Good morning everyone! Today I have something fun to share with you! If you have been cruising around on my blog you would know that I also love to do baking from time to time. I have always done decorated cookies since I owned a cookie bouquet shop and donut shop with my parent's when I was younger. Well, I have been messing around with cookies again and let me say, I am having so much fun!!

I first found this blog through a stamping friend, Karolyn. She had posted on her blog about a friend that was doing cookies so I headed on over there and OH MY! They were so cool! No, they were amazing! You may have already visited her blog at Fresh Cut Flours. (Be sure and check her out!) After emailing her and chatting for a while, we have now become friends and thanks Terri for answering all of my questions!

She also posted how she made this awesome cookie stand and I knew that I HAD to have one! Next thing I know, Sadie and I are headed to the Goodwill store to look for plates, cups and bowls. Can you believe that Sadie wasn't as excited about this adventure as I was?? What's with that?? Kids these days lol. Here is what I came up with!

After taking her advice, I did some shopping at Karen's Cookies. Wow! I got this amazing rolling pin, decorating bottles (lots of them) and all kinds of cookie cutters! She even has her recipes on her site! How cool is that??? If you like to bake, I highly recommend her site and her prices are good too. Oh and her shipping is a lightning speed lol.

Karen also has a new blog so I definitely wanted to check it out which is how I ended up at this next blog. Sweet Sugarbelle is Amazing!! I am really blown away with her talent and I was so happy to find out she only lives 2 hours from me! How funny! ( I thought it was funny!) She has pictures of her cookies on Flickr and let me tell you, this girl's got some talent! I wanna be like her when I grow up!!

Soooo...yesterday I ventured off and tried some new age cookie decorating! I got my cookies baked and then made my icing, which makes me so nervous! ( I know that sounds stupid.) This however, is very important! If you don't have the right consistency, it won't work. Oh the pressure but I got it almost right! Here's some of what I came up with.

These were my first ones so they aren't real great but not bad for a start! Did you notice my single cookie stand? I made it with left over plates and bowls. Here are some more cookies that I made for the girls.

It was VERY hard to keep the girls and Derek out of them until they dried! Once they did dry, they didn't last long lol! Well, sorry for the long post but I was very excited to tell you what I have been doing! I'm making more today and I can't wait to get started!! Thanks to Terri and Sugarbelle for their cookie advice and thanks to my hubby, Derek, for his help making the cookie stands! I hope everyone has a "sweet" day! (I know I know! That was corny lol!)

Hello everyone and happy Friday!! Today I have a sweet Valentine card to show you using an adorable image from my sweet friend Joni over at Inktegrity! She has been showcasing "Cupid" all week so why don't you head on over there and check out all of the other awesome cards.

Here is my Cupid card!

I started out using my red cardstock from SU! and then I realized I needed a sketch soooo...I turned to my favorite sketch stash (which is Mercy's sketches) and chose MTSC98. I just love her sketches!! Next I used my NEW Sizzix Valentine Embossing Folders! I have to admit, these were bought by mistake lol. I was looking at them at Michael's and I put them back. While I wasn't looking, Hannah must have put them back in my buggy. Smart girl she is and I'm so glad that she did that because I LOVE these babies! I thought they were going to be expensive BUT they weren't! Even better! They were $7!!! Woooo hoooo!!! I used the heart folder to make the heart panel along the top and then my patterned paper came from K&Company Valentine line. (LOVE LOVE this paper!) It makes me want to do all sorts of Valentine cards!!

Next, I used my new Prismacolor pencils (which I have only used on this card and my previous one) and some OMS and colored up Cupid. I have to say that I love my pencils a lot more than my markers. I'm still learning how to use these so I hope that I'm doing ok so far. I could not for the life of me figure out how I was going to color the wings so I just added some glitter to them and to the arrowhead. My ribbon actually came from the dollar bin at Michael's! How cool is that dollar bin??

For the inside of my card, I used the heart embossing folder again and then the sentiment folder that says "Be My Valentine".

Hi everyone and happy Thursday! Wow this week has gone by fast! Did you hear that Lori over at Lollipops and Sugarsticks has started doing challenges? Yay! I LOVE her adorable images and now she has added challenges!! For the first challenge it is a color challenge. This weeks colors are fabulous I must say! I knew exactly what paper I wanted to use when I saw them.

I chose to use the adorable image Gracie along with my brand new package of Life is Good from Echo Park. I also LOVE my Echo Park paper!! Here's my cutie patootie!

First, I started with some Rose Red cs from SU! and then added some of the polka dotted paper from EP. Then I realized that I really didn't have a layout in mind sooooo...I turned to all of my Mercy's sketches and narrowed it down between a couple (it is so hard to pick one of her sketches). This sketch is MTSC61. Next, I cut my 3 squares and added my Gracie. I tried adding a little shading around the edges of her and I think I need to practice a little more with that. It still seemed like it needed something so I added a little bling to the corners of the small squares. There you have it!

I also colored Gracie with my new Prismacolor pencils. This is my first image to use these on and I think I did pretty good. Also, I used some OMS to blend the colors. Wow is that stuff cool! Hi everyone! I'm back after a long break. I have had to find my mojo again after my MIL passing away and then me having surgery. The good news is I think that I have found it!

Here is a card that I made the other day to take to the school that my MIL taught at which is also my oldest daughter's school too. My MIL was known for making her Scottish Shortbread and taking it to school the last few days before Christmas break so that's what I did. I made shortbread and then put this card with it.

I just love these images from MFT stamps! This is a Pure Innocence image called Flurry of Love and I just love her! I colored her with my Prismacolor markers and used some of my new Spellbinder die's. My paper is from Echo Park (which is my new love) and let me say how awesome this paper is!! I also added a few clear crystals for snowflakes. Then I topped it off with a red bow and there you have it!

I hope you like her as much I as I did! She really brought back my mojo! It's sad to say that this is the only Christmas card I have made this season. Since this will be our first Christmas without my MIL, Gayle, my heart just hasn't really been in to it that much. I have one more day left to get in the spirit and I'm really trying! I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday! See yall soon!

Happy Tuesday morning to everyone! I wanted to give you guys an update as to why I haven't been around. My sweet MIL passed away last Monday, Oct. 25th, after fighting a long and tough battle with Cancer. She had stage 4 Melanoma and had been fighting for 2 1/2 years. It has been very tough on our family because we always assumed she would beat the cancer. We will miss her everyday but we also know that she is in a much better place and is out of pain.

I don't know if you guys have been keeping up with the DT over at Buttons & Bows but they have been rockin their projects!! I basically dropped them during the past couple of weeks because of what all was going on with my MIL and they did an awesome job of keeping things going! They are so awesome! We have 3 new sets of buttons out right now.

This set is called Harvest Time and includes all the buttons shown.

Halloween Cupcakes!

Good morning everyone!! Yesterday after I sent out all of my DT's buttons, I sat down and started working on some buttons just for fun. When I say just for fun I mean I really didn't have any ideas in mind. I just started playing with the clay and here's what I came up with! Halloween Cupcakes!!!

I thought that everyone has loved the normal cupcake ones, what if I did Halloween cupcakes??! I think they turned out adorable! My girlies had a fit over them and were trying to figure out how they could talk me out of them lol.

Now for some more exciting news! Buttons & Bows will be hosting their first challenge. It's of course a Halloween challenge and will be held on October 31st. The rules are you can make any project you like as long as it is Halloweenish, you have to use buttons and or bows AND you must become a follower of the blog. Not too bad, right?? Easy peasy as my girls say! Deadline for the projects is midnight CST on October 31st and you can post your projects on the Buttons & Bows blog. One lucky winner will be chosen and they will win 3 sets of buttons, $10 gift certificate for digis from Inktegrity, designer paper, and ribbon! So....get to thinking what project you would like to enter in the challenge!!!

Spooky Eyes

Happy Happy Friday!! Today we have a new set of buttons to show you! This set is called Spooky Eyes and is here just in time for your Halloween projects.

I also wanted to show some pics of my girls playing softball last weekend. It was a very busy busy weekend! We had tons of games and then it was my grandmother's 90th birthday also.

Here is Sadie's team. She is the second one from the left (with no belt on lol). Her team is called Lightning Storm. The parents have t-shirts that say "Storm Chasers" lol. They are undefeated so far and we are so very proud of her!

Here is Zoey getting ready to bat. Her team is called Inferno lol. She made a base hit and made it back home to score one for the team! We are very proud of her as well because she started out not wantig to play and now she's one of the best girls on her team.

Good morning everyone! Today I want to tell you about our Facebook winner! Earlier in the week I had said that if we got to 75 "Likes" that I would give away a free set of buttons. So last night Derek and I took the girls out for Mexican food at one of our favorite restaraunts and then we wanted to surprise the girls and take them to a Halloween store to look at getting their costumes. Of course when we got there it was 8:03 and they close at 8:00! That's just our luck! Anyway, we decided to go over to another store and just look around. Well, I ended up coming home with the Bamboo Fun drawing pad! Have you guys seen this or do you have one? We came home and got all the girls in bed and broke out the drawing pad! Derek also decided that we should watch the new Iron Man 2 movie he got while we played with the drawing pad. Let me just say that this thing is pretty cool! The thing that I really liked is it came with Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter. What a great deal right?! Here's what it looks like.

Recipe!

Happy Monday morning everyone!! I hope yall had a great weekend! Mine was very busy but fun. I have had several people ask me for the recipe for the donuts that I posted the other day. So here you go!!

Cake Donuts
4 egg yolks or 2 whole eggs
1c. sugar
2 T. shortening
3/4 c. thick buttermilk
3-1/2 c. flour
2 t. baking powder
1 t. soda
1/2 t. salt
1/4 t. nutmeg
1/4 t. cinnamon
-Beat egg yolks or whole eggs well. Beat in sugar and shortening. Stir in milk. Measure flour by dip-level-pour method. Blend dry ingredients; beat in until smooth. Pour batter on a generously floured surface. Roll out batter to 1/3" thick.
-Pour oil 3-4" deep in a heavy kettle or deep fat fryer. Heat oil to 370-380 degrees.
-Cut dough with a floured sharp donut cutter.
-Lift donuts with a spatula and place gently in hot oil. Fry as many at a time as can be turned easily.
-Turn donuts as they rise to surface. Fry about 2-3 min total or until golden brown.
-Lift from oil with a long fork. Do not prick or they will absorb the oil.
-Drain on a paer towel and then serve plain, cinnamon sugared or glazed.

Donuts!!

Happy Friday everyone! Has this week been long and slow or what?? So glad that it is almost the weekend! Today I have 2 things to talk about. First, don't forget the Buttons & Bows DT call ends at midnight tomorrow and then I will be announcing the members of our new team on Monday! I can't wait to reveal the members. We have had some awesome applications and it is going to be extremely extremely intensely difficult to decide. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings!

Second, I made home made cake donuts just like we used to make at our bakery and I thought I would share some pictures with you! Oh they were SOOOOOOO....yummy! Notice I said WERE!

Here I had cut them out and was waiting for my oil to get hot.

Here they are frying! Almost time to eat them!

These are the icings that I made. We had cinnamon sugar, cherry, chocolate and buttercream! My mouth is watering right now!

And here they are all cooked and iced. The girls and Derek dug into them so fast! I even took some to our neighbors while they were still hot! I'm ashamed to say that they were gone by the end of the day.

I also made Pineapple Tequila for Pineapple Margarita's. No, I didn't drink them that morning with the donuts but I sure did drink some later that day!

Anyway, I just wanted to share with you my yummy donuts and remind yall about the DT call. Have a great Friday and see yall tomorrow. (Maybe I will show yall some spooky buttons!)

Busy Busy!

Hi everyone and happy Wednesday! Sorry I haven't been around here lately. It is softball season again and Sadie and Zoey are playing on seperate teams this time. Did I completely loose my mind??! We have 5 games this weekend and 3 on Sunday! Then to top things off, Zoey wasn't feeling too good last week so she missed school on Monday and Tuesday then I made her go to school on Wednesday but took her to the Dr. later that day. Come to find out the poor child had Asthmatic Bronchitis! Boy did I feel like a terrible mother! Then the Dr. said no school until Monday. We went back to the Dr. on Monday and she sent us for chest exrays. Now her Bronchitis has gone to Pneumonia! No school for the rest of this week as well. Poor girl! She does seem to be getting better but we go back today to see. (Keeping my fingers crossed!)

Anyway, I wanted to show you guys what I have been working on for a lady that purchased some custom buttons from my Etsy store.

She does mosaic work and needs them for a craft show. You can visit her Etsy store here. She has some pretty cool stuff!

Also, it is almost time to announce our new first ever DT for Buttons & Bows! I am so excited and we have had some AMAZING applications! I now know how these stamp owners feel when picking a DT! It is the hardest thing to do! I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I want to just pick everyone! Derek just laughed at me last night when I said that. I never thought I would have that many people apply!

Teapot Buttons

Goooood morning everyone! Yay it's Friday!! Woooot woooot! I'm so ready for the weekend but it's going to be a busy busy one! Zoey (my middle daughter) has softball games Sat and Sun and then Sadie (my oldest) has softball practice on Sat AND I have been getting orders for my buttons!! They are finally beginning to take off!

Today I have a set of buttons that I made a few weeks ago but have been dying to show them off!! I have this teapot that my grandmother gave me and it is just adorable! It sits in my china cabinet and has never been used but I just adore it so much because she gave it to me. Sooo one day I was looking at it and thought, why don't I make a set of buttons with that being my inspiration!! Here they are!

Let me just say that these are my most favorite set that I have done!!! I also need to clarify something. The teapot IS NOT a Mary Engelbreit teapot. I simply took the colors in mine and the flowers that were on it and made these.

Unfortunately, I will not be selling these because I don't want to be accused of "copying" anyone and making a profit. I just felt that these were way too cute not to show you guys! If you think they are cute in the pictures, you should see them in person!!

Anyway, I just had to show them off because I am so proud of them! I also wanted to remind everyone that I am putting together a DT for my buttons! Good morning everyone!! Happy Thursday! Today is AiFactory Challenge #48. The challenge was to do a boyish themed project. Man, let me tell you that boy themes are always a little hard for me. I don't really know why but they are. I guess it's because I have all girls and get so used to frilly things! All-in-all I think this little guy turned out pretty good!

Our image this week is called Ivan the Pirate. Isn't he adorable?!

He sure was a lot of fun to color, which when I first started making cards, I didn't want to do anything I had to color and now that's all I want to do!

Happy Hump Day everyone!! I have some exciting news to share with you today! I am now on the DT for Inktegrity!!! I am sooo...excited to be part of this team! Joni has some adorable images and I can't wait to get them in my sticky little fingers!

Today we are having our first challenge for the fall season. Did I say fall season?? Wow, it's already that time! Seems weird to be saying that already but I guess it is almost here. Anyway, we would LOVE for you to play along in this challenge! This time it is an "Anything Goes" challenge. Woo hoo! You do not have to use an Inktegrity image but we would sure love it if you did. Also, did I mention that Joni will be giving away a $10 gift certificate?! How great is that??? Be sure and visit the challenge blog for all the details. Ok, now that we have all the important stuff talked about, I want to show you the cutest poodle EVER!! She is called A Fun Little Poodle and she is adorable!

I used some of my favorite paper from Cosmo Cricket called DeLovely. I also added one of my buttons that I made for it on spur of the moment. I added some pink satin ribbon and there you go! This sketch came from Mercy over at Lord Have Mercy. Whenever I need a great sketch I always turn to her!

Happy Tuesday morning everyone! I have to announcements that I can't wait to tell you about!! First, you can follow me and my buttons on Facebook now! Here is the link and the funny thing is, it isn't under Kuttin Kards. It is under Button & Bows. Help me get to 25 followers on my new FB page and there will be a free giveaway!

Now for the other exciting news! I am starting a DT for my buttons!! How this will work is I will send you 4 sets of buttons a month. How you use them and what you use them on is up to you! They can be put on a card, scrapbook page, shirt, hairbow, shoes or whatever you want to embellish. Use one set of buttons per week. All I ask is that you let people know where you got them and link back to my Etsy store. Does this sound like something you would be interested in? Great! I am looking for 5 DT members right now and that number may be increased later on. The DT call will end on September 25 at midnight CST and I will choose the members by September 27.

Homecoming!

Morning and happy Monday to everyone! This weekend was homecoming and I was busy making all 3 of my girls mums. Sadie (which is my oldest and is 13) is in 8th grade and will go to high school next year but even in 8th grade they still get mums. My husband thinks it's a little ridiculous that at 13 she got a mum but then he thought I was out of my mind when I made Zoey and Hannah (which they are 10 and 2) mums also! There is no way I could leave them out!

Then we got to the game and it was then he understood why I made the girls their special mums! Practically every girl had a mum on whether it was from her boyfriend or her father. Then he saw the light and admitted being happy the girls had theirs. I was just happy they were made and done with lol! Thanks go out to my Mom also for coming and helping me with them too! They were a blast to make but were a lot of work too.

This is all of the loot to make the mums. I didn't think I had enough but my Mom assured me that I did!

The game was great and Randall Raiders (our school) beat the Pampa Harvesters 69-28! The girls had a blast and had tons of compliments on their mums. Ahhh I love high school football and homecoming because it is the begining of fall!
