Doing this layout was a little bitter sweet for me. I had to put Tigger to sleep in July of 2011 and scrapping these photos of him in 2010 was a little hard for me and there was also some crying involved. Six months after his death, I still miss him so. He was a mighty giant at over 26 lbs and my best bud. I wanted to write a lot, so I had to type up my journaling on the computer, instead of hand writing it. That also allowed me to get up and walk away for a bit and come back to it when I was able to again. For anyone who is scrapping a layout that is difficult emotionally, I highly recommend doing it on the computer. I think it made it a bit easier for me to get it done. I then printed it on some pretty and sparkly vellum (hard to see that in the photo) and then matted everything with Perfect Layers. I think it turned out very nice and this will look beautiful in my scrapbook album.

I have a heck of a time taking photos of double layouts! If anyone has any great tips, please post a comment here and let me know! Anyway...................lol! These are all photos of my furry and feathered friends acting naughty. The first one of Gus the golden & Bailey the cockatiel is really cute. I was holding Bailey and he decided he wanted to fly away. Well, his wings are clipped and the only place he went is down and had a furry pillow to land on. I have another photo some where (I can't find it) of Bailey walking up on the top of Gus's head and standing them. Thank goodness golden retrievers are so patient, loving, & forgiving. The one next to that one is of me getting Bailey & Sunset out of their cages and they had other ideas and got to the floor and wanted to play with Tigger's cat toy. The one below those two is of Tigger on the end of my recliner and giving me the evil eye because I am taking up to much room on MY recliner. On the second page (top photo), that is Gus in our bed. He knows he is not allowed on our bed! So I snapped that picture and then sent it to my husband at work to show him what a bad dog Gus is! The one below is of Tigger and Gus in our bed. Tigger is allowed on our bed and I guess this day Gus thought............if the cat can get on the comfy bed, so could he. And Tigger never much cared for any of the other animals, so I was shocked they were sleeping peacefully together. I have not caught Gus on our bed in a long time, but sometimes he likes breaking the rules.

Don't you just love that animal print paper?!? It is Anna Griffin metallic paper and I love all her metallics. And of course all my mats are done with Perfect Layers. I have been keeping it pretty simple while doing my pages, as I am so behind. However I am longing to get a bit more fancy. Hopefully, I can keep at it and officially be done with 2010 pictures and work into 2011.

My only New Year's resolution this year is to set aside some crafting time every week. So far, so good. Did you make any crafting resolutions? I would sure love to hear them! Please leave a comment and also tell me if you are still on track with your crafty resolution.

I had this girly girl paper and embellishments and I decided that what is better way to use them on a bunch of girly girl crafters scrapbook page. I have many more CHA Winter 2011 photos to scrapbook, but when I was digging around in my room and I found this stuff, I stopped what I was doing and scrapped this page. I am now learning that because I own so much paper and things, that if I come across something while looking for something else that will go with some photos on deck, I should grab them ASAP and create! By the time I eventually get to that project, I have forgotten where that paper and embellishments have gotten to! It sure feels good to be scrapbooking again!

In the top photo that is me pictured with another store owner friend, Cindy. I triple matted that photo with my Perfect Layers Ruler System and used three different sized mats to bring interest to the photo. I had to laugh at myself last night. I was struggling a bit to get my mats cut and then all of a sudden a light bulb went off. My craft knife was dull! Once I changed my blade, I was off and running and getting my mats done in no time. The bottom photo is of me and Jinger from Provo Craft. I was at a Cricut Circle Event when this photo was taken. This photo was only single matted, however it turned out just as good and then my little journaling box was matted using my Perfect Layers. I keep telling everyone, I use my rulers for everything! I even own a back up brand new set because I would cry if I had to mat the old fashioned way. Matting use to be one of the most frustrating things about scrapbooking for me because I am so anal. You may not notice my mat is off a smidge (in the olden days............lol!), but I did. I just can't say enough about this tool and your bang for the buck.

I need to get back to crafting because I am on a roll. I hope you enjoyed my page!

I'm wondering what Santa brought, just for me.

Could it be cardstock or chipboard or lace?
Or a cricut? I said with a smile on my face!

And that's when I heard him...''HI SANTA,'' I said.
"You know good little girls should be in their beds."

I know I should Santa, and now I've been caught!
But I was excited to see what you brought!

Well lets take a look in this room where you work.
He shook his head quickly and left with a jerk!

I heard him exclaim as he put it in gear...
You've got enough crap, I'll see you next year!

I think poor Santa has had to much to drink!
How in the world could it be possible to think,
I have too much crap......................LOL!

Merry Christmas Scrappy Friends.................and to you............a good night!
If I had been diagnosed twenty, or even ten years ago, who knows where I would be now or if I would even still be here with my family and also my friends. So much has changed due to research and funding through so many foundations and organizations. It is hard to believe that there was a time when a woman would have her breast(s) removed and if she wanted to “replace” them, she would have to spend thousands of dollars for plastic surgery. Thank goodness those days have passed and treatments have gotten better by leaps and bounds. I know, because I am a breast cancer survivor of six years now. So don’t be one of those people that just don’t want to know. Early detection is the key! The earlier breast cancer is detected and treated, the more your chances go up for survival. So all you ladies out there, go have your female health checked regularly and don’t be one of those people who think it can never happen to you. I was one of those people. I have no breast cancer history in my family, however it has to start somewhere and for my family, it has started with me. So on with my project for breast cancer awareness month!

For my project, I decided to make a card for someone who has be recently diagnosed with breast cancer:

For my card I used both stamp sets from the Ink Pink Collection by A Jillian Vance Design. One of the great things about these two sets is that there are a lot included (each set includes a 4” by 8” sheet of stamps in your choice of round or rectangle, a pink acrylic block, 5 pewter charms, 5 pear pins, a sample of wrinkle ribbon, and a free Vera Bradley Zip ID case) and part of the proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research. There are a lot of images that can be used all year around and for any cause (just stamp your ribbons in the appropriate color). I stamped my black frame using black ink and then used the “Hope” sentiment to stamp in the center of the frame and then also stamped the “Think Pink” sentiment. I got out my Cuttlebug and Spellbinder dies and cut them out and then went a bit further and cut some additional decorative elements with my Spellbinder dies to mount these too. I then decided I wanted some bling, so I decided my card base would be POW! glitter paper in charcoal and added some Kaisercraft rhinestones to the pretty black frame that I stamped. As you can see, Spellbinder dies work wonderfully with this set. After all my pieces were assembled, I wanted something else and that is when I spied the border stamp on the rectangular set! I used a border punch to have a fancy border and them stamped the ribbon/pray for a cure border twice across. They matched end to end perfectly! I glued everything down and I have just a beautiful card! I hope you enjoyed my project and please feel free to leave me a comment regarding the card or the subject.

Please make sure you leave comments along the way or ask any questions that you have. At the end of our hop we will be drawing a prize winner to win a Collection Kit from Echo Park Paper Company!! However you must complete the blog hop and leave a comment on each blog. The papers and collections used in this hop can be purchased over at the Cutters Creek online store. *BONUS* At the end of the hop, return to the Cutters Creek Design Team Blog and sign up for the Cutters Creek Store Newsletter (on the right side bar) and post that you did and get one more chance to win! (We will be verifying that you signed up.)

For my project, I decided to use the new 6x6 Dots & Stripes Christmas Echo Park paper pad and the Layered Chipboard from the new Echo Park Holly Jolly Collection:

I removed my Santa from the layered chipboard sheet and decided to "doll" him up a bit. I added Polar White Flower Soft to the pom pom and trim on his hat. I then used Icicle Stickles on the buttons on his coat for some sparkle. I then removed my sentiment from the same sheet and added a dot of Icicle Stickles in the center of the poinsettia. I set all that aside and started cutting my card pieces. I cut a piece of striped paper from the 6x6 paper pad down a bit and adhered that down as my background. Since I used a muted gray, I decided to add some more paper elements to give my card a little "pop" and color. I used a green dotted paper and cut two triangles for two opposing corners on the card front. I love using Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive to put cards together, as you can slide things around a bit to get them just so, before the glue grabs. Although, please remember this adhesive only works well with cardstock so please don't try it with scrapbook paper! Then I got my Cuttlebug and Spellbinder dies out and cut a plain circle in another dotted paper choice from the pad and a scalloped circle in silver glitter cardstock from American Crafts. I attached the two circles together with Scor Tape (mounting items on American Crafts Glitter Cardstock needs a sticky adhesive), and now I had a perfect frame to show off my Santa! Once my Santa was dried, I pulled off the adhesive backing on my Layered Chipboard piece and attached it to my circular frame. Then for further dimension, I attached all this with foam squares. Then I took off the backing and attached my sentiment. I then thought I needed something more, like ribbon, however that just didn't seem quite right. So I decided to grab some Flower Soft Peel Offs and put those around my card front to frame it off for my final "tada!". This card was so simple to make and when making holiday cards, I really like simple because I make so many of them. All it took was a 6x6 Dots & Stripes Christmas Echo Park Paper pad and one of their Layered Chipboard packs, and a few supplies from my stash. I hope you enjoyed my project! And please don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win.

Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene has been rough on a lot of us on the East Coast. When you lose electricity, you lose so many things that you take for granted each day that are just "there". Running water was the one thing that was the hardest for us. We could not clean, give animals fresh water, flush, cook, and so much more. You also find out that you have to communicate with people the old fashion way, actually talk face to face. I think our world of internet and smart phones has made it so we no longer have to interact with people the old fashion way. I for one, loved running into strangers and chit chatting as we all were searching for water and ice. So I am one to have any excuse to craft and Irene gave me that chance. I made this wedding card for our neighbors. They are getting married next week. Since I had so much time on my hands, I really put a lot into this card, including time. I am more of a scrapbooker, so as my card morphed before my very eyes, I was so pleased I spent the time I did on it. Here is the front of the card:

I used an Ecstasy Craft kit for the wedding image and put that together with foam squares. I then hunted through my massive paper stash and found a piece of pearlized 12x12 paper and some American Crafts glitter cardstock in ocean. I cut down the white paper to a 5x7 card base. I then took one of my punches and created a lacy edge down the front of the card. I then took my butterfly punch and punched a butterfly and glittered it and added KaiserCraft pearls in denim for his little body. I mounted my Ecstasy Crafts image on the glitter cardstock and also cut a strip and adhered it to the inside edge of my card. I then attached my butterfly with foam squares under the wings to make it look like it was in flight and then added some more denim pearls on the bottom front of the card.

Here is the interior:

On the interior I took a piece of the leftover pearlized paper and stamped a sentiment and found a scrolly heart stamp and stamped that below the sentiment and added tiny denim pearls to each end of the scroll and in the four corners of the sentiment and mounted that on glitter cardstock. I also took one of my bonus images in my Ecstasy Crafts kit and mounted it on glitter card stock and adhered it to the interior as well.

All in all, I am pretty pleased with my finished card and took so much time as I know the bride will save all her cards she receives.

All of these items can be purchased at Cutters Creek!

I have not been posting much lately, as the untimely death of Tigger (my beloved cat) took me by surprise. Just this week, my mom sent some goodies over from the Amish Market and she had sent some of their wonderful home baked white bread which is just so delish! I love eating either egg salad or tuna on this bread and since we were just about out of eggs, I decided on tuna. Little did I know grabbing a can of tuna for lunch would send me in another round of crying and depression over my loss, as Tigger always loved his "fish" and always drank the water I would drain from my can. (I would also slip him a couple of hunks in there too!) Whew! I am feeling a tad more normal now and just know this particular sadness will last me a lifetime. I just need time to heal, although more than I had ever thought :)

Anyway, back to my project! I have been crafting since Tigger's death on July 25th, just not posting. And as one more side note, paper crafting REALLY is cheaper than therapy and takes you away to another world and very happy places. So I made this snow globe using the Flower Soft Globes and the Aperture Cards & Envelope pack. The scene is from one of Flower Soft's Topper packages. I cut all the pieces out and used foam squares to give the picture dimension. Then I added Polar White Flower Soft on the edges of the church, used my clear Sakura Gelly Roll pen to add shine to the large star above and dotted on the little stars as well. (This does not convey well in the photo, however in person the shine is awesome!) Then I added a little spoon of the Polar White Flower Soft, so when you shake the card, it looks like it is snowing. After putting the globe together with the aperture card (I used Scor Tape), I used some of the Flower Soft Peel Offs to finish off the card and the sentiment, which was also popped up with foam squares.

Everything on this card can be purchased at my store, Cutters Creek. Please leave me a comment, as I need a bit of cheering on to start loading more of my projects to my blog!

On July 25th at approx 10:30 am, Tigger passed away peacefully in my arms as I held and talked to him. I have lost many pets over the years, however this is one that hit me so very hard. Tigger was a mighty cat, strong of will and character. At 26.4 lbs he was a tremendous presence and the alpha male in our home. Even our large dogs respected and feared this mighty cat. I rescued Tigger at 3 months old in July of 1999 and we had 12 wonderful years together. Tigger was a fighter and a lover. I have so many wonderful memories of our time together and all his funny quirks and antics through the years. It was really hard to put Tigger to sleep and relieve him of his misery, however I know exactly how he lived and wanted to live. He would not have liked all the battery of tests and treatments that I would have had to put him through and with little hope of the recovery I so desperately wanted and needed for him. My head says we did the right thing and that Tigger is now romping and playing at Rainbow Bridge and will wait for me there, he suffers no more. But my heart is broken in a million pieces and I want him back and here with me. I will always remember the moment when I had him wrapped in one of our towels and the vet gave him the medicine that made him a little sleepy before giving him the final injection. I held him like a baby and he looked over to me and put his face on my chest. I talked to him and told him how much I loved him and told him there would be plenty of tuna and treats where he was going. I think he liked that.

When I looked at Tigger, what I always saw was my little boy in his jammies............Goodbye my furry friend.......................you will always be carried in my heart for as long as I live......................until we meet again.......................

Our challenge over at the Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog was Summer Flowers. Since I have so many hydrangeas blooming all over out yard, I picked this image to color with my copics. It is a gorgeous Anna Griffin stamp. I used my Spellbinder dies to cut and mat the image and added some pearls and rhinestones to set it off and used some pretty purple ribbon to bring it all together. The background paper is Dotted Swiss by Bazzill. This was such an easy card to make and I just love how it turned out.

I have finished the heritage album my mom wanted me to do for her brother! I have done a youtube video of it so I have some type of record of it being completed for myself. I am so glad it is done and I made my deadline which was Tuesday evening, although it has now changed to Thursday evening. Yeah me! I really did not like putting the stickers in the book my mom bought and tried to explain to her that these were not something I would but in a heritage album. The flourish stickers weren't too bad, however you can see I used grunge board flourishes and painted them brown. The Martha Stewart pansies weren't too bad either, but again, I would not have used them. The ladybug stickers were the worst, ugh! But mom wanted them in there so I put them in. So please tell me what you think good or bad and if you have any suggestions when I do my own 12x12 scrapbook pages. Or should I do mine similar to these? Thank you for looking!!!

Here is my project for the Scrappy Frogs Challenge Blog this month. Our challenge was anything red! And since I love my dogs, I decided to use them for my red challenge. The paper is My Minds Eye Festive & Frost and Bazzill Dotted Swiss. I cut the words with SCAL and the frames behind them were cut from my Cricut Imagine. I also used a Martha Stewart punch and added Kaisercraft rhinestones to it in red and used another Martha Stewart punch for my borders. I used my Epiphany Crafts Button Maker to make the button and used ribbon from my stash to make a couple of ribbons. This project took me no time to do at all and is a wonderful addition to my scrapbook!

My Mom asked me to do another heritage book for her brother who is visiting next week. Although I have little time to do the book, it has been a scrapbooker's dream to work with all these heritage photos from my family going back to the 1800's and know their names too. Apparently my mother has a whole treasure trove of these items that I am just learning about and I had to give her the whole lecture about documenting all of this and the stories before it all dies with her, as I would have had no clue who most of these people are, except my own grandparents, maybe. So now I know what my great and great great grandmother look like. I have had people ask me to show the pages when they are completed, so here are the first seven. I apologize for the quality, as I have one week left to finish before the book is turned over to my Uncle, however I have scanned all the photos and will be doing scrapbook pages for myself and will have more time to take photos for everyone to see. As it is, I took these with my iPhone and forgot to clean the lens...........ooppss! So at least you can get an idea of what I am doing and now I need to get back to work.

So if you know me, you know I am a breast cancer survivor. This evening (today happens to be my husband's birthday also-happy birthday baby!) I walked in my 6th Survivor Walk in the Relay For Life, which also marks the month of my 6th year of surviving breast cancer. The Survivor reception was very nice. We got ziti in a tomato sauce sprinkled with parmesan cheese, ceasar salad, and garlic bread for dinner and had a choice of dessert. And our survivor speaker told us of her journey 20 years ago, fighting ovarian cancer. Every year our t-shirts purple, however this year our t-shirts were sponsored by the American Cancer and their "Happy Birthday" campaign. I am sure you have seen those commercials where they are singing "Happy Birthday" to all us survivors. Every time I hear one of those commercials, I smile even though getting older is not the most thrilling thing with body parts just not quite the same as they were once upon a time..........lol! However every birthday is a gift and every day a joy, even the bad ones. So no matter the aches and the pains and no matter the frustations in every day life, each day is a gift. Each day is to be lived and cherished. And never forget to stop and smell the roses...........................

I finally finished the scrapbook page when I met Anna Griffin for the first time at CHA Summer 2010. This page has been in the works now for several weeks. I guess the pressure of doing Anna Griffin justice was way too much for me.................lol! Most of the products I used to create this page, were items of hers that I have purchased over time. All I can say is I felt so unworthy and had a serious lack of creativity when it came to doing this page. So now it is done and I hope when I get to the photo of us at CHA Winter 2011, I will feel more relaxed and feel just a tad more worthy. Anna is just as sweet in person, as she seems on programs like QVC (in the old days) and HSN. My next card kit that I ordered on auto ship from HSN is on the way, and I can't wait to get my hot little hands on it. The first kit in the series was so fab and I have already mailed out over half of those cards that I put together, so can't wait to get the next three kits. So for all the people who have affectionately called this page my "stalker page", here you go ladies! It is done!
