Since moving to Missouri, my fiance Chris and I have been working on officially launching our freelance photography business and website. After several months of work, the site is finally live! Check it out at: www.MacklerMedia.com.

About Us: MacklerMedia is a partnership between photojournalists Kristin Eberts and Chris Mackler, both of whom attended Ohio University, receiving degrees in visual communication, with majors in photojournalism. We photograph weddings, portraits, events and more! We are located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and currently accept work in the Southern Illinois and Southeastern Missouri region and beyond.

I recently made the trek to Georgia for the Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar. It was great seeing friends again, but I couldn’t help but notice that most of the speakers and workshops were geared much less toward working for a publication and much more toward freelancing and making it on your own. I guess that says a lot about the current state of the industry…

It wasn’t the Nikon 600mm lens or the Canon 5D Mk II catching people’s eyes…it was Rob’s $40 plastic Fujifilm camera (that seems to have the monopoly on instant film since Polaroid stopped making theirs) that had everyone amazed. I swear, everyone who saw this camera had to play with it!
