I really like this flash unit. The reason is simple: it is small and unobtrusive. Most flashes add weight and bulk to a camera, and I often find myself deciding not to attach the outboard flash to my DSLR. This flash, by contrast, is small and barely noticeable on my D80 or D200.
This is a no-frills flash that simply does its job and does it quite well. It supports Nikon's excellent iTTL flash system. Granted, if you are shooting a wedding or some other professional engagement, this would not be the flash of choice; the SB600 or SB800 would do better. But for casual shooting where more than the built-in flash is needed, this unit is extremely nice to have. And of course by using this unit instead of the built-in flash of one's camera, the user can get more shots from the camera since the flash does not drain the camera batteries.
The unit uses convenient AA batteries, which of course are readily available. I'll take this over those sometimes hard-to-find exotic batteries that some flashes use. It is well-constructed and with a guide number of 21, does a good job. Highly recommended.

My Nikon ownership goes back over 30 years to the days when cameras were made of metal and carrying one with a few lenses tested your stamina.
Times sure have changed. There's hardly a metal camera to be found and you can carry a bag full of equipment in one hand. The Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor is the latest lightweight from this heavyweight of the camera industry.
Plastic construction right down to its lens mount. This thing looks and feels like the label should say Fisher Price and not Nikon. However, looks can be deceiving as I soon found out.
My only reason for buying this lens was that I needed to fill a void in my kit until I saved up enough for a 70-200mm f2.8. I had no intention of keeping the 55-200 VR once the 70-200 arrived.
After shooting with the 55-200 for a few months I've come to appreciate what it can do. It's limited to use in good light as even VR can't change the laws of physics. In this case, it's not even the current VR-II but the original VR that Nikon developed a few years ago.
With sufficient light and good technique, the 55-200 is capable of very good performance. No, it's not as sharp and contrasty as the 70-200. It's also not going to survive the bad weather or a few solid knocks that professional use would expose it to.
Where the 55-200 excels is in its portability and above average performance. For travel or just walking around, it would be hard to beat this lens if it's used within its limits. I use mine on a D80 and have no problem getting excellent 13x19" prints.
As an added bonus, it works very well with the Nikon CL3T closeup lens and does double duty as a macro zoom. Again, it's not a substitute for a real macro zoom like the Nikon 70-180, but it's not intended to be.
Given my original opinion of this lens, I have to admit that I've gotten much more than my money's worth out of it. Instead of selling it, I'm going to keep it and use it when my 70-200 is just to big and heavy to carry around.
If you're on a budget or just want a nice, lightweight lens in this range, take a look at the Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR. Like me, you may be very much surprised at what it can do.

I looked for awhile for a camera that provided me with a great zoom. This camera didn't zoom as much as my old one, but because of the high MP, it actually takes better pictures and when I crop pictures it's a much clearer picture. I love it and the color !

I purchased this to hold my photography gear. The case itself is fantastic and I would give it 5 Stars. The issue I have is with the padded dividers. First-of-all the photo of the divider is different from what you get but that is not my main concern: What bothers me is that there is absolutely NO/ZERO padding on the bottom of the dividers. Therefore, if you put your lenses on the dividers your lenses will hit directly against the bottom of the hard case wall. Considering most of my lenses are f/2.8 I was not willing to take this risk so I called Pelican and they had me take photos of the padded dividers and send it to them. The called me back within the same day and told me the padded dividers that I have are a very very old version they used to supply with the 1514 case. Thus, apparently the supply of 1514 cases that Amazon currently has are very old but other than the padded divider rest of the case appears to be identical to the current generation. I was going to return the case to Amazon but Pelican said they would send me a padded insert to place on the bottom of the case for free so I am keeping the case and will see if the insert Pelican sends me resolves the issue- if not, I will send this case back to Amazon and will purchase the case directly from Pelican so stay tuned.

I was looking for a nice Point n shoot camera and when I found this newly released product from the Canon family I knew it's going to be a great product. Today I received it and has taken some 50 pics with it, and I must tell you it's really cool.
I should tell you that I own D60 DSLR and also has some L lens. But I wanted to have a nice Point and Shoot which I can just take it when I really don't want to carry my big D60.
- This Camera feels like a nice touch screen phone in your hand, light and sleek. And it does have many features that you get on many smartphone, like setting your colors, themes, shutter sound, switch on sound etc.
- It's built quality is much better than many other Point and shoot that I have used in the past.
- The touch screen is not really good, may be we have used so many nice smart phones with touch screen that we now expect every touch screen product to work like a iPhone. But once you get used to the behavior you would find it okay.
- I really like the fact that you can just connect this to Wi-fi and share your pics directly to Facebook or can also email. No more connecting the cable to transfer the photos.
- The screen is really nice and feels strong. It would not really need a screen protector, but I think I may get one for extra protection. But I feel it may not get scratches that easily.
The only thing that I would have liked is better manual. It wasn't easy to figure out the settings to set up your Facebook and email account on this camera.
Overall I think Canon has got another great product and would be a definite hit.

I tried the HD Video with this camera and recorded few video ranging from very short to 10-15 mins. The Video quality and auto focus is really nice.
However I think with touch screen and Wi-fi the battery life is compromised. It may not last as long as with the conventional camera.

This lens is superb for showing Depth Of Field and portraits without a flash. I've read reviews that stated the lens is made of plastic ... it is actually made of aluminum. This lens was specifically designed for the Sony alpha series of DSLR cameras. I struggled between the 1.4, 50mm lens and this one and this won out. I am in no way disappointed in my choice ... I am a dog trainer, and I frequently need to send video to my client to show them how their dog is progressing. Previously I just set up a flip video and was careful to stay in frame while training the dogs, but that is very difficult to do. When I heard about the Swivl I thought it might be a good fix for my filming dilemma. I did my first filming with my flip video, because my iphone in the otterbox would not fit into the base. I did have some troubles with the base "losing" me for a bit as I moved around with the dogs, but Swivl customer service was very responsive and helped me to make better video. I then found the Kungl iphone case which let me protect my iphone and put it into the Swivl base. One of the issues I had with the Swivl, the fact it does not pan up/down automatically, is about to be changed with a software change to be able to be made automatic. I like that improvements to the system can be done through software updates.
Whenever I have had an issue or a question the Swivl folks have gotten back with me very quickly, by email or by calling me. I think this is a good product that will get better via software improvements with the feedback we early users are providing.

Prequel: I am coming from a strict Nikon background and due to having my $4000 kit(D80, 3 VR, 3 2.8 pro lenses, etc) stolen out of my car, am starting all over again. That being said, I don't have $4000 to plop down at once, so I decided to get an "entry to mid-level" system and after many internal battles, decided to try something different and go with the Alpha system. My thoughts were if things didn't work out with this setup, I haven't spent that much and could use it for a carry-around camera. So far I see absolutely NO reason to go back to Nikon. Yes, this system is THAT good.
Sony 75-200mm f/4.5-5.6 Lens: Wow. I sincerely cannot BELIEVE this lens is only $229! As many reviews point out, this lens has virtually ZERO distortion from 75mm all the way up to 300mm and purple fringing(CA) is contained nicely. Needless to say, for a lens at this price point to preform this well is unheard of. This lens combined with the super quick AF of the a200 is a perfect marriage. I compared this to the super sharp Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR, and although the Nikon is a bit sharper and performs better in low light, the IQ difference is surprisingly small. I can highly recommend this lens and the Sony Alpha system as a whole!

We bought this printer to make hard copies of dental X-rays. It replaced a $1,000+ Xerox printer. The staff is very happy with it, they say the print quality is much better than the old Xerox, but it does take about 90 seconds to print a full page glossy X-ray at maximum quality. The old Xerox would take about 10 seconds to print the same image.
If high photo quality and fast business printing are a must I would look elsewhere, but if you can wait 60 to 90 seconds for a full page highest quality photo print - it is a great printer and well perfectly in our office.

I purchased these tripod legs along with the 488RC4 ballhead, and I've been very happy with both.
I use this 'pod with a Canon 40D with a battery grip and a variety of lenses. No problems--this tripod holds everything fine, even in horizontal position.
The tripod offers great flexibility--I chose it because of how easy it is to flip the center column horizontal. This is a must-have feature if you're into macro, and very helpful for everyone else too. Makes ultra-low angle shooting a breeze. There's a built in bubble level which becomes redundant if using the 488RC4 head, but if you opt for a head without any levels it could be useful, although I should point out it's way easier to adjust your head to be level than your legs, regardless of brand.
The 055XProB is rated to something like 15.4 lbs--so of course it's a little heavy. I don't get why so many complain about that--if you need this level of support and you don't want the weight, sorry--you just have to fork over the $$ for a carbon fiber.

It's a great, pro-level tripod that will handle just about any DSLR equipment you can mount on it. Also use it with your medium format gear, and I think it could even handle some large format equipment.
I did tons of research before buying this. There are some other good options out there if you aren't particular about the horizontal column thing, namely the Slik 700 Pro DX. Check it out. It's got rave reviews, and is considerably cheaper. Also there are Induro tripods which have the center column option. I have tried some in a camera store, and they are very sturdy.

Excellent filter!
I have had many filters in the course of almost 50 Years photography, including numerous Polarizer filters. This one however is astounding in results and Quality. I have (due to special circumstances) been lucky enough to be able to shoot and compare shots with this one, and other shots taken immediately after that with a selection of other brands!
This one however was a clear winner, NO doubt about it!
It is a little more in price, but in my estimation it is worth it.

Circular polarizing filters are made for all cameras with beam splitters in the light paths of their TTL exposure meter and with autofocus lenses. Circular polarization has the same pictorial effect as linear polarization, but allows for proper exposure metering and/or autofocus distance settings.

Käsemann polarizing foils are neutral in color, have a higher efficiency than conventional polarizing foils, and are cemented between high-grade plano-parallel optical glass, using a special cementing technique that resists delamination in humid climates. The resulting sandwich is then precision-polished again to achieve highly accurate plano-parallel surfaces. Discriminating photographers regard the B+W Käsemann Polarizer as the very best polarizer on the market. They are well suited for applications that require the highest possible imaging quality, especially with high-speed telephoto lenses and apochromatic lenses.

B+W Polarizers increase color saturation and reduce reflections. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is positioned in relation to the sun. Exposure compensation is about two f-stops.

Why Use a Circular Polarizer?

Modern DSLR cameras have a beam-splitting prism that sends part of the incoming light to the meter and part to the viewfinder. The effect is that the light entering the meter is partially polarized by the beam-splitter. A linear polarizer placed on the lens of such a system will act as a second polarizer and block light to the meter by a degree dependent on the angle between the prism and the polarizer on the lens. The result is incorrect exposure/aperture values from the meter. That's why you need a circular polarizer with such cameras. The circular polarizer circumvents this problem by adding of a 1/4-wave retarder, or delay foil. This ensures that the linearly polarized light is changed into a rotation that appears unpolarized to the meter, resulting in proper exposure/aperture readings.

MRC - A Special Scratch-Resistant, Water and Dirt Repelling Coating

The lens elements of high-quality lenses and the plano surfaces of filters require a perfect shape and smoothness to achieve the best optical quality. Dirt, greasy fingerprints, water marks and scratches reduce the image contrast and the sharpness, which can result in blooming at light sources and have an effect similar to a soft-focus lens. A clean front lens element and clean filter surfaces are therefore an absolute pre-requisite for demanding photographers.

MRC coating causes water
to bead up and slide right off.
The MRC coating is first and foremost a broadband anti-reflection coating. This means that its reflection-reducing effect, which is thus also a transmission-increasing effect, i.e. one which suppresses scattered light and ghost images and transmits more light, has a broadband action over the full spectrum. In contrast, the (almost always blue) single-layer coating only has a high effect in the medium wavelength range around yellow and yellow-green where the eye is most sensitive to light, while its effect is greatly reduced toward the blue-violet and purple-red end regions of the visible spectrum. With the MRC coating, this blue, violet and red to deep-red light cannot produce any contrast reducing scattered light, spotty reflections or ghost images. A broadband effect can only be achieved with a multilayer coating which requires a much higher effort and precision because unevenness and irregularities of the individual layers build up on one another and amplify one another. Schneider therefore uses a plasma-assisted evaporation coating process in which inert gas ions accelerated in an electrical field compact the material deposited on the lens surface in the vacuum chamber.

For photographers, the main advantage of MRC coating, is it's ability to combat flare and ghosting. An added benefit is that their filters remain free of dirt longer, so that they do not have to be cleaned so often. When cleaning the filter does become necessary, it is a lot easier to wipe off the dirt with a blower brush, because of MRC's ability to repel dirt and moisture. This also reduces the risk of micro-scratches which can occur during cleaning.

F-Pro Brass Filter Mount

This filter uses a rotating B+W F-Pro filter mount for added creative options. The mount has a front accessory thread and is made of brass. Compared to the earlier standard mount, the F-Pro mount, introduced in 2001, has become thinner. Now it can be used with wide angle lenses, including most 24mm focal lengths on a full frame body, without vignetting. Another advantage of the F-Pro mount is its modified retaining ring, which is no longer threaded in from the front, but holds the filter glass in place from the back. When removing a filter or lens hood that has been screwed on too tight to the filter, the retaining ring is not at risk of loosening.

Circular polarizing filters are made for all cameras with beam splitters in the light paths of their TTL exposure meter and with autofocus lenses. I bought this case for a dive trip to Cozumel. I read both of the other reviews on Amazon (a one star and five star), and was a little concerned about the price vs. the value of the case.
I purchased this case for $197 on another site and had absolutely no problems. The features of the camera are limited, but for underwater photographs and video and had absolutely no problems. There was no fogging of the lens and my pictures were clear. I dove to 70 feet without any leaks.
Definitely worth the price for the memories of diving in Cozumel.

This is my first Contour camera, and I was lucky that just at the time I decided to get one, the new ROAM 2 came out. The reason I like the ROAM2 over the original ROAM (which can now be had much cheaper) is for the 60 fps filming in 720p. This will produce smoother video, especially if you like to use slow motion effects now and then.
The ROAM 2 comes in attractive packaging and includes: 1 profile mount; 1 rotating flat surface mount; lanyard tether; USB cable; lens cap; 4GB MicroSD card; storage pouch and lens cloth.
Initial tests of the ROAM 2 in 720p @ 60fps and full HD 1080p @ 30fps are very impressive. At 720p you will have a view angle of 170 degrees, which gives you a wide panorama but some fisheye effect (to be expected at that width). In 1080p the view angle is reduced to 125 degrees, which still gives a nice wide view, but much less fisheye. The quality of the video image is very good. In full 1080p it is ultra-sharp and the colors are very good. The automatic white balance in the camera is also extremely good, and will self-adjust to present very true colors even indoors.
Operation of the ROAM 2 is very simple, via the one large "On-Record / Off" button on top of the camera. The mounting options available for Contour cameras is very good, but still could be a bit better. They have the snow and water sports covered, as well as skateboarders, bikers, etc. But I intend to use mine primarily to capture POV video from shooting sports, and there is still a lack of good mounts for that. A mount designed for a hat bill that would allow the Contour to lie flat via the rails would be perfect...
The rotating lens and built-in laser line make it easy to set the camera to frame a perfect shot, no matter what angle you mount it. I accidentally turned off the laser in the software and thought it was broken, until support at Contour provided me a quick response and helped me figure out that I am an idiot (my word, not theirs). Previous ROAM had two laser dots for leveling, the ROAM2 has a solid line, similar to home improvement tools.
The ROAM 2 has a standard ¼" x 20 tripod socket already on it - so no need to buy the Universal Mount Adapter (which I did, and now have no need for).
To set up the camera, change configuration options (such as selecting recording quality), you use Contour's software "Story Teller", which is easily downloaded and pretty simple to install and get using. Now, here is one thing I don't like about the ROAM 2 - you must use the software each time you want to change resolution of video. To do this, you must be connected to your computer via USB. So, if you're out in the world enjoying your camera, you are stuck with whatever setting you made before you left the house. There is NO option to select different modes via the camera itself. Given the designed purpose of the ROAM 2, I find this to be a bit lacking. Perhaps that is a feature on the more expensive versions of the Contour camera...
So, my first impressions of the ROAM 2 are very good. The quality of the video image is fantastic, the camera could not be more easy to use, and the software is pretty good too.
After a couple of full days of using the ROAM2, this camera performed flawlessly. Used it to capture POV video of a shooting match and attached it to my ear protection. The mic in the ROAM2 is very good - much better than any other camera I have. It was so easy to use the on/off button to begin and end each segment of recording - from a postion where I could not see the camera. The quality of the picture is superb (I shot at 1080p today).
UPDATE: After weeks of using this camera in real life action sports and other activities, I like it more and more each day. I am amazed at the quality of indoor picture also - no yellow or green cast - very natural light and it picks up everything very brightly. I find myself using 720p more often now, not only because of the economy of storage space but for the smoothness of the video if I want to go "slo-mo" from time to time. I would gladly buy this camera again... in fact, it might be nice to have TWO!
A couple tips: The 32GB microSD card does work fine in the ROAM2, and I've never even come close to filling it up. Secondly, if you're looking for some of the more exotic mounts and Amazon doesn't have them in stock - go directly to the Contour website. I ordered two mounts from them and they shipped quickly and only charged $2 for coast-to-coast shipping. Some of the merchants here wanted $10 for shipping.

Weighing in at about 15 oz., this Nikkor AF zoom lens is a lot of bang for the buck. The zoom range is 70-300mm; if you use a Nikon digital SLR like my D70, the effective range is 106-456mm due to the 1.5x crop factor. 300mm or 450mm, this is a very powerful zoom lens for relatively little money.
The maximum aperture of the lens is f4 at 70mm and one stop slower at f5.6 at 300mm. These are of course slower than more expensive Nikkor's which can go to f2.8, but for that you'd be shelling out many times more money. For most outdoor daylight photos as well as well-lit portraits, this lens does the job. At f5.6 and 300mm, you'll get a nice shallow depth of field that will give you that "professional" portrait you've been looking for. Just make sure you use a tripod.
This Nikkor sports excellent optics (despite not being an ED -- see below), and is a full auto-focus lens when mounted on Nikon SLRs that can do AF on G-type lenses. To switch into manual focus on one of these cameras, be sure to set the focus switch on the camera body to M (manual) first, before engaging the focus ring. Because this is *not* an AF-S (S for silence) lens, it does not have the "ultrasonic" built-in motor and is completely driven by the camera, that's why you want to set the focus mode switch on the camera to M before turning the focus ring.
Because this is not an AF-S lens, it's noisy when hunting for focus. Being an economics lens, it focuses pretty fast when there's plenty of light, but in low light situations, it can "hunt" for focus for a long time. In fact, where there's little light, you'll need to half-press the shutter button several times before the lens autofocuses properly; and don't be surprised if you have to switch to manual focus. (Just remember to set the camera's focus mode to M!)
Other features missing from this low-priced lens are a macro mode and low-dispersion (called ED by Nikon). Of course, it doesn't have vibration reduction, either.
Oh, if you have a digital SLR, you'll get an additional benefit of using a non-DX lens on a d-SLR: because only the central part of the image from the lens actually hits the sensor, you won't have to worry about aberrations that affect the edges, esp. when using low-cost lenses. From corner to corner, side to side, your picture will be sharp.
In short, for a little over $100 you are getting a genuine Nikon-designed (but made in China) lens with excellent optics, a long zoom range, fast autofocusing in bright light, and relative light weight but solid construction. On the other hand, the low, low price means you won't get macro, ED, ultrasonic focusing mechanism, or the very best optics that much more expensive Nikkor lenses have.
If you have enough money, I recommend getting a high-quality zoom lens that covers the wideangle to telephoto focal lengths. My favorite is the compact and lightweight Tamron 28-300mm Di XR LD lens sold here on Amazon (although you do give up aperture speed).

this is a fantastic price/value/versatility proposition.
this is the lens that made me go "wow, i *love* the m43 movement"...
i got this lens for my olympus e-pl1, and it works *beautifully*. i also own the oly kitlens, the oly 17 pancake, the panasonic 20mm pancake, and a very old OM 50mm/f1.4 lens (which is my fav for portraits). if i had to keep only 2 lenses this 45-200 would be for sure one of the two. it is not the sharpest and certainly not the fastest or widest, but it sure does many things very well on an m43 body. and it blows away any point and shoot, plus it'll make you look in sympathy at the full-frame guy carrying around the equivalent for his camera...
sum it up: *awesome* tele for the size and weight and quality (try hauling around the equvalent), and also acts as a great portrait lens with the right lighting (many pros love teles for portraits, read an online tutorial and your friends will love you). i *love* this lens. for the price, and considering what we used to pay for this image quality, it's a major "wow, i get the m43 movement".
great things are to come for m43. what a great format. this panny lens hints the vendors are not even remotely pushing the possibilities for now.
sure, it will fall short in the eyes of the full frame guys that already own a lens ten times the price of this (for less versatility and far less portability), but deep inside the snobs will hate you for the combo and the images you'll produce while dragging along a tenth of the traditional heft and volume...
you may feel i went overboard, but, if there is one take-away from this little review, it is this... if you own a m43 camera, get this lens, you will not regret it. it'll open possibilities you did not expect.
PS: if you are an Olympus E-PL1 owner... do NOT turn on the lens IS. let the olympus in-camera IS do the work. if you have *both* systems working against each other...

After reading a lot of the reviews, I purchased a trail camera (9437C). I was very disappointed with this product. The pir sensor ( Low, Normal, High and auto) is a joke, it seems one setting is no different than the other. The night time pictures will go from good to very snowy. Daytime are alright. I have a total of 6 "trail cameras", made up of three manufactures. This Bushnell is not one of the top cameras.

II have three trailcams from Bushnell, two earlier models and this new one. This one is the 2011 model that has audio (not really important), a timer to take a picture (field scan), and can handle 32GB memory cards.
I also own three other trail cams from Moultrie a M-60, I-40 and a D-50. I had a cuddleback two years ago, and it worked fine, but it got destroyed (tree fell on it). I do not own the new Moultrie M-100, which seems very similar to this Bushnell, but this is the first year for the M-100 and I bet they will have software issues. This is the 3rd year for Bushnell and they have this camera dialed-in very well.
The biggest issue with my older Moultrie cams is battery life. They need feed 6 D cells about once a month. The price of the batteries start to add up, but mostly the issue is going out to a dead trailcam and wondering what pictures you missed. A battery life of 1-year for just 8 AA is great.
Aside from battery life, all these trailcams seem to do the work well. Basically I want to take a picture of game when it walks by and they all do that. I'm not going to publish my pictures in National Geographic, I mostly want to count horns and find patterns. All do that just fine for me.
I've stuck different models of trail cams on the same tree and compared results. It's weird, sometimes the Bushnell shoots and sometimes the Moultrie shoots but most of the time they both shoot when game walks by.
I like the 2 year warranty from Bushnell and have used it. The first year model had issues, and I returned it- they then sent me a new current year model. I had issues with a Moltrie cam once and tried to get warranty work, but they did not honor the warranty and returned my camera. I bought from an on-line dealer they did not like. ( I will only buy from major retailers now)
I do like the nighttime flash color pictures from my Moultrie D-50, as it is nice to see in color. All nighttime trailcams that use IR flash come out in black and white. Flash vs IR is a personal thing, but in the end I'm counting horns and B&W is fine for my needs.
The biggest thing I hate about the I-40 &M-60 Moultrie is the fact that it is not easy to swap the SD card. I sometimes like to check my cams every day and it's a real pain to swap SD cards. On the Bushnell it's a piece of cake.
The biggest thing I hate about the Bushnell is that programming in the field under low light conditions is difficult. The screen is hard to read and the buttons are impossible. I find I need a small flashlight unless it is a bright sunny day.
Some trailcams come with a `viewer'. Personally I think it is a waste, save your money. If you need to view pics in the field, most all cameras (the cameras you use to take pictures of the kids) that use a SD chip will display trailcams pics, and so do smartphones. In my trailcams I use microSD with an adaptor and then plug the microSD into my blackberry for field viewing (If I can't wait to get back to the house).
Summary, I've been real happy with my Bushnell trailcam. I buy one new cam every year and for 2011 bought this one. I did look at the Moultrie M-100 and I think it would have worked fine for my needs, but it was a bit more $$ than the Bushnell and the fact that the Moultrie is a first year model made me stay with the Bushnell this year.

I took this camera on my vacation to China & I shot 2700 photos with it(over a three week period). The photos were all sharp, clear with excellent, accurate color. I did not use the video functions, so I will reserve comment on that function until I try it.

If you're looking at this lens, you're more demanding than the average Joe who takes photos and have high expectations. This lens is not blazingly fast (f/5.6 at 300mm), and to reliably freeze camera shake, you're going to need a 1/500 sec shutter speed, which means that with ISO 100 film, you only can lose one stop of illumination under "Sunny 16" conditions before you have to decide comprimise somewhere to get your shot.
Consequently, shots into the shade, or conducted under the warmer and softer lighting conditions of the morning/evening will inevitably drive you to the comprimise of a high ISO grainy film or the bulk of a tripod to make up for this lens's lack of optical speed. If you always shoot in full noon sunshine, you'll be okay.
Even though its a great tool, most people don't like to carry a tripod, so the solution is to either accept grain in enlargements, not take certain photos, spend more money to go to a faster lens, or some combination of the above. I'll say it again: the most cost-effective alternative is to use a tripod. The next cost-effective alternative is Canon's "IS" (Image Stabilization) lens technology. There are two contenders in this focal length, the 75-300mm IS and the 100-400mm IS. The former is nearly a duplicate of this lens.... The latter is a 3 lb pro lens.... Of these two, the 75-300mm IS is the bargain.
I started with this lens and after just a few test rolls, returned it and got the 75-300mm IS. The IS technology reliably affords an additional effective two stops of speed, although it cannot be used to freeze subject motion as the shutter will normally also do. But it makes the use of high quality films, such as Fuji Velvia (ISO 50), Kodachrome 64 and even Ekta (Kodak Royal Gold) ISO 25 feasible. -hh

I just bought this camera couple months ago and I was surprised to it that the features is awesome.It is easy to use and users friendly. It has 14 MP, EVF, 30x zoom, 3.0 " lcd screen to view your pictures which is very bright I believed in my opinion.In addition to that, you can upload pictures/videos directly to YouTube and Facebook. Also, It records 720p HD videos so you can use it as a camcorder as well. Mostly I liked in this camera it has a Lithium ion rechargeable battery, so you don't need to buy the battery anymore. The battery charging time is about an hour to be fully charge. The shutter speed is fine but not as fast like the some other DSLR cameras. But we know this is a bridge camera so it should be ok. The camera supports SD Card. The picture format is JPEG. The PANORAMA feature is also a plus. Overall, so far I haven't seen any problem with it and I am very happy i choose this camera. Definitely I will suggest it to all who wants to spend less for a camera and save some couple of dollars with a good quality. Give it a try and you will not regret.
