With a weak WWE The Bash card, I must say Edge’s and Jericho’s tag team championship was the highlight of the show. When Teddy Long announced them as challengers for the Unified WWE Tag Titles, it already became apparent that these two menacing heels will win the belts..and boy was it true. I marked out big time for their win! This unholy alliance of Edge and Jericho will surely bring back importance to the Tag Titles.

I remember Michael Cole (or was it Jim Ross?) saying these two former WW E Champions are accustomed to gold. Well, I say they’re not just accustomed to it..they’re ADDICTED to it. They live, breath and bleed gold. These 2 guys won’t be stopped until there’s a new deserving tag team that can bring prestige and importance to the tag team division. Since his split with the annoying Miz, John Morrison has quickly climbed up the WWE SmackDown! ladder.  His face turn is more acceptible because he hasn’t changed much, unlike MVP and who suddenly became Cena-like. Morrison still acts cool and looks badass despite the face turn and that’s why I like his push better than the other midcarders. Also, with SmackDown! ailing and missing some needed star power, John Morrison will become a solid main-eventer in a just a few months. His matches these past few weeks (especially with Edge) certainly showed that the WWE made the right choice by pushing this guy to the upper-card ranks.

Batista has been in and out of action for months now and sad to say, it hampers his momentum. A very good example of that is his most recent injury. He’s the current WWE Champion but I believe it won’t be for too long. That explains the attack on him by legacy this past Monday @ WWE RAW..he will be undergoing another surgery according to reports. Hopefully it’ll be minor just what most of the reporters are saying.

WWE has release a brand new t-shirt design for The Animal..it has representations of his different lineages (flags of Greece, US and Philippines I assume). Looks cool to me. For some reason, it reminds me of Manny Pacquiao shirts. Anyway, it looks to be a sure hit to die-hard Batista fans. WWE recently released Mr. Kennedy for undisclosed reasons. Some reports say he was too injury-prone and some say he and Orton had a backstage altercation (not heated but an altercation either way) that lead to him being fired. Whatever the reason was/were, it was still a STUPID move by WWE. You don’t fire a young, upcoming and PROMISING WWE Superstar just like that. Really, you just don’t.

When this news broke out, I felt terribly bad for the guy, not to mention get pissed off coz they fired my favorite WWE Superstar. Yeah, Mr. Kennedy had a huge influence on the Mr. Kupy monicker. One of my early wrestling wallpapers had Mr. Kennedy in it. Click here for that wallpaper. Again, IMO, he didn’t deserve to be fired. He’s a lot better than half of the current WWE roster right now. And as if WWE needed to rub it in his face by releasing him right after last week’s RAW where he made a monumental comeback from a string of injuries.

10 years ago, WWE/WWF fans lost a very important part of their weekly wrestling fix. Owen Hart fell from the rafters while performing his entrance at WWF’s Over The Edge PPV event. It really was a tragedy especially for his colleagues who viewed him as the most friendliest and funniest guy in the locker room. Everyone loved Owen. WWE Backlash 2009 definitely gave us a preview of how the company will be building for the future. Christian defeated Jack Swagger to become the NEW ECW Champion. Randy Orton together with his Legacy members Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase Jr. defeated the trio of Shane McMahon, Batista and Triple H to become the new WWE Champion. And lastly, with the help of Big Show, Edge defeated John Cena to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. Btw, the twist I see from this storyline is that  Edge will allow Big Show to have an affair with her wife Vickie Guerrero in exchange for his help in winning the WHC match. Afterall, the World Championship belt mean more than anything in the world to Edge. Anyway, these 3 brand new champions have a lot to shoulder from now on. Yes, that includes Edge because there’s no legit main-event face in the WWE Smackdown roster right now aside from The Undertaker so whoever he works with in the next few weeks will surely have to be carried by Edge himself. Christian will have his hands full probably against Tommy Dreamer and Randy Orton will have to slay a lot of challengers in WWE RAW to keep his Legacy and Age of Orton alive.

These crop of champions are definitely for real if you ask me, especially Edge and Orton of course. Christian will get there soon. Now I can say that ECW was a good start for him afterall. One more thing, the backstage skit between Edge and Christian at WWE Backlash was a mark-out moment! Reeks of awesomeness indeed! Here’s hoping for a sooner-than-later reunion of Edge and Christian!

However, it’s almost a lock he’ll lose the belt this Sunday at WWE Backlash, either against Edge or CM Punk (if he’ll cash his MITB title shot in. Why? Because WWE SmackDown has no world champion right now.
