Man Does Not Live By Bread Alone

Material things do not necessarily bring you happiness. That is a fact of life. It is a hard fact to understand sometimes, especially in a society that tries very hard to teach you otherwise.It is very common to get into a mode where you think, “If only I had object X, my life would be perfect and I would be happy.” You REALLY want something: a new plasma TV, a PSP, a new laptop, a new car, a special pair of shoes havaianas, crocs, iphone, whatever. Then you buy it and you LOVE having it for a few days. But over time you get bored or it wears out. You can see this pattern repeated constantly in your own life. For example, your parents and grandparents likely spent thousands and thousands of pesos on toys for you as you were growing up: Dump trucks and Barbie dolls (yes i had barbie dolls haha) and video games, talking robots and remote controlled cars and on and on and on. All of those toys got boring or broken or outgrown eventually. They brought happiness for a moment or a week, but over time they became worthless and your desire turned to a new object. perhaps vacation to boracay, to disneyland, to a foreign land, a week-long stay in a love boat with your super crush harhar. …

This pattern begs the following question: “If material things bring just a temporary and short-term happiness, then what does that mean?” It might mean that you have to buy material objects at a rate of perhaps one per day to sustain the temporary and short-term high of getting something new. The problem is, that begins to sound a lot like a drug habit. This train of thinking can get you into some very deep areas. Things like:    * What is happiness?
    * What does it mean to be happy?
    * What do I want to do in my life?
    * Does life have meaning?
    * And so on.

Very deep.

There is a difference between material happiness, which implies having all the basic (or extravagant) comforts necessary to live life, and spiritual happiness, which implies something else altogether. I had a friend whose philosophy was this:

No matter how much money you make, you always want more. So if you make P125,000 (in 2005) you believe that if you just made P150,000 you would be happy. But then you begin to make P150,000. At that point you believe that if you just made P200,000 you would be happy, and so on through life. This pattern is true whether you make P125,000 or P500,000 a year, because as you earn more money you acquire more expensive tastes. It seems to me that you might as well learn to be happy on P150,000 a year, figure out an easy way to earn it and then have the rest of your time free to do what you want.

This sort of philosophy implies that you can find something other than material happiness to give meaning to your life.

The thing about “wealth” is that there is more than one way to measure it. Traditionally it is measured in PESOS, but there are many other scales. You can be “rich” in ways that have nothing to do with money. For example:

Rich in friends — A person who cultivates friendships and who is a joy to be around can have hundreds of good friends and can be rich beyond the wildest dreams of others.
Rich in health — A person who spends time eating right, exercising and relaxing from stress can be extremely healthy, and this health can be far more valuable than any amount of money.
Rich in strength — A person who works out with weights every day, runs, swims, etc. can be rich in strength and will have an attractive body.
Rich in family — A person who devotes time to his or her siblings and parents will have a strong and happy family that is rewarding throughout life.
Rich in knowledge — A person who reads and studies will become rich in knowledge.
Rich in skill — A person who practices anything daily (a skill, a sport, belly dancing hehe, whatever) will become excellent in that skill area. Excellence has its own rewards.
Rich in character— A person who works hard at being honest and truthful in all situations will become rich in character and will be trusted by everyone.
Rich in protein - hahaha. that’s me when i still workout in the gym

One funny thing about all of these different areas is that none of them are taxed. You are taxed on the money you earn, and that is it. There is no knowledge tax, for example. You can learn freely throughout life and acquire a huge “bank account” of knowledge. No one can steal it or diminish it in any way. Presumably, knowledge is the one thing you might be able to take with you to your grave.

All of these alternative types of wealth are different from financial wealth, and yet all of them can be equally rewarding in their own ways. The point is that the act of buying things by itself, despite what television tells you, may not be what will bring you maximum happiness in life. Things like good friends, a loving girlfriend/boyfriend, a loving spouse, well-raised children, a home built on love, a good relationship with God, a clear conscience, a worthy goal and a job you truly enjoy bring you contentment that lasts and has meaning. These things are often very hard for some youngsters to understand, but as you mature they become more important.

As you look at the world around you and come to understand what is important to you, keep these things in mind. Think about what it is that you enjoy and what makes you truly happy. See what you find. In thinking about it consciously, you might be surprised by what you discover. Money is incredibly important—you need it to survive. But it is not the only thing you need, and money itself will not bring lasting happiness to most people. Man does not live by bread alone.

It is never too late to be what you might have been

Truly, life is so short. We are but breezes of wind that blow thru this world. Here one day, gone the next. No one knows how long they will live. You cannot choose how long you will live but you can choose how well you will live.

So many people wasted their short lives in here and spend their finals days waiting down in regret. There’s no more time to go back and re-do their lives. There is nothing left but a wish for more time. A wish that will never be fulfilled.
We all have two choices as we live - we can make a living or we can design a life. There are many who spend their lives making a living. They go off to work each day with no vision for what their lives could become and before they know it, their lives are over. and some are so fearful that their dreams they do have will forever be unfulfilled coz they never have the courage to take a risk to enable them to reach their goals and live their dreams. You can be different though. You can design your life. Yes it would have been better if you’d started earlier. The earlier the better. But if your 40 years old, you have a good 40 years left. You can accomplish tremendous things in your remaining years if you design them before you live them. What will make them powerful will be if you design a life based on the pillars of success with a goal of leaving a legacy for others to follow. Live a life that will help other spiritually, intellectually, physically, financially relationally. Live a life that serves as an example of what an exceptional life can look like. Let others lead a small lives but not you. Let other argue over small things but not you. Let others cry on small hurts but not you. Let others leave their future on someone else’s hand but not you. Leaving a legacy is like planting a tree. As that seed grows into a tree, it will provide seeds so that future generations can then plant their own.

You have your entire life ahead of you. Live it to the fullest potential that you have. There is so much more that you can do for yourself and for those around you.

Bizarre reasons why i wont celebrate my birthday

This is a last-minute blog post before I head to the North for a vacation.

Why do we celebrate birthday anniversaries anyway? Do we really have to be reminded that we're a year older? Nowadays, my own birthday just depresses me and that's about it. On the 25th, I wish that there is nothing in the house to show that said day is another milestone in my life - another year gone by. So why do I not want to celebrate my birthday? I could come up with a lot of reasons or excuses for this such as “Sorry guys, I got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning” or that it is a waste of money and energy, but the following are the deeper reasons.

OUT OF A SENSE OF DUTY OR SOCIAL OBLIGATION”

The reason is not because I do not want to clean up the mess or wash a pile of dishes taller than me afterwards or that I am a grumpy gentleman hehe. It is more of a personal perception and feeling. I personally do not enjoy the psychological aspect of these days. For example, I feel an iota of displeasure over few people who only make contact on birthdays. Magtetext lang minsan sa isang taon dahil birthday mo at pag ire-reply mo ng “thanks”, magrereply siya, “k”. haha nakakasakit ng bangs!

Isa pa, the brief messages on the card that have been written by someone else or forwarded text quotes about birthdays (na inipon niya sa inbox as template para i-send sa kung kanino mang may birthday) are, on few occasions, a bit irrelevant, inappropriate, not germane to, or perfectly reflective of the sender’s actual feelings for the celebrant. It is even worse when you know that they gave you a card or memento out of a sense of duty or social obligation. Nakakainis din minsan kung yong text na greeting sayo ay meron ka na non sa inbox mo para isend din sa ibang may birthday haha. If I am important and mean something to these few people, this should be apparent throughout my life at hindi lang one text a year (dapat nagtitext sila ng magagandandang quotes para may pang-forward din ako sa iba, OR pinapasahan ako ng load, OR nagcocomment sila sa mga wall posts ko para ma-beat ko si Alma sa number of comments) ahaha!..... “BIRTHDAY IS A LEGITIMATE EXCUSE PARA MAGDEMAND NG REGALO LOL”

Birthdays are meant to mark our ages. When we were young, excited tayo to celebrate our birthday kasi we get to receive a lot of presents, mostly toys at pag pera ang regalo, kukunin ni mommy at isi-safekeep nya raw muna baka mawala until you’ll forget about it na. When we get too old for presents, birthdays are celebrated so that our relatives and friends can make fun of us for being old grrrr!

Besides, I think having a birthday party is just an excuse to eat, drink and be merry at the expense of the person whose birthday is being celebrated . Kesyo dapat ang celebrant ang mag-treat, mag painom or something else.

Another is - I am not really comfortable being the center of attention. Minsan may program pa and as part of it, they would ask you to stand in front to either make a speech or tell everybody your bday wish habang halos mabulag ka sa dami ng camera flashes ahaha bongga! I also am not comfy about the premise that you have to be really happy just because it's your birthday ...eh what if you had a bad day dahil halimbawa you were awakened because you fell off the bed (eh double-deck sya at sa taas ka natutulog haha) OR while climbing down the stairs you were reading greetings and similar text messages and your Iphone slipped off your hand and smashed to pieces OR ikaw ang nadulas and you hit your head against the staircase at nabitawan mo ang phone mo at nawasak at nang tumingin ka sa salamin may malaki kang uber red PIMPLE sa tip ng ilong? (haha napakamalas mo naman)

"WHO WANTS TO CELEBRATE AGEING?"

Birthdays are mere reminders that one is getting older and i don’t find a sane reason to celebrate aging/ageing (ano ba tamang spelling? ahaha). An older relative may even tell you this familiar line “you should be more serious now since you're already ____ (secret)”

Speaking of older relatives, another reason is because of the frustrating habit people have of partitioning you at certain ages. For instance, at 18 or 21 you are supposed to get the key to adulthood. At 22, “you should have a decent employment soon”. At 30, “it is time to settle down”. At 40, “why are you not married yet?” At 50, “you should have enough money for your early retirement by now” At 65, “dapat anim ang wheelchairs mo at dapat magkakaibang kulay para bongga” haha! At 70, “pagandahan ng personal nurse” lol

SERYOSONG MOMENT ko, WAG KOKONTRAHIN

A mentor once told me that, when you reach the age of 20, on average you will have 2,600 weekends left to experience in life. His recommendation was that you put the same number of marbles in a jar and pick one out at the end of each weekend. The moral of the story in this case was that, when picking out the marble, you should reflect on how well you had performed during that weekend and resolve to do better during the remaining marble weeks.

Personally, I am not happy to be constantly reminded that my life is not being spent efficiently or to its fullest. I’ll do better next year and make GIANT steps forward to make amends for my mistakes or for the delays brought about by procrastination and sluggishness. I know there are a lot of things to catch up on but on my birthday anniversary, I prefer to just open my eyes in the morning, thank God and my parents, and treat the day as ordinary and enjoy it for what it is and what it brings.

Have you seen the movie "Anger Management" with Jack Nickelson and Adam Sandler? There's a part there where one of the patients in anger management repeats the phrase "goose fra-ba" over and over. Kind of like a zen thing, to bring him back down and calm his nerves. Well I've been doing my own version of goose fraba-ing.

When things go wrong as they sometimes will, when you're upset, depressed, when you figured in an untimely and unanticipated breakup, or simply feeling fear, anxiety, despair, guilt, apathy, or grief, in addition to what many people would describe as typical "sadness" or other negative emotions, try to relax, close your eyes, take a deep deep breath and while you exhale, say "GOOOOOOOOOSE FRABA" Do this at least five times and feel the difference. >_<

Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. If you don't start with that, what are you going to end up with? Fall head over heels. I say find someone you can love like crazy and who'll love you the same way back. And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen to your heart. I'm not hearing any heart. Run the risk, if you get hurt, you'll come back. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love - well, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived. Stay open. Who knows? Lightning could strike.

How Could I be Computer-less?

How could i be computerless? This is a cute and hilarious music video that i've seen at youtube few days ago. With this clip, i was teasing my brother because he lent his macbook to my sister who flew to Ireland for another echelon of scholastic endeavor. The short music video illustrates how the singer's life became extremely miserable being computerless.
Funny thing is, morning of 26 October 2009, i was turning my laptop on to check my daily emails and news but it did not. I ticked the power button once again... the lights merely blinked then went off again. I openned the memory modules then replaced them, checked the physique of the harddisk, power supply etc. but to no avail. Being someone educated in computer hardware, i knew right away that the motherboard is the perpetrator. It figured in a legitimate hardware breakdown.

Feeling weakened and depressed, I checked the warranty papers provided by HP. To my susrprise, the warranty expired last month. I firgot to extend it to three years. having learned a lesson from this harrowing experience, I advise you guys not to forget getting your toys extended warranty for the obvious reason that hardware failures commence to exist when your toy reaches one year or older.

When my brother arrived home from work, I welcomed him at the door by saying, "now i can join you in singing, how could i be computerless" haha. My laptop's motherboard costs an arm and a leg and it will take a minimum of two weeks to order a replacement from HP USA where this laptop was originally purchased. Guys, love your laptops as much as you love yourself, especially when it is your primary tool of trade.

When i was a kid, i used to rip open our appliances just to know what's inside them. I get tools from the trunk of my dad's car then surreptitiously unscrew my subject appliance and rip its parts apart. What would you do when your computer considerably slowed down? Windows crashes more often, Computer hangs in between tasks, it freezes when you open multiple applications or simply put, running differently as before. Perhaps you have satiated your harddrive with millions of mp3s haha, helluva lot of videos, not-so-helpful and seldom-used application. For the information of those not so abreast about computers, windows utilizes that extra free space of your harddrive as virtual memory to make your computer machine run faster. The more free space you have, the faster your machine executes programs. So what do you need to do? You may burn the mp3s, videos and other large files in Dvds. Uninstall unneeded applications and redundant programs. After these two steps, defrag your harddrive. Now, defragging your harddrive using the bundled windows software will take half a day to complete, so instead, use the auslogics defrag (google for it) and the defragging will only take less than 20mins depending on your harddrive’s size. When done, run your updated anti-virus, anti-spyware programs. However, when your pc encounters the blue screen of death, or some other windows errors, you reinstall may reinstall windows but i recommend, clean install of the windows operating system to reset everything in their factory defaults. But first, back up all your important files, bookmarks, saved passwords, message archives, game settings/configuration files. Guys, there is a very exciting event to be announced today! Marriage: Not a solution to poverty

A distant relative got married yesterday. She is only eighteen i think. As a backgrounder, the elder sister got married when she was 18 and their eldest joined the matrimony when he was 21.

The scheduled wedding is not a result of a well-planned and deliberate intention to enter into a family life. As per my observation, neither was there a reasonable period of courtship. To my mind, the untimely wedding is brought about by the unintended pregnancy of the bride. I wish im wrong.

The bride: She didn’t finish college, unemployed, young, and pretty (of course she is my relative).

The groom: He did not attend college. He has no visible and permanent sources of income. He gets financial support from his relatives. He was most of the times jobless and on the few occasions that he landed on a job, he would not last long because he does not have interest in keeping his job.

He is indulged in different vices such as drinking intoxicating liquors and womanizing, to which vices it seems he cannot detach himself anymore. He adores “adors” such as “emperador”, “matador”, “fundador” his filthy Labrador and bestfriend Salvador haha.

I did not attend the wedding as my schedule did not permit me. But one week prior to the wedding, i was there in the province and i was among those consulted about the reception arrangement. Note that it was then one week before the wedding. The father of the bride broke the news by announcing that so far, the groom has contributed P15,000 only. And that the groom thinks that it is good enough to cover the wedding expenses. Haha he must have lost his sanity. 15k for the floral arrangement in the church, Gowns, invitations, video coverage, sound system and reception???! When asked, the groom conceitedly said, “that’s all i can share”. The mother of the bride sobbed and my dad immediately reprimanded the groom but we all know that doing so is futile.

At the very outset, all of us in the family look upon the idea of their plan of getting married with great disfavour. My cousins displayed animosity to the groom. But the couples insisted until they finally solicited the consent of their respective parents-in-law.

The parents-in-law are engaged in farming and are yet to harvest the “palay” this early December. The siblings of the bride have their own family to feed and have their own battle against poverty.

The mother of the bride humbly sought our help. My dad did not manifest support, but he has a gentle heart so i know he will chip in the end. They asked every competent relative for his willing share. I have no extra cash in hand to be candid and was not willing to share because it’s the groom’s family who should carry the burden but the situation warrants a kind heart and an open wallet haha.

Three days before the wedding, i gave 10k to the bride and now, i cant go to the grocery store, i can’t go to the mall, i cant buy credits for my phone, i cant sleep haha.

They managed to celebrate the wedding. what’s next? we will contribute money for their conjugal house?

There are helluva lot of reasons why people start blogging. Some has his/her own unique reason but to my mind, based on my own observation, these are the prominent reasons:

a. She recently had a breakup.
b. She is feeling emo.
c. She has travelled a lot of places and she wants it to share to others her experience
d. She recently succeeded in a battle/ contest/ fight against cancer
e. She has no friends to talk to.
f. She’s a mother (single mom included) who is more often at home or home-based fulltime and has nobody else to talk to except her adorable children
g. She heard she can make lots of money by blogging and getting ads in her blogsite
h. She wants memorable occurrences in her life recorded in a blog playing a daybook role.
i. She has few friends and wants to make virtual friends who shares her thoughts and idea
j. She feels she doesn’t exist in this world or the world doesn’t notice her existence hahaha
k. She a loser in real life hahaha
l. She hates the present administration and wants to petition the government thru making commentaries in her blog.
m. She fell off her bed, banged her head against the floor, then realized she wants to have a blog the following morning hahaha
n. She has a unique talent and she wants to tell everybody about it
o. She failed in an important quest in life, learned her lesson and now wants share to us that lesson
p. She recently gave birth to her first baby and she wants to tell the world how her parenthood is progressing.
q. She’s great in cooking in fact she knows a lot of recipes which she wants to share to everybody who also loves cooking.
r. She discovered a cool hobby or finally got herself a hubby and wants everybody to know how proud she is.
s. She has a crush on someone but has no guts to tell the guy so she blogs about her affection then invites their common friends to read the entry purposely to make these common friends tell the guy that she is falling for him.
t. she dreamed of becoming a writer but her dad sent her to culinary school hahaha loser

How to Find Time for Yourself and Enjoy the moment

However sociable you may be, there will come a point in time where you need to be alone. Do you ever find yourself longing for some time for yourself? Most of us are so busy either with work, school, and home life that often there is no time left over to do something that you enjoy. If you’re a hard-working employee or a diligent student, full-time parent and spouse, making time for yourself is tough. Nonetheless, you may find the following ways, to carve out that essential time you need to slow down, enjoy life, and rejuvenate yourself, germane and applicable.

Planning Time with Yourself

1. Evenings (days) with Yourself. Try to save certain weeknights just for you. If others ask you to do things those nights, just tell them you have plans. I, together with mom and siblings stay in a humble abode somewhere in Malate, Manila. But aside from this, I have a separate apartment in Quezon City where i settle in during office days or when im in dire need of spending couple of days alone. Use the time for gardening, reading, exercise, thinking, or the ultimate luxury of doing nothing haha with everything you need for the day is within your reach like sandwiches, drinks, junk foods, remote controls, cellphones, PSP, pocketbooks.

2. Monthly Treat. Schedule a treat for yourself once a month at least. It could be on your lunch break, a weekend, or it could be leaving work early. Maybe you get a spa treatment, body massage, go see a movie (this i don’t fail doing), a haircut and hair relaxation, play golf (indoor with your Wii lol), facial treatment, diamond peel, get your nails done, or whatever treat you’re always thinking about but rarely get to. Schedule it in and it will happen!

3. Buy Tickets in Advance (If you are into Sports like me), theatre play, concerts, or any other event you would enjoy. Schedule the plans with a friend later. Having the tickets already in hand will force you to make it happen! Like one time, i went to Mall of Asia as i have nothing to do for the rest of the day after having gone to church. I headed first to the coffee shop (this is the routine i am accustomed to), thinking of what activity i would do next. Seeing a movie was the idea that crossed my mind so, with my cup still half-empty, i proceeded to the movie ticketing booth and purchased one. The movie was set to be shown after an hour and a half so i still have ample time to take a mile walk at the bayside - the customary romantic tryst for lovers usually illicit hahaha pardon me. Later a friend phoned in asking me out for a drink. Logically, i declined as i have already purchased a movie ticket. My friend could have ruined my time devoted for myself were it not for the ticket i bought in advance .

4. Leave Work on Time. Huh? Normally, i get in the office late. About an hour late LOL. But i leave the office usually at 6:00pm to compensate for the time i came in late. But generally, many of us stay at work late on a regular basis. If this is also you, make it a point to leave work exactly on time at least once a week, if not more. And then enjoy that time! Leave work at work. Don’t bring paperwork at home.

5. Join a Group. Here are some ideas of groups that can allow you some time away from work and home: singing group, body builders group, motorists association (not TODA haha), gardening group, deviant artists, book club, quilting (or any other craft) circle, biking/walking/running/etc clubs, ice skating club, etc. What are you interested in? Strike while the iron is hot. Look up a club in your area today and join! If you can’t find a club, consider starting one yourself! Hmm i will institute a club in May and will christen it “May Club”. Uh oh.. saying it repeatedly doesn’t sound pleasing to the hears. It sounds like “make love” hahaha.

6. Take an Adult Education Class. Ooops i didn’t mean sex education. Take a fun class. If crafting is fun for you, then go ahead – call TESDA for free seminars. If not, then think about some of these ideas: foreign language, photography (not pornography), art, creative writing, or sports (archery, golf, yoga). A good friend preppie, tried belly-dancing and she’s now very good at it.

7. Exercise. For busy people it can be difficult to make time for this. But, you know what? You can do it!! All you have to do is decide today and then make it a reality early tomorrow. A new habit is started with just one step. Take that first step tomorrow. Walk for 20 minutes in the morning. And then build on that success daily. Vary how you spend that time. On some days use the time for thinking and daydreaming LOL. Other days listen to motivational audio and on days you want a real boost, listen to your favorite music! If you’ve been exercising for a while and you usually listen to music, try go without any input for a change. Instead, let your mind wander and expand. Not long ago, i tried jogging every morning in University of the Philippines, Diliman campus. My work starts at 9am so i wake up at dawn then go jogging. Try jogging too. There, you will meet health conscious people and possibly make new friends like i did. TIP: stuff your pocket with pain reliever oil or ointment. When, along the way, you meet a jogger or sprinter with sprained leg or ankle, offer help. Surely, s/he’ll become your friend and you will never trek the UP Campus alone anymore hahaha. On succeeding mornings, you bring a blanket and a couple of sandwiches so when you and your newly found friend get tired, change course and have a picnic in the sunken garden. Good luck!

On the Go

1. Commute Via Public Transportation. If you can, ditch your car, and let someone else do the driving (with or without driver’s license so long as you have petty cash to bribe the traffic enforcer when you get caught haha). Use that time to plan your day, do some reading, writing, creative thinking, or even meditation especially when you encounter a traffic mishap. Or get your old nokia phone and play snake haha. Jot down your high score on your diary in my case, i take the Light Rail Transit (LRT) on my way going home. It’s practically more convenient than driving a car considering the price of gas nowadays and the heavy traffic in metro Manila thoroughfares. Traffic jams in Quezon Avenue to Taft Avenue alone usually take hours to disentangle whereas if you take train (LRT) from Monumento to La Salle, the travel time will be stripped to closely 30 mins not to mention the measly cost of the ticket which is only P15.00.

2. Driving in Your Car. Make the most of this time. Vary how you spend that time. If you always listen to music, perhaps also try: educational radio stations, positive audio tapes (suggestion: “Follow Your Heart” by Andrew Matthews), provocative audio CDs like the ones being distributed by militant groups haha or even totally quiet time. Use that quiet time for brain storming but pay attention to the road haha. Either think in your head (avoid doing forty winks, for God’s sake you’re driving LOL) or even talk your ideas out loud but be sure to close the windows as the other motorists my think you’re crazy talking to oneself. Bring a voice recorder. You could write a book or draft a good blog entry via voice recorder over time. Or you can practice perfect delivery of your self-authored and unique pick up lines hehehe.

3. Waiting in the Car or Waiting for a ride. If you find that you have a certain amount of “waiting time” in your life, change how you perceive it. Instead of “waiting time” you can instantly change it into “me time” by bringing along reading, writing, or entertainment items. Or if you find yourself waiting and you don’t have any of these things use the time for creative thinking about your life or try some meditation. Try learning the sun dance as demonstrated by idolized-by-all singer actress Sarah Geronimo in her recent movie “A very Special Love” (no, i obviously did not watch it) okay, okay fine, i watch it in the theater but i swear somebody (a die-hard fan of Sarah and the leading man) twisted my arm and coerced me to watch the movie… with her i took a nap while inside and when i came back to senses, i saw sarah doing the sundance haha.

1. Two Birds, One Stone. Look for ideas where you can fit in time for you within things you need to do already or that will have multiple benefits. See the ideas below to give you an idea.

2. Walk to Work. This is a great one because you’re accomplishing many things at once. You’re getting exercise, you have time to think or enjoy music/audio, and you’re helping to save the environment. You may also be lucky to find dropped coins or valuable stuff along the way.

3. Arrive Early. Any appointment that you have, plan to arrive 15-30 minutes early. Then use this time for you: reading, writing, meditation, relaxation, thinking, chiq hunting, organizing your phonebook (i delete virtually inexistent numbers), whatever.

4. Volunteering. There are so many benefits with this. You make a difference for others, you escape work and personal worries, and you grow as a person. If you could help one organization or group, which would it be? OK, now go ahead and Google them and find out how you can help - even if it’s just once a year.

5. Side Job. Find a side job at which you can make money, but that will also allow you to do something you love. Some ideas: coaching, teaching a class (art, writing, sport, hobby, anything else you know well), or training others (what special skills do you have that you could share with others? singing, windsurfing, math?)

6. Lunch Alone. Try sneaking away for a quiet lunch alone on a park bench or even in your car. Enjoy some quiet time with no one to talk to and no audio inputs.

Time Away from Kids

1. Organize “Mom’s Morning Out” Circle. If you have a friend or group of friends, you could arrange to share babysitting services a few times a month so that others in the group get some time alone.

2. Babysitters. Make a plan to have a babysitter that you trust watch your children once a month or once a week so that you can get some time for yourself. The key here is to take action and make it happen. If you want more time for yourself, you can get it. Just don’t be afraid to ask. You may either ask your sister or a relative to keep an eye on your children while you go strolling, shopping, or other activities which you miss doing in a considerable period.

How to know if you look younger than your age

Do I really look younger than my age as what some people with vision problem say so? haha This morning i took a jeepney ride from Munoz to our office. Since the distance between the point of origin and our office is less than 4 kilometres, the supposed charge is the minimum fare - Php 8.50. I reached a ten-peso coin from my pocket and (as i was seated at the rear side of the jeep) at the top of my voice, I yelled, “bayad po” to prompt other passengers to reach for my fare and hand it to the dirty hand (with untrimmed fingernails stuffed with mixture of grease, dead skin cells and dandruff hahaha) of the driver. I ought to receive Php 1.50 change but to my great surprise, i received Php3.00. I was astonished and taken aback. We were only five passengers and the driver has a clear view of me at his horizontal mirror. Or perhaps to his discretion, i am only a high school student hahaha. Discreetly, i opened my phone’s camera and swiftly took a picture of me purposely to determine whether i look like a senior citizen or a student. Stating the obvious, the latter is more probable haha.
The issue to be resolved next is whether or not i will return the Php1.50 excess change. but while thinking what will i tell the driver, i realized that our office is just a couple of meters away so i merely said, “para po” and gave him not the excess change but my biggest and most friendly smile.
