UK singing sensation Sam Bailey visits LEGOLAND® Florida Resort during birthday celebration

UK pop star Sam Bailey, who recently wrapped her “Sing My Heart Out” tour in support of her second album, visited LEGOLAND® Florida Resort recently with husband Craig, their three children, Tommy, Brooke and Miley, mom Jackie and several close friends during a weeks-long Florida vacation celebrating her 40th birthday.

Sam, who rocketed to fame after winning Britain’s “The X Factor” TV talent competition in 2013, enjoyed a stay in the LEGO® Friends suite at our LEGOLAND Hotel, plus a private tour of the resort’s Model Shop, where Master Model Builders create and repair the many elaborate LEGO models on display throughout the theme park.

She autographed a star made of LEGO bricks for the hotel’s wall of fame, which includes autographs from celebrities such as singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow, actress-singer Jennifer Hudson and broadcaster Megyn Kelly. In appreciation of her visit, we presented Sam with a mosaic of her debut single, “Skyscraper,” made out of more than 600 LEGO pieces.

Sam and friends ended the evening as special guests of LEGOLAND Knight Lights, our exclusive summertime event.

Ski show surprise celebrates soldier’s homecoming in time for July 4th

Sgt. Tom Cruz received a brick-tastic LEGOLAND® “welcome home” from a stadium full of guests in Pirates’ Cove on July 3.

The U.S. Army veteran slipped into the cast of our “Battle for Brickbeard’s Bounty” water ski show to surprise his unsuspecting family, who were visiting the theme park at the invitation of a family friend who was in on the secret.

Cruz returned from a six-month deployment in the Middle East a few days early to reunite with his wife, Heather, daughter Jaidyn and son Holden at a place where they’d made happy memories together a few years ago.

Watch:

Following their emotional reunion, the Cruz family planned to spend Independence Day together enjoying the theme park and LEGOLAND Hotel.

Here’s how the big surprise was covered by Orlando’s Fox 35 TV station (WOFL):

…and on ABC Action News (WFTS) in Tampa:

Meanwhile, LEGOLAND Florida Resort is proud to honor active-duty U.S. service members all year long with free theme park admission and discounted tickets for their guests.

During this year’s festival, the Quest to LEGOLAND app received multiple Cannes Lions for its innovative use of real-time GPS mapping data that transforms a family’s car ride to LEGOLAND Florida Resort into a themed quest filled with games, puzzles and location-based trivia.

Instead of providing traditional turn-by-turn navigation, the app lets kids unlock themed missions, play car games, answer trivia questions and learn about passing landmarks as location information pops up while they play.

With 40 total games, thousands of landmarks and contextual trivia, what kids experience depends on the route families take to the resort, so each quest is unique.

Plus, with no hidden fees or opportunities for in-app purchases, Quest to LEGOLAND is a truly free experience that lets kids immerse themselves in the fun and creativity of LEGOLAND Florida Resort before they even arrive.

Instead of “Are we there yet?” they’ll be asking, “When can we go again?”
