A site that expanded in2 an entire "family"/"network"/choose.ur.own.Web2.0.description of blogs, tumblrs, sites, events, etc.

Nd while the blog itself has gone long ignored 4 the last several months, its ideas have only expanded further.

- Its expanded in2 a more "articulate" more "socially acceptable" more satirical Online Museum that is called Artifacts of Modernity, which can be viewed @ ArtofMod.com.

- Its wonderful musical postings have been all cumpiled in2 one central place called MusicNouveau (music being the things that r posted, nouveau being part of the name of the blog/”family network infrastructure”) which can b found @ MusicNouveau.tumblr.com.

- Its starvation 4 entertainment has been executed thru crazy events via L.A. Nouveau parties, 50% of which have resulted in some sort of legal/police intervention.

So as L.A. Nouveau continues 2 move fwrd in ways outside of the original blog, it feels like its good time 2 "look at our past" in order 2 "best understand the present" in order 2 "help us best succeed in the future".
Please join me on this magical journey thru teen angst, pseudo-hipsterdom, hyper-irony, meta-physical means 4 understanding the world around us.

Aside from AZN's, hipsters, nd the Blogosphere, 1 of the more popular talking points of this blog has always been The.French.

In all past discussions of these mysterious/silly/cunty-but-loveable ppl, theyve been addressed bcuz of their amazing nd often superior music.

Nd with artists/singers/DJs/electrosluts like Uffie, Justice, Yelle, nd M83 just 2 name a very select few, its understandable y Im so often discussing the going-ons of the French music scene.

But there r so many othr things about the.French that we hardly ever address.

Such as their food.
Croissants = YumCity.
Nd a Baguette.with.Ham+Cheese is so "in" these days around lunchtimes.

A Guido's Role in the East Coast MTV Universe

Once upon a time, a long long time ago, back in the 19k's, a TeleVision Channel called Music TeleVision, or mtv as ppl liked 2 abbrev it, used 2 ditch their TimesSquare NewYorkCity studio evry summer nd would instead operate from what they liked 2 call
the MTV SummerBeachHouse.

This interesting seasonal meme was a favorite of many teens/tweens/20somthings growing up in the late 19ks nd early 2ks.

The annual summer special started in 1997 here in L.A., but then switched it up in 1998 to a very very vry different locale. They took the SummerBeach series away from the westcoast, bringing it far far beyond the classy beaches, palm trees, nd real surfers, instead moving on 2 the 1 nd only... Seaside Heights, NJ.

If uve been fortunate enough 2 actually visit Sleazeside Heights, New Jersey, then ur probably aware that its the last kind of place u'd expect MTV 2 wanna show off. But they mustve rly liked something about it, cuz they went back 2 Seaside Heights 4 yrs later for "MTV's Shore Thing" in 2oo2.

So what exactly did MTV see in whats often regarded as the sleaziest + trashiest of all the Jersey shore beaches?

But 4 those who have, I apologize on NewJersey/NewYork's behalf.

Now, national pride is never rly a bad thing... Unless u take it 2 a level where u bcome so ItalianAmerican-obsessed that u only quote The Godfather, where the amount of gel in ur hair kills 3 species of wildlife a day, nd where ur skin color is far more orange than an aged pumpkin.

Nd while many Guidos dont actually even live in the state of NewJersey, they follow the same migratory patterns every summer around the same time.

Like birds, they use their natural-guido-instincts 2 gather all 2gether in Staten Island/Brooklyn around Memorial Day Wknd, drive out of the NYC-area all packed in several convertibles nd hummers, nd finally make their way down 2 the NewJersey beaches of Belmar, Pt. Pleasant, nd above all, Seaside Heights.
Its a migration that researches have been intensely studying 4 yrs, hoping 2 gather some new information on what the future of Guido-beach-hopping nd the Guido-movement could bring.

- Im trying 2 brainstorm some creative things that I can do with all of the face masks I bought 2 weeks ago when all my frnds said I would die from the Swine if I didnt. Could make some nifty bday presents. I heard theyre still worth a lot in China, Toronto, nd other SARS-affected cities. Maybe next time I go on tour with my Indie/PunkRokk/Hipster/Hampster band, we'll perform wearing face masks. Nd then can throw them out 2 all our fans at the end of the show. Perfect. -

These feelings of Thnx r expected 2 continue throughout the rest of the December month until u r completely surrounded by gifts/gift-giving nd thus the only thing 2 b thankful 4 is that ur getting that new Wii2.0 4 Xmas/Hanukkah/Kwanza/Choose.ur.own.LooselyAffiliated with Religion.December-based.holiday

It thus seems like midApril is just not even remotely a designated time 2 "b thankful". Cant believe the time has finally come 4 me 2 experience my first Coachella evr.

Just want 2 have the Best / Most Cliché Coachella Experience Ever.
- Want 2 pass out from dehydration.
- Want 2 get drugged while I'm camping out in the desert.
- Want 2 have my first mini-heart failure while listening 2 the Ting Tings.
- Want 2 have my identity stolen at a convenience store in lil downtown Indio.
- Want 2 musically 'fall in love' with 1 of the lessr-known artists that I muster enough courage 2 interview after their show.

- Sad nd shocked that my former friend Amy dropped out of the lineup. Shes usually so professional.

- Glad that the no-longer-preggy M.I.A. will b there instead. Miss her. Saw her last June in some random east coast city. Couldnt tell she was pregnant back then. Im pretty sure she was rly stoned. I wonder if she still smokes as much weed now that she has a lil AltBaby.

- Intrigued that 1 of the main sponsors 4 Coachella is Heineken Music. Didnt know that Heineken Beer Co had a music dept. Someday I wish 2 b the first artists signed by Heineken Beer Records. Pretty sure Ill have 2 b drinking a Heineken in evry music vid/promotional shoot/at evry concert on stage. Dont rly like Heineken, so maybe I wont do this. I think id rather b signed to Crystalmeth Records. Id b totally happy 2 promote that juicy goodness.

- Hoping that Steve Aoki nd the whole Dim Mak crew doesnt h8 me when Im hanging out at his pool party on Saturday. He didnt rly seem to warm up to me that much last time we met at that CobraSnake yard sale.

Its Good 2 Have Frnds, or Friends of Friends

Here's something thats really "in" right now that u might find interesting: frnds.
Frnds/friends r so "in" at the moment.
After the massive decline of the importance of frnds thanks 2 the end of the similary named television series back in 2004, most ppl believed that frnds were on the way out 4 good.
But thanks 2 many factors including but not limited 2 the Economy, BarryObama, nd the hit series 2 Catch a Predator, the importance of having friends seems 2 once again b on the rise.

Cuz with all the problems/fighting/religgy.extremism.via.revolutions out there in the World, making friends seems 2 b one of the only solutions besides the inherent Iraq-Iran-Saudi-Israeli-Chechnya War of 2014.

Nd while there r so many ppl out there who totally suck, there r also a lot of others who we could all benefit from befriending.
Maybe not BestFriending, or even RlyGoodFriending, but at least friending.

Something bsides liquidating my future retirement fund.
This big event was Moving 2 L.A.

Hence, the ideas that r expressed in this posting site.
Hence, the way I currently live my lil life...

- Like raging at epic concerts in the L.A.area.

- Like trying 2 get a tan at thebeach.
- Like soaking up the sun.

Dont know about u, but not much offend me these days.
Used 2 b a lot more Offend-able.
Back in the days of LowSelfEsteem/Hypochondria/Menopause, used 2 b kinda sensitive 2 the harshness of the wrld.
Used 2 feel a lil hated on.
Used 2 feel kinda targeted.
Used 2 feel uncomfortable when ppl would do/talk about morally offensive things.

Remembering now back when I got rly upset when ppl thought it was funny when MichaelJackson dangled his babyrobot ovr the hotel balcony. Used 2 say things like,
"Thats a child right there!" or "U should care 4 its life" or "Look at the pain in Jacko's eyes" etc.
Now I look at the paparazzipics nd cant help but laugh, thinking of how much fun it mustve been 4 that lil Baby 2 get all that Media attention nd for Jacko 2 get all that publicity.
In the end it rly was a good call... plus the Baby didnt die or anything, so, guess thats a plus.

So nowadays I dont rly get offended by much.
Maybe its cuz ive been exposed 2 so much that im no longer freaked out enough by anything.
Maybe if I didnt watch my fave SoapOpera star get mauled to death by a crowd of protestors when I was 12yrsold in Long Beach, CA, I'd b more easily offend-able.

Get Creative With Your Intake/Alcoholism

Warning: Not trying 2 promote the "binge drinking culture" with this upcuming post. But, like, whatevr.

Now that thats out of the way, it seems like a good time in the yr 2 discuss the cleverly created pastime of 'consumption entertainment activities', aka 'drinking games'.
It is, after all, officially the bizarre lil month of March, a month full of holidays/experiences like St.PatricksDay where ur lil Irish frnds get 2 b all "proud" of their hungerstriken heritage so u can drink a lot.
The month of March is also usually home 2 SpringBreak, a common ritual that finds many collegeStudents using excessive amounts of booze/drugs/sex 2 have a good time in some warm sunny locale.

Nd while there r plenty of ways 2 drink nd places 2 do so, sometimes they bcum cliché nd frustrating when utilized 2 much.
- Like at a club.
U gotta love the club scene, but always having 2 throw down lots of cashmoney 4 cheapo lil drinks can get rly annoying.

- Like at a FratParty/BasementParty.
While these two party scenes r cumpletely diffrent, they r similar in some regards, like their overall sketchiness, the increased potential for unwanted sexual activities, the high possibility 4 hard drugs, nd in regards 2 drinking, where its all very excessive nd usually containing alcohol that ur not rly sure of.
Cuz even if its in a bottle u recognize, chances r that its been refilled with some kind of crap OsoNegro-style shit that will probably make u vom later, anothr key similarity between FratParties nd BasementParties [via the frequent vomiting of partyguests after they leave].

- Like with ur parents. Cuz nothing says "Our family is doing just fine" like taking shots of Jack Daniels. Especially when this is in conjunction with a death or an elderly some1's birthday.
But some would find it surprising 2 hear that this can bcum problematic after a while.

So sometimes when all of these places/events/experiences get kind of tiring 2 always b partaking in drinking at, the best thing 2 do is gather up a few good frnds nd partake in 1 of those good ol drinking games.

The Environment // nd Climate Change.

Cuz even if ur 1 of those "I dont believe in science cuz scientist r liars" ppl who dont believe in human-impacted global warming [nd if u are 1 of these ppl, we should have a lil chat 1 of these days], who doesnt love the environment?
Who doesnt love beautiful pristine beaches?
Who doesnt love rainforests teeming with wildlife?
Who doesnt love having fresh air 2 breathe?

Whats so incredible/important about being more eco-frndly/pro-Environment is that it effects so many diffrent things.
Yes, there's the preservation of the planet.
Yes, there's 'saving the rainforests'.
But just as importantly,
- It affects our health. Cuz breathing toxins/acid rain/pollution will give us cancer, harm our bodies, maybe even make us eventually mutate, etc.
- It affects our economy. Cuz GREEN JOBS = the future.
Creating green jobs will boost our HotMess economy.
Investing money in2 sustainable solutions will save our resources nd will thus save us money in the future.
- It affects our role in the lil international community. Cuz othr countries will trust us more if we are aiding them 2 take on sustainability projects/help 2 give them the resources they need 2 be more sustainable.
Nd the reason many nations dont rly like the USofA is bcuz of how much we exploit their resources/dump cheap labor jobs in2 their countries, which creates huge messes nd othr problems.
Nd if we change these environmentally-harmful industries 2 b more sustainable, other nations will want 2 do business with us more. Which ultimately helps National Security too.

I know that this is some high-level-thinking-stuff-right-here.
But its time 2 start making some changes.

This past wknd, approx12thousand students got 2gether in our nations lil capitol 2 discuss Environmental justice nd sustainability in the future, nd marched 2 Barack Obama's white-colored House to voice their concerns, nd lobbied on Congress 2 tell their lil Senators/Representativemens/Representativeladieloves 2 do more 4 the environment.

Lately I've been trying 2 cum up with solutions on How 2 Better Improve My Current Life.
Bcuz there are so many diffrnt stressors currently thawing away at ur/my life.

Thanx 2 exams/papers/reports/deadlines/taxes/foreclosure warnings/losing my malpractice insurance/etc., life is just not an easy thing 2 do right now.

Nd because there r so many things currently affecting us all, a lot of the ppl I know have resorted 2 doing pretty reckless things in order 2 escape from their current states of stress.
- 1 frnd of mine recently spent an entire 24 hrs in the top floor of the library without evr taking a break 4 food, water, the bathroom, etc.
- Anothr human I know decided 2 OverDose on Adderall the night b4 their big exam in order 2 "focus better". Still not sure how this turned out, the human hasnt been able 2 speak since then.
- A bunch of bros that live in my apartment recently decided 2 "fk the economy" nd their morals nd unloaded all of their cash in Vegas. Rumor has it that they'll b moving out next week bcuz they cant afford the rent anymore.
- Accordingly, my bff's mom just started doing Shrooms 4 the first time.

But srsly. I dont want 2 OverDose on Drugs nd die. Ok maybe a lil bit.
But overall, I've been looking 2 find a real solution 2 Improve my Life.

So far I've tried a few things here nd there:
- I tried writing a novel based on my real life. But then I realized that the plot was too graphic 4 mainstream audiences nd the character development was horrendous.
- I tried bcuming addicted 2 painkillers. But Vicaden got rly expensive/my next-door neighbor stopped making my favorite homemade Advil-Morphene-Penecillin mash-up drug cocktails.
- I had my girlfrnd's mom plan my funeral. We got in a fight over the flower arrangement nd the fact that I promised an illicit lover of mine that she could b the go-go dancer at my funeral.

But sadly, none of these things rly helped 2 improve my life. In fact, in most cases, it just made my life a lil worse.

Howevr, I have good news.
I've finally figured out the 1 thing I need 2 do 2 Improve my Everyday Life:
Run Away.

That's right.
Running Away would improve my life so very much.
I wouldnt have 2 deal with the ppl who i h8 around me.
I wouldnt have 2 pay the rent evry month.
I wouldnt have 2 have ppl b aware of where I am at all times.
I would b more-or-less free.

Yes, I'd b poor. But i'd find some easy most-likely-illegal job somewhere.
Yes, I'd have no place 2 live. But there's a lot of nice basements all over the wrld.
Nd CouchSurfing is so "in" right now.

So now I'm trying 2 figure out where I want 2 Run Away to...
I've narrowed it down 2 a few places.
- Any of the beaches near L.A... Yeah, im sure it would b easier 2 track me down if I stayed nearby, but i rly do love SouthrnCalifornia nd would love 2 be near the beach. Nd it would make it a lot easier 2 bring all my lil personal belongings.

- Miami, Florida, USofA.
Ive been there b4. Nd I usually rly like it, altho I get quickly fed up with the extreme stereotypes that live there aka SketchCubans, FlamingGays, ElderlyJews.
But on the same lines as the L.A. beaches, I love the ocean, nd im sure I would meet some rly frndly ppl aka Models who would take me under their wing, feed me well, nd I could get in2 some pretty bangin parties with them.

Every year, unlike any other MusicFestival, unlike any other RecordCompany, unlike any other HitPredictingBlog, Coachella always delivers the best bands/artists, period. Most of whom usually make it huge after their Coachella debuts.
But srsly, they always do it.
Evry year.
Without fail.

at Coachella 2k4, Radiohead, Pixies nd Air were some of the big names, but it also featured lil-knowns like The Thrills nd The Killers way b4 either got famous.

at Coachella 2k5ive, Coldplay may have headlined the 2day event, but othr unknown artists such as M83, M.I.A., Diplo, Spoon, nd Tegan and Sara were all performers b4 their prime.

at Coachella 2kSixxx, the last 2day-only festival staked up some amazing acts who were somewhat known like Sigur Ros, The Shins nd The White Stripes, but also had an incredible line-up of on the rise artists like Sufjan Stevens, Sia, Imogen Heap, Rogue Wave, nd Andrew Bird. Can’t believe all of these artists were towards the bottom of the line-up.

at Coachella 2k7, they stepped up the game even more with Björk nd RHCP headlines, Manu Chao nd Interpol on the second tier, but on the very end of the lineup were, if u can believe it, Amy Winehouse, Girl Talk, Justice, Mika, Lupe Fiasco, Ratatat, nd CSS.

at Coachella 2ZroZro8, the best best best one yet / possibly of all time, Jack Johnson was the big man in Indio, along with Death Cab 4 Cutie, the Verve, nd Portishead. Back from 2k5ive, Tegan&Sara nd M.I.A. all made 2nd appearances, this time much further up in the line-up; Justice performed 4 their 2nd yr in a row too. But who were some of ppls far down in the line-up? Uffie, MGMT, The Bird and the Bee, Architecture in Helsinki, Cut Copy, Duffy, Black Kids, Deadmau5, and the list goes on and on and on.

Nd now, in just 2 months or so, Coachella 2kNine will b upon us.

The line-up is of course, incredible.

Bcuz the ppl that perform at Coachella always wind up making it huge in the alt/indie scene within the months after.

Nd as an L.A. newbie, nothing excites me more than thinking about being a part of Coachella.

Just feel like it can easily bcum a nuisance in my life, that it creates a lot of wasted time nd bad habits.

1. It brings me closer 2 my fave TV shows.
Bcuz I no longer own a TV/have money 2 pay 4 my TiVo OnDemand with built-in DVDburner nd non-optional MegaHBOSubscription Sex4FreeXtraBundledPackage SuperStarz Pack.

So watching my fave TV shows online is the only real option.
Thank u Hulu 4 letting me catch up on the 30Rock episodes that I would otherwise miss.
Thank u Illegal-Websites-in-Japanese that allow me 2 see all of the seasons I've missed of the critically acclaimed tvseries The Bad Girls Club.

Thank u also 2 a lil program 4 ur/my laptop called Mojo, which lets u "steal" music, movies, nd tv shows from anybody in ur lil InternetNetwork who also has Mojo.
Now I'm running out of filespace on my Macbook but successfully have all 5 seasons of Entourage.

2. It brings me closer 2 Movies that I would never get 2 otherwise see.
Since I had 2 sell my used 1992 Chevy Lumina 2 pay 4 pills/prostitutes/poker, I cant rly get 2 the Theaters anymore.
Plus, most of the films I want 2 see aren't even in the Theaters near where I live.
