From IQ to EQ in the Age of AI
As artificial intelligence makes knowledge, analysis, technical skills and problem-solving universally accessible, the true differentiator for organizations and individuals will no longer be IQ intelligence… it will be EQ, emotional intelligence. In this thought-provoking and actionable keynote, Jeff Kreisler – two-time bestselling author and Global Head of Behavioral Science for JP Morgan – shares the frameworks for harnessing insights about human behavior which will be key to this new era. It’s no longer enough to just know what our customers, colleagues and partners do… we must also understand why. Discover how empathy, trust, and ethical decision-making are developed, and why those who truly understand people will be best positioned to lead in a future where intelligence is abundant, but humanity is irreplaceable.

Not that I’m not busy nor do I not have things to say. I’m just old, have kids, don’t have as much hair as I should and man! do I love trying to catch up on sleep.

I think I’m still funny, still talking decision-making in finance and everything else, still screaming at windmills and charging at clouds and still delusionally optimistic and idealistic despite all evidence to the contrary.

Also, here’s some recent MEDIA featuring me:

Okay. It’s me. I haven’t done it. I’m SORRY! It’s been… hectic? Exhausting? Something rough? But, here I am, telling you where my words and brains have been. Enjoy?

• I was on this apparently extremely popular podcast, Standard Deviations with Daniel Crosby. Talking money and whatnot.

• Wake up! I was in Morning Brew, which is a thing that might be awesome.

• What nation-states have professed their love of our book lately?
The French, The Polish and – rule of three – the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. OKAY!

• You ‘member how I got hired by JP Morgan to build a behavioral science practice / make sweet jokes? Here are some things I’ve done for them (there’s more, mostly sweet jokes, but I can’t include them all):

Hi. I’m a, heh, “thought leader.” Heh.
#I’mSoTired

Forbes Advisor stole my brain twice:
– on the pay off debt v. save for retirement debate
– on creating weekly allowances… for adults!

The Washington Post exploited my head-noodle on shopping/saving/Amazon Prime Day:
– “The dirty secret of Amazon Prime Day: Shoppers aren’t saving as much as they think”

Business Insider put my head in a vice as was like “What do you know about the benefits of couples automating their finances?”
– And I was all like, “Ouch.”

Investopedia just time traveled and said our 2017 book was the Best Finance Book of 2021.
– “An engaging read, which seamlessly combines scientific evidence with entertaining real-world examples… Unlike many behavioral economics and pop psychology books, “Dollars and Sense” not only outlines the problematic way humans approach money by default, but also provides real actionable advice to help all of us overcome our irrational money habits.”

And don’t forget, we were an answer on Jeopardy!

November 30 was my last day as Editor-in-Chief of PeopleScience. (I’m now “Founding Editor” ooooh.)

I am sad to move on, but eternally grateful to Charlotte Blank and Maritz for giving me the opportunity to build something unique, inspiring, engaging and (**removes self-deprecation filter**) important… and I’m extremely proud that our team was able to do just that. Thank you.

I’ve been on a lot of creative projects – too many! – and they rarely end “well.” Canceled, underfunded, under consumed, talent conflicts, dumb decisions. This is one where I leave head held high.

PeopleScience will continue stronger and better without me. Like a parent sending my baby off to school, I trust it will thrive and I hope you’ll follow and support it with me.

As for me…

I am now Head of Behavioral Science for JP Morgan Chase.

I’m excited to join my skills, experience and network of superstars (YOU!) with the vast reach, resources and enthusiasm of JPM to help everyone make better financial decisions, lower stress and, ultimately, live happier, more secure and better lives.

There will also be jokes.

We’ll see how that all goes.
