I hope that you are all well.

Today marks my sixth day in the hospital for a headache I started having on Thursday morning while at work.

Each day that I have been here my headache has stayed almost the same. Tonight just before Tina got here and just after the nurse had given me my pain meds, I got such an incredible headache that I thought I was going to end up back in the ER.

When I first arrived to the hospital, we really did not know what to expect. What I did not at all expect was a spinal tap test that pointed to meinigitis and three days, so far, in isolation.

Well, I will try update everyone as we see this challenge through,

Kurt

Kittens Live!

Hello!

Several days ago God blessed us with some kittens. They are very fun to watch, but not so fun to clean up after! :)

I made this short video in memory of Tina's cat and friend Puff. Puff went to wait for Tina at the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday November 22, 2008. Puff was almost 19 years old and it was time for her to go be with God. Puff was a very good friend and a better alarm clock to Tina for many years. Puff would wake us up almost every morning between 330 and 4am so that we would have time to get to work...oh, and time to feed her! :)

Below is a short video that I made of the new life that God has brought into our home! It is just a short funny clip of the new kittens that allow us to stay with them!

<img title="Click to play" alt="Video thumbnail. We both have now stopped drinking and Tina has gone through some amazing growth in her personal life. She truly is not the same person she was just a few months ago.

If I had not been promoted in April, I would be the next in line to be laid off at Harrah's Security! Times are VERY challenging for the Casino industry, and in the last 3 months we have cut over 20 security positions.

As of midnight tonight (1200am on Friday) we went to a 10 hour shift. I now work 4 10 hour shifts and have 3 days off. Since I was #9 out of 10 Supervisors, I got the Midnight to 10am shift with Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off. So I get off work at 10am tomorrow (Saturday) and do not have to be back to work until 1201 on Wednesday.

I built a frame to go over the window in the bedroom to keep the light out, and for the most part it works good. I just need to find a way to secure the bottom to the wall to keep the light out. I have 2 picture brakets on top holding the fram on top and weather stripping around the sides to keep the light out. One of the requirements I had was that it would be easy to take off and put back up for my days off. And except for holding it close to the wll at the bottom I have met all my goals for this project. It is light enough that Tina can take it off, but she is not tall enough to put it back up. If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know. Right now I have the cat tower leaning against it and stuffed with unused Tina clothes to help push it into the wall.

I have been in the Amway business since 1991, and have personally seem many people become VERY successful with this business. Over the last several months, I have felt God calling my heart to head this way again, so once I get caught up on my homework and adjusted to my new work schedule, I will be really working my Amway / Quixtar business. Since the products I sell are of a far better quality and cost less per each use (Amway products are concentrated) than the name brands I do not think that building a good base of customers will be too hard. And in today's economic climate, finding people who want to secure their families financial foundation should be even eaiser. If anyone is intrested to see the products that Amway sells (folks it ain't the same Amway you think you know!) go to www.quixtar.com, and if you see something let us know. Ordering on-line is very easy and the cost to become a customer is free. But you do have to sign up through me so that you are linked to my business. I do have a standing special and that is, your first order is at my cost (wholesale. This order would need to be placed through me so that I can adjustthe cost to you!).

The reason that I have not done much with the Amway business before was that there was never a pressing need for me too. But now with all the bills piling up and the risk of loosing my job everyday, I have found the motovation and drive I need to get out of the 'job' world.

Well time to start getting ready for work. It is not only a Friday night, but it is also MY Friday night!

Good night all

From my Phone

Hello all, I am sending this from my cell phone so I hope that the formatting works out!

Just wanted to get a quick note in letting everyone know that we are still alive.

Ramblings for today

Hello everyone!

Guess what?

Tina made the Dean's List at school!

I forgot to mention this in the video, but wanted to make sure that EVERYONE who sees this blog knows how great of student Tina really is! Sorry I did not write last week, but we have been very busy with Tina's mom and son in town. It was a good visit, and I am sure that every one is glad to be back home! :)

With my new class, we are writing a paper that should turn out to be about 10 pages. The first weeks theme was God's love for All People, and that is what I talk about in my video. I did this at night, and was tired so I am not sure if I am just rambling or if I makes sense.

Well, With God's Blessings and My Love,

See you next week!

<img title="Click to play" alt="Video thumbnail. My latest installment of my video blog. I never knew how much people actually watched my videos, but I have received some feedback from friends and family about not posting.
Bev is home, and last I heard, doing well. Tina’s mom and son are in town and are driving Tina a little crazy! We have 4 people in a small apartment and Tina thinks that we all must be doing something all the time. Well her mom is right, sitting down and relaxing for a day or two is good too!
I have done some changing in our ‘office’ area and have added shelves and lights to make things more convenient for us and easier to actually sit down and do our school work. Classes start tomorrow after our 4th of July break. I am excited to get going again.
Well, with God’s Blessings and My love to you,

Kurt

<img title="Click to play" height="240" alt="Video thumbnail. I am sorry that I have been “off the net” for the last few weeks, but I got into a fight with Jose Cuervo. I have won the fight, but still recovering from this battle. Everyone keeps thinking that I need help, but I do not. I do not have the psychological addiction that most people have. I do not desire to drink, nor do I really like to drink. I do not like the taste, the effects or the after effects.

At my high point I was up to almost 2 gallons of tequila a week or 10+ liters of wine a week. I never missed a day of work, nor did I ever complain of any ‘hang over’. However, when this starts to control your life it is time to quite. When I was in college, I also drank a lot, and then got with my first wife, and stopped almost overnight with no problem. I think this time it is a little harder because I am older and have a lot of additional stress in my life.

My foot. Well I had an MRI on my foot because the boot I was given did nothing to help with the pain. The MRI showed a case of “severe” tendonitis in the Achilles’ tendon on my right foot. But this condition does not account for the swelling or severe pain that I have in my right foot. Now I get to go to a Neurologist and get my nerves ‘mapped’. I cannot take pain medications because they do not work on me. I have a very high tolerance to both drugs and alcohol. This really stinks because my foot really hurts when I am not up and moving on it. As soon as I stop walking, the pain is back.

We start another class on Tuesday, and after having a week off, I am looking forward to getting back into class work. My next class is ‘People of God’. Books are getting expensive (so please go to my website and make any size donation you would care to make) and Tina was able to find her next book on eBay and got a $96.00 book for $11.00 including shipping. However, the school keeps their books close to their chest so that it is harder for students to do this. Of course, this is just my active imagination running into the ‘conspiracy theory’ area.

Tina’s Mom and son Daniel are in town from July 2, 2008 until July 21, 2008. 19 days. We are going to see a ‘51’s’ game tomorrow (Monday) night. Everyone tells me it is a great time and we will enjoy it. Daniel was able to go to the Rio Socco Golf Course for some golf lessons. I got these through a employee program at Harrah’s. Daniel will be going back next Sunday also. Harrah’s owns the Rio and many golf courses. I guess that this is the same course that Tiger Woods trains at. They also went to see fireworks the other night and from what I understand (I was sleeping) they had a good time. They saw some over the city and then over the Airbase.

Well I think I will call it a night now and get back to you by video tomorrow.

June 16 2008

It is Bev and Tina's Birthdays tomorrow! My Step-Mom had surgery today for a hip replacement. Last I heard, she is doing fine and is in her room. Thank God that this went OK.

Sorry that I have not been as up to date with this as I wanted to be, but this last class really challenged me and my brain shut down because of the information overload! I am finding the Bible to be a very good book to read, and the lessons that I learn in a book that is almost 2,000 years old are as timely today as they were when it was written.

I do have some challenges with some of the teachings that we are learning. Like, as people under the New Testament, are we still held to the Old Testament laws? Simple answer? Nope, because the New Covenant through Jesus made the Old Covenant (through Moses) obsolete. And it is in the Old Covenant that God set in place a lot of the old laws, including the 10 Commandments.

If we are still held to the old laws, why are women allowed to attend church during their monthly cycle? Why are we allowed to eat shrimp? Why are we allowed to work on Saturday (The original Sabbath day was Saturday. Man changed it to Sunday for connivance)? Why are we allowed to read the word of God without a priest?

These are all laws that God set down for his people. So again, if we New Covenant followers are still held to the Old Covenant laws why do we not follow the old laws?

Here is another topic that will get your head swimming...What if the New Nation of Israel was NOT a geographical location, but a Nation built on faith and Fellowship with God?

Romans 9:6-8 It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned." In other words, it is not the natural children who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.

What a concept. After I realized this (by the way, I figured this out on my own through my reading of the textbooks and the Bible) I posted my thoughts in one of our conversations. and the Professor agreed with me and also pointed out some more Scripture to read on this subject.

The other idea that I figured out was the Temple that Jesus said that he was going to rebuild, has already been built. It is built out of Jesus' Resurrection and with the bodies of the believers and followers of Jesus. We do not need to wait for the Temple to be built in the 'end times' because it has and is already being built.

Wow...What a lot to think about. I also answered a question on predestination Vs. Freewill today for class, but I will save that dissertation for next time!

Below is my latest video. Please send me feedback so that I can improve these for you.

<img title="Click to play" alt="Video thumbnail. I have a question for any 'techie' out here, I am looking to find a different format to post my podcasts in. The one I did the other night in a VERY, VERY large file and take forever to download.

Does anyone know of another format I could use to make these weekly podcasts in?

Started my 3rd Bible class on Tuesday. I have completed most of the work, except for the reading, already. This is good since I am still getting caught up in my last class. My last class was a lot of reading and evaluating the Gospels and the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven.

As I was going through this class, I was hit with a lot of challenges and they almost got the best of me. Several things kept me going.

The first was Tina and the rest of my family.

The next was my Professor, Dr. Steve Whitmer. After I talked to him and got my mind in the right place again I had a better time getting things completed.

Then as silly as it sounds, this blog and web page have forced me to get my work completed so that I am accountable to each of you for my work. Thank you all fer being there!

I was able to get almost all of my reading completed for the last class by Tuesday (the end of class) and only have 2 more papers to complete. One is a 3 page reaction paper to the last book I have to read for the class. If you saw the video, it is the 'masters' level book. It was a challenge to start reading this book and the 100 pages we need to read, but as I forced my self to stick with it, it became easier and actually fun to read.

My other paper, which is due on 6/2/08, is a 8 page paper on what I learned in the class and then an action plan for me and my Church on the areas we covered in class. I am not sure how I am going to do the action plan for the Church since I do not have any involvement with the Church yet. But I will call and talk to the Professor and see what I can do.

Well time for me to go. Thank you all again for everything!

Kurt

Kurt's first podcast

Here is my first attempt at this!

If you are viewing this through 'feedburner', please hit the pause button as it will take a while for this video to download.
