PORTRAITS! Kim and Andrew's Engagement Session in Annapolis

2017-04-16T09:29:00.001-04:00

What a seriously awesome day for a portrait session! I completely lost track of time while we were walking around Annapolis occasionally stopping to take photos. It felt like we were just tourists strolling around enjoying the day. Sometimes, everything just comes together perfectly.

EVENTS! LVAD celebration at Medstar Washington Hospital Center

2017-03-27T20:31:00.000-04:00

This was tough event to photograph. Just listening to the patients talk of their experiences brought tears to my eyes on more than one occasion. They spoke of being given second chances, turning their lives around, attending weddings and meeting grandchildren all because a device was extending their lives. The amount of gratitude being expressed in the room by patients and staff alike, was overwhelming.

WEDDING! Jaime & Mark at the Engineer's Club

2017-03-23T21:07:00.000-04:00

My first wedding of spring at one of my favorite Baltimore venues. When I first met Jaime & Mark I knew we would have fun working together. Their humor, sincerity and genuine personalities were definitely a highlight of the day. We laughed, we cried, we danced. That's right, I did all those things too. I couldn't help myself. It was an emotional day. Just look at the photos.

2016-10-10T14:58:00.000-04:00

WEDDINGS! Ashley & Ryan at Swan Cove Manor

2016-10-03T14:45:00.000-04:00

No hurricane but a cloudy, muddy day made for some outdoor adventure, creative thinking and getting a little dirty. No worries. Everyone came prepared with boots and umbrellas and a positive attitude. The rain held off and we got some wonderful photos on the grounds.

EVENTS! Grand Opening of the Edgewood Goodwill

2016-08-15T14:37:00.000-04:00

There were people lined up an hour before the doors opened. Right after the ribbon cutting it was like an episode of Supermarket Sweep. Carts were rolling, clothes were flying off the rack and the housewares department was gridlocked. I just tried to stay out the way and capture the chaos.

PORTRAITS! Jaime and Mark's Engagement Session in Canton

2016-07-20T12:33:00.000-04:00

Oh, it was a scorcher for sure on this hot July day. I don't even think you can tell we were breaking a sweat, though. We laughed so much we forgot about the heat. They are definitely my kind of people and I already know their wedding is going to be awesome.

PORTRAITS! Corporate Head Shots in Columbia

2016-06-20T14:06:00.001-04:00

Whether it's for a website, social media profile or print marketing, a good head shot is a must in today's business world. I wanted to give them each staff member more than one setting to choose from and worked to create a comfortable, friendly image to present to their clients.

ALBUMS! Modern, Industrial Wedding in Baltimore

2016-05-26T10:29:00.002-04:00

I love getting shiny new albums in the mail. It's not even my wedding but I rip open the package with glee (and caution...it is a wedding album after all) and immediately flip through the pages. I know I worked on the design, I know I've seen albums before, but all of a sudden it's this real tangible object. An object that will be held, examined, re-examined, lovingly viewed, cared for and cherished. It's the final gift I give to my clients and it's wonderful.

EVENTS! Bob & Judy's 50th Wedding Anniversary Party at the Crofton Country Club

2016-05-18T15:16:00.000-04:00

The room was full of so many family and friends gathered over a lifetime spent together. It was an impressive sight. The stories told, the experiences shared, the photos of children, parties and trips abroad. I shall aspire to live a life such as theirs. Here's to many more adventures together.

WEDDINGS! Lauren & Bryan at the Great Room at Historic Savage Mill

2016-05-17T17:39:00.001-04:00

Ryan and I had a rare opportunity to work together for Lauren and Bryan's wedding this past weekend. There were so many moments I had to hold back the tears at this wedding. When I first saw the photo of Lauren's Mom, the look on Lauren's father's face when he was dancing with her, when Bryan's brother and Best Man gave his speech. There were joyous moments too, and laughter and goofiness. It was all of these things wrapped up into one amazing and emotional day for everyone who shared it with them.

PORTRAITS! Big Sister, Little Sister

2016-05-09T19:36:00.000-04:00

It is familiar and new all at once. The drive to the house, parking in the same spot, walking to the front door as the dog slides through the foyer to greet me. The last time I was at the Novaks' house I was there to photograph their first child. It was new to all of us. I had only done a few newborn sessions in the past, they were new parents. Diana had printed out some photos that she'd seen online as suggestions, so we tried a few out. I had some ideas from watching workshop videos so we tried those too. We even managed to get a photo of the baby and the dog after much cajoling.

This time we were all more relaxed. Maddie was running about in her 'Big Sister' shirt. The dog followed us everywhere. We replicated a few of the images from the last time and came up with some new ideas for Baby Josie. I kept shooting throughout, trying to capture all the little in between moments. A smile, a kiss, a hug, a yawn. The baby sneezed and it was the cutest. These are the things that matter.

TRAVEL! Murals of Venice

2016-05-05T10:04:00.000-04:00

I travel to the west coast quite often. I have family in Venice, California and feel amazingly privileged to vacation in such a picturesque locale. I have always wanted to roam around and photograph all the amazing murals along the beach from Venice to Santa Monica. I took a day to wander around with my camera capturing as much as I could quickly realizing that it could not be accomplished in just one day. There is art at every turn, down alleys, on garage doors, filling walls and patios and doorways. Whole sides of houses have bee covered in art no matter where you walk throughout the city. I made a mental note everywhere I drove or walked to return and explore different neighborhoods. Hopefully I'll be back this summer for more art adventures.

PORTRAITS! Ashlynd in Venice

2016-05-02T14:37:00.000-04:00

No agenda, no plan, just two girls strolling around Venice before sunset looking for cool places to take photos. Ashynd's hair blowing in the breeze, tourists riding their bikes around me as I lay down in the path to get the perfect shot. We talked about getting lost in the canals, she showed me her favorite gardens and where all her friends lived. I made her spin like a top next to some palm trees. She kindly obliged my every suggestion. In return, I photographed her with her bird who's only 11 weeks old, still fluffy with baby feathers.

EVENTS! PLAZA by Scott Pennington at Light City Baltimore

2016-04-02T13:04:00.000-04:00

I've had Light City on my calendar for months. I didn't quite know what to expect of this inaugural event and I wasn't even sure what it was all about. As the date grew closer I read everything I could about the artists installations, scheduled events and themes to be explored during the week long exposition. That's when I discovered my college friend, Scott, was creating a display outside of the World Trade Center entitled PLAZA. I have always been a fan of his work regularly featured at Art Scape and the Transmodern Art Festival. Of course, I was going to stop by and explore his latest creation. When I finally made my way through the crowds of onlookers and participants I was blown away. It was everything I'd hoped for an more. Colors, lights, large constructions that glowed and blinked and mesmerized viewers. 3500 lightbulbs lit several freestanding structures as people wander around, under and through arches, chevrons and arrows. I could have spent hours gazing upon this ever changing landscape. I ran into Scott as I was admiring his workmanship and he asked if I could return to take detailed photographs of his work. Of course! I dare you not to be enthralled by the amazing colors and compositions.

PORTRAITS! Sonia's Birthday

2016-03-14T12:59:00.000-04:00

I had a wonderful time photographing the family for Sonia's birthday this past weekend. I love it when I feel more like a guest documenting an event. It's such a relaxing way to work and the images are that much more special.

PORTRAITS! The Sandy Family

2016-02-02T12:52:00.000-05:00

I love getting to photograph families as they grow. A warm welcome to the newest addition to the Sandy Family!

2016-01-29T11:06:00.000-05:00

SHOWS! 1840's Winter Open House

2016-01-16T13:15:00.000-05:00

This is one of my favorite venues in Baltimore. The old City Life Museum is one of the more unique locations to hold an event. Being a Baltimore native myself, I love all the history that is preserved on each floor and the creative layout of the rooms. It is definitely a challenging place to photograph as each floor has a non-traditional layout and color scheme but that is was makes it interesting. I always jump at the opportunity to participate in their Open House. These are just a few photos of the other vendors on my floor including my table in the Cabaret Room.
