Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama teaches, that  one should visit a new place each year. Last year I fought in Serbia, Germany, Jordan, England and in the United States. Some of those countries I never visited before.

As I’m going to Ukraine’s capital Kiev, I am going to start my fighting year in the same manner. This will be my return to Europe’s top promotion Cage Warriors and I will look for the third consecutive win in the organisation based in England. They honor me with the main event against a very dangerous hometown boy. His name is Dimitry Poberezhets (10-4-1). He might as well be the most well rounded guy I ever fought. So I’m training like a mad man right now.

Ein langjähriger und enger Freund von mir hatte einen Traum. Vor nunmehr 10 Jahren begann er damit sich einen Namen in der Modewelt machen zu wollen. Er hatte großartige Designideen, jede Menge Enthusiasmus und den nötigen Stil. Doch leider fehlte es ihm an Geld oder den nötigen Beziehungen.

In diesem Jahr hat er mit seinem Online Shop und der Eröffnung seines ersten Ladenlokals endlich seinen Durchbruch geschafft. Zu diesem Anlass wollte er alle die ihm geholfen und ihn inspiriert haben auf seinem Weg ehren und integrierte sie auf seiner Homepage. Zu diesem Anlass sollte ich für ihn eine Zusammenfassung meines Werdegangs und meiner Geschichte niederschreiben. Da dieses Jahr auch für mich das Jahr war in dem ich meine bisher größten Erfolge feiern konnte und ich stolze 30 Jahre alt wurde kam diese Anfrage zu einer passenden Zeit um ein mal zurück zu blicken. Das Ergebnis ist der mit Abstand intimste und offenste Text über meine Person den ich bislang der Öffentlich preis gab:

“Ich lebe für den Moment in dem alles eins ist, in dem ich ganz ich selbst bin und mich mit dem Universum verbunden fühle. Da ich Kämpfer bin gehen die meisten davon aus, dass dieser Moment im Kampf zu suchen sein muss. In Wahrheit finde ich ihn jedoch viel häufiger im Training. Wenn ich bis zur Erschöpfung trainiert habe, Techniken einstudiert und immer und immer wieder wiederholt habe. Die Leute an meiner Seite, meine Trainingspartner und Trainier sind mindestens genau so müde wie ich, doch wir machen noch eine Wiederholung, noch eine Runde Sparring, noch eine Technik. Wir sind eins mit dem Sport, eins als Team und eins mit uns selbst. In diesem Moment ist man mehr als nur ein Mensch, ich bin Teil eines großen Puzzles und ich merke, dass ich genau am richtigen Platz liege.

Als Kind und Jugendlicher bin ich zusammen mit meiner Mutter viel umgezogen. Im Schnitt wechselte ich mindestens einmal im Jahr die Schule. Zudem war ich immer der kleinste und (…hier geht’s weiter)

After my fight against Tim “The Mainiac” Sylvia I decided to sell my fight shorts on ebay. The revenues should be used for a good cause. Targeting the DKMS wich is a German wide database for people who are willing to donate stem cells for those who suffer from leukemia. That idea was inspired by Simon Tobor who has a long history with the cancer form and fought several battles against it so far without loosing his will and positive mind state. Being so inspired by his attitude I wanted to give something back.

It was really surprising, that the ebay auction ended at 161 € (209 $). Even more surprisingly the sponsor who supplied the shorts on the first place sent me an email right after the auction ran out. He appolgized for not bying the shorts himself and offered 200 € flat (260 $) to buy back his own pair of shorts. Due to this generous offer the highest bidder of the ebay auction agreed to give the shorts back to Phantom MMA Europe.

On less than 3 weeks notice I got asked to replace Pedro Rizzo in ProElite’s next event in Moline, Illinois. The opponent is none other than former UFC title holder Tim “the Main-iac” Sylvia. As this would be the biggest bout for any german fighter so far, I feel like I already won. Not only is it a big step up in competition for me. But it also is a sign of appreciation for the german MMA scene. Showing that it can produce fighters who can make it to the big show.

My next fight is this weekend on the Cage Warriors return to London on July 9th with another stacked show which will be free LIVE streamed on the internet and broadcast on TV over several continents. My opponent this time? The giant former basketball player Dave Keeley
