Fluid Art with DecoArt Interference Paint

I've been experimenting with fluid art.

Trying to get cells to create is hard!
I've tried multiple mediums, multiple products. The DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics is my favorite!!
Their Interference Colors worked FABULOUS!!

I started with a black canvas. Just mixed DecoArt carbon black with some water and flotrol and had a big pool in the center, scattered some paint around the edges.

I've tried blowing with hairdryer, spinning, blowing with straw. I can't seem to control the harshness of the blow dryer. But I did use the blow-dryer on this canvas. Did a little tilting as well.

The colors just turned out so vibrant. The pictures really don't do them justice!!

Colors used: Violet, Gold, Blue

DecoArt Paint Pour Success!!

I'm new at Paint Pouring-so still learning what will and won't work!!
This is my finished piece!
I love how the colors move and create a unique piece of artwork!!

I started by pouring white Acrylic paint mixed with water to thin it out over the entire base.

The base is a 14 inch round from Hobby Lobby. All paint used is from DecoArt Ready to Pour Acrylic Paint-found HERE

I had the idea to make flowers. I was looking to do something delicate. But I poured too much paint! Once I started blowing out the paint (using a straw), the colors took over the canvas!! That's not a bad thing if that's what you're looking for!! Ha!

Since delicate was the look I was going for, I gently laid a napkin on top -gently!! To pick it up, pull up each corner and slowly lift it off.

Viola!!! This was the outcome! I love how the colors became more delicate and mixed!

Welcome to my Blog!

One of my coworkers is having a birthday next week. She's not a real frilly girl. I tried to keep it simple, yet elegant. I wanted to layer it. I used DecoArt multi surface Acrylic Metallic paints to enhance several embellishments on the card and tie the whole thing together.

Create beach shore using Resin and DecoArt Paint

I have jumped on the Resin band wagon!!

I kept seeing the beautiful items everyone was making and I just had to try it!

There is definitely a learning curve.

I painted the blue and brown with DecoArt Americana paint.

I had some shells I had picked up at Myrtle Beach, SC and I laid them down with a thin coat of resin underneath to hold them in place.

I mixed some white acrylic paint into a small amount of resin to make the waves. Using a hair dryer to blow it out.

DIY broken jewelry to masterpiece!

I'm doing some artwork for my bedroom wall. When I saw this Dollar Tree sign-I knew I wanted to change it up! At first I was going to repaint and put a clip on top to hold a picture of my grandkids. when I started looking through my mixed media stash, It took a totally different direction!!

DecoArt products will help you with all your DIY projects!

I used their Matte Medium and Chocolate Suede Paint on this project.

I sanded it lightly to get the glitter off.

Then I decoupaged some song book sheets and added a little washi tape.

This is the back. I put a layer of gesso, came back with DecoArt Coffee Bean Suede paint. While the paint was still wet, I scrunched a paper towel and dabbed it all over to create more texture.
note the Suede paint has some gritty texture and is so nice to work with

I laid out my pearls and broken jewelry in the pattern I liked, then I hot glued it to the board.

I love how it turned out!! Definitely being hung in my bedroom!!

Upcycle with DecoArt to create tiered centerpiece

I've been seeing these cute tiered centerpieces on Pinterest. I just had to have one for my kitchen table. Buy it?! NEVER!! Have to break it down and make it myself!

Couldn't find the right plates at Dollar Tree-I did pick up plain glass candlesticks there. Scooted on over the Roses and found the plates. $1 for large and 89cents for small. Total for tiered tray $7.

Start

Prep with Gesso-allow to dry.

Used DecoArt Suede Chocolate to coat good, then a baby wipe to gently wipe

away to look vintage.

I bought the flowers, white glass pieces at Dollar Tree. You can add whatever décor YOU want to match your space. Change it out for holidays. Endless possibilities.

Unique Paint Pour

I did a paint pour for my granddaughter.

Her favorite color is blue. That was my inspiration.

I wanted to use this crushed glass I've had for a while in my stash from Stampin Up.

I used some silver alphabet to spell the work Unique.

It takes 24-48 hours for pours to totally dry.

Then I sealed it with a clear top coat.

It's very fun and every piece you do is different.

For this challenge, I used Unity Stamps. The background I white embossed the coffee stamp in white to resemble a blackboard. The cute little owl -I JUST LOVE!! from Unity Stamps! I colored him with Stampin Up watercolor pencils.

Unity is having their challenges on Facebook. This month is Nature (animals, floral, trees, scenes)

Scripture Art

A few months back I painted my bedroom yellow and pink. I haven't had a chance to create anything for the walls. While checking out the challenge at Word Art Wednesday, I knew I needed to make a canvas with the scripture featured.

Mixed media is one of my favorites!! The background of the canvas was done a long time ago. Stenciled words. Beige color. Blah! I squeezed some Americana Acrylic paints on and brayered them around. Took some paper towels and blotted most of it back off. That was my base. I found some matching designer paper, printed and cut my scripture.

Next came the embellishments!! I have some crotched doilies that I used. Made by my friend Melody Schwartz. I just folded one in half and added a stem from Really Reasonable ribbon to turn it into a butterfly!!

All the flowers and ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon. Except the big flower at the bottom. I made that one.

Snowman on Windows

I did a private class with 2 sisters. The windows used are rom their home when they were growing up-specifically-th3e kitchen window they looked out of a lot.

The left side was their mother-who passed away a few years ago-hence the angel wings in the finished window.

There are 3 children on the right side showing two sisters, one brother. Each wearing their favorite colors.

Their mother always said "I love you more". That was cut with my cricut and placed on the finished windows.

Such a special Christmas gift and such a special day!! I'm so honored they included me in this!

Soul Sisters Mini Album

I LOVE making mini albums! I tried to find the YouTube video I followed to make this album. I couldn't. I hate that-because I'm definitely making another one. You will make a valley fold for the binding, with a ribbon crossing it all. Page inserts are added, then decorate!

This paperpad is neutral and easily adaptable. Adding some embellishments made it perfect!!

I used some Unity Stamps for some of the embellishments.

Prima flowers and stickers adorned the pages.

I love having a card sketch to create a card.

This is my card from Mojo Monday Card sketch.

I used Stampin Up stamp set, a watercolor piece from stash and a white cardstock run through a Stampin up folder for the background.

Used a Stampin up dies for the images.

The 2nd background is watercolor.

When you use a black cardstock to back your layers, they really POP!

The colors are my favorites!! Purples!!

I'm using a Mixed Media Art Journal to try my hand at these faces.

I did some collaging with teal paint on top before draying in the faces.

Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico. She dreamt of being a doctor. She was stricken by tragedy. She was in love with artist Diego Rivera, and then some. She is a style icon. She rarely cracked a smile. She was born & died in the Casa Azul.

Georgia O’Keeffe!

She was deeply interested in the natural world.
O’Keeffe married the art dealer and photographer who propelled her to fame.
Her marriage was marked with affairs.
O’Keeffe’s most famous works were her flower still-lifes.
She never stopped creating.
She always wanted to be an artist since she was a child.
She loved to draw nature from the backseat of a Model-A Ford.
She created more than 200 paintings of flowers.
She was 98 years old when she passed away.

One thing for sure-this is taking me out of my comfort zone. I have loads to learn. Need more practice!!!

An Ode to Women Challenge: Carmen Mondragon

I have run across a challenge I am going to join!! To stretch my skills, my painting, my eye/hand coordination. I enjoy drawing/painting people. I'm just not very good at it. I haven't practiced very much. Using this challenge to see what I can do.

They kindly gave us 8 samples.

Carmen Mondragon ‘One of the most beautiful and transgressive women of her time’. Mexican painter, poet and women’s activist was born in Tacubaya, Mexico City, Mexico. She died in the home of her birth, Tacubaya, Mexico City, Mexico aged 85.

I used DecoArt Premium paint in my art journal. I enjoyed the process. I hope you like it. It's good to go out of our comfort zone. I hope you'll consider it.

Let's Party With Unity Stamp

I love the slim line cards. Not sure why I've just found out about them.

There are several challenges going on using a slim line card. I used 3 1/2x 7.

I've use a Unity stamp for my Party Girl. Did some paper piercing for her clothes. Punched several balloons out for the sides. The designer paper really makes the card come together!

Just Us Girls

Simple and Easy Cards

Making cards with limited items, can be fun and easy.

Use what you have.

These first two cards were made using a couple of small stamps from Stampin Up.

You start by lightly tracing a circle in the middle of your white card stock.

Then I started stamping the butterflies around the circle-using different colors. I only used two colors, but had 2 different butterflies. Once I covered my circle, I used two small flowers to fill in the background.

I chose to keep the background white in this one.

These 3 cards at the bottom were quick and easy as well. I used my cricut and drew and cut the Praying for you sentiment. Used two different fonts. Used some of my left scraps for the first card.

I drew stripes in the sentiment to match my butterfly.

Colored pencils filled in this sentiment, stamped butterflies randomly around. Cut the butterfly out of a scrap piece of designer paper.

Word Art Wednesday Scripture transferred to canvas

I'm guest designing for Word Art Wednesday again!! The challenge is Anything Goes #470-471.

Christmas is such a special time of year. All the decorations, presents, family and fun. But there is so much more to Christmas than it being a holiday. Christmas is the time Christians celebrate the birth of our Saviour and King!

I love to incorporate scripture into my canvas paintings!!

Below is the FREE scripture being offered right now by Word Art Wednesday.

I started by applying DecoArt Matte Medium gel on my 12x12 flat board canvas.

I printed the scripture out on my printer full size. Tear off around the edges so you only have the words. Use a brayer to smooth out the paper into the gel medium. Let it dry overnight.

Next day, I spritzed water on top of the paper and started rubbing in circular motion around the paper. This takes a little time, so be patient. Soon, I had all the paper removed. I applied a thin coat and wiped off of the Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint Timeless. I dried it with my heat tool so I could sketch my design on top. Once the design was sketched, I add some Americana Decor Chalky Finish -color Legacy. Then painted in the image in Americana Black acrylic paint.

I love the result!! Will be displaying on my mantel!
