Is it just me or is that weird?

Just me, okkie dokkie!

Had fun on the highway, although after the Ice Field things got pretty uneventful if you know what I mean. Well, no, you don’t, cause you weren’t there, I was, not you. Hmmm.

As you can tell I’m either high on cafine, or am really tired, I’m leaning on the later, no seriously, I’m so tired I’m leaning. ha. Get it.

Okay fine! This post sound much better in my head with my own voice saying out loud in the dark.

I have a warm sweater on.

Jasper is great, in my opinion, it just seems more relaxed than Banff. I am definitely biased, people! I had supper at this awesome pizza joint/pub. Was pretty cool. Oh, and I even got to see the NHL season kick off. Whoppy do da day! I really enjoyed my pizza though. I enjoyed it so much I will now leave you with a picture of my pizza. Isn’t she beautiful. awww

I do love the feel of the town and of course the mountains around the town but it seems like it is too much about the booze. It is probably just mean, because I don’t drink and don’t have any intentions of doing so.

Anyways, I didn’t have to stop into Banff, but was in dire need of a bathroom and some food. I pulled into the busy town and finally found a place to park. Maybe that is why I like Jasper better than Banff, I know my way around better. Anyway, I walked up the main drag taking it all in. Like always there were people from all around the world, from Scotland and England to Japan and Brazil.

One things I really like about Banff and possible Jasper, is how even the lower end restuarants look fancy. Like the McDonald’s in the picture. It just look nicer. Same with the Boston Pizza I had lunch in. Very mountainy looking with log supports throughout.

Like I mentioned I didn’t stay in Banff long, just long enough to grab lunch and have a quick look around. I’m currently on highway A1 on the side of the road writing this. I must get back on the road now though, so here are some picture.

Today I will be leaving Calgary and heading into the mountains. I will first drive towards Banff, where I may or may not stop. After getting past Banff I will switch from the Trans-Canada Highway onto the A1 highway, which is a more enjoyable drive.

I will then end up in Lake Louise where I will proceed to travel north towards the Ice Field and Jasper.

I will over night in Jasper, where I want to *try* and take in the sights and maybe food.

Anyways, I’ll be in touch will on the road. Pictures and video to come.

I knew what I was looking for. I really wanted to get a Jeep Grand Cherokee so that is what I found. It is a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. It has all the option I want (power everything, cruise, title and tow package)

The inside is amazing and very clean. The outside is just as good, but does has the odd little mark. It is a gold.

I love the thing, it is the space, look and power I want. Here are the photos:

So you guessed it, I helped move a load. The trip is something like 9 hours moving a moderate speed, and that wasn’t always the case thanks to Labour Day Weekend traffic. You head in towards Banff on the Trans Canada Highway and just stay on it through the mountains and then you magically pop out of the mountains in beautiful Chilliwack. Which incredible reminds me of Hawaii.

When I’m not driving or in control of the vehicle I don’t do well on some of those mountain roads. I get nervous, but I managed.

About an hour outside of Chilliwack last night we switched drivers. Sure enough only 20 minutes after doing so, the rain let up and it was actually an enjoyable drive in.

We stayed at 1st friends in-laws. They had set up this giant of a tent in there backyard for us. Did I mention it was 12pm (12pm Calgary/Yellowknife Time), needless to say we were tired. What that has to do with the tent I don’t know, but I didn’t actually sleep in the tent. I decided, with all my wisdom, I was going to sleep in the back of the cube van we were driving. It was actually an awesome decision. Inside the empty Cube Van were 10 moving blankets, thick fabric to protect your furniture if you will. Anyways, I grabbed a blowup mattress from the tent, plopped it in the van and laid down 3 or so blankets, then my sleeping bag, and then another blacked. I was so comfy. If it wasn’t for the odd vehicle passing by on the street we were parked, it would have been amazing.

On to today. There is not plan, well actually there may be a small one. We are going to load the van quickly and to the best of our ability and then get back on the road. I for one do not want to be getting back into Calgary at midnight, so there is a chance we may overnight again somewhere. Possible Revelstoke, none of this is concrete.

Yesterday was my very last day at work. I no longer have to get up at 5:30am, this excites me. This also means, I am self employed for the month of September. I can call it that because I will still have some revenue coming in, not much but some.

As it was my last evening in town for a while, I took my mother out to supper. Maybe Boston Pizza wasn’t the greatest choice, but I like the food, and to be honest, most of the time I get good service. Last night, not so much. I think the hostess knew we weren’t having a good time and purposely ignored us. Oh well. Although that did lead me to want to change how businesses handle customer serves. Be watching for a post on WithMedia.ca about that.

Finally the last thing I did yesterday was pack. Before you criticize me for having an ungodly amount of stuff, hear me out. One bag, weighing in at 44lbs, is full of clothes, a pair of shoes and a jacket, as well as some chargers. The second bag, weighing in at 49lbs, has a tent, mattress, tripod, mono-pod, truck accessories and other odds and ends. You see, normally, I drive everywhere, so I’m not that accustom to having to pack for flying. Just be happy, I’m not trying to fit in my booster cables somewhere.

The reason for some of the stuff is, I thought it would be neat to document as much of this trip as I can. Over the course of 3 days I will be traveling from Calgary, AB to Dawson Creek, BC so I will be taking my time and taking in what I see. The reason for all the bandwidth like I mention in the video is so I can upload videos and photos through out the journey. That and where I’ll be staying in Dawson Creek doesn’t have Internet.
