As a technical writer, you will be working as part of a team to create and maintain educational material for a large community of free and open source software developers. Our technical community of staff and volunteers maintains and evolves MediaWiki and related software, and enhances the software experience for Wikipedia, Wikidata, and other free knowledge projects.

Our technical writers work in partnership with other teams and the community at large to prioritize areas of improvement, and then follow through on those priorities. You are required to become a generous and organized contributor on mediawiki.org and other wikis, and will support our efforts to introduce standards and best practices for technical documentation. Our globally distributed team works remotely, and so can you!

As a Technical Writer, we’d like you to do these things:

Ensure developer documentation is clear, accurate and up-to-date and fulfills goal of expanding the developer community
Produce high-quality and easy-to-understand documentation for a variety of engineering processes, API documentation, FAQs, user guides, standard operating procedures, etc.

Medical Writing interns will leave our program with an expanded knowledge base and real-world experience in medical communications and strategy in oncology and hematologic malignancies.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Writing Intern will be responsible for contributing to the development of high-quality scientific content and data checking projects to support one or more Vaniam Group programs. The intern in this role will work on deliverables and projects with direct oversight. KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES: Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Support the Scientific Communications team with the development of internal and external medical communications projects in alignment with departmental and client objectives. Edit and write content for slides, publications, and other medical communications deliverables. Assess project issues and challenges, and identify and implement solutions to meet productivity, quality, and client goals as well as compliance standards. Build strong partnerships with the SciComm team members and respond promptly to team and client needs and requests for service and assistance. Attend medical writer trainings on relevant oncology medical writing topics.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES: REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college/university and pursuing a PhD/PharmD/MD in biological science, medicine, or other health-related scientific field. Candidates must be available to work 10 to 15 hours/week for 8 to 12 weeks from May/June to August. Students who have completed at least three years of graduate coursework will be considered. Additional technical competencies in PowerPoint are highly desirable, as is experience with PubMed databases and other literature databases. A minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Candidates with ability to interpret and organize scientific data or preclinical laboratory experience are strongly preferred. Commitment to ethical and transparent data dissemination standards. Computer programs systems: Highly Proficient with the following MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat) Outlook, Google or similar calendar system, familiarity with Endnote, and Zoom (or other similar systems) preferred. Technical competencies in PubMed databases and other literature databases are highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
