The last day at Taipei started with a brunch at a pretty nondescript neighborhood noodle and ruroufan shop. We ordered two bowls of noodle, a couple ruroufan (rice with braised pork), a plate of pork belly, some pork ears with hard boiled eggs, and a serving of boiled vegetable for the 3 of us (plus the baby, of course).

neighbourhood noodle and ruroufan shop for breakfast

We then packed up, checked out, and headed to downtown for our final destination of the trip – Ximending.

Ximending is a huge shopping district much like a mixture of bukit bintang, petaling street, and jalan alor all mixed together, except with even worse parking situation but a better weather for walking around (when there’s no tyhoon). It is definitely a must-visit for most people who comes to Taiwan, and I don’t disagree.

bubble tea shop at 95 music zone, ximending

Fun fact, at Taipei, underground parking lot has the same 1-way ramp to go up & down different levels, the exit is the entrance and vice versa, and only wide enough to fit a single car going through, one of you would need to reverse if meeting the other at half-level. Fun stuff.

Upon getting out of the parking, we saw a small queue outside 95 Music Zone, and upon closer inspection, there’s a bubble tea stall integrated into this record store. Naturally, we lined up to order.

who says bubble tea should be expensive?

The milk tea here was only 30 NTD, or 40 NTD if you opt for fresh milk. They were as delicious as any I’ve tried, and if you ordered normal Oolong tea and such, they are as low as 10 NTD, which was equivalent to RM 1.40, no wonder there’s a queue.

Who needs those fancy bubble tea chain?

sweet potato ball snacks

There are plenty to see and more to buy if you’re a shopping type at Ximending. For those who are into snacks and street foods, there’s even more to stuff your mouth with. We bought some sweet potato ball snacks to try, but frankly speaking they were just “ok”, a bit deflating both literally and metaphorically to be honest.

sushi wakasakura, Ximending

Since Taiwan is both physically pretty close and has been occupied by Japan for quite a lengthy period of time, Japanese food is also very pervasive here. Naturally, it meant that I must pay a visit to one of their countless Japanese restaurants in the city.

The chirashi sushi I had was laden with sweet shrimps, scallops, and salmon, while mom had an unagi bowl. Both were as good as any I’ve tasted, certainly not disappointed.

bitter gourd lemon juice, maybe too healthy..

We also spotted a rather interesting stall offering bitter gourd lemon juice with some beautiful white bitter gourds on display. The drink is exactly what you’d expect it to taste – sour, bitter, and absolutely feeling like you’re pumping up your health meter as you drink (especially when you opt for sugar free), there’s chunks of bitter gourd to chew on too.

end of the trip, was a great few days with the family

We then drove to airport, dropped the car, and flew back to KL. It was a great trip with some wonderful food, great scenery, and most importantly, awesome memory spent with family. Can’t wait for more.

On my most recent trip to Melaka I finally tried the unique Melaccan style wantan mee that I’ve heard about for so long. For those who are not familiar, the wantan mee in anywhere but Melaka usually come with dark sauce, but over here at the second smallest state in the nation, it is white.. and also often serve with some sort of chili sauce.

bunga raya wantan mee, Melaka

Since we stayed nearby town area, Bunga Raya wantan mee was the natural choice. The restaurant opens at 7pm and serves dinner till about 10pm. We arrived at 2 minutes past 7pm and already there’s a healthy crowd within, and a few people waiting to tapao.

The main chef at the stall is an old man who looks to be doing this his entire life, each movement looked purposeful and precise. With that sort of setting, I was very optimistic and eager.

Our wantan mee actually ended up taking close to 40 minutes to be served, and I was told this was the normal waiting time. Well, gotta wait for good food I guess?

The dish looked pale, wantan served in a small bowl with soup, and there’s some boiled vege, few slices of chasiu with its exterior dyed red, and some minced pork too. Looks .. ok.

white wantan mee, most fans are Melaccans…

Then I had my first spoon, and then the next, and next..

The wantan mee was just as it looked, bland in both texture and taste, with zero excitement. It was necessarily really bad, but it was not anywhere near good either. Most people later commented that it is a taste you need to grow up with, and I guess I’ll have to agree.

If you’re in Melaka and want to experience how a Melaccan grows up, go ahead and have this wantan mee.

The fourth day at Taiwan started out with a morning run, and then a long queue at one of the most popular soya bean places in all of Taipei.

We parked at one of the many tricky parking lots down town – tricky as in underground parking in Taipei seems to always only have one ramp for both directions. If you’re going down, do make sure no one is coming up, and vice versa. They also utilize a lot of number plate recognition technology, so that was nice.

Fu Hang Dou Jiang, yes there’s a long queue

Fu Hang Dou Jiang was the soy bean place we went to. The queue was all around the building and took us about 45 mins to get our food, and apparently that was an “easy day”.

We ordered a yutiao, a soy bean porridge, some soy bean drinks, and a couple other pastries for breakfast. Everything tasted pretty nice as they were all freshly baked and piping hot, they were also kinda mild and not overly strong tasting, as most food in Taiwan tend to be.

soy bean, soy “porridge”, bread, yutiao

However, they were not “45 min standing queue” nice. It was an interesting experience but I’d not want to do it again unless the queue was maybe less than 50% as long.

Dong Guan beef noodle

Jean took an opportunity to meet up with a work colleague who’s stationed in their Taipei office, who then brought us to a nearby beef noodle place for lunch. You can’t visit Taiwan without ever trying their beef noodle, so this was our opportunity.

perhaps we ordered too much for 4 pax

The restaurant she chose was a pretty quaint little restaurant by the name of Dong Guan beef noodle located in an alley across the small Fuhua Park. Small tables & mini chairs, with Jeff Chang’s music from the 90s playing in the back ground, certainly the kinda vibe that agrees with my age group.

These were the dishes we ordered:

braised beef and tendon noodle soup (250 NTD)

clear stewed beef noodle soup with tendon (250 NTD)

10 pork and chives dumpling (9 NTD each)

minced pork with soy bean paste dry noodle (100 NTD)

beef brisket on rice (160 NTD)

the beef were super tender

As expected, these were excellent! The beef were super tender and soft, soup had a decently strong taste with plenty of spice as well. Personally I liked the thin noodle over the thick type as they were easier to work with and soaked up more flavor. Perhaps I’d like the brisket on rice to have a thicker broth instead of soup, but that’s just nitpicking to be honest.

Interestingly, this restaurant does not serve water, and indeed that seems to be a recurring theme in Taipei, do people always bring their own tumbler or tapao a bubble tea after?

Casey at Taipei Zoo, hoppoooo

We went to the Taipei Zoo after lunch, after all, that’s what you’re supposed to do with a toddler in tow, right?

Entrance fee was only 100 NTD and we paid with credit from EasyCard that I won upon arrival, great deal. We also rented a stroller as the boy was getting a bit heavy to be strapping on us after walking for so much the past few days.

excellent zoo, and very cheap tickets too

The zoo is huge and houses impressively huge amount of different species of animals. The usual suspects of large mammals including tiger, lion, elephants, giraffes, hippo, rhinos, and so many different types of 4 legged animals with horns were all there. Of course, the crowd favorite were the pandas, which we were fortunate enough to see.

This was my third time seeing panda and they always looked like it can’t be a real wild animal that looked like that. Nature is weird.

Jin Ji Yuan at Yong Kang Street, Taipei

Our dinner on day 4 was Jin Ji Yuan at Yong Kang Street, a pretty hip area for dinner spots, I think. Parking was a bit of a challenge around the area, as usual, but alas we managed to find a street side parking after a bit of go-around.

The full name of the restaurant is Hao Kung Tao Chin Chi Yuan (Da’an), which also means “fairly priced golden chicken farm”. They specialized in dumplings and has a Michelin thingy on their name, which explained the crowd I suppose.

onion roll, sesame paste noodle, three delicacy soup, taro pudding

We ordered the following:

siu mai (200 NTD)

xiao long pao (150 NTD)

yam dessert (50 NTD)

onion biscuit (30 NTD)

san xien noodle (120 NTD)

sesame paste noodle (60 NTD)

As with the previous restaurant, there’s no drinks on the menu, but I think they do serve beer.

siu mai & xiao long pao

While the xiao long pao was indeed as good as advertised, my favorite dish for the night went to their siu mai. It was the best siu mai I’ve ever tasted, thin, silky smooth skin with a whole fresh prawn on top of minced meat filling. The taste profile was just spot on, no condiment needed.

The pastry was quite interesting as well, while taro pudding (yam dessert) was also quite a (not so) sweet treat. The “san xien” noodle came with pork, liver, and prawn soup that’s quite subtle and comforting, while the sesame paste noodle though required quite a lot of getting used to, it was like a dessert paste on savory noodle, I didn’t really enjoyed this.

Growing up, fast food restaurants have always been a bit of a treat for us as kids. It’s a place with air conditioning, delicious food, and usually quite a lot of fun as sometimes there’s even a playground as well. While there are many of such restaurants, one that’s close to my heart is always Marrybrown, as it is our very own homegrown outfit that rivals the best out there.

Now that I have my own kid, perhaps it’s time to relive some of those memories, albeit with a bit of role reversal.

MarryBrown, our very own homegrown halal restaurant

We did just that last weekend, and with a bit of a twist – by joining Marrybrown’s Burgerlogy Workshop as a family.

What is Burgerlogy Workshop? Well, it is a group workshop and activity introduced by Marrybrown since 23 December 2024 and it’s here to stay! It promises to be fun and educational, and I’ll share our experience here.

the kits that came with burgerlogy workshop

The workshop costs RM29 per pax and comes with the following:

Kiddy Meal – Chicken Burger with French Fries (R) & Drink (S)

Kiddy gift

Apron & Chef Hat (free to bring home, how cute!)

Certificate

Hair Net & Hand Glove

Candy Pack

Prizes for games

four steps to assemble a Marrybrown burger, can you do it?

The workshop wasn’t very difficult and was kinda fun, we donned on our hat and apron, then put on hand gloves (gotta stay hygienic right?), and then the workshop leader showed us how to assemble a Marrybrown chicken burger from the ingredients supplied – mayo, cooked chicken patty, burger bun, and fresh lettuce.

After assembly, the burger then finished up with the wrapper and viola! A complete chicken burger ready to eat!

we got Casey to give it a try, but he got distracted by the bun

I gave it a try and had it done without a hitch as I actually worked in a fast food restaurant many years ago in high school, while Casey, with the help of his mom somehow managed to complete only 75% through before getting distracted and started eating the burger bun!

Oh well, after all he’s just barely over 1.5 year old.

mission accomplished! got a certificate to show too

Overall it was rather a fun activity to be experienced as a family, and we even got an appearance by the mascot, MB Brownnie too! I think this activity is best for those with kids from 3-4 years and above, you get to have some fun and enjoy the meal after as well.

Burgerlogy is available at all Marrybrown restaurants in Malaysia except Genting Highlands, Sunway Lagoon, JPO, Zoo and Airport outlets.

And .. the Bukit Raja Marrybrown outlet has a playground too, that really rounds up the experience to 100%

The last time I talked about popiah from Melaka was this one at Jonker street over 18 years ago, and I remember the highlight being that it had pork lard, and someone also commented that there’s another stall at Bunga Raya that I should check out.

3rd Generation Bunga Raya popiah, with own shop

Well, 18 odd years later I finally get to the shop at Bunga Raya, except that it is now at Jalan Munshi Abdullah, a couple hundred meters up north from the original location.

It is also now a shop instead of just a stall, with a slightly better parking/stopping area to make your order instead of the narrow street of Jalan Bunga Raya, an upgrade for sure.

A popiah now costs RM 7 instead of RM 2.00 as someone mentioned 18 years ago. The stall now manned by the third generation operator who is very friendly and keen to have a chat when it wasn’t busy. According to him, they make everyone from scratch, including the popiah skin (which they also sell), cooking turnip for hours, the eggs, rendering pork lard, bean sprouts, the sauce, etc.

same old pork lardy goodness

The result is popiah the size of burrito that is packed with the above mentioned ingredients with a healthy portion of crunchy pork lard. You can customize the spiciness to your liking, and yes, it was delicious! It was a cacophony of texture with sweetness & spiciness that’s complemented by crunchy, savory pork lard, easily the tastiest food we’ve had in Melaka.

We actually ordered a couple more to bring back to KL but of course, it was best eaten fresh.

This is the travelog for our third day of Family tour to Taipei, you can check out Day 1 and Day 2 by clicking the links. The destination for the day was Wulai District, as suggested by one of my colleagues Christian who has made a similar trip just weeks prior, thanks Chris!

Wulai District, Taiwan

Wulai District is a mountainous area on the southeastern side of Taipei, while only about 30+ kilometers away from our hotel in New Taipei, it took a good 45 minutes to drive there thanks to the slower and narrower roads outside the city area. The journey itself is scenic, we enjoyed it.

Wulai Waterfall, about 80m high

Once arrived, we parked our rental car at the outdoor parking lot with one of those automatic car park lot installed. It’s a fancy way of preventing you to drive off without paying for parking at the machine first, haven’t seen this in Malaysia before.

Walking across the Wulai Bridge we arrived at the Wulai old street, it is not entirely too different from Jiufen & Shifen old streets to be honest, but with quite a hot spring resorts around the area. Since we’re traveling with Casey who’s only barely 16 months young, the hot spring was not in our itinerary.

lunch at Wulai District, what we ordered

We stopped by “Wulai Small Eatery” to have brunch before heading to the waterfall. It was another typical Taiwanese “tai chao” type of meal, with the local popular poached chicken dish, stir fry wild fern, tofu, bamboo shoots soup, and of course, rurou fan (braised pork rice).

The menu and ordering form has prices in NTD listed, convenient. It was a pretty decent meal as well in the taste department.

best view to the waterfall is cafe

After refueling, we headed to the attraction that is the Wulai waterfall. The waterfall is about 1.5 KM away from the old street, you can choose to walk, or take the rather cute scenic train to get there, we opted for the latter for 50 NTD per pax (check out the video above).

Standing at some 80 meters tall, the water fall was rather majestic. There’s a couple more restaurants here as well, but if you want the best spot to enjoy the scene, the Wulai Three Cafe is the one to go. A quaint cafe with huge floor to ceiling glass overlooking at the river and waterfall with no obstruction. While prices of the drinks are a bit on the high side, at least the beverages were rather good, worth a visit.

Yun Hsien Resort

We then walked up a couple more flights of stairs and took the cable car up to Yun Hsien Resort. The cable car ride was only some 400 meters but provided a great view of the river and the waterfall from above. At the upper station, there’s still quite a climb to the resort area itself (probably equivalent to 5-8 stories), which features a beautiful lake and garden. It was around 22 Celsius, a nice stroll in the park and great exercise for our quads…

Wulai Old Street’s famous wild boar satay

After touring Yun Hsien resort area, we took the cable car back to the waterfall area, and decided to walk all the way to the old street instead of using the scenic train again, the weather was great, so why not?

the long queue was worth it, excellent wild boar meat

At the old street, we decided to go for the famous wild boar sausage as the queue is now substantially smaller than earlier in the morning. 20 minutes or so later we got to try the famous wild boar sausage and chicken skewer. The sausage has a slight gamey taste to it that was quite unique in a good way, the chicken skewer was juicy and actually tastes pretty good as well, the hype was worth it.

Bu Yi Yang lamb restaurant

Before heading back to hotel, we stopped by “Bu Y i Yang” lamb restaurant for dinner based solely by the catchy sign board and the fact that it was right along the main road to Wulai District. This is a specialty shop that sells dishes centered around lamb and hand made noodle (mee suah).

our order, with pricing clearly stated too

We ordered roast lamb ribs, lamb soup, lamb with bitter gourd, a plate of vegetable, and three portions of hand made noodle for the three of us. The noodle was silky smooth and soaked up the garlic oil really well, ribs and bitter gourd were our favorites, while the lamb soup itself was actually more like boiled water than actual soup, even if the meat tasted rather tender. All in all was a decent meal, if only they have a more competent soup.

excellent meal at Bi Yi Yang

One interesting thing about many restaurants in Taiwan, including this one, is that they don’t actually have any drinks in the menu. I guess you’re expected to bring your own drinks or have some bubble tea there after?

We headed back to hotel after the meal, concluding the third day of our trip to Taiwan.

Been a couple years since I penned another bak kut teh entry in this blog, that should be deemed unacceptable… To be fair, it’s not that I’ve lost the love for my favorite dish, but I’ve just been a bit slacking on writing.. Anyway, let’s get on to it.

Ah Meng bak kut teh, Taman Sentosa

Ah Meng bak kut teh was introduced to me by Zess, an old friend of mine who grew up and stays in Klang. If I have to pick anyone to be the authority of all things bak kut teh, he’ll be the person. Of course, I went there the first opportunity I got.

Being at Taman Sentosa, Ah Meng bak kut teh is a bit “out of the way”, but that comes with the benefit of having a stress free parking situation. The set up is as with most typical BKT kopitiam, plastic tables and chairs, plenty of ceiling fans, electric hot water supply for tea making, and an open kitchen/food prepping area right in front.

“kahwan” & “pua pui chiak” cuts in claypot

For the three of us, we ordered “kah wan” (leg joint), and “pua pui chiak” (half fatty) meat cuts for 2-portion in clay pot (RM 20 per portion for clay pot). The restaurant was about 80% packed when we made sat down, but thankfully service was rather efficient, our piping hot clay pot of goodness arrived a mere 6 minute later.

Other than meat and offal (we did ask to include intestine & pork stomach), there’s romaine lettuce, tofu skin, tofu pok, and of course, mushroom.

love the fried shallots, Casey approved

In this day and age of high price of pork, the portion we were served was rather generous. Portion of 2 was more than enough to serve 3, I’d describe both the texture and taste of soup here to be very well balanced. They were not too strong, too hard/soft, and certainly not diluted. There’s also fried shallot to be added on top of your rice if you like to add an extra dimension like me.

Oh, extra soup all day here as well. If you’re a fan of Klang bak kut teh, this one is worth a visit.

The second day at Taiwan is actually our first day of proper tour.

I started the day with an easy morning run of about 5k, weather was excellent at 20+ Celsius and New Taipei is an excellent place with wide walkways. There’s a semi-underground drain-turned-park kinda place that ran a few kilometers which was perfect for my routine.

Xiao Pang breakfast restaurant at New Taipei City

Breakfast was at Xiao Pang breakfast restaurant a few minutes away. Parking at Taiwan in the older part of town could be a bit challenging, but luckily the city seems to be a late sleeper so we managed to find a spot on outside some shop houses on the street.

The restaurant is a snapshot of the heritage of American culture in Taiwan, while everything is in Mandarin, the menu would make any American feels at home. There’s toasts, burgers, sandwich, “egg biscuits”, plus a few different Asian entries such as radish cakes, gyoza, and so on.

American style breakfast in Taiwan, plus fried radish cake

We had their egg & bacon toast, a pork burger, and fried radish cake. The Western style breakfast were decent, but we really liked the fried radish cake with the homemade chili sauce, it even had bits of yam within, pretty neat. We also gulped down some black soy drink there as well.

Jiufen, the old seaside mountain village

Our first touristy destination is Jiufen old street. It was about an hour’s drive from Taipei, with about half of the distance being fast highways, 40% slower country roads, and the last 10% super winding & narrow mountain road as we approached the old Ruifang district.

The place gets really busy especially on weekends, it is essentially house converted to shops along a steep, old street. Jiufen literally meant “9 portions” as apparently there used to be 9 families at the area and every shipment of goods had to be split into 9 portions.

“Zhang Ji Traditional Fishballs” restaurant

Like many touristy places, the shops offer a variety of things you can buy to keep at home, or to eat. We ended up getting some “pork paper” which is like a really thin version of bakwa (sweet dried pork), and some instant ginger tea cubes to bring home – they are both sweet and really really strong.

the menu at Zhang Ji

Lunch was at Zhang Ji traditional fishball within Jiufen old street itself. We ordered their set which came with braised pork rice, dried noodle, fishball soup, “oiled” chicken, and boiled vegetable. Additionally, we added a braised pork rice bowl for good measure, since the portion were actually pretty tiny.

the cold chicken was good, the “bento” & noodle too

The food actually tasted pretty good, my only gripe being the usage of disposable bowl & utensils which dampened the experience a bit. It was packed by the time we finished and thankfully the cold weather meant we didn’t have to sweat in that small shop.

Shifen is the natural next destination after Jiufen

Naturally, Shifen was our next stop, and as you might have guessed, the area originally had 10 different families.. so “ten portions” became the name of this place.

Shifen’s main attraction is this railroad track in which many people sets off sky lanterns after having their wish written on them with total disregard of safety and the big warning sign that says you’d be fined between 10,000 to 50,000 NTD encroaching the rail track.

We waited for the train and indeed, the train engineer did not slow down at all, a bit of a safety hazard for sure.. also, I wonder who picked up those sky lantern after they’ve burnt up their fuel and came back down a couple kilometers away..

We also stopped by a tea house and had some bubble tea (sans the bubble) before heading back to Taipei.

back to HonHui Plaza food court

After having spent almost 2 hours on the road thanks to the long journey, rush hour traffic in the city, plus Google map confusion due to the fact that GPS app often doesn’t know if you’re on top or bottom, inside/outside lane of the road, we ended up having to scrap our idea of having dinner somewhere in the city. Back to Honhui Plaza food court it was then.

ended the day with some Japanese style beef/fish + rice

For dinner, we opted for this very popular Japanese style set meals. Two portion with beef and one with saba fish served with rice, egg, salad, and miso soup. Thanks to the heavy influence of Japanese culture in Taiwan, their Japanese food too were of rather high standard, we were well satisfied after a full day of touristy activities.

Earlier this October, we took Casey for our first overseas trip as a family. We’d chosen Taiwan as the destination partly due to suitability of climate during this time of the year, and well, I haven’t been to Taiwan before.

remember to register for your lucky draw!

Our morning flight (Air Asia X since I had over RM 500 credit in the account due to pandemic deal that didn’t happen) was thankfully quite uneventful. We were lucky to have the whole three seats to ourselves with Casey sleeping most of the way through.

Upon reaching Taoyuan International Airport, we collected our luggage and went to play the Taiwan Lucky Land lucky draw which we’ve registered earlier thanks to info from Shing Yee. Out of 4 of us, we did indeed won a lucky draw of 5000 NTD in EasyCard (kinda like Touch & Go in Malaysia), which was equivalent to over RM 600 free money!

pork leg rice stall at HonHui Plaza food court, New Tapei

RENTAL CAR FUN:

We then pushed the cart full of luggage to Car Park 2 under a bit of rain to collect our rental car. Couldn’t find it.. checked with an airport worker and was told car park spot number 25 should be in Car Park 1 instead.. went all the way there and still couldn’t find the car…

Then it dawned to me to check the booking details. Well, STUPID ME BOOKED THE CAR TO BE AT THE WRONG AIRPORT!

We had to take a taxi and traveled about an hour to Songshan Airport to get our rental car. I just need to document this here so I’d never repeat this mistake again.

ru rou fan, pork ribs, pork knuckle

By the time we drove to our hotel (Hyatt Place New Taipei Xinzhuang) it was already dinner time. We checked with the hotel staff and decided to walk to HonHui Plaza, a decent size shopping mall within minutes of walk.

?

We went up to the food court at Level 7 and ordered 3 sets from this stall called Yu Ding Ju Jiao (pork leg).

We ordered 3 sets (195 NTD per set) – one each with pork leg, pork knuckle, and pork ribs. Each set comes naturally with ru rou rice (rice with braised fatty pork), tofu, brocolli, soup, and even bamboo shoots.

195 NTD per set

The dinner turned out to be quite delicious, even mom who was initially pessimistic with Taiwanese food came away impressed. The meat were tender, the sauce thick and flavorful, and those fatty bits on top of our rice was certainly perfect for the temperature that started to get quite chilly.

While kai si hor fun is the most popular dish for breakfast in Ipoh, when the sun goes down, bean sprout chicken (rice or noodle) takes over. In this entry, we’re going to check out one the old school operators located at Medan Selera Stadium.

Yoon Kee bean sprouts chicken, Medan Selera Ipoh

Yoon Kee has been operating for over 20-30 years, previously a stall under some trees nearby, but now a municipal food court at Medan Selera Stadium serving up dinner for mostly local crowd.

On the menu there’s chicken rice, chicken with hor fun soup, prawn mee, dry curry mee, and of course, bean sprouts. Not listed on the menu is the chicken innards that you can also order to go with the more traditional poached chicken.

check out those juicy poached chicken

For the three of us plus the baby, we had 2 plates of rice and a hor fun to go with half a chicken and a serving of chicken innards on a bed of bean sprouts. The chicken were quite juicy and smooth, though perhaps not at the level of Cowan Street. However, the innards, including liver, gizzards, and chicken intestine were superb, crunchy and chewy with the right mouthfeel any fans of innards would enjoy.

those innards are calling my names!

Of course, the bean sprouts were fat and juicy and as good any Ipoh has to offer.

One note though, while the rice was pretty nice, the hor fun (kuih teow) was really something that we should have ordered. Silky smooth and with a soup base that’s packed with flavor you could just have it on its own. I’ll definitely make sure to have that next round.
