Not just “I-wish-I-could-afford-to-go-out-on-weekends broke” or “I-wish-my-dad-didn’t-have-to-pay-my-car-insurance-and-phone-bill broke”, but “I-eat-spaghetti-5-nights-a-week-because-it’s-cheap broke”. So during his final year at University of Washington, he found himself with a 3-week break in the summer and decided to dabble in app development instead of becoming a couch potato. His girlfriend even said she’d give him $100 to pay Apple’s developer fee if he didn’t make that much money within the first few months.

At about this time in his App Developing career, Kevin graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington and got offered a job. A real, legitimate, 40-hour-a-week engineering job at a well-known company in the Seattle area that I won’t mention here for privacy reasons. For a lot of people, a regular paycheck and the promise of company-provided health insurance might make you less motivated to work in your spare time and more likely to go out and enjoy having a regular paycheck, but Kevin realized he had a real passion for App development and wanted to give it one more try. Plus, his steady paycheck enabled him to buy the new iPhone 3GS!

Kevin came up with a new app called “myBatteryLife” to monitor the remaining usage time for various iPhone and iPod Touch functions. He released this app on June 18, 2009 to coincide with the new software 3.0 update for the iPhone and iPod Touch (required for this app to work on your device). In less than a month, “myBatteryLife” has skyrocketed to the #1 US spot in the paid utility apps and as of July 15, is ranked #4 of all the paid apps in the US store! He ranks in the top 10 paid apps in 21 countries, including the UK, and is the #1 Paid Utility App in 23 countries (The UK, US, and France, to name a few)!

We are currently waiting for Apple to approve the release of myBatteryLife 2.0, with a completely redesigned interface and some super secret added features. We already working on myBatteryLife 2.1 and plans to submit it for Apple’s approval as soon as 2.0 hits the app store.

New site is live!

The new site will be going live soon!
