Recently Pokerstars announced a celebrity rapper tournament where you can test your luck againt superstar Fabolous … looks like there was more to the deal then just a straight pay off for Fab as I caught this subliminal advertising in his newest video. Notice the “I <3" on the girls shirt, with the Pokerstars symbol directly behind her.

That’s some nice indirect advertising which 99.9% of people would never notice - but to a someone such as myself who is used to these types of strategies, they stand out like a sore thumb. Pokerstars seems to be moving into new demographics to really get a stranglehold on the industry, to which I have to say about time.

A friend of mine came to me for some advice a few weeks ago on how to better convert his site. He is getting decent traffic (400 minimum organic searches/day) yet still making less than $1k/ month. I took a look at both his site and analytics, and everything seemed to be of high quality.

The problem was the poker rooms he chose to promote were all very small and unknown. He said it was because he had $400 cpa’s compared to $100 at the big rooms. I convinced him to get rid of every ad and replace them with premier poker rooms, and low and behold he is banking nearly 4 figures a day now.

The fact of the matter is, I can offer you $500 CPA’s all day, but if your EPC is still going to be $0.05 then you’d be a fool not to promote a Stars or FT or other major brand at a much lower CPA (and much higher EPC).

I’ve always been a domainer, ever since I can remember. Some people golf, some people collect dozens of other things, I collect domains. The aspect of flipping your portfolio for a huge ROI is the driving force behind most domainers.

I’ll admit, I am one of the people who is buying up ccTLD’s left right and center. There are still some outrageously good investments to be made right now, even for reg fee. In the hurting economy you can also pick up some really solid ccTLDs in the aftermarket right now.

With the internet growing leaps and bounds in other countries, and the localization of domains in each country holding trust with it’s citizens. the ccTLD’s for each country are going to drastically increase in value every year. I suspect the people who load up on ccTLD’s right now are going to be laughing all the way to the bank when the market catches up. People like Rick Latona, and this next guy who is making $3k/day parking ccTLDs that were bought at reg fee.

What countries to look for? Anything that has short premium domains left in developed or developing countries are fair game, imo.

After admitting to guilt and apologizing profusely, Michael Phelps is now starting to feel the heat. Not only has he been suspended by the American Swimming Association for 3 months, he has already lost his first major endorsement in Kellogg. Kellogg’s announced that Phelps’ behavior was inconsistent with the Kellogg’s image, and they would not be renewing the contract at the end of February.

It looks to be a big mistake as the press is already criticizing the company for this move that’s obviously not been well thought out. I am pretty sure that keeping Phelps on board would be a lot less harmful to Kellogg’s as a company than their current strategy of dumping the greatest US olympic hero of all time for something he did in his personal time, at a party.

It really begs the question if Kellogg’s may have an ulterior motive for this move? Just last month, CNN raided Michael Phelps’ kitchen during an interview and found not Corn Flakes, but Honey Oats (made by Post), one of Corn Flakes biggest competitors.

One thing is for sure going to be pounded into this 23 year old’s superstar athlete head: When you’re in the spotlight, people are going to be watching with a magnify glass and your every move can effect your bottom line. Although Kellogg’s is looking pretty dumb here (we never even mentioned corn flakes are a “stoner food”, cmon), swimmer’s don’t stay popular forever and Mr.Phelps you may want to collect as much money as you possibly can while you are still in your prime. With that being said, maybe it’s best to keep the bongs and your sponsor’s competitor’s products behind closed doors for a while.

Google Ambush Review

Ok so yesterday I watched the new google ambush videos and took a look at the members area. I am a big fan of Andrew X and Steven Lee Jones’ work so I was quick on this one.

Without spilling too much info, I would definitely recommend this video for anyone trying to get into pay per click or anybody struggling with pay per click or conversions. Google Ambush also goes over some really great landing page techniques - again which are fit for people who are not already experts in the PPC field, although many of my readers already are.

Google Ambush is a series of videos with expert google adwords affiliate marketing techniques and tips. The first video delves into the Google Adwords quality score - what it is, why we need it and exactly why they love it.

The next videos tell you how to get a great quality score every time, and how to capitalize on the google slap. While most marketers get a google slap increasing their minimum bids to unprofitable numbers, Google Ambush teaches you how to get even lower bids due to having the highest possible quality score - and exactly how to achieve it.

Google ambush also covers many areas dealing with landing page conversion. If you are currently just blindly putting up any old landing page, or you think your conversions should be much better, your landing page is the first place to look. Google Ambush videos will definitely help anybody unfamiliar with these topics cover a fast learning curve.

The above review was about the videos, but I also took a look around the members area. The tools to automate and create landers/campaigns seem very powerful and worth the monthly fee. You can read more about the membership area on their sales page.
