come along side and encourage new believers.

We ended with the challenge to run the race well (Gal. 5:1-7, 1 Cor. 9:24-27). The apostle Paul finished well (2 Timothy 4:7-8), as did Dr. Bright, the founder of Campus Crusade for Christ. We watched a video called “I Wouldn’t Change a Thing” that was created in honor of Dr. Bright’s life and ministry (below). Both the scriptures and the life of Dr. Bright continue to challenge me to look to Christ, the founder and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Click here to view the embedded video.

We treasure your prayers, and we pray for all of you that we may all fight the good fight, finish the course, and keep the faith!

Kyle’s story was written by Vanessa Robles for a Keynote newsletter. We can relate well to it:

With a freshly printed diploma Kyle was ready to get his hands dirty in missions. He began his Keynote internship with big dreams: to grow spiritually, be challenged, and help further God’s kingdom. His role as web developer provided him with that opportunity.

While Kyle heard that his technical savvy furthered Keynote’s mission to reach the lost for Christ, after a few months he found it difficult to believe that his work was making a difference. “I started to struggle with thinking that my efforts [behind the scenes] weren’t helping in the trenches, on the grassroots level of evangelism,” says Kyle.

God answered Kyle’s question of significance. With his laptop packed snugly in a black bag, Kyle flew to Guatemala with a Keynote Communication Training team. The Keynote team was invited to Central America to coach mission workers from two indigenous Mayan tribes, Panama, and Guatemala. The classes on public communication for evangelism provided an opportunity for the native Spanish speakers to enrich and broaden their ministry outreach.

God painted a vivid picture for Kyle of the important role he plays in sharing the gospel. Kyle’s work at Keynote continues to help and broadened the reach of missionaries around the world. Kyle enables Keynote to share the gospel with more people by creating and designing web sites, emails and web pages. While serving as technical support in Guatemala, Kyle not only helped to increase the impact of the missionaries in Central America, but he also saw how vital it is for each member of the body of Christ to actively contribute their time, talents, and resources to reaching the lost around the world with God’s love.

God used this trip to change Kyle’s life. Kyle says, “This trip helped me see what I had been missing all along, that resource ministry is a beautiful and humble thing… my internship experience was an opportunity for spiritual and personal growth. I am living a more God-minded life now. I appreciate being able to look back and see how God has drawn me closer to Himself this year.”

Karl and I both remember our early times in support ministry roles in Florida. Ministry can be exciting at times, at times challenging, but it can also feel hum drum. That’s when having God’s perspective becomes so important. I’m sure you’ve heard the story of the two builders. One, when asked what he was doing, replied,”I’m laying bricks”. The other one said, “I’m building an amazing Cathedral!”. Same work, radically different perspective.

Karl and I are grateful that we generally can “see” how our support roles, tech and otherwise, add up to God reaching the lost and building his Amazing Kingdom. But all missionaries (dare I say, all of us Christians) can use God’s perspective on how He’s using our daily lives. Let’s pray for each other to keep God’s big picture before our eyes. Blessings to you as we remember He who conquered death to save us, Amen!

“If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success”.

- Ecclesiastes 10:10

At Keynote, we have the privilege of creating tools that make the rest of Campus Crusade for Christ more effective. The most recent of those is called MissionHub.

At many campuses, the Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) movement works hard each year to reach the freshman class with the gospel. Every year, freshmen take spiritual interest surveys on paper cards. The staff members collect hundreds of cards and distribute them to the student leaders so they can answer questions the students have about Jesus and invite them to Cru. Invariably, cards end up wedged at the bottom of backpacks, lying on the floor behind dressers, or hidden in trunks of cars. The people who filled out those cards remain unknown, their questions unanswered. No one follows up with them.

Enter MissionHub, an online follow-up system co-developed by people across Campus Crusade for Christ (including here at Keynote), and designed to connect leaders with students who are interested in growing spiritually. With MissionHub, leaders can see how many times and in what way a student has been contacted. It frees them to focus on getting to know students that haven’t yet had their questions answered. It also prevents the awkward “Yes, I know all about Cru; Susie Q talked to me three times about it!” conversations.

This is what a campus ministry leader in New Zealand had to say about MissionHub (he is writing to Keynote’s director, Chris):

Mission Hub has been awesome! … We have over 3000 contacts on Otago campus alone, that is 15% of the campus population in mission Hub. The benefits of the technology are numerous. they will be become more obvious as we head forward. We look forward to seeing people come to Christ. We have had three students make a decision in the last 24 hours already. Pray for us as we follow up students and share the gospel with them.

lastly thanks Chris for the work you are doing with your team to develop mission Hub. We look forward to helping shape the tool and add appropriate functionality.

God bless

Thank you for the part that you’re playing in this effort by praying and giving. Lives are being changed! Please pray that we set the right priorities and develop this tool wisely as it is used within Campus Crusade for Christ and by other churches and ministries around the world.

Please also pray for Liesl’s back, neck and head. She’s been experiencing a lot of pain lately. We know that God is with us even in the hard times, but it can be discouraging when physical pain goes on for long periods.

Thank you again for your prayers!

Happy 2012, y’all! Hope you are all recovered from the holidays and are seeing God moving in you and through you in your daily lives. We are encouraged and humbled in the big and little things we see, like seeing Anja becoming a young lady who cares for others, while trying to parent her in the areas that don’t go so well. We’ve seen prayers for very sick people be answered with healing, while others got more bad news that their cancer has spread. What we do know is that, big or little, yes or no, God is there, working in and through life’s irritations, interruptions, blessings and trials.

For me personally, there have been some steps forward in that I’ve been able to see some improvement in my constant headaches. It’s still a moment my moment problem for me and that probably won’t change, but it makes me increasingly aware of how God has to be involved in every day and how he determines how I will spend it.

One blessing stemming from this improvement is that I’m able to take over doing some of Keynote’s financial jobs, and have been spending a lot more time in the office getting trained. Some friends are transitioning out of Keynote to open a local branch of FamilyLife (another great part of Cru) here in Indy. The timing has worked well for me to take up where he left off on this part of his job. One of the other moms has taken another big piece of his responsibilities so the gap is being filled.

Another way we’re happy to serve is by opening our home to visitors. With the Superbowl just around the corner, housing is, as you can imagine, a bit scarce. Athletes in Action (yet another part of Cru!) hosts a Superbowl breakfast every year as one of the official events and they have a lot of staff heading to Indy to run this great event. We’ll be able to make things easier by sharing our home with some of them.

The following month, we’ll host another staff member from Orlando coming to attend Keynote’s Comm Lab. No matter how long we have been in ministry, we’ve found that the skills Comm Lab teaches on how to effectively communicate your story and your message are invaluable.

Keynote will host the third annual Comm Lab at the end of March. Keynote loves to serve others and equip them to more confidently proclaim God’s truth. Please pray with us that this would be an effective and helpful event for all who participate. This event is open to anyone who would like to attend, so if you or someone you know would like to take part in this event, you can learn more here.

Thank you all for your involvement in our lives. You make our ministry here in Indy possible through your prayers, your generosity, and your encouragement. We are so blessed by you!
