Only few of us now remember that on 23 March 1931, Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh was hanged along with Raj guru, and Sukhdev. Bhagat Singh was born in Jat Sikh family in India, as a teenager he studied European revolutionary movements and was attracted to anarchism and communism. He was famous among the youth and is still remembered among the famous freedom fighters in India. here is a small tribute to him and the other men who fought for our country

Freida Pinto Saved a Fan’s Life

Freida Pinto is a delicate and loving girl but she appeared her fearless face when she saved a fan’s life from an accident.

The incident took place when Freida Pinto and Dev Patel both “Slumdog Millionaire” couple star was enjoying a drive on London Regent Street. In the meantime a fan approached towards them for an autograph but they could not see her and accidentally knocked her on the road.

Knowing that the female was on the road Freida jumped outside the car and stopped the forthcoming car towards the woman. The gutsy Freida not only saved her fan’s life but later on she also helped her to move.

Clarifying the news a source said, “Freida was being distracted by photographers, didn’t see the woman and walked right into her. Freida ran into the road, stopped an approaching car and made sure the woman was all right.”

Teach for India

Opportunity of aiding for making a literate India is in your hand now. Guys and girls are openly invited to join this movement. Teach for India (TFI) is looking for serious final year students and young professionals for two years full time fellowship program.

The movement is focused on selecting about 150 young leaders from across India and the world who, in the short-run, will teach for two years, and in the long-run become advocates for educational equity.

The entire thing is explained by Shaheen Mistry, CEO of TFI. He said, “Teach For India can change this nation for every child by building a movement of leaders who understand the challenges first hand, develop the skills and mindset to tackle it, and work relentlessly through their lives to maximize every child’s potential.”

TFI is a movement to bridge the education gap in India. Country’s outstanding college graduates and young professionals will teach in low income school for two years. Quality education is the main motto of the movement. Teach for India aims to place hundreds of fellows in the country’s top metropolitan cities and their surrounding rural areas.

The participants of this fellowship will be trained by the innovative teaching methods and leadership. After two years, the fellows will be supported by Teach for India in their search for corporate and social sector jobs, to work in the government, or to join higher educational institutions.

I really think this is a great cause and each one of us should try to participate and help in bringing the smile back on the faces of these underprivileged children.

The Divas Return on the Silver Screen

Bollywood Divas start their second innings, after a long time, actresses like Aishwarya, Sushmita and of course Rani Mukherji are back to woo their audiences. Starting with the Bachhan bahu, whom we last saw in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s “jodha Akbar”(2007). Between these times she has done some Hollywood projects but vanished from commercial hindi cinema. Again Sush’s last film was “Karma and the Holi” with her ex boy friend Randep Hooda. But the film failed both critically and in box office. It was a low budget film that failed to pull the crowd.

Moving on to Rani Mukherji, her last film was “Laaga Chunri Mein Daag” and critics told that the film was like” old wine in a new bottle”. Because she was doing repeatedly same rona dhona (tears shedding) character and people were tired seeing her in same kind of avatar. So after two and half years she is back with “Dil Bole Hadippa”. She is looking absolutely stunning in the promos, as she finally shed those extra pounds.

The competition has become very tough. Today’s actors work hard to maintain their curves. Report says that physical fitness really helps an actor to give shape to a character. As an example, Shahid’s new look for “Kaminey” has helped him to essay the character of Charlie. Again piggy chops (Priyanka Chopra) have 12 different looks (a world record) in her forthcoming “What’s Your Rashee”. It was her challenge to portray different character with same elegance. Change happens with the fleeting nature of time. Bollywood is also not the exception. Bollywood films are finally setting a new trend films like “What’s Your Rashee” and “Wake up Sid”.

So, these heroines are keen to rewind their box office collection with new interesting projects and efforts! But will they be able to survive in the rat race with young bombshells like Katrina, Deepika, and Priyanka? Let, the time speaks.

Efforts Being Made to Strengthen the Science Education

In an effort to strengthen science education in the country, an inter-institutional collaborative project, ‘Enrichment of Resource Material for Science Education,’ was recently launched in the Capital. The project attempts to reconceptualise science resource material and focus on the potential and scope of ‘science kits’ to popularize the subject. These low cost portable science kits vary depending on level, theme or even needs.

The project has been jointly undertaken by the National Council of Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Ministry of Science and Technology; Unesco, Central Institute of Education (CIE), Delhi University; and Society for Education and Social Development (SESD). The project also has an active involvement of experts from the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) Mumbai, Delhi University Centre for Science Education and Communication, Institute for Life Long Learning (ILLL) Delhi University, Jamia Milia Islamia University, colleges of Delhi University, IP University, Ignou, DIETS, schools of Delhi, among others.

While announcing the launch of the project, Warren Mellor, director, Unesco, said that the outcomes of the project would have an impact not only at a national level but in other countries as well. On teacher education, Mohd Akhtar Siddiqui, chairperson, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), emphasized that it’s the teachers who make all the difference in making a subject interesting and not textbooks or curriculum, hence, they need to be empowered. “This project would validate the science resources and also popularize them across the country,” he added.

The focus of the project would be to pedagogically evaluate the sampled science kits from sources like department of science and technology (DST), HBCSE, NCERT and to enrich them further. The kits would be accompanied by manuals/handbooks and ICT backup so that it can be further disseminated. These packages would be tried out with teacher educators, teachers and students in schools of Delhi, to begin with, and also with community based organizations.

Elaborating further, US Sharma, general secretary, Society for Education and Social Development, said: “The project will be completed in two phases and we also plan to take it to an international level.”
