A new painting...

I found a chipboard at home that looked brown and boring. I took it as a challenge and decided to paint it ...

I really dislike abstract art that can be anything and nothing. But I do like colors and shapes. Therefore, Gustav Klimt, is one of my absolute favorites artists. You can see the people in the painting but the picture is still thick with plot. He makes it abstract and concrete at the same time. That's exactly what I'm going to do now ...

Right now I have just painted out the important sate outline with a pencil and started to paint. Since chipboard soaks up the oil in oil paint and make the color dull, I have chosen to base with acrylic instead because acrylic lies as a plastic film, and sticks to the chip. I will put oil color on after I sanded the acrylic base a bit so that it sticks well.

The phone rang...

"Sandra, you like birds, dont you?"
"I love birds."
"Good, come and pick them up, I have two and I can not have them anymore."
"What? No! I just like wild birds. Crows and such."
"Believe me, these are more wild than tame ..."
"I do not want to keep birds in the cage ..."
"You dont have to, let them fly around. They have not been out of the cage for more than two months."
"Then they poop everywhere. No. I really dont want the birds!"
"Please? Just a for a while until I am back on track again."
"Over my dead body! Birds should be free in the wild. What kind of sick people get a bird? Do you enjoy to see the symbol of freedom in a cage? I dont want them! etc., etc., etc. ...

Status right now: There are two cockatiels sitting on my computer screen, looking at my hands tapping the keys. Christian will go grazy when he comes home in april and find them here. But the kids are happy and I'm also pretty happy, I really like birds. Chicco and Charlie are probably happiest. They took their first flight in months today..

My photo session "Milk and Blood": I've sold some prints and now it will be a part of an exhibition this summer. I am so glad that people like it.

For those of you who have not been involved from the start I'll explain what's up. I wanted to illustrate the human being in liquid shape. I thought about what liquids would be good representatives and almost immediately I decided to use milk and blood. We need blood and we need nutrients.

Anyway, I published the pictures and immediately someone shouted (a man of course): "Nice, but you forgot the semen!" I would like to respond to that...

No, I did not forget the semen! It is an important symbol of life. And no, I have no ultra-feminist idea behind the exclusion of the genuine male part of this. There are two reasons why it could not be in the project.

1 aesthetic reasons.

2 for practical reasons.

Semen is a hopeless material to work with. What on earth do you do with an almost colorless fluid that behaves differently depending on temperature and other factors? You must be at least file. can. in chemistry to handle that. And what would I use to contrast a translucent slime blob?

The final problem is how to get it. Who would donate?

"Hey, could you be so kind and jerk off in this jar for me? I'm doing art ..."

It just did not work, sorry. Next time.

A tired little Vincent...

Is there anything more beautiful than a child in sleep? Something warm happends in my heart when I see a child with red cheeks and long eyelashes in sleep. Last spring I caught Vincent in that magic moment when he was far away in his dreamland. I sat for a moment and just looked at him before I took the picture. When he woke up a while later, he had marks on his cheek from the fabric structure. Adorable!

An autumn session...

Last fall, I took some photos of the very beautiful model Angelica Jansson for the first time. Normally I use my 18-55mm lens, but this time I used a "super lens" that blurs the background properly. I did not like the new lens. I found it difficult to balance the focus and the blur. So I just took some portrait shoots. Nothing spectacular by any means, but simple and beautiful..

"The ghost girl" is my pic!

It pops up frequently now. The image that I did with the girl in the white dress appears increasingly on the internet. People use the picture in their blogs, on facebook, flickr, etc. It makes me happy that so many people like it. But I feel sad when I find my picture where someone else has put their name on it, or when people just publishes it without mentioning my name.

I spent a lot of time on my pictures. It is always ok to borrow them for non-profit purposes without even asking me for permission, so I think it would be nice to at least mention the artist, preferably the right artist.

The girl in the picture is my daughter Victoria. I made the dress myself. I took the picture. Use it as much as you want, but please remember me.

Masks...

I'm a sucker for theater masks. It makes me think of the old masquerades that were popular among the upper class during the 15th/16th century with beautiful dresses and big wigs. When I was in Venice in 2011, I got an overdose of masks.

I've never tried to make one myself. But now when I cleaned out my studio at home, I saw that I actually have all the materials I need to make my own mask. I will make an attempt. Expect no miracles, it will be my first try.

Here is a collage of some of the masks that I found in the shops in Venice. They asked the tourists not to take pictures of their creations. It is like setting out a bowl of candy and then not let people taste it. I could not resist and took a few pictures anyway...

I celebrated new year's eve with my family in Gothenburg. The dinner was a success. Salmon for starters. Main course: roasted potatoes and sirloin steak with pepper sauce. Christian was the chef as usual. It is safer that way. I made the dessert which was a panna cotta with chocolate, coulis and fresh berries.

As you can see, I made some changes on the blog. Now you can read it in english as well as swedish. I hope you will like it.

I wish everyone a happy new year and I hope that 2013 will be an amazing year!
