well this page took FAR to long to get done. my schedule, and life,  has been all over the place for the last little bit - hence the extreme delay.

this week sees me finishing up a couple of contracts that have been commanding my time.

you see i have a terrible habit. i think it stems from my initial years of trying to survive as a freelance artist.  the offending habit is the difficulty of saying “no” to a job and by default overbooking myself. but recently things have clicked in my brain as i have reached burn out far too often this year - and after too many years of keeping this kind of pace - things are finally sinking in.

i have decided on a course of action to move my career towards a balance where i can eventually live off my own ideas rather than those of others. it’s gonna be scary, but i can do it.

but first i have to wrap up my obligations.

with that said, this weeks update will only be one page, and next week’s update will happen though it might be a bit later in the week, but it will be a full update. i’ll keep people posted via twitter and the facebook group (links up on the left if you’re unaware…)

there is one question there i am asking a little input on. i am looking at creating kukuburi vinyl figures and am trying to figure out who to start with. lend me your thoughts :)

i am reluctant to say that there is going to be no update today, and prolly not tomorrow… i’m under a deadline gun and way behind schedule.

the next batch of kuku pages sit here to my left awaiting completion, but i simply can’t as responsibility had taken hold and i really don’t want to rush them to get them out, as i love ‘em (and you guys!) too much to do things half-assed. plus things are about to hit the fan… so i want the flow to be perfect.

if things go well over the next couple of days i should have updates for you before the end of the week.

part 2 of the transmission-x chat with the boys at digital kontent that took place during tcaf back in early may. a rare ocassion in that the entire troupe was there! the group was so large in fact that the recording studio couldn’t hold the entire crew so the interview was split into two sessions. so this week the digital kontent boys showcase part 1 of the tx interview where they talk to andy belanger (raising hell), cameron stewart (sin titulo), arthur dela cruz (kissing chaos: ’til i die) and newcomer eric vedder (aardehn) whilst the remainder of the boys listen in horror outside the sound proof booth…

to add to the bad news pile, tomorrows update is going to be bumped to tuesday, with which i will follow with and update on wednesday and thursday. so only one page this week, but there’ll be three to bring things up to snuff next week.

in other somewhat related news rob and i finally had a sit down and began working on the butternutsquash again. we will be posting a return date on the site shortly.

in more somewhat related news, i am looking at attending some conventions in europe this fall. things are being looked into and are not concrete yet, but as things develop i will keep you all posted. as much as i would love to have a book ready for this, i doubt i will. what sort of things would you prefer to be available if you were to attend a euro show? A small booklet with an original story and perhaps sketches? a poster or print? t-shirts?

any input would be lovely.

happy thursday :)

i was torn between having leonard saying “here boy” as opposed to his lackluster “zulu” but i felt the latter flowed better.

the chess pieces are moving into place. till next week good people!

apologies for the tardy update today. i returned from my holiday/birthday escape and was eager to get back to the drawing board but found myself exhausted. so i took a couple days to recupe. as i began work on this week’s updates i was sidetracked a little more as ideas began flooding me for this chapters resolution along with ideas for the next. y’see as much as i know where things are going i still had a few holes, story wise, that needed to be filled to get things were i wanted them to go. so i went with it.

the way things are  shaping up this chapter will wrap up in another 60 pages or so… and they’re all action! once complete i will go back in and smooth out story and pacing by adding new pages, which will probably round things up towards 200 pages! i can’t wait!

but that’s then, and this is now… enjoy, and i’ll see you all thursday for page 117.

worlds are colliding…. well in mere moments anyway.

soooo, i hate to do this, and i tried to avoid it, but no can do. there will be no updates next week. the reasons are a few, but most notably are that’s it’s my birthday next week and i’m kinda treating myself right, especially with last years festivities being obliterated due to the issues with my landlord rearing their ugly ugly head . i will try and make things up to you the week following by updating with what normally would have been next week’s update and the followings all in said week.

once again my apologies, i tried to avoid such a thing happening by working ahead, but a client called me early this week with an emergency which really cut into my time that i would normally have spent working on next weeks updates.

as well for a little added bit of extra this week i thought i’d share the pencils for page 114. many people often ask what program i use to do kukuburi, well it all starts here with pencil on paper…

as i said last week things are ramping up! 

i sat here deliberating over this spread for 20 minutes as to whether make it two horizontal panels or just one big one. in the end, while the two horizontals would have followed the story tempo the larger one has, obviously, more impact so i went with it.

some of you may have noticed that in the left sidebar astride the comic there is a bit of new text stating “buy a print of ->” and that’s exactly what it implies. the “button” sends you to my store at ramonperez.com where, if you are so inclined, you can purchase a print of this or any favourite pages you might like! the prints are done on demand utilizing archival inks on an archival quality white watercolour paper. eventually i plan to add a gloss and matte paper option as well. 

beyond that things are ticking along :)
